    Mongolian food

Food was pretty good, I've had better tasting egg flower soup,no flavor, wish they had fried rice, it's plain white rice . Only sucky part is they have no gluten free soy sauce.. service was ok,the cooks were working as fast and hard as they could.. this place was very busy! We did come on Mother's Day , our server could have been better.. Ambiance was ok , average.

Veggies and meats! Low carb/keto friendly sauces too

I don't know why this place gets such a bad wrap. I used to go when Changs when I lived in Portland too and enjoyed it every time. They are open for dine in and allow you to serve yourself again, and I received wonderful service. If you're trying to eat healthy, you can't really go wrong here! I typically follow a low carb/ keto diet and you control EVERYTHING thing that goes on your plate at Changs.

Best time to go is for lunch. Usually the place is clean and the food is pretty decent.

Good Mongolian style place. Nice people. Fair price. I can't see paying more for dinner...not that big of a difference for the price.

Took a couple of minutes for someone to notice me and seat me. It took probably another 20 mins before someone came to take my order. The waiting staff seem a little overwhelmed. But my waiter was nice to answer all my questions and make recommendations. I tried the spicy wonton and the Taiwan Beef noodle soup. The spicy wonton was underwhelming. I specifically asked for no cilantro, and as you can see in the photo, it's covered in cilantro. The sauce was heavy on soy sauce and light on spice. Wontons were ok. At this point I was quite unhappy. Fortunately The beef noodle soup came very quickly and is very flavorful. Probably the redeeming point of the whole meal. The meat was hearty and well cooked. The soup is well balanced. Definitely recommend. So - please add a few more staff members during lunch. I don't think normal folks have that much time to wait during lunch hour.

Inside it's sort of....fake Asian restaurant? Like, it seems to be Chinese food but not from a Chinese Restaurant, except kinda? I don't know. Not that it matters, I just am hard pressed to describe it. The food itself was alright. I had sweet and sour chicken, and my kids had General Tso's. They all came with white rice. It was okay. I mean....it was okay. I wish I could say something more about it. We ate. We got full. We left. We paid 70 bucks, roughly. (for four meals, their friend got an entree but he didn't tell me what he thought about it so I'm not putting his in here). I don't really see going back. But if we wanted Chinese food and were in the area, it's significantly better than Great Wall Buffet. Parking lot is...awkward and cramped. Not very well designed.

The workers are friendly and are good at keeping up on busy days. They are quick to pick up plates, and the tables are always clean each time I go. The very first thing:…read more When you enter the restaurant, there is a pay station, and it's there that you pay the standard amount per person for the buffet before you proceed to the area with the buffet stands and dining tables. The young woman manning this station was on what seemed to be a very animated, important call in Mandarin on her mobile phone. I put up three fingers, and things deteriorated from there. She asked me something in very poor, heavily-accented English, and then resumed her phone call. When I asked her to repeat what she asked me, she did, and then went back to her phone call. I apologised for not understanding her and asked her to repeat it a third time, and she became exasperated and visibly irritated with me and pointed to the extra charge for sodas on the menu. I then figured out that she was asking me if any of the three people in our party wanted soda with our meal. She had already turned her attention back to her phone call. I put up one finger for one soda, she activated the card reader, we paid, and then she said something equally unintelligible, which I assume was some form of "Enjoy your meal", and looked daggers at me, said something loud to the person on the other end of call, and then looked daggers at me again. So, she is very cross with me, well, angry, really, because her English skills are so awful that I cannot understand what she's saying. She's angry at me for her shortcomings. She's working as a cashier in an English -speaking country, her English should be passable, right? An analogy would be me working in Shanghai as a cashier in a restaurant and being unable to communicate with the customers in Mandarin. I've ordered food in restaurants all over the world, and really, I don't mind the hiccups that happen between two people that do not share the same language; I expect it. No big deal, you muddle through it, and it gets done. I don't even mind that this business tasked an employee with dealing with customers in English when her English skills are so very basic. But, why the anger at me because her English is so rudimentary and so heavily accented that I can't understand it? I wasn't angry about the situation, why is the person at fault angry about it? I don't get angry in France when a cashier doesn't understand my toddler-level French. I don't get irritated in Ecuador when the guy at the airport doesn't understand my miserable attempts at Spanish. It's inexplicable to me that I should be the target of her ire. And if she's acting that way with me, you know I can't be the only one. So, a bad start. The food: Everything seemed a bit old and tired, as if they had made it for lunch, it wasn't used up, they didn't replace it in order to save money, and it had been sitting in the chafing containers for hours, drying out. It was 3:30 PM when we were there. I'm sure everything we had was much better when it was fresh. So, very disappointing in terms of our meals. Putting the interaction with the cashier aside, I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Unlike most places that make the dish look like a lot by packing it on a small plate, this one had a massive plate and piled it high. Even the kid's meal was the size of an adult portion! My pad Thai was supposed to be a level 4 spice, but it wasn't spicy at all, and it was a bit on the sweeter side -- not overwhelming, but sweeter than I expected. I also tried the house special fried rice, which was gigantic but sadly lacked flavor. I really didn't enjoy it. The chicken tenders were crispy but a little dry. However, the flourless chocolate cake was amazing! I'd never had it before, but it was so rich and delicious. Highly recommend that dessert! I'm giving 4 stars mainly because of the huge portion sizes. The food overall would probably be closer to 3 stars for me, but the portions definitely stood out. As for the ambiance, it wasn't the prettiest place, definitely an old-school vibe, but it was huge and clean, so no complaints there. Service was just your standard, nothing extraordinary.
