Food is always hot and tasty. Amazing little spot up in the canyon, especially if you're local.

I agree with Jen S. Standard American style Chinese food. Unexceptional, but it filled our bellies. Salem has much better Chinese food.

After your fabulous meal, if you have time, cross the bridge into Lyons, travel about a half mile down main street, and wave hello to the Longhorn cows in the field to your left.

First and foremost, as we discovered, parking is in the back. Second, the formal diningroom had apparently been closed for years, meaning that that all business is conducted in the bar area, which also has slot machines and pool tables. There is also a very prominent sign saying 21 YEARS OR OLDER ONLY! We confirmed that if you have children, the only option is takeout. This is NOT a family-friendly restaurant! We ordered the egg rolls, orange chicken, and mongolian beef. The egg rolls were nothing to write home about; However, the entrees were both amazing and worth coming back for. The portions were large, and the price was reasonable. Both also came with a side of rice. The only reason I couldn't give this place a fifth star is because the menu lists the price of wine as $6.00/glass, yet we were charged $7.75 each. The remainder of our order was billed correctly. This won't stop me from recommending this place or coming back in the future. Hopefully they are able to reopen the dining room at some point so that we bring our kids.

3 out of 5 stars Lucky Garden - Salem, OR…read moreRestaurant reviews always come down to personal taste -- this one just didn't quite match ours. Small dining room with about nine tables, a TV, video lottery room, and moderately comfortable bench seating. Food: * Egg Flower Soup: Mild flavor; decent. * Hot & Sour Soup: Standard flavor, solid base -- improved after adding a couple spoons of chili oil. * Lunch Special ($11 with fried rice): A good value, though not as fresh as what we're used to around Salem. * Crab Puffs: Could use more crunch. * Fried Rice: Plain, no veggies, and on the dry side. * Spring Rolls: Crispy exterior with fresh filling -- a bright spot. * Cashew Chicken: Veggies weren't as fresh as expected. * General Tso's Chicken: Soy-sauce-forward flavor; crunchy breading, large chunks. Just okay overall. Drinks & Atmosphere: Tea is served by the cup (not a pot) -- extremely hot with pink or regular sugar packets. Takes about 20 minutes to cool enough to drink, and comes without a "hot beverage" warning. There's also a faint, odd smell in the dining area that was noticeable during our visit. Overall: Portions are larger than expected for a lunch special, and some locals clearly enjoy this spot. For us, it was average Chinese food -- okay for the price, but below the freshness and flavor we typically find at our favorite Salem restaurants.

Fast, friendly, feast! This was more than enough for two people and I love leftovers. Pan fried…read morenoodles with chix xtra broccoli. Perfect ratio of fresh veggies, chix and noodles. Yum!

I loved the service from everyone. Either from the gay man flirting with me from the other booth the food was great but a bit expensive. Chan's will be seeing the likes of me again!

This is the first time in many years that I've given a 1-star rating to a restaurant. I hate to say…read moreit, but this food just isn't good. It's very bland, definitely needs MSG, chicken powder, and salt in EVERYTHING. We ordered two different combos, a noodle dish, and a large soup. The cost was $70 and not worth $20. You get huge portions, but it doesn't taste good. POTSTICKERS - these are very thick, gummy, and flavorless. They are not steamed and crisped in a skillet the way they should be. They are deep fried but because the wrap is so thick, they aren't crunchy, they're just hard. The filling has no flavor. The sauce had too much sesame oil and not enough vinegar, so it was low in flavor. HOT & SOUR SOUP - the worst soup I've ever had. It's not hot or sour but it is extremely sweet and as thin as water. I'm talking so much sugar that you really can't taste anything else. There's no carrots or mushrooms, just a tiny bit of egg, a few bits of water chestnuts, and probably 2 ounces of tofu. I tried to save it by adding more vinegar and msg, but I could not add enough to overpower the sweetness. None of us liked it and it didn't get eaten. KING PAO CHICKEN - this was missing the small red peppers, so it lacked spiciness. All the other normal ingredients were included, but it had no flavor. BEEF & VEGETABLES: had all the right ingredients, but the meat had no sear so it was grey and had no flavor. It might as well have been tofu. The sauce was flavorless. VEGETABLE LO MEIN: this was the best thing we tried, and it was just passable. The noodles were thicker than they should be so it felt gummy, and again there just want enough flavor. PORK FRIED RICE: this was old, dry, and flavorless. I didn't find a hint of meat in it, no green onions, no vegetables. It was basically old, hard rice with soy sauce. SWEET & SOUR CHICKEN/PORK: both of these could have been the exact same dish, as the chicken and pork were indistinguishable from each other because neither had any flavor. The meat was cooked well, not too dry, and the fresh batter was light and crispy. The sauce was pure sugar, no sourness, so there just wasn't any flavor. EGG ROLLS: these are not egg rolls, they are ordinary crispy spring rolls with no meat. Basically they are just filled with a flavorless cabbage mixture. But they were crispy, at least. OVERALL: it may be fast, and it may be large portions, but if it tastes so bland you don't want to eat it, it's not worth it.

It's hard to find real Chinese food in this neighborhood and I'm glad I found it here…read more They also have an Asian grocery store right next to it that can meet most of your needs The food is actually 4 stars in other big cities but it worth 5 stars here! The beef flank stew is nothing like what their photo shows but it's still good. Not really a dry saucy beef, more of a soupy beef stew. Lots of beef (in this economy!) and the right amount of texture. Not too chewy or dry House special fried rice. flavor is ok, kinda bland, but has lots of various meat. Will try the curry one next time Stir-Fried Lamb with Cumin, generous amount of lamb as well. Rich, musky cumin flavor with a great texture. Probably will be crispy if dine in in person Forgot to take pictures for the Braised pork with preserved mustard leaves (梅菜扣肉). Hard to go wrong with this. Pork is stew long enough that it breaks easily. Just wish it's thicker and with more marinated mustard leaves Twice cooked pork. Another stable you have to try for any real Chinese restaurant. Pork was cut real thin and not too spicy. Just wish the cabbage is more crunchy
