Small dining room with about nine tables, a TV, video lottery room, and moderately comfortable bench seating. Food: * Egg Flower Soup: Mild flavor; decent. * Hot & Sour Soup: Standard flavor, solid base -- improved after adding a couple spoons of chili oil. * Lunch Special ($11 with fried rice): A good value, though not as fresh as what we're used to around Salem. * Crab Puffs: Could use more crunch. * Fried Rice: Plain, no veggies, and on the dry side. * Spring Rolls: Crispy exterior with fresh filling -- a bright spot. * Cashew Chicken: Veggies weren't as fresh as expected. * General Tso's Chicken: Soy-sauce-forward flavor; crunchy breading, large chunks. Just okay overall. Drinks & Atmosphere: Tea is served by the cup (not a pot) -- extremely hot with pink or regular sugar packets. Takes about 20 minutes to cool enough to drink, and comes without a "hot beverage" warning. There's also a faint, odd smell in the dining area that was noticeable during our visit. Overall: Portions are larger than expected for a lunch special, and some locals clearly enjoy this spot. Food was small portions. If you want egg flower soup you pay for it, it doesn't come with your meal. If you want hot tea you pay for it. Staff was rude and slow. The place looks like a storage closet. Found a new restaurant to go to and it's amazing and everything is included in your order for no extra charge and sending size is huge and food is amazing. Ordered doordash, was awful. Shrimp was rubber. Tried to tear a piece off the crab puff with no luck. It was like they microwaved it way to long. Long story short I became very ill after eating it, never again. Doordash refunded all my money but could not take away the stomach ache. read more

Made an online order to pick up. Once I added my item to the cart, there was a processing fee. Ok. That could be from the system they use. However, when I selected place order, they automatically added a tip to my order. When I went to pay at restaurant I told them I hadn't chosen a tip and they said it automatically adds it. So I told them I will choose how much, if any, tip I leave. You'll need to remove it. He finally did however, he was mad and abrupt and walked away after changing it. So check your charges and don't pay online. A tip is earned and not automatic. Also should violate their credit card processing agreement. read more

Have been coming for years never ever had an issue until the other day. Ordered sesame beef and after a few bites my husband about threw up it was rancid like tastes rotten. Told the waiter he told the cooks and they laughed didnt even apologize. Couldn't even eat our food left the rest. When it comes to the pricing, it's moderately set, giving the initial impression of fair value. However, the quality of the food fails to match up with these prices. The menu, while diverse, is plagued by a lack of flavor. Each dish I've tried has been either bland, had an imbalance in its flavor profile, or lacked the culinary nuance one would expect from a decent Chinese restaurant. It's a challenge to find a dish that stands out in a positive way. In particular, the ma pow tofu, which my girlfriend enjoys, strikes me as underseasoned and possesses a slightly funky-sour taste that I find off-putting. Another significant issue is the delivery packaging. It's not uncommon for the food to arrive in a leaky mess, souring the whole experience of the meal. The containers seem inadequate for the job, leading to spillage that has gotten so predictable that we've resorted to opening the delivery bag outside to avoid a mess indoors. I haven't had the opportunity to dine in, so I can't comment on the service or ambiance of Lucky Garden. However, if the delivery experience is anything to go by, improvements are needed in multiple areas. While the restaurant doesn't entirely miss the mark - the ma pow tofu does have its fans, after all - it doesn't do enough to warrant even an "average" rating. The food seems fresh and has good flavor. Meals no longer come with soup or hot tea. Service is so-so.

I am not sure what I received, last nights left-overs?? My BBQ Pork was not light and moist, it was dark, dry meat! Sauce enough for 4 pieces, maybe? Their house fried rice was awful, flavorless! Lastly, I was REALLY looking forward to my SESAME CHICKEN, I opened the box and it's NOT MY ORDER. It's gummy meat on top of ramen noodles. I tried it, because frankly I'm starving; and it's rubber, wrapped in a gummy sauce with hardly any flavor at all! I don't know how they got the rating they have, (which is why I chose to order from them.) Not to mention the fact that they tack on $3-$4 on EVERY dish sent out! OK, we may have a new favorite Chinese restaurant in town! It was seriously so good. The hot and sour soup was on point, perfectly seasoned, and the spring rolls were very crispy and cooked to perfection. They had the classic general TSO made with dark meat, but they also had a version they called "Mothers chicken" made with white meat. My husband and I both agreed it was probably some of the best General Tso we have had ever had. The sauce was absolutely amazing. We also had the Mongolian beef and it was delicious as well with very tender, succulent pieces of beef. Portion sizes were good. And these were on the lunch special menu. The service was a little slow, but there was only one server and he was very nice and apologetic about it being a while to take our order but once he had it in, we had the food very quickly. Good Chinese food is hard to find and this spot does pretty well! Nice portions, good flavor and a lot of d combinations To choose from. The beef and beans were delicious, I can't stop thinking about it even days later. The fried rice was slightly dry and for being the only dine in table (other than a few people playing video lottery) we had to get up twice and walk to the counter for service. To ask for napkins, and then to ask for a box. If it was busy I wouldn't complain about needing to do that but we were literally the only table in there at 730pm on a Sunday night. This was my first time to Lucky Garden. It's a small restaurant. We were happy to see a steady flow of customers to this restaurant. We arrived around 1:45pm on a Sunday. We were immediately seated and given menus. On the back of the menu there was a page of lunch specials ending at 2:30pm. We were pleasantly surprised we were able to order off the lunch special menu even though it was a weekend. On the lunch special menu you get an entree, hot & sour soup or egg drop soup and crab puffs or egg roll. Our food came out quick, hot and tasty. The young man who waited on us was very attentive. We would definitely go back to this restaurant. read more

The worst we have ever had! Got the order to go. The pork chow mein was a dark brown color, the pork was like leather and tasteless. We ordered vegetable fried rice with mushrooms. I have now eaten here three times. I always get my usual of sweet and sour chicken and broccoli beef, this time I also got the mushroom beef and the teriyaki chicken. Awesome. Ordered this from a delivery app, so can't speak to eating there or if they have their own delivery service. This is the BEST ORANGE CHICKEN OF MY LIFE. The best. Oh my gosh I am dreaming of it now. We wanted to try somewhere new and this place was highly rated, so we tried it out. The portions are HUGE and the price is great. We got low mein, chicken fried rice, and orange chicken. It was more than enough to split between two people and have left overs the next day. Everything was great. The rice was fuffy and yummy, the noodles tasty, and the chicken. My gosh the chicken. I would ask for this orange chicken as my final meal. It was crispy, tangy, and there was SOOO much. This is going to be my go-to Chinese food for forever more. Loved it!! read more

Good Chinese Food in Salem. Stopped in after doing some driving and was looking for a place that was still open at 2:30 for lunch. Glad I stopped in. Lucky Garden is located in a small but newer looking strip center. They have about 10 booths and 5-6 tables total. Simple but clean. Even have a few video poker machines in back. Very nice young lady had the entire restaurant covered that was pretty busy for the middle of the day. I had the Egg Foo Yung and Fried Noodles. Both very good. Even liked the Egg Roll. I always poo poo a certain Anglo centric horse emblazoned chain but I got a soft spot for American Chinese food. I was suspect of this four and a half star place. Good American Chinese should leave you full and slightly ill. I loved the hot and sour soup. Both hot and sour and if there ever was an appropriate place for celery this is it. Now for the combo plate. I thought the ratio of breading to meat on the shrimp and the sweet and sour pork was a little high. Tasty but super heavy. The fried rice had great flavor and a toothsome texture that was really pleasant and unlike Any I've had. The General tsos was the best. It had all the right notes of sweet spicy and pungent. The general would be quite proud. The breading was different too for maximum sauce holding. Best general tsos I've ever had. Hands down. There's still a good portion in the fridge waiting for me tomorrow. Like I say. I want my leftovers and my dignity, or neither. read more

New owners and the food is now terrible. This has been my go-to Chinese food for the past eight years and the food was always excellent. Since the chance over the quality of food has dropped in every possible way. The crab puffs are now thick and greasy and the filling is lumpy and tasteless. We have multiple teens in the house and still had to throw these out because no one could stomach more than a bite. The crispy tofu wasn't cooked nearly long enough and was soggy and underseasoned. The quality of chicken has gone way down and is cut into haphazard chunks. It is no longer tender and flavorful. The lo main was horribly overcooked and mushy. The General Tso's chicken wasn't crispy, just a sodden mess. We were all very very disappointed and after eight years of eating here regularly we will now be looking for a new Chinese restaurant. read more
