The food is good, the portions were huge. Especially enjoyed the General's chicken. But I've gotta say they're a little spendy and especially not having a lunch special on the weekends. I don't think we would be back for that reason. Lots of Chinese places offer a lunch special seven days a week and I really hope that this place will consider adding that in the future. read more

The food was absolutely disgusting, the chicken and pork were very soggy not to mention undercooked, I spent $74 on all of this food, was really dry, it was just buried in sauce that wasn't even good. There's tons of green onions and the noodles for I literally had to take them out cuz there's so many and they were old. I called and talked to a young lady that told me she would let the manager know but she said it's a hole in the wall so he's not really there a lot which is the owner. Well we use to go to this restaurant. My wife wanted to try it again. Well it unfortunately was really poor! There was absolutely no flavor to anything we had. They use to have great hot and sour soup. Apparently they don't even have it anymore. This was a very unpleasant experience! Will definitely not be coming back! I brought my mom here for dinner. I went to the restroom and it was disgusting. There was dirt encrusted on the walls right below where you dry your hands. It also smelled of sewage. I told the employees, but they didn't seem to care. I thought I would still give them a chance, but my stomach was turning. When the food arrived, the fried rice was cold. I've been getting takeout at gold dragon for several years. The food is really good. I've never been disappointed. The staff is a bit grumpy once in a while, but only when they're swamped. Most occasions they're very pleasant. The restaurant is always clean. I do recommend it and I'm extremely picky. Lol. read more

The menu offered up just what we were looking for. Sister and I ordered the "select three items combo plate". We both got exactly what we were craving. Husband ordered General Tso's chicken and said it was good. The interior of the restaurant was pretty basic with booths along the walls and a really long banquet table down the middle. Our server was personable and attentive. The BIG downer for the evening was the permeation of cigarette smoke around the area we were sitting. The fried rice was pink I guess from the pork but bizarre. The pot stickers were rubbery and the shrimp really over battered. A door dash delivery. I ordered a combo with general tso's chicken, I requested the sauce on the side NOT on the chicken, I like the crunch of the chicken and the flavor of general tso but the sauce makes them soggy which is disgusting to me. The pork fried rice has no pork in it and honestly it tasted the way a hamster cage smells. Even the fortune cookies crumbled to dust when I opened them. I threw it all out, what a waste of 25$. And screw door dash for not refunding me, won't be using their service or eating from this restaurant ever again. The orders are never correct or drivers don't read and put the food and drinks right up against the screen door, that opens OUTWARDS, thanks I really wanted to spill my drink. I grew up with this restaurant and my family still goes here regularly. We absolutely love this place. The food is always great and the way it is prepared is always consistent. I moved to Utah a few years ago and have been trying to find a Chinese restaurant near me that is similar to here but it just doesn't compare! I miss this place and find myself craving it all the time. Staff is always good to us whether we dine in or make a take out order. Came here for dinner with my husband. We live across the street so we we're looking for something close by. Service was ok, lady was a little rude, and my husband was upset becaude everywhere else egg flower soup is free with your meal, and here it cost extra. My Pepsi was really flat, but the food was really good except for the bbq pork was really dry. Hopefully the experience is better next time. Although I did forget my phone at the restaurant and even though it was after 10:30, it was about 10:50 and they guy there still opened the door and gave me my phone I thought that was really awesome read more

The Gold Dragon. I really like the Gold Dragon. It reminds me of the Americanized Chinese Restaurants my family frequented in my youth in Southern California. Jim, the Manager (not his real name, but his English name, for his American customers) always remembers our names, and the dishes we ordered in the past. Which is easy, because we always order the War Wonton soup ($12.95). A meal in itself, especially warm and welcoming on these cold, dreary, Oregon winter days. I had the opportunity to order from Gold Dragon recently through DoorDash (believe it or not, the first home delivery of Chinese food I have ever ordered), and every dish (Beef and Broccoli ($12.95), House Lo Mein ($10.95), Spring Rolls (4.95/3) and perfect white rice.) were excellent. (Sidebar, Five Stars to DoorDash - fast, easy, dependable, excellent App.) I haven't gone into the restaurant for, oh lord, two years now, but it was always clean, comfortable, provided great service, and had several large round tables that could seat the entire family. And, if you're interested, a Poker Room with video lottery machines in the back. Banquet space, also. So, Gold Dragon Restaurant, Five Stars, I will be ordering from them again. read more

The prices are pretty reasonable for the amount of food and the people are extremely nice when they actually talk to you. But it always seems like it takes forever to get my food, its very hard to find someone to help me (like I dropped my fork on the ground once and after aboit 8 minutes of trying to find my waitress to ask for a new one, I finally just got up and went and asked for one) or get a refill. I dont expect my waitress/waiter to be around EVERY SECOND but I have been in the food industry (waiting, kitchen, hostess) for over 10 years and I usually make at least eye contact/check drinks every 4-5 minutes. The food isn't terrible but I have definitely had better for the price. It usually tastes like it was made an hour ago. Again, fast food industry is every 15-20 minutes gor batches so i understand a large food place pre-frying or sauteeing and adding sauce to order, but it tastes older and is usually pretty stale. read more

Amazing to watch them at Christmas handling a huge volume of orders with such efficiency and calm. The place was swamped when we went to pick up our Christmas dinner. Over an hour and 15 minutes! We live less than 5 minutes away, and the food was cold. They were too busy and dozens of people waiting with no social distancing. This is probably my favorite Chinese food in salem. If you're going to splurge, this is the place to do it. The service is prompt and attentive, though I'd argue that's part of the rustic Chinese food feel. Our waitress was able to give us some great guidance and was especially helpful for family group. Everything you 've heard is 100 % true and every time I go it's top-notch juicy and perfectly cooked. Don't skip the soup! Great Food, Awful service. Beware the waitress will get mad if you don't leave a tip grater than 10 dollars. I always appreciate the people working in the food industries I understand is not an easy job but when you come across people like this just ruines your day. My bill was only $28 and the waitress wanted a $10 dollar tip!!! I handed her a $50 dollars bill and I was going to tip her but when she argued why she had to give me my change back! If I had to tip her. So save yourself some and eat somewhere else I will never go back to a place where they want to keep my change and insist on a tip. read more

The food itself was cold when we received it despite living 0.2 miles away, and it lacking in flavor!! General tso's chicken had a strange flavor to it and szechuan chicken was mostly veggies hardly any meat. Starting my review as I wait for my food... It's a very busy Friday evening, most tables are occupied - a lot of families - and there is a brisk takeout service. They seem to be understaffed tonight. Decor is fairly plain, waitress is helpful in helping me decide on a dish. Service/kitchen is fairly slow compared to typical Chinese restaurants where the dishes are often served within 10 minutes of ordering. It looks like there's just one waitress serving 12 tables right now, plus she's bringing some takeout orders to the front. Prices are very reasonable and there are a good variety of dishes available, but the menu isn't overly large like some Chinese restaurants tend to be. A cup of soup comes with most dishes. The hot & sour soup is more sour than hot - I've never experienced that before. There are spicy undertones in the soup - my preference would be to have the hot emphasized and the sour toned down. Ordered the Mongolian Beef - one my favorite dishes. After about 55 minutes (!), my meal finally arrives. I'm thinking that I could have phoned in a takeout order and had it delivered to my table and it would have been faster. The dish size is generous, but the bowl of rice is on the skimpy side. All the ingredient taste fresh and the beef is very tender. Overall, the dish is tasty and to my liking, though not among the very best Chinese I've ever had. I would rate the food at 4 stars, but I'm knocking down Gold Dragon's overall rating to 3 stars due to the slow service. --- Another visit - not as busy, much quicker service. Barely finished my soup before the entree arrived. General Tso's Chicken was excellent. Had it made extra spicy, flavor was great, chicken nice & tender, and a very generous sized dish. Unfortunately, the Hot & Sour soup was worse than I remembered - the sourness overpowers any "hot" aspect. I'd prefer that it was the other way around. read more

This place has been a family favorite. The food is very good but the service was not it the last visit. I understand it was Christmas but the some reassurance would be nice. I had placed an order on Thursday for pick up on Sunday at 5pm and the guy on the phone confirmed everything with me. Comes day of, there is about 10+ people waiting for their online orders and they were short staffed which i understand but something should have been more organized and most of the people I had talked to while waiting told me they were not approached by any of the employees until they (the customer) had to try to get their attention multiple times. Most of us wanted to cancel our orders and get a refund but the manager refused to do so for us so we had to basically call our banks to dispute the transactions ourselves which is very frustrating. I've even tried asking for the manager to come speak to me but he refused that too. I never got my order because I was promised 5pm but i was there until almost 7pm so I left. read more

I have been coming here since they opened as Gold Dragon and they have always been clean and inexpensive, though at times the service is slow due to a lot of tables and one server. Food has always been super good and the prices reasonable . I am addicted to their Singapore noodle dish. And a bottle of Bud or Bud Light is 99 cents..whats not to like! read more
