Located inside the HK Asian Market. Authentic spicy chinese foods. There is self-served on drinks with free teabags selection: jasmine tea and green tea. We had the grilled whole fish and mapo tofu, both were great, especially the grilled fish, it's huge portion with lot of ingredients for $28. Mapo tofu was okay but it was room temperature when it's served. The wait time was long (30 minute) even the restaurant was quiet when we visited at 2pm. I love love love this place! It was so nice having access to good, authentic Chinese food in a small town like Corvallis. I used to go here almost every week. All their dishes are good so you really can't go wrong with whatever you order. Some of my personal favorites are their spicy popcorn chicken, stir fried beef with cilantro, house special tofu, fried noodles with bbq pork, and their stir fried on choy (this is not on their menu but should be on the white board they have with their specials). Both their stir fried mala and mala tang is really good too. They have a separate menu for it where you can customize exactly what you want to put in it. This place is tucked behind the HK asian grocery store so ambience wise, it is pretty straightforward. I found this by accident. How else could you find it? It is in the back of the Asian market. No sign anywhere indicating there is a restaurant there. Best Chinese food in Corvallis. But, that being said, it is good but not great. I have ordered several times for take out. Generous portions. Most dishes are 1 protein and 1 vegetable. (Beef and broccoli, for example. That's it. No chestnuts, mushrooms, carrots etc. just beef and broccoli oh and some oversized pieces of ginger. Spring rolls were mostly just cabbage. Ratio of entrees is about 1/3 protein, 2/3 veg, but veggies are fresh. Very saucy, tastes jarred- not from scratch, but why not offer mixed vegetables?? It is just a lot of the same taste in every bite, but I will return when needing my Chinese food fix. read more

WOW, what a find! After over a 100 visits to China and rarely finding a restaurant here in the US that even uses Chinese spices....this is the real deal! Twice Cooked Pork Belly was really good, the Ma Po Tofu actually had Sichuan Pepper in it, Singapore Street Noodles are a hit.....but the real winner was the Cumin Fish with red chili pepper! Yummy Yummy is Yuck Yuck! Our group was passing through town and was looking for a place to eat and based on the reviews this place was our choice. I personally like places like this in terms of little no frills hideaways in the back of an independent markets, but once the food arrived we were incredibly underwhelmed and shocked on the past reviews. I will gladly acknowledge that some restaurants have dishes they are known for on the menu and others things that they are not known for. In our case the Orange Chicken tasted soo bad that a few of us picked at it before tossing the entire plate of food in the trash. The sauce was off. We debated whether it was real chicken, or not, how much of each piece was just the breading or whatever mystery meat was inside. I personally observation was that it was a) cooked in overused oil and b) having an orange sauce that wasn't anything I was used to. The pork buns tasted rather low quality of the frozen kind. Stir fried rice noodles with shrimp = fave entree. Lotus leaf sticky rice = AWESOME!! Shrimp shiu mai = also yummy, dim sum classic. Hong kong style bbq pork buns = not good, pretty dry, but seems to be one of the only places in corvallis with this dish. Instead, when ur craving hits, get this: Bamboo shoot pork buns = AMAZING!! Quicksand buns = good and interesting dessert, I had never had these before. For a more classic vanilla-y flavor, I prefer: Custard buns = YUMMY!! Overall, I'm really glad I found this place.
