Positives: General tso chicken--standard rendition, no complaints, would definitely get again! Neutrals: Chicken lo mein--chicken was tender, but the dish lacked flavor overall. Broccoli with garlic sauce--this is the version with a white sauce, I prefer the version with brown, dish was OK overall, just not to my liking. Negatives: Orange chicken noodle bowl--the noodles were quite sour/tangy, definitely not what I was expecting. General tso fried rice bowl--chicken was good as I noted above, the rice was full of cumin and essentially inedible for me. Crab puffs--there was no crab, and I don't mean there wasn't enough crab, I mean these were wontons with cream cheese, and the cream cheese was spoiled...I ate two before I decided something was very wrong and it was not just a preference thing....unfortunately, this resulted in me becoming sick later that evening. My final rating is two stars, primarily for the spoiled crab puffs made with no crab, and the cumin in the rice read more

A new place that replaced the previous Chinese food place in this spot. So far we have been here a few times with family and been very happy with the food and prices. Have tried things such as the dumpling that seem to be in soup most of the time and loved that offering along with the more usual suspects like kung pow dishes and general tso. So far the only thing that really did not hit for us was the choices over noodles (choice of noodles or rice), they could be a bit greasy and too much sauce. I would avoid those next time (Maybe we got the wrong ones) and stick with other parts of the menu. read more

We didn't know the prior Szechuan restaurant was no longer in this space. The street sign that lists the tenants in this strip mall still lists the prior restaurant. I'm glad we happened to drive into the strip mall and noticed it was a different place. Apparently it changed to Uncle Sun apx 3 years ago. We were not very hungry and wanted to play it safe our first visit so we ordered broccoli beef and steamed rice. It was delicious. We did put a lot of hot oil on it - but we love spice and hot oil. The broccoli was bright green fresh and cooked with the perfect crunch. My Tsing Tao beer was icy cold. The pot of hot tea was so-so. Not very flavorful tea. I wish the place was a bit cleaner as there was grease marks on soy sauce bottle, crumbs on floor, etc. lots of cross outs on the menu re pricing and signs in the rest room about this and that. Windows kind of dirty. Etc. However we will return as that broccoli beef was delicious! We asked for a paper Chinese food box for our small amount of leftovers but were given a plastic box. Ugh. I ordered through Instacart, so it could be their fault that the delivery time said 35 minutes and it actually wasn't delivered for over an hour and a half. But it messed up my evening plans. Everything was cold. The spring rolls were soggy, and not especially tasty. The filling was goo, definitely did not seem like fresh ingredients. But they might have been okay if they were hot and crispy. They sent a tiny little bit of sweet and sour, enough for about one spring roll, not four. I also ordered the broccoli beef. It was completely flavorless. I seriously think they may have forgotten to add any seasoning at all, it tasted like it was just boiled in water. It was inedible and I was very hungry by then - I had to leave for my meeting late and dissatisfied. Later I added some seasonings I happened to have on hand and stir fried it again. The beef and the broccoli themselves were okay. There were like 2 tiny pieces of carrot, and nothing else but the watery "sauce." They actually sent enough steamed rice, which often doesn't happen with Chinese takeout. But that wasn't enough to warrant another star. Even with a $10 coupon and "free" delivery , I ended up spending nearly $30 -- after adding a couple more bucks to my stingy tip because the girl who delivered was very sweet -- on one dish and one appetizer. I was craving spicy food and stumbled upon this joint! We were sat down very quickly and our server was very polite. It seems like they're in the middle of remodeling, but it's looking good! We tried them out and very disappointed. First thing the host/waiter is extremely unwelcoming. Does not talk much at all seemed to not be happy being there. The place is dirty. The table the silverware the condiment containers have most likely never ever been cleaned. Big turn off. The food had literally no flavor at all. We won't be back. read more

Long-time customer of previous Szechuan Cafe, sad to see it decline and really wanted Uncle Sun's to be a worthy successor. Won't be going back. Service by very pleasant young man was comically bad. We ordered Wonton Soup but it came with no bowls. I got up to ask for bowls since it was getting cold and we couldn't eat it. Bowls appeared, but no spoons. Brent have bothered since the soup was very bland and the wontons too al dente. We made do. We ordered Cumin Lamb, one of our favorites. Server indicated it was spicy. We asked it to be toned down for my wife who couldn't handle highly spiced food. Server acknowledged. What came was extra spicy (as confirmed on the printed bill). It was inedible - no taste of cumin, only pepper. It was left uneaten. Hot and sour soup was all hot, no sour. Chicken with broccoli was edible but not flavorful. I've traveled extensively through China and understand what chinese cuisine is as well as the flavor profile of cooking in Chengdu. Uncle Ho's is just not very good and hampered by inexperienced staff who, however pleasant, aren't up to speed. For only the third time in my life, I declined to leave a tip. My family loves Uncle Sun! The food is great and authentic. They actually make food spicy here, which I'd a huge plus. The boba milk teas are pretty poor too. My Chinese mom gave it her stamp of approval! It's really easy to place orders online and pick it up. The server/cashier (owner I think?) is really nice and patient cause I've seen some ignorant conversations happen with other customers. Green onion pancakes were over cooked and more like fried onion chips as they were crispy not pancake at all. The walnut shrimp had some that were tasty, the others had too much batter and were over cooked and the batter was hard and the shrimp tough. I had a few other dishes and it was just disappointing as the menu had dishes that really could be tasty but consistently fell short. I gave the three stars as I really liked the menu options, they just needed to be executed better. To the owners I recommend checking out journey to the dumpling in Elk Grove, CA for fabulous food that is similar but executed much better. read more

Everything was delicious, the onion, bell peppers and pineapple in the sweet and sour chicken was done to perfection with crisp still in them.
