I was really debating giving Thai Chili 4 stars, but due to the lack of authenticity, I decided against it. This restaurant is close to OSU, which is honestly where they get most of their business. We were tired from a long drive up from our home state of CA during our anniversary trip and were stopping to sleep near the OR coast. Corvallis was our rest stop to fuel up before heading to our dispersed campsite. I really wanted Thai food, and from my initial scouring of reviews, Thai Chili looked good. Obviously I was keeping my expectations low given that I come from a state that is known for its wide variety of delicious Asian food. The restaurant was small and spartan, and you order up front before you take a seat. I went with the boat noodles because I wanted soup, while my husband went with the tom yum fried rice. The food arrived promptly and piping hot to our table. I was immediately off put by the type of veggies in my broth. There are no broccoli or carrots in traditional boat noodles. I tried the broth, and it was decent. However, there were also no beef balls in the soup, which is standard for this dish. The noodles were fine. I also noticed that the bean sprouts were already included in the soup, as I did not receive a separate plate of herbs for me to put into my bowl. The spice powder was also already mixed into my broth. I've had boat noodles plenty of times to know what goes into the dish and on the side. In contrast, my husband's fried rice was pretty good. It was a little moist but the flavors were good and the texture wasn't mushy. Again, the spices were already mixed into the rice. We both ordered a medium spicy and both of our dishes were pretty spicy. For what we paid, I expected better Thai food, but honestly, what can you truly expect from a tiny college town in the middle of Oregon? While we left with our bellies full, I was not truly satisfied. I'd like to try some of the other noodle dishes if we go through Corvallis again, as others seem to enjoy the stir fried noodle dishes, but Thai Chili is not high on my list. read more

An unassuming little corner restaurant that serves up some tasty food! I had the pad kee mao while my wife had the salad rolls. Both were delicious. I'm surprised by the negative reviews. NEVER AGAIN! Waited 50 minutes for lunch, finally asked for it to go. Requested Bar-B-Q chicken- chef special. Got teriyaki chicken, pale, undercooked with steamed broccoli and white rice. Absolutely disgusting, and tasteless chicken. No sauce for broccoli and rice. Felt like hospital food. The food tasted like the food from the Hawaiian restaurant above. I used to go here all the time; cheap thai but big portions and the food was pretty good. About two years ago they changed things around, increasing their price while literally cutting their portions in half, and the quality got worse. I go back occasionally to see if things changed but they keep getting worse if anything. Many better Thai places in Corvallis. read more

I wouldn't recommend this place even if it was the last and only restaurant in the world. As someone who's worked at a Thai restaurant in Albany with authentic Thai food for two years this place makes me so disappointed. Tonight I decided to give it another try (was disappointed every time I've been, which has always been sparingly and not often) I took a risk and got curry. HUGE MISTAKE. This is said curry..... It's literally CLEAR. curry is supposed to have coconut milk and have a way thicker consistency. I almost thought they gave me the wrong order because I've never seen curry look like this before. It also has no flavor and just tastes like fish oil and spice. I'm not being dramatic when I say this place is not worth your hard earned money. I should have known better after being utterly rendered speechless every time I eat here, but I am a slow learner... I can't even get a refund because I live across town and I refuse to drive back over there or call for a meal replacement because I can't give them the benefit of the doubt that it would actually be any better. read more

Two thumbs down! Met a business associate for an early lunch. Original place scheduled had changed their hours and were not open plus didn't have time to spare. I ordered the bbq chicken with papaya salad medium spicy. The piece of chicken was obviously old from the day before or longer and slightly warmed up. Not good at all. The papaya salad part wasn't bad but wasn't up to par with other Thai places I frequent. Also ordered was Pad See ew with chicken. It was ok, again not up to par. The spice that was supposed to go into the papaya salad seemed to have found its way into the pad see ew. Belly bloated and gassy the rest of the day. Will never return! read more

The presentation of the food was good. The fish dish was flavorful. I am not quite sure what to think of the tea though. I understand that it's call "Thai iced Tea" and it should have tea flavor, but mine was very overpowering. All I tasted was the tea and nothing else. Good thing I like tea, or else it would not go well in my book. [-] There was nothing too negative about the place considering the food was pretty average (I didn't have high expectation for this place to begin with). I've had better food in Portland and other areas, but considering that it's Corvallis, it's decent. I do think that the price they charged for the amount you get were a bit on the pricey end; not what I was expecting. I understand if this place was located in the downtown area, I'd be expecting to pay a hefty amount for tiny portions. Since this was located on the corner of 15 and Monroe, I was hoping more food on that plate. [?] I think I would go back to this place if consensus among friends wanted to go there, but I would not bring it up. Ordered the Pad Thai Noodle at a freshman level and it tasted like straight maple syrup. I had the Massaman curry with tofu and a spice level of "graduate". The curry consistency was perfect, and the rice texture was ideal. Not too sticky, not overly dry. I did find that my curry lacked spice, I added some chili oil to try to adjust it. Overall I really enjoyed it, the curry was a bit more nutty than I liked but I still really liked it. Welp... I gave it another try because I felt it was my fault for not reading the menu closer. I ordered the yellow curry and specified vegan. I ate my food and it seemed to be all vegan tell I got the the very bottom of the soup bowl where there were 3-4 little pieces of chicken. This is absolutely NOT OKAY. I ordered the Korean BBQ for $12 and this is what I received. This is not right. The meat portion was tiny and definitely was not the correct cut. When I crave noodles, I have a hardcore craving. It doesn't help that I had that craving for days on end but opening my cupboard to empty part of the shelf where the noodles greet me with comfort is depressing. I eat here weekly now. I order usually Pad See Ew or Pad Thai. I always order a side of delicious peanut sauce to go along with either entree. I keep expecting this little hole in the wall joint to disappoint and it hasn't. I've eaten here enough times to say it's a great spot. The first time I made this decision that this place is great didn't even involve my meal or own experience. I watched as one of the young employees educated a man on the spice rack that guests can use to add heat to their meal. She explained some of her preferences and the guest was noticeably delighted that she took her time to show him something new. If they aren't busy I've ordered and had my freshly prepared meal in five minutes. If they're busy I've only waited a little past ten minutes to get my food and the staff regularly checks in throughout the meal so you never feel forgotten. read more

And that reign might end after tonight's experience. I ordered take-out and got the Pad Pong Karee, junior spice. THERE IS NO SPICE in this. And there was no rice with it, when it is supposed to come with rice. Thai Chili has yet to come up with some sort of consistency in their spice level, and, frankly, their service. It's always hit or miss with the service, and more recently (I've come here for the past 6 years), with their food. I 100% recommend this place, but tip for any customer, call and place your order with them expecting a 20 - 45 minute wait time, 5 -6 pm being their busiest time. Update: I take it back. What a terrible experience. Placed my order through their website @ 6:30 pm, we live about 20 min away, website said food would be ready in 20 min. When I arrived at 7:10 the guy at the counter told me they did not have my order in their system. I showed him my emailed receipt / order with order number. He said there was nothing he could do. I then showed him my bank statement where the $72.20 had already been deducted. He still wasn't going to do anything about it, he said they hadn't been paid since he had no record. I was about to lose it when at that moment my order miraculously arrived. He asked if I still wanted it or if I wanted to cancel. I said I drove 20+ min for my families dinner. I asked if he could expedite the order. He said there wasn't much he could do. 2 HOURS LATER I finally got my food, oh and they forgot to give me the rice I ordered. The food is not very good. The fried tofu almost inedible (super firm and chewy), my Pad Pong Karee is oil soaked with standing water and no chicken. My wife liked her Vegetarian Pho. We love this place! Best Thai food in Corvallis, but today the white rice was not fully cooked, and same thing happened with the pineapple rice. The potatoes in the curry chicken were hard as well. Also, I bought $45 dollars worth on food, 0 level spicy, and I asked for a couple of little tiny containers of Chilli sauce; well, they say that I have to pay extra for them.
