Kkoki is a family favorite! On our visit in September 30th we had Gina as our server, and she was AWESOME!! Very friendly and personable. She made some great suggestions and we all had a great time. Thanks Gina! P.S. Thanks rice cake!! read more

Driving through Salem? Looking for Korean BBQ? This place is it! The tables are spaced out, and the vent hoods are low to the grills which keeps customers from getting smoke in our eyes. The chicken is cut thinner so it cooks faster than other Korean BBQs that I've been to. The menu has photos so when you order, you clearly know what you're getting. The All You Can Eat (AYCE) menus have the standard menu with Chicken and Pork The higher price menu includes Beef and seafood. The food is really good here. Come check it out read more

This place was definitely going off! You can tell it's a local favorite. The meat portions were huge! Much bigger than places down here in SoCal. The service was good! Only thing that got me is that they don't have rice paper. That would have made the meal perfect! All in all this place is a cool little vibe. read more

Been to this location twice now - It's pretty good! The first time it seemed like drinks took forever, the second time drinks were out before our food was. The first time we picked standard but moved up to premium and ended up just doing premium the second time too. All the meat was delicious, very flavorful and good cuts of meat. Drinks were delicious. Banchan was yummy as well, I just wish they had refilled them more often. Although it is a "do it yourself" type of place, it feels like unless your meat is all on the grill you'll struggle to find your waiter for anything else. The place has vaulted ceilings, dark aesthetics and was very clean. Even the bathroom was spotless. They're also very conveniently located right off the highway and are in a strip mall so ample places to park. read more

Walked in wasnt too busy between came at a great time right before dinner rush around 4:30 pm. Sat right away the place was clean and the decor was really cool been to korean bbq before this one looks really new. All you can eat you can choose from 3 different price points each one has more items to pick from I did the middle. The meat came out fast and was delicious and the sides I loved which is unlimited with rice. Got japchae noodles my favorite. Was so full at the end so be sure u dont over order I think they charge for excessive meat left. Love it gonna come back for more waitress was so sweet and friendly. Only gripe was no salt and pepper mixture. read more

I like This place better then GEN in Portland . I always get the best service here and fyi to people who have never ate all you can eat Kbbq you only get 3 selections per round doesn't matter what kbbq spot in the USA you go to and being from ktown la area it's the same all over . I'm also Comparing this place to GEN in Portland because quality there is ass . Also side note helpers never trust yelpers reviews that only review one type of food or have one review shows lack of flavor palette in my opinion . Give this place a shot they are worth the price in my opinion and I season my food well . read more

Sat 5:15 pm Party of 2 Post Thanksgiving crowd is light, service was friendly and excellent, quick proactive support. We ordered from the Premium package $34 and enjoyed all of our choices; beef Kalbi, beef and chicken bulgogi, teriyaki chicken, spicy chicken. We had five panchan (sides) and 2 of three sauces. They forgot the oil and salt. Servings are 3 types per round and will be proportional to the number of ppl at your table. For 2 ppl a serving of kalbi is one piece each. Our server checked on us often and brought our requests efficiently, I asked and heard that even on busy nights the service is good. There's a front section and then a large wall that separates an entire back seating area with a bar and slot machines. We were seated there by the windows which was less crowded. Enjoyed four rounds after hiking around Silver Falls. Great end to a great day. Thanks! read more

Decent Korean BBQ spot with nice staff, but the all-you-can-eat experience is frustratingly slow. It takes forever to get the next round of meats once you finish the first one, and they're very strict about only allowing one order of LA galbi at a time. Grill changes also drag on because of burnt bits. Feels understaffed overall. Food itself was okay, but the pacing really killed the vibe for AYCE. read more

We came to the restaurant in a party of 11, and were seated at a large table with several stoves to cook on. Our server was great. Very attentive and responded to the slightest wave. We ordered the Premium package, and were generally very happy with it. The different beef meats we ordered were all very good. Hawaiian beef was by far the favorite of all at our table. Brisket was pretty good, but kind of plain. The others were very good. Chickens were great, too. My only complaints were these: 1. Everyone at the table has to order the same package. I understand (kind of) the reasoning for this. It's to keep people from sharing with others who might have ordered a different package. However, some more adventurous diners might want some of the more exotic foods that aren't available in the standard or premium packages. 2. The vegetable dishes were pretty tiny. You can order more, as the packages are all-you-can-eat, but they don't come with much by default. 3. The shrimp comes with tails, shells, heads, and legs. Yuck!!! For the price of the food, the shrimp should be ready to cook and eat. We will go back again some day, but it won't be a regular place due to the pretty high prices. read more

Kkoki Korean BBQ - Barbeque Near Me - Salem, Oregon

Too pricey for my taste and for an Asian setting restaurant the waiter was a bit rude and it felt like she was serving us at a burger joint . She was white and yes she was always late with our orders , making a lot of mistakes , keep turning our cooker low and it took forever for it to cook . I have ( word of mouth) notified my foodie peoples that customer service is not good , food not as good as it look way lesser portion than what it looks on the pictures . Don't believe what you see on the pictures and the prices are way out of wack . No no way too pricey for lame customer service and looks , portions sucks . There are other Korean restaurants way better than this . read more

We recently went back and enjoyed a night out with the family. We were seated promptly with a party of six. 3 adults and 3 kids. It was fairly busy and the service was great and friendly. We enjoyed extra kimchee, fresh garlic and jalapeños and the sauces for every dish we could order! We ate good and can't wait to go back! read more

During my business trip to Portland, I began to crave Korean food. As a Korean American who grew up in Koreatown Los Angeles, I'd like to believe that I can differentiate good Korean restaurants from the bad. And Kkoki falls under the category of good. Let me explain why: 1. As a KBBQ establishment, the quality of their meat is above average. I ordered the family meal combo #2 with brisket, rib eye, pork belly, and pork jowl. They don't allow AYCE (all you can eat) for people dining alone so I had to go with a family combo. 2. Their bean paste stew 된장찌개 tasted perfect and I asked for it extra spicy 3. Rib eye was very tender. Brisket was uncomplainable. Pork Jowl was so good and pork belly was mediocre. 4. Service was great and I received Korean level customer service so I tipped him $20 for my meal. I'm in Portland for another week so will try to visit this place again before I fly back to California. read more

This is quite the hot spot in Salem. Located conveniently near the shopping mall we decided to stop in. The staff does a great job of explaining how it works. They bring you the meat, you cook it at your table with your own burner at the table. It's a great set up. They bring you the veggies and rice which you can have as much as you want for the base price of $27.95. They come back and check on you frequently. We got there about 5:30 and it was pretty empty. It was very full when we left around 7:00. It looks like they had beer and wine. As well as soft drinks. No take out allowed. All in all a good time. We learned a lot about the different foods. I'll definitely try this place again. read more

Kkoki Korean BBQ - Menu - Barbeque Near Me - Salem, Oregon

This was, without question, the worst Korean BBQ AYCE experience I've ever had. First, the rules make no sense: no matter how many people are at the table, each round is limited to only three items. If it's truly "all you can eat," why can't we repeatedly reorder the dishes we actually like? The meat quality was already mediocre, and yet they still ration it every round like it's some premium cut. Second, the first two tiers of the menu are mostly pork and chicken, and the quality was poor. The only difference with the most expensive tier was adding beef tongue and a few frozen seafood items--absolutely not worth the price. It felt like a huge upsell for very little value. Lastly, the service was awful. I understand a restaurant can be busy and food might come out slowly, but our server didn't refill our water even once during the entire meal. Since I only wanted to order what I actually enjoyed, I didn't always use all three item slots (am I supposed to order things I don't want just to "fill" the round?). Instead of being helpful, the server repeatedly--and rudely--asked if we were sure we weren't going to order all three items, as if we were being difficult. For an AYCE restaurant, this kind of restrictive policy and attitude is unacceptable. I paid nearly $40 and somehow still left hungry because they rushed us out at last call. I will never come back. Extremely disappointing. read more

A group of five of us went. We did the supreme all you can eat. Not a fan of the two hour time limit. It should be at the least three hours. A few people ordered some cocktails. They all stated they were way too sweet to enjoy. A tip for cooking the meats, make sure your waiter increases the gas to high, to cook the food. Otherwise time passes, and the meat doesn't cook quick enough. For the price, it was only so-so for me. That was some of the saltiest meat I have ever had. You get rice and some other small appetizers. Service was excellent. Our waiter took allergy issues seriously and handled it well. I would pass if invited again. That overly seasoned meat was too much for my liking. read more

We went here to celebrate my husband getting his master's degree. The soju drinks are soooo delicious and the food was amazing. The variety was impressive and the service was great. Delicious food, slow service. My group got the Premium package B that was $32. Supreme package A was $34 and package C was $27. Their portions seem to have gotten smaller over the last year or so.. The quality is still good. I don't agree with the "3 rounds" or 2 hour time limit. How is that considered AYCE? The server was nice, but he was rushing us and discouraged us from going for the 3rd round...which ended up being skimpy compared to the first 2.. We finished it all and left full, but not gut busting full like other times. I'll keep going back because I like the food and it's the only KBBQ place in town, but not without complaining lol read more

What happened at Kkoki Salem? It has literally been our favorite place for several years. We always do birthdays, events and date nights there. Great food and really fun servers. Went last night and every server looked upset. We had to ask several times for drinks or other things. Did they get a new manager? The vibe and service has totally changed. Usually that tells me management is bad and making servers who used to enjoy their job want to quit. I hope they fire whoever caused this. Really hoping I don't have to stop going there if they cause our favorite server to quit. read more

I absolutely recommend! Kkoki Korean BBQ in Salem on Center Street. They offer an incredible menu. There is something for everyone! Take a look at my pictures. They document part of the menu. The vegetables were fresh, and the cuts of meat were of great quality. Each option was filled with flavor and was quite satisfying! We have no complaints or recommendations for improvement. The dining area is clean and well organized. We liked that the booths were large. Overall, including the bathroom facilities, the restaurant was very clean. So far, out of the Korean BBQS, this one is our new favorite! Tag me and tell me what you think! I don't believe you will regret your visit! read more

I did not have the bbq, so I cannot speak to that. I ordered a few things from other parts of menu, and have to say that I was quite disappointed in all of them. First of all the steamed egg. I was expecting Chinese or Japanese style egg where the egg was silky and smooth. I don't know if Korean steamed egg is meant to be over cooked like this, but it's was very honey comb like and not smooth at all. Flavor was ok though. Seafood pancake was very very greasy and dense. And the only seafood in there were tiny shrimp and mussels. When I say tiny, I meant tiny - like the size of my pinky fingernail. Looks like the cheapest frozen seafood mix they could find. Tofu stew was just off. Usually Korean tofu soup use soft tofu. These were not soft, but also has the texture of scramble eggs. The seafood in there is probably from the same mix as the pancake. Tiny tiny tiny shrimps and mussels. Giving it two stars because the service was nice. read more

Food was good but their rules on ordering meat plates was disappointing and ridiculous. We had a group of 7 and sat us at a table with two burners. The rules were explained, three plates at the time but even though you have separate burners the three plates had to be the same for the whole table? What? So one half of the group wanted shrimp and the other half didn't eat shrimp but the whole table had to get shrimp. Stupid! One half of the group wanted spicy beef, the other didn't like spicy but the whole table had to get spicy beef. The service was moderate at best, I'm pretty sure he was new but it was slow and spotty. No way I'm going back. Rules were stupid for an all you can eat place. read more

While teaching in Salem, OR our team of instructors dined here one evening. We were seated almost as soon as we walked through the front door. I have not been to a Korean BBQ restaurant before, unless you want to count one in Hong Kong about 50 years ago. The server explained the process to us in "broken English." I have a hearing deficit, so the other instructors had to explain the process to me . Once we made a selection it took only a couple of minutes for the raw meats and vegetables to arrive. There was good selection of beer/ales on tap in the bar area, where we had been seated. Back to the food; every time we finished what we had cooked the server was back asking what else we would like. She changed the cooking top/grill every time. The food was very good and the server received a tip that was substantial. Her service was exceptional. The only negative was I ordered a noodle dish "to go" for my wife. She had a major sinus headache and did not want to go out this night. The noodles were "greasy." Her system did not tolerate them well the next morning. This would have been a 5 Star review if not for the noodles. We will be back in Salem in August, and plan on dining here. This time it will be my wife and I. No Noodles. Bottom line: I would recommend this establishment. read more

At around $30 per person, and no solo seatings, you better have a friend who's just as hungry for protein as you. Assuming you have such a friend, though, and want to splurge a bit paying a premium for the experience and the variety, kkoki is great food at a reasonable price. Being traditional American Korean barbeque, you order raw meat courses and cook them yourself using provided tongs on a covered gas grill that takes up the center of the table. Vegetarian options exist, but are limited... I wouldn't recommend it if that's your diet. However, there are plenty of fish and poultry options. All that said, here are my top picks and top misses: Don't bother with the shrimp (peel and eat - too much work in situ and not particularly well selected) and don't get tricked into overindulging on the complimentary rice. The brisket, honey chicken, and skirt steak are also totally skippable, though not offensive in any way. The must tries are the short ribs (any variety) the bulgolgi (beef and pork in particular), the chili pork loin (not spicy, just flavorful as anything), the pork jowl (trust me, even if you think you won't like it, you will) and for the potentially more adventurous, the soy squid. 4/5. Price could do with a bit of knocking down, even for all you can eat, but the short ribs are almost worth it alone. read more

This review will be short and sweet since I am sure all of you have been to a Korean BBQ before so you know the drill. This review is for this location. Food was fresh and awesome tasting. Don't let the amount of cars in the lot determine how busy it is inside. There were a small amount of cars in the lot (maybe three at the most) so we thought the place would be dead. We were wrong. Korean K-Pop videos and music filled the room, and there was a good amount of tables taken up. The atmosphere was very conducive for Korean BBQ Table was clean and grill was spotless. The one negative is that one of our plates had dried food on it so that was a small downer. Tip of the day: Don't let your eyes be bigger than your stomach. I hate wasting food and we were hungry and ordered three items per round. What we should have done is order as little as possible and order more if needed. We ordered two rounds of three items each and we were STUFFED! Not one to waste food, we pushed through and ate everything we ordered. All in all, a great experience and will visit again if I am in the area and super hungry. read more

Reasonable priced, although the webpage prices were out of date (28 but it was 34), and the server stopped taking orders after 2 hour and not 1.5 hour as stated online. The meat was okay....fresh but lower quality cuts. They bring very large servings of cheap cuts, eg bulgogi, and small of more expensive cuts, eg galbi. All of the sauces and marinades were very sweet. Honestly, if you like southern bbq, you're fine. If you like high quality Korean bbq, skip it. Service was good. read more

This place was super busy, but the wait was well worth it in my opinion. This was my first time here at this restaurant and the food was really amazing and both me and my wife left with really full bellies and were really satisfied. The only thing that could have been better was our server and the fact that he wasn't really attentive to our needs and when we need more meet or our drinks refilled. Overall I'd say it was good. But I think that I have fairly high expectations when it comes to Korean barbecue. Living in Seattle, I'm exposed to several different Korean barbecue restaurants, and more often than not. They never disappoint. This place did not disappoint. However, it didn't really live up to what I was expecting when it comes to Korean barbecue. The ambience is nice. The people were friendly and the service is fast which you can't beat that but overall I would say if there's nowhere else to go definitely visit here but if you have other options, I would look at those first. read more

This is my second time eating Korean BBQ. It was quite a unique experience. I enjoyed most of it. The cuts of meat were excellent and the all you can eat was quite interesting. I do think it was a little expensive but not terrible. What I didn't like was how hard it is to figure out how to get the shrimp meat out! It just ended up being a difficult task, that ended in mutilated exoskeleton mess, head 'juice' squirting everywhere and shrimp poop debacle. All that for two bites of what was somewhat left. Aside from that, service was great, atmosphere was great and experience was fun! I would recommend this for that alone! Just find a better way to shrimp man! read more
