Shrimp with Garlic sauce and shrimp fried rice.
Angela O.

Chang Fu is located in a busy strip mall right off of 96th and Michigan Rd. This is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. The food is always consistent and the staff is straight forward. Sometimes it's busy and it's best to call ahead. If you don't call ahead it shouldn't take to long to receive your food. My go to is one of the lunch specials. I tend to lean towards the Shrimp & Garlic meal and instead of the rice that comes with the meal I will get shrimp fried rice (extra charge) and add $1 or $2 worth of extra shrimp. I will then go with a plain egg roll or shrimp eggroll. I love this place and give them repeat business on a regular basis.

I love this place! I've been coming here for a long time! It's always fresh and hot! I ordered, the boneless spareribs and onion fried rice with chicken wings and crab Rangoon. What keeps me going time after time is the flavors, the sweet tangy sauce, crispy chicken, and tender rice. My order was ready on time which is great service to me.

Sesame Chicken Lunch Special

Chang Fu is a pretty run-of-the-mill American Chinese food restaurant. What I can say is that the meals are affordable ($6.95 for lunch specials) and they give large portion sizes. The food itself is nothing special. I tried two of the five lunch specials we got: Curry Chicken w/ Onion - Classic Chinese curry flavor. The onions were crunchy but didn't have the sharp and pungent flavor of raw onion. The chicken was not great - it had a very unpleasant rubbery texture. The closest comparison I can give is an overcooked red snapper. It was possibly tenderized a little too much? Sesame Chicken - Normal (and good) sesame chicken all the way around. Sticky cornstarch thickened sweet and savory sauce. The chicken still retained a small bit of crisp even after being doused with the sauce. We got fried rice with both, which was pretty standard, nothing much to talk about. The strange thing was that we got ordered 5 lunch specials but only got 3 fortune cookies. What's up with that?

Chang Fu has been around for so long because it's tasty and reliable. It's in a convenient location for lots of folks and has ample parking! My husband loves their Szechuan Chicken which is packed with veggies and sauce.

I got a hugeee order of Chinese food from here for our Chinese New Years celebration. They have some good Americanized Chinese dishes. I was a little disappointed with the quality of the food, but it is worth the price you're paying for it! Recommendations: get steamed dumplings, the fried were a little too dry for my taste. GET the Mushu pork! If you've never had, it's super fun, you wrap up the pork and onions in a little asian pancake with hoisin sauce. This was my favorite authentic dish we got, very delish even warmed up for leftovers! Chicken fried rice (not pictured) was pretty good too. The hot and sour soup was a little thick we watered it down a bit to get the right consistency. Servings are HUGE we have so many leftovers! A plus: they gave us plenty of free white rice and fortune cookies which I love. The fortunes were pretty funny

Maybe not the place to go for a sit down experience, but as a Chinese takeout place, this checks all my boxes. Great food, fast service, and generous portions.

Chang Fu is my go to Chinese resturant. They are always so friendly and food is great! Tonight I had a pork egg roll and beef and broccoli ( my favorite). Tasty and hit the spot!!!

Rainy night...this calls for Chinese takeaway! Opted for #89. Bean Curd W. Szechuan Style from Chang Fu. A vibrantly red sauce with a hint of spice, and I added broccoli for good measure. (which had a nice fresh crunch to it) Not pictured - because it was quickly devoured: vegetable egg roll. Super crispy, not greasy and full of flavor. When I walked in to pick it up, they were washing a super fresh looking bunch of bok choy - a great sign! Hot, fresh and delish...not always easy with Chinese food.

The lobster roll was soggy and honestly? Too much. I prefer a classic lobster roll - warm, lobster, bread that still has a little crunch to it (just the tiniest bit), butter - but not too much. This was soggy and the celery situation took away from the essence of a lobster roll for me. I've never liked the lobster salad rolls, and I did make sure there would be no mayo - but I think this was a bit much. Too much butter. Too many toppings. The flavor wasn't amazing. My dad really liked the perch. So much that he didn't let me try it. Lol but it looked good! The fried okra was solid. Kinda hard to mess that up, so no complaints there. Same thing with the fish tacos as the lobster roll. They're very busy. I like tasting my food - not piling the toppings on so things get lost. So, I scraped pretty much everything off. The fish was good! I got my mom the fried oysters. No complaints. Her meal came with two sides, so I got greens and Mac and cheese. I didnt try the Mac, but they said the greens were top tier. They had a nice flavor, but they're spicy - so avoid them if you can't deal with a lot of spice - probably red pepper. They threw in a crab cake for free and I thought that was really sweet of them. I didn't like the way it looked on the inside, so I only nibbled at it. Definitely not what this Maryland girl is used to... the winner is still Commisson Row on crab cakes in Indy so far. Anyway! Cute little tucked away spot, small parking lot, but spacious inside. Quite a few tables and chairs and fresh seafood in the cases. I'd go again and try some different things based on other reviews.

My husband thought this West side location would be nicer and less of a cheap atmosphere. We were welcomed right away and taken to a booth in the bar. It was private and the table was large. Our waitress was also the bartender. She did a great job as she kept an eye on us and also her bar responsibilities. We had the Red and Black. This entree was for two. We added 1/2lb of sausage. We had two large lobster tails. Snow crab with huge meaty legs. About 2 dozen shrimp, mussels and potatoes as well as corn on the cob. All was delicious. We were pleased with our meal and enjoyed all the juicy sauce associated with it I would give this restaurant 5 stars but the building and decoration, etc are dated and the atmosphere is that of a cheap restaurant. Will we go back? You betcha just not right away. Too much fresh seafood to eat on a regular basis

I ordered the plant power combo with the juicy special sauce, medium. It comes with 3 corn cobs, 1 lb of broccoli, and 2-3 potatoes. I also had a side of rice. My boyfriend ordered a create your own combo with snow crab legs, lobster tail, and crawfish with the juicy special sauce - medium. Now, to be entirely candid, the building itself looks a touch weathered at first glance but once you step inside, the décor is absolutely flawless. Being from Orange County, I have been on an absolute crusade to find genuinely authentic, coastal-caliber seafood since arriving here, and let me tell you, the search is officially over! The arrival was completely seamless, thanks to a sweet little dedicated parking lot, and the exterior of the venue is just as cute as a button. The moment I crossed the threshold, the lovely cashier greeted me with the warmest energy and elegantly walked me through the day's catch. What truly blew me away and frankly, brought a little tear to my eye was the sheer depth of knowledge and passion they share about their sourcing. They explained exactly where the fish came from and how it was caught with such beautiful, undivided commitment. That level of bespoke service is precisely what turns a first-time guest into a lifelong devotee. I opted for a Fish Taco prepared with a brilliantly unsalted catch, and it was an absolute revelation. The fish was incredibly soft, delicate, and practically melted in my mouthnot a hint of chewiness in sight. It was simply bursting with that clean, ocean-fresh flavor. A flawless, five-star experience across the board for the taste, the charm, and the beautiful soul of this place. I shall most certainly be making this a regular stop on my lunch rounds!

We ordered the lobster hoagie and hush puppies. Both were... fine. Not bad, but nothing that wowed us or justified the anticipation. The flavors were there in a basic sense, but it all felt a little underwhelming for a spot that's billing itself as a seafood destination. What really got me was the market side of things. The seafood on display just looked sad not fresh, not vibrant, not the kind of stuff that makes you want to throw something in a bag and take it home to cook. I fully understand we're landlocked in Indiana and truly fresh seafood is a challenge, but if that's your entire concept, the product has to be able to hold its own. Left feeling more disappointed than anything. I so wanted to love this place and will be rooting for them to level up but for now, this Florida girl will keep searching.
