Family run small take out with a typical large menu. They do have a couple of tables inside too. I really enjoy their roast pork egg foo young-- two generous egg-based patties and oyster sauce based gravy, with jasmine rice. The gravy is thick, creamy and smooth. I also like their Mongolian Beef and their wontons with garlic sauce. This is a trustworthy choice for take out chinese. read more

We love China Inn! We've been ordering from this location for over a decade. It's also our Christmas Eve tradition to order takeout from here. They have the BEST crab Rangoon! read more

I remember when this place was called Eastern China. I went here often as I lived and worked nearby. The name of the place changed but the taste and quality of the food has not - it was still amazing! The Mongolian beef and chicken have the best sweet and spicy sauce. The crab Rangoons are always filled with filling, crunchy and fresh. I live a little further away now but will make the trip because I haven't found a good Chinese place on the north side. I'm so glad I made my way back to this place! read more

Pretty solid Chinese food. The online ordering is a bit confusing with some items not being able to order unless a family pack, but will certainly return read more

The store advertises in their menu online that the crab Rangoon comes with sweet chili sauce. After getting back home with my meal, I found that was not included. I called the establishment and they said no it wasn't on there and I had to show them and talk to three different people and they still Refused to say they had the chili sauce. They said they didn't have any such thing they refused to take the cost of the crab Rangoon off my bill and they refuse to bring me any of the sweet chili sauce that was advertised. The first two people I talk to were very unhelpful the third person which I assume was an owner or manager was indignant and condescending. Attached are screenshots, showing their menu as advertised on their website. Any restaurant who can't make this right when they have an error like this should not be in business. I don't recommend this establishment to anyone. read more

I decided to give this spot a try as it is close to my doggie daycare and boy am I glad that I did. I placed my order online via beyond menu and it was ready on time. I was greeted by a nice lady when I entered and she got my order thanked me and handed it to me and I was on my way. The hot and sour soup was great! I also got the crab Rangoon (Yum) and steamed dumplings. The chicken and vegetables was great and I got at least three meals out of my order. read more

I've reviewed China Inn before and it is still my favorite Chinese carry out restaurant. The food and the value is great. They are struggling right now as Carmel is building a roundabout at 96th and College Ave. You can still get to China Inn and the other businesses by taking Real St (turns into 96th Street) East from Rangeline. Please help support these businesses. read more

LOVE! We had been long-time customers of House of Cheung at 71st and Keystone, which sadly closed its doors a couple months ago. Since then, we've looked for a new Chinese restaurant and were disappointed with options around Broad Ripple. The other night, we tried China Inn, and we've found our new place!! Their Crab Rangoons are the BEST! Also their Sweet & Sour Chicken is the best we've had, very fresh, flavorful, and evenly cooked. We will be regulars here! read more

Stopped for lunch as its the closest place to grab a bit to eat. There's Teo other restaurants in this little strip mall but needed something quick. You get what you pay for. I got the General Tso's lunch meal which comes with a soup. I got the wonton soup as egg drop was the other option and not my favorite. Honestly could have done without the soup. The meal itself was ok. I expected a bit more spice to the dish. Not a bad place to eat. read more

They have the best dumplings in the area, and they're super friendly. Their other food is just alright. They add raw onion to their fried rice for some reason, which I really hate. read more

I got the shrimp fried rice and lo mein noodles. The food was a 5/10, I was hungry and craving Chinese food by the way. The service was a 0/10. Upon entering their establishment I was not greeted only stared at. Rude employee rushed me making my payment, very stern remarks, and gave off a vibe like they did not want me back so I definitely will not be going back read more

I ordered from here. I ordered moo shoo shrimp. They did not deliver the plum sauce. I called them. They argued with me and insisted they had. My husband, daughter and myself all looked. There is no plum sauce. He rudely said well you can come pick some up if you want. Ummm no I just paid over $20 to have food delivered and now you want me to come pick something up that you forgot. Very rude. Will NEVER order from here again read more

Eastern China is only a short walk from my office building, which makes it a great option when I'm in a pinch and tired of sandwich delivery. In all honesty, the menu is the same standard for all small Chinese joints around Indy that are primarily take-out/delivery establishments. You know the ones I'm talking about. You walk in, there are only a handful of tables, a dozen pictures of dishes posted high on the wall, and a tri-fold menu waiting for you at the counter. All the dishes are assigned a letter/number combo. Yeah, we all know what I'm talking about. Although the menus may be the same, the quality of the various establishments varies. Eastern China does not. It's consistent, decent quality, Americanized Chinese take-out. And a great on-the-go option. The service could be smiley-er, but never misses on efficiency. I feel lucky to have this little place so close to the office! read more

China Inn - Very small dining area, if you'd like to sit. Mostly carry-out here, I believe. - Chinese Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

This place is outstanding. This has to be the best Chinese restaurant in all of Indianapolis. The location is a little hard to find but so worth it. We come back every chance we get. read more

Food was great with all four items we ordered and owners were very kind. Prices were extremely reasonable with good size portions

Tried this place versus Mandarin House because of the GrubHub delivery via yelp. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't that great either. And I am extremely disappointed that the special instructions I entered for my order were not followed at all. My husband hates garlic, but apparently they missed the 'no garlic' on his chicken and vegetable entrée. I asked for straight lo mein, no vegetables, for my daughter... loaded with veg. Needless to say half of it is pretty much in the trash, which is disappointing. I'm making myself eat some of the fried rice and lo mein that's left in the fridge just so I don't waste too much. For the record my husband loved their hot and sour soup. And the best part of the whole experience was the terrific attitude and smile of the delivery guy. read more

Seriously, best Chinese food (recommend carry out) I've found anywhere, spent many years in St. Louis and this is tops. My foodie family loves the special egg foo young, making special trips to pick it up. Had the house special chop Suey tonight, absolutely fabulous fresh rich shrimp, tender beef, pork, great sauce. Overall every time I go there seems like everything is fresh. Don't let the appearance of the storefront fool you. read more

Ordered something simple: small spare ribs and a pint of house lo mein. Upset they didn't have the reusable containers for the lo mein and such like I usually get, but you get over it. Got home, fed my dogs, took them out, settled down and got ready to eat and I was given fried rice instead of lo mein. Yes I should have checked it, but you kind of assume the easiest orders won't get messed up when you're the only person ordering. I was charged for lo mein as well, which is what upset me the most. After driving all the way back (15 min-isn't too bad, but still not favourable), I explained the issue and the food was took from me with no apology given and they started talking to each other in a hostile tone, quite loudly, which isn't something you expect from a professionalism standpoint. Haven't tried the food yet (so I'm giving it three stars in hopes the food will earn that third star), but the customer service, professionalism, and order accuracy is very lacking. Hoping the food is better than the rest of my experience. read more

This is a standard Chinese food dive with standard shrimp and pork egg rolls. An order of crab rangoon is free if you spend more than $20, just make sure to ask for it. The chow mei fun is a family favorite (thin rice noodles with bok choy, other veggies, and choice of protein). We love the chicken with mushrooms which is packed with white chicken and button mushrooms in a brown sauce. The crunch from the celery, carrots, and nuts in the chicken almond ding offers texture that you normally don't get with Chinese food. The sweet and sour shrimp are jumbo sized so only five pieces fit into a pint, but their fluffy and crispy texture leave me wanting more. If it's close to your work or home, stop by and try it. Don't expect the curry or kung pao chicken to be spicy though. Request heat if you want some. They offer delivery, but I've never had success with them being able to take down my address. Their website provides a menu and prices. www.easternchinaindy.com read more

We ordered a spicy shrimp combo and only received 4 pieces of shrimp and the rest was entirely onion (see photo) which was completely inedible. When we called the restaurant they refused to listen and amend their wrong doing. The bourbon chicken was dry and the crab Rangoon was all cream cheese. This restaurant has definitely declined since the last time we ordered. Would not recommend. read more

I've been a customer for 6 or 7 years and their food is consistently of good quality. Delicious, fresh, and plentiful. Try the crab rangoon! read more

Sure, this place looks really shady, but the food is excellent. After hearing good things about this place from several of my friends, I decided to finally try it out. I was not disappointed. I had the General Tso's Chicken lunch special with egg drop soup and fried rice. The fried was so-so, but I usually don't eat a whole lot of the rice at Chinese places anyways. The egg drop soup wasn't anything too out of the ordinary, but it was delicious. The General Tso's was excellent. For the price, you can tell they definitely use higher quality ingredients than most Chinese restaurants. The sauce was outstanding. This may be my new favorite General Tso's chicken around, edging out my previous favorite from Beijing City in Carmel. Highly recommended! . read more

Kids, if you're getting take out and you're in the area, do yourself a favor and go to China Inn. We live in Louisville and have tried several different Chinese takeout places and have not been this happy in quite some time. Friday night, quick in and out, but the kicker is the food was fantastic. Like, way above expectation. My wife got sweet and sour chicken and oh my, sooooo much chicken. Not just quantity, but quality. It was really good, all white meat, very tasty. I had the Kung Pao, it was solid, had a nice spiciness. Although it wasn't as fresh, I don't have any real complaints. The egg rolls were good, and a couple of crab Rangoon's found their way into the bag and they were awesome. Overall, five stars when it's compared to all other Chinese take out I've had recently. read more

Soooo bad!!!! Order chicken & broccoli, wonton soup and chicken on a stick. It all tasted horrible if it had any flavor at all

Genuinely the worst Chinese food I have ever put in my mouth. After three bites I couldn't put more of Eastern China's awful food in my mouth. The "chicken" was undercooked and the rice tasted like it was cooked in toilet water. I would eat tree bark for the rest of my life before eating at Eastern China again. Stay away if you don't want to become physically ill. read more
