    Beef w Broccoli lunch
    Katherine A.

When you walk in and hear Frank Sinatra singing and see photos of Marilyn Monroe, you'll know your in the right place. Imperial Palace is a locally owned family business featuring traditional Chinese cuisine. During our visit, the owner was working alone and the dining room was full. They have only seven tables and those can fill quickly with the lunch crowd. He worked quickly to bring beverages and take orders. I had the Kung Pao Chicken and my husband had the Beef with Broccoli lunches. The food came out in about 15 minutes. Everything is prepared fresh. The egg roll was delicious and light. The ingredients in the Kung Pao Chicken were super fresh and the spice level was on the mild side for me. I wish I had requested more spice. But the freshness of the food made up for the lack of spice. There were two generous portions of rice. The lunch was delicious. My husband loved his Beef with Broccoli as well. They open at 11:00 am and serve lunch and dinner. There is plenty of parking in the strip mall. He does a robust service carry out as well. I'll definitely be back and I recommend. It's a fun little place.

I had been craving Chinese food and saw great reviews about imperial palace while I had time to waste before heading home. The restaurant is located in a strip mall and easy to miss. When you walk in you hear Frank Sinatra playing over the sound system and Marilyn Monroe pictures on the wall. I took a seat and was given a menu with water. I ordered the crab Rangoons because I saw reviews about how big they were. They were the largest I've ever seen. However, the flavor was lacking. I tasted more cream cheese than crab. I could only eat one because they were so large and rich. I also ordered the lunch portion orange chicken with fried rice. Neither was amazing. Both were kind of dry and the chicken was tough. It taste more like Chinese food you find in a mall food court instead of a restaurant.

It's small, only six tables, but we were there for an early lunch and it filled up by the time we left. Looked like there was a busy carry out business, too. Service was wonderful! I had the the dry chili chicken lunch that came with fried rice and a spring roll. I added the egg drop soup, too. Hubby had the full order of shrimp with cashews that came with fried or white rice and he added a hot and sour soup. Everything was delicious! Our first visit, but we will be back!

This spot is a true hidden gem and quite possibly could be the best Chinese spot in Indy. Don't be swayed by the outside aesthetic, because the food is INCREDIBLE. I have had many different dishes, both in person and for takeout, and I have yet to be disappointed. You also can choose your spice level. Give the egg rolls a try. Plus the pricing? Unbeatable! Not to mention, the owner is the kindest man and makes everything in house! I highly suggest you give this spot a try - you're bound to love it as much as I do.

Back again to enjoy fresh cooked to order Chinese food. The owner was working today. He is a senior gentleman with the politeness of his generation. This was another great dining experience.

Biggest Crab Ragoons I've had and they're still delicious. Definitely my go to place for some now.

My friend introduced me to this place so I'll be your friend and introduce you to it! I'm one of those that will get the same dish every time because I love it so much. My dish for Imperial Palace is called Yum Yum Chicken. Very appropriately named, yummm! It has a light crisp outside and a delicious sweet glaze. You should also try their Rangoons, they're huge and tasty! The owner is named Ben, a super nice guy. I also love the old Sinatra music

    Ma Po Tofu

Many years ago I lived in San Francisco. My FAVORITE restaurant food was Ma Po Tofu. I found a couple restaurants that offed the dish. For many years now I have tried and tried to find anything close to what I had. I lived in different cities and never found anything close. UNTIL NOW! I noticed the International Market Place Coalition would be going to the Imperial Palace. I thought I would give it a try on my own. I asked if they offered Ma Po Tofu and they agreed to prepare it for me. It's perfect. It has the perfect balance of meat and tofu but more importantly the correct amount of ginger and toasted sesame oil. After years of searching I finally found my favorite dish. Thank you Imperial Palace.

    Garlic Chicken

Nice place for a good filling American Chinese fusion lunch. We ordered spice level of 6 (on a scale of 1-10). I would say the spice was reasonable and we could have actually asked for 8. The highlight was Garlic Chicken, possibly due to my Asian roots - packed a punch with garlic, sauce and veggies. The garlic and orange chicken come with a side of steamed or plain fried rice. Hot and sour soup had a unique flavor - which was neither too spicy nor too warm - just the right touch. All in all good good at a very reasonable price - definitely recommend. They do serve halal - chicken and beef only.

It's so much more convenient than driving all the way to the northwest side of Indy. I've been on the hunt for solid American-Chinese food and anything close to more traditional Cantonese-style dishes. Still searching overall, but Tian Fu definitely has some pretty solid options. I specifically go out of my way for their Beef Stir-Fried Rice Noodles (Beef Chow Fun), which I haven't been able to find anywhere else in the city. The noodles have great texture and flavor, and it totally scratches that craving. I also really liked their fried marinated chicken wings, perfect mix of crispy skin and flavorful. I've heard they have a separate Chinese menu you can request, which makes me even more curious to dine in sometime and explore more of their offerings. Overall, I'd recommend them for the variety alone, easily one of the better Chinese food spots in the city, especially if you're on the east side and want something reliable for takeout.

And of course, lots of giant peppers instead of slicing them down...and a crap ton of veggies without much steak. But that's typical. The shrimp fried rice... Tasteless. I don't usually like to add more soy sauce to my food (and I didn't), but you're gonna need to drizzle the sauce from one of the other meals onto it or SOMETHING because homegirl was tasteless. Disappointing. The shrimp and broccoli was fine - exactly what you'd expect. Everything was packaged well, so I'd say attentive service for takeout. Not sure what it looks like on the inside/bathrooms/cleanliness, etc. since we did takeout, but I would go back for the orange chicken unless I find a place with better + solid shrimp fried rice. P.S. Remember when they used to automatically put eggs in the fried rice without you having to pay extra? I miss those days.
