Broccoli Cheddar soup was terrible - one large hard piece of broccoli in a nacho cheese base
    Meg E.

Craving soup on a cold day, my husband and I stopped by and got three large soups of the day to go. Two employees appeared to be arguing, not sure what that's about but it was uncomfortable. We were asked about crackers or bread to accompany each and selected bread. Our total was $29.40. Parking is tricky since it's just off monument circle so heads up when stopping by, especially on a busy downtown day. Upon getting home, we first tried the lobster bisque. It was okay but very thick, not much lobster, strong onion after taste. Next was the broccoli cheddar, but unfortunately it's just a thick soup, like nacho cheese, and had just one piece of broccoli in it that we had to take out and cut into bite-sized pieces, which took a sharp knife because the broccoli piece was so hard. There were a few wilted broccoli leaves but no other broccoli and no signs of any seasoning. Even after chopping the one piece up, this soup was not good and went right into the trash. Our final soup was the one with sausage, kale, potatoes, and Parmesan. This one was decent but the sausage fat was not drained so it separated and made the oily fat sit on top. One large piece of Parmesan that must have started on top sank to the bottom and was difficult to cut through. It was overall just a very oily soup. I'm not sure if we came on an off day if this "restaurant" simply doesn't put care and attention to detail into their food anymore, but this experience will have us never coming back.

A quaint shop in downtown Indianapolis. The concept of a soup flight is spectacular and I would recommend anyone to go here if you're stopping through. The soup flight is reasonably priced and they have a variety of soups that rotate out daily as they make their batches day of. I got the chili, tomato bisque and cheddar baked potato. All delicious and I don't think you can go wrong with any of the soups! The ladies who were working there are very friendly. I was tempted to go back each day during my short trip there, haha.

After reading some recent social media posts about soup, I was definitely in the mood on a cold winter day. I stopped by this little spot right off the circle to grab a couple of containers to go. It's a very quaint and homey place with seating limited to a few chairs at a countertop area. It's decorated like a quirky library, which I thought was cute. They do offer all of their soups frozen to go, which is what I chose. The gal at the counter helping me was very kind and friendly, describing all their soups and telling me about her favorites. She even gave me a sample of the lobster bisque (yum!). I ended up ordering a larger container of the tomato bisque and a smaller lobster bisque. She did have to go get them from another area, as it seems the freezer is in a different location of the building. I was given the option to choose two portions of bread, as well for no extra charge. I thawed the tomato bisque for the next day and had it as a meal with one of the sizes of bread. It was delicious! Rich, hearty and cheesy...just as it was described. The larger size container held three large bowls of soup. I haven't tried the lobster bisque yet, but am hopeful it will also be delightful. I'll be back again soon to try yet another soup and if the weather cooperates, sit on the circle!

Stay away! This place is run by crooks! We ordered the Lobster Bisque Soup and a Kerouac Salad and all they included was the soup in the bag. They wrote on the bag "salad refunded" but it definitely was not, and we are now out over $17. We phoned them several times and they NEVER pick up the phone. The soup wasn't that good either. Stay away!

Good for breakfast spot on the circle. This place is growing on me. They make a great sandwich and they aren't usually very busy. It is about $10 for a breakfast sandwich so it's a bit pricey but it will fill you up.

    Endless Summer salad with "salmon"

Order via GrunHub. Food is fresh and good. Only three stars because when I order a salad with salmon, I don't expect smoked salmon to be added to the salad. That is not the same thing. I expected a piece of grilled salmon fillet. wtf? Who advertises salad with salmon and serves it with smoked salmon?

This is my second time here and I had very little interaction my first visit so decided to come back...I got the same combo soup and a sandwich. The woman who took my order was loud and kept screaming my order at the guy at the cash register lol he looked annoyed. The person who checked me out at the register was very dry with no personality he really seemed like he didn't want to be at work today. My broccoli and cheddar soup was much more flavorful last visit and wasn't as thin as todays. The NYC pastrami was good I'd definitely order it again, but a half sandwich for $8.99 is expensive! My half of a sandwich and cup of soup was $18 on top of a tip I left. I try to pick local shops like this over places like Panera but for the price it should've came with the whole sandwich lol. The shop itself is really small and quaint with pictures of celebs like 2Pac on the wall. They have limited seating against the window and wall.

Visiting Indy for the first time and stopped in here for lunch today. Wonderful people, atmosphere and food!! Finn was incredibly helpful and friendly. We shared a panini and a soup trio. Not a crumb or drop went to waste! Everything was delicious! If we lived closer, we would have definitely taken some frozen soup to-go. Such a good idea! We loved our lunch here and will be back! Definitely recommend coming and giving them a try!

Lobster Bisque Soup, Buffalo Chicken, Chicken Noodle Soup

Stopped in for the first time today. Had the soup trio's. I liked 3 of the 6. My favorite was the Italian Kale Parmesan the most. The homemade sausage was delicious. Second was Buffalo Chicken and last chicken noodle soup. Didn't like the chili, Lobster bisque and Chicken Velvet soup. They tasted heavy in corn starch and flour. Not much seating inside luckily there was 2 of us and we went for a late lunch. It is counter service and they pack it to go.

It's very cool on the inside with vintage and Indiana-themed decor, tin ceilings, and, of course, a potbelly stove. The staff were friendly. But brother and I were very confused about the ordering process. There wasn't a lot of directional signage showing where to start and each step of the process. I watched a few other customers go through and they didn't seem like they had a problem so maybe it was just us. Next time I would probably just order online and pick it up so I could avoid the in-person ordering process altogether. I had the turkey sandwich and it was pretty good. I would say definitely a step up from your typical sub sandwich chain in terms of flavor and toppings options. I tried the chili mac as well. The chili is definitely à la Wendy's but I enjoyed it. The mac and cheese was good as well. I'd probably get either on its own but not together again. I also tried the Potbelly/Zapp's collab chips, the Hot Pepper flavor. They were good but are definitely not for everyone. When I visited, most of their fountain soda options were out of order so I settled on a no sugar added Pineapple Passionfruit juice/soda which was actually pretty good. We'll definitely be back - especially to try out their milkshakes!

The sandwich is about as long as my humerus, and I ate the whole dang thing in one sitting. New York Gourmet Deli is not to be confused with NY Gourmet Deli, also in Indy. New York Gourmet Deli is located on East 21st Street on the near east side; NY Gourmet Deli is on Ruckle Street, near The Children's Museum. Are they owned by the same people? I don't know, but someone needs to change their name so I'm less confused. Anyway, New York Gourmet Deli, on the east side, is great and located in an unassuming parking lot full of potholes. It looks like a liquor store from the outside, but step inside and you'll see the large deli counter where you order sandwiches, burgers, fries and other foods. The joint is also a convenience store, of sorts, with a wall full of refrigerated beverages, aisles of chips, candy, and lots of Mexican snacks. There's also a little corner of the store with goods like laundry detergent and other necessities. The hustle here is unmatched. The fellows behind the counter were flying all over the kitchen to fulfill the orders. I visited around noon on a weekday, which seemed to be a busy time because there were lots of people from all walks of life here, either waiting to order or waiting for their orders. The guys behind the counter were unflappable and took orders and made sandwiches at a speedy pace. Even if there's a line, you won't wait long for your food.

I've struggled with how to rate and review Goose the Market for a long time…read more I've struggled mightily. It's an Indianapolis icon in many ways. It's beloved. And listen, it's not the most wheelchair friendly place in the world. If you're a wheelchair user, you're in all likelihood not going to the cellar unless you're extraordinary with you're chair or you crawl. I remember attending a Yelp event here, and I just wrestled with these issues so much. It's not inaccessible - you can get in the door, though even the parking is a bit wonky and the curb-cuts a bit worn. This is an older building in an older neighborhood. So yeah, if you're a wheelchair user plan ahead. I am a wheelchair user. And I suppose I should knock off my usual 1-star for accessibility issues. But, I just can't do it. I, instead, choose to go 5-stars with my narrative disclaimer that there are accessibility issues here. But, my word. This is a great place and every single experience I've had with Goose the Market, including last night's Italian Film Festival, has been stellar whether I'm in their location or at an event they are catering. What is Goose the Market? First off, nearly everyone considers it one of the best - Indianapolis Monthly, Eater, Yelp, etc. Goose the Market offers a daily menu of sandwiches, soups, gelato, and small plates. It offers raw beef, pork, poultry, game, seafood, in-house made sausage/smoked meats, and more. It offers charcuterie - both in-house and from other producers. It offers farmstead cheeses, fresh produce, artisan breads, preserves, sauces, pickles, pasta, crackers, flours/grains, and a lot more. There's the cellar - Enoteca bar with Italian style wine by the glass and small plates (and it has all-ages seating). Goose the Market offers a wine of the month club, gift cards, catering, classes, daily specials, and more. What can I say? There are those places that are worth the effort. As a lifelong person with a disability, I long ago realized the world would never be perfectly accessible. It's never going to happen. I'll continue to work toward a more accessible world, though I'll also honor that there are those places where I feel welcome anyway. I feel welcome at Goose the Market, though I can't quite get the full experience. The service is exceptional, the products quite awesome, the environment warm and friendly, and there's simply no doubt it's one of Indy's treasures. So yeah, five stars. With a disclaimer that those with mobility impairments may need to plan ahead or have a companion along. Who wants to be my companion?

We got sandwiches to go as well as locally baked cookies. I tried the recommendation for a vegetarian sandwich. It was nice and crusty and had some good flavor. I might create my own next time, but theirs was good and had lots of flavor! My friend was new to Indianapolis and really liked the options. She said she would be back and so will we.
