I was craving Chinese for New Years and a quick search brought up Golden Dragon so I looked at the menu online and gave them a call for carry out. I didn't think they accepted my order because they didn't ask for my name or anything but when I arrived the food was ready so I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. However, the restaurant didn't look clean as I could see inside the kitchen from the check in counter, BUT the food was delicious! As someone from the west coast who is used to a wide variety of multicultural food, I was very happy to find this place because it tasted authentic. Absolutely the BEST carry out Chinese. You HAVE to try the crab rangoon! Whatever wonton wrapper they use for them is thinner than anywhere else and it fries of crispy and light and makes the crab rangoon SO GOOD you'll seriously devour them all and want more. Recently moved to the area and wanted to try a new Chinese takeout place. Saw all the four and five star reviews and wanted to try it out. Takeout was incredibly speedy and food was fairly fresh for takeout. I got the rice and chicken soup, dumplings and the beef with snow peas. I did not enjoy the beef with snow peas, but thought the dumplings and rice and chicken soup were average to good for takeout. Interested in trying again, maybe with a different entree. read more

It was on time, not too expensive, and there is no seating, just takeout at this location. We didn't get anything fancy, and their menu is fairly sparse. We've been doing carryout from this family owned and operated restaurant for a long time. Golden Dragon went through several changes during the pandemic from being closed entirely, to carryout within the restaurant to pick up through an outdoor window where you weren't allowed inside the restaurant. They are now back to carryout being picked up inside the restaurant at the counter. Golden Dragon is located next door to the Marathon Gas Station/Village Pantry on the corner of Country Club and Crawfordsville Road. A few parking spaces are in front of the restaurant and spaces are only full for a couple minutes since this is carryout only with no dine in or delivery. Golden Dragon offers a lunch menu 7 DAYS A Week from 11:00am - 3:00pm for $6.75. They offer 29 different lunch options served with Pork Fried Rice or White Rice and choice of Soup (Egg Drop, Wonton or Hot & Sour Soup) or Egg Roll. Several items on their menu is automatically made hot but you can select any heat you prefer per dish. Just let them know when ordering. My favorite Appetizers are the Veggie Spring Rolls (2 per order), Crab Rangoon (5 or 10 per order) and the Steamed Dumplings (8 per order). Often I'll order the Steamed Dumplings or Crab Rangoon with a Spring Roll as my dinner. All of the soups are good from the Wonton, Chicken Rice, Chicken Noodle, Egg Drop, Hot & Sour or the House Special Soup. We've ordered all of them and it just depends on what we're hungry for at the time. The Soup can be ordered by the Pint or Quart. We always get the Quart so I'll have leftovers. One option we enjoy is called the Daily Special on the menu. It is much easier to understand on the menu but here goes. It is 5 meat options that can be ordered separately (called plain) or with 3 different additional side items. The Meat options are Three Wings ($4.95), Six Fried Jumbo Shrimp ($6.95), Ten Chicken Nuggets ($4.75), Ten Fried Scallops ($4.75) or Boneless Spare Ribs ($7.25). The regular menu offers the standard Chinese options most Chinese restaurants offer but with a few twists. Most of the entrees can be ordered by Pint or Quart from Chow Mein/Chop Suey, Lo Mein, Chowder Mei Fun, Egg Foo Young to Fried Rice. Poultry, Pork, Beef, Seafood or Vegetable options are available as well. My husband orders the Pork Lo Mein most often, my son the Orange Chicken or Beef with Broccoli Combination. The Combination Plates offer 28 different options plus served with Fried Rice and Egg Roll for $8.95. The Chef's Specialities offer twelve options ranging from $10.95 - $14.95 and served with Fried or White Rice. A few of my favorites are the Four Seasons ($10.95) with Sautéed Shrimp, Chicken, Pork and Beef. The Happy Family ($13.75) is one of my top favorites with Jumbo Shrimp, Slices of Chicken, Lobster, Beef and Pork with assorted vegetables in a delicious brown sauce. My first choice is the Hunan Triple Crown ($13.75) with Scallops, Lobster, Jumbo Shrimp, Chicken fried with assorted vegetables in a Spicy Brown Sauce. I love spicy brown sauce on almost anything but they do have a White Sauce on the Seafood Combo ($14.75) if brown sauce isn't your thing. The carryout orders are usually correct including the sauces and rices. We often order several different entrees with appetizers and soups and it has been a very long time since we've had an error. The order is always packaged well in sturdy containers. It is your responsibility to pick up your own soy, sweet and sour and hot mustard sauce. Customer service was good. To begin with I called a phone order so I didn't have to wait and he said it would be ready in 10 minutes and it was literally ready in 10 so that's a big plus for me. So if you're looking for a fast food this is your place. Moreover I order the orange chicken with white rice which is always a great order and it was delicious. Also I was nervous to try a new place but I saw that they had a 4.5 stars on Yelp so I had to try it. My first time to try this restaurant after being enticed by the reviews. Unfortunately, I'm a bit disappointed by the lack of flavor in my meal. I had the roast pork and Chinese vegetables. The food was well prepared but didn't hold much in the way of taste. I suppose my expectations may have been too high for what I had ordered. I enjoy oriental cuisine over many years and have visited many restaurants. My experience with Golden Dragon today is my least satisfying so far. Worth the drive! I wanted egg drop soup and used the Yelp app to find a nearby place. Except I didn't realize that there was a road closed, the one I need to get there. It took twice as long to back track, but at this point I was going to get there since I had heard good things. It's a small place next to a gas station. I was worried when I pulled up, but it was handicap accessible and I had no issue getting my aunt inside. We got got a quart of egg drop soup and I got crab rangoon and wow, it was the best I have ever had! They cooked it fresh and it was so soft and flavorful and the crab was warm and gooey. It was perfect. I hope that road gets done soon. The GPS wanted me to go that way home. Ha. It was sad how I saw I was right there on the other side and couldn't get across. This will be a great lunch after my aunt's doctor who is close by. We both love egg drop soup! So many people came in to get orders while we were there! It was a pretty busy to go place. THIS PLACE IS FILTHY! DISGUSTING!......Your first clue that maybe you should avoid this place is the door and windows as you enter are extremely dirty, obviously have not been wiped for a long time. Then when you enter you are greeted by someone who looks like they have not bathed in a while, wearing clothes that are soiled and stained. You can see the kitchen clearly from the counter and it is also disgusting, with food all over the floor and nothing looks clean. The light fixtures have not been cleaned in years. I find it hard to believe that this place can pass an inspection to operate from the board of health. We were kind of afraid to eat the food we purchased. I love Chinese takeout. I love giant plastic tubs brimming with salty, saucy veggies, and chewy-sticky white rice. I love slurping up spoonfuls hot egg drop soup and crunching those crispy fried noodles, carefully folded into a wax paper bag. I love choosing from a menu of items organized by number and letter, with helpful color photographs above the register. Golden Dragon is all this. It's housed in the same building as a Marathon gas station, but as I've learned, some of the tastiest places are. There are a few tables inside if you do want to eat in, but we've always gotten takeout. The staff is pleasant and helpful, and the cooks are wicked fast; we've never had to wait longer than 10 minutes after placing an order.
