If you're sleeping on Rice King on Pendleton Pike, you are making a huge mistake. We get takeout there at least twice a month, always the same order, and it has NEVER been anything less than perfect. One large hot braised pork, one large garlic broccoli. That order is $20 and enough for four portions (or just two really big ones). These specific entrees together will send you to the moon. I can't speak for anything else on the menu because I found perfection and don't need to try anything else. I love it. I love it so much. Really wanted Qdoba, however due to extremely slow service I left and told my husband to call in Chinese. I got to the Chinese restaurant and he tells me he called the wrong place and I actually need to go to Rice King. We had never been here before and it was a bit of a drive but it was worth it. When I walked in the owner was making my food in the wok and when she packaged it up, I could not believe how much food was there. We got 2 orders of general tso's chicken and fried dumplings. The dumplings were crisp and not greasy. The sauce on our chicken was not your typical over sugared sauce but had some real flavor. Was happily impressed with Rice King. I went here for lunch and ordered the Kung Pao chicken lunch special. It also came with a side of hot and sour soup (which was one of the best I've had). I went to this place on a recommendation of it being one of the best fast food Chinese around. Let's start with ordering. I approached the counter and while I was ordering the lady was picking her teeth holding up a towel to block it. She kept doing while I place the order. I waited about 20 minutes for my carry out (I was the only customer). The portions were huge, but it was so salty we did not eat very much of it. The egg rolls were very greasy and not much meat in them. I order the combination lo mein and it also had a little meat in it. And even the fortune cookie was disappointing- it was stale. This is my FAVORITE Chinese restaurant!!! It's a little family owned place and the husband and wife are in the store all day every day. Very hard workers. The owners are as nice as can be and the Mrs always strikes up a conversation every time I visit. I probably go at least once a week. Their food is VERY good and you get large servings, very filling. I normally go to a different place for Chinese food, but a friend recommended Rice King and I am glad they did. First of all, the prices are awesome. $7.55 fed two adults, with leftovers. We got the General Tso combination, it came with rice, chicken and an egg roll. The chicken was VERY good, enough to keep us coming back for more. And the rice was better than any I've had from other resturaunts. The crab Rangoon, however, was really shitty. There was almost NO filling, at all. It was all crunch (usually I like the crunch) but there was no cream cheese or crab to soften it. They were really bad. If you go here, get steamed rice, not fried rice. They are also letting the cleanliness slide like they did before. I went to this place for her first time and I was pretty annoyed. I ordered extra spicy General tso dinner with extra rice instead of soup. Their general tso chicken is unlike any I've rever had. It's literally an extremely small amount of very dry chicken inside of a very thick piece of fried dough. Some pieces didn't even have chicken inside. The rice was okay, but was rather dry.
