Hot braised pork and garlic broccoli. Perfect every single time.
Abigale M.

If you're sleeping on Rice King on Pendleton Pike, you are making a huge mistake. We get takeout there at least twice a month, always the same order, and it has NEVER been anything less than perfect. One large hot braised pork, one large garlic broccoli. That order is $20 and enough for four portions (or just two really big ones). These specific entrees together will send you to the moon. I can't speak for anything else on the menu because I found perfection and don't need to try anything else. I love it. I love it so much. Plus you can call in your order and pick it up at a drive thru window, which is so brilliant.

Nasty place ever never eating here again my homie ate a band aid because the chief had a cut on his hand! I wish I was joking but I'm not I would never try to put a business out there like this to ruin business!

General Tso Chicken

Rice king is almost hidden.. but it's a great family owned restaurant. Due to Covid it's all carry out at the moment. You can call in to place your order and drive by the drive thru to pick up! The food is always fresh and they offer an affordable lunch menu. The lunch portions are almost as big as the dinner portions so you get a deal if you go for lunch. I had the General Tso chicken for lunch and it was great. I called in to place my order and it was ready within 15 min.

Typical Chinese fast food. Plentiful portions are decent price. Had the hot and sour soup and moo goo gai pan that comes with chicken fried rice. Soup was good. Main. Dish was fine but a little bland (and guess moo goo gai pan usually is.) #ReviewsByRL

General Tso's and fried rice

Really wanted Qdoba, however due to extremely slow service I left and told my husband to call in Chinese. I got to the Chinese restaurant and he tells me he called the wrong place and I actually need to go to Rice King. We had never been here before and it was a bit of a drive but it was worth it. When I walked in the owner was making my food in the wok and when she packaged it up, I could not believe how much food was there. We got 2 orders of general tso's chicken and fried dumplings. The dumplings were crisp and not greasy. The sauce on our chicken was not your typical over sugared sauce but had some real flavor. The fried rice was actually rice and not the yellow stuff a lot of Chinese take out restaurants serve. Excited to try this place ag

As someone in Indianapolis who is quite particular about authentic Asian cuisine, I am absolutely…read moredelighted to have discovered this spot! Even with the springtime rush making the parking a bit of a challenge, the atmosphere inside is wonderfully inviting. I managed to snag a darling little corner for myself, and the energy was just perfect. The hospitality here is truly top-tier; both the cashier and the gentleman behind the counter are simply lovely. My waiter was beyond charming and presented a menu with an impressive array of sophisticated choices everything from Sichuan Beef Noodle Soup to Steamed Eggplant and Beef Pancakes, with most entrees beautifully priced between $15 and $20. I decided on the Beef Noodle Soup ($12), and oh my goodness it arrived in a mere ten minutes! Talk about impeccable service. The broth was divine, and the meatballs were prepared to perfection. I was so caught up in the moment that I completely forgot to snap a photo before finishing every last bite! It was an absolute triumph of a meal. I am officially obsessed and will most certainly be back with my camera ready next time

Comprised of some communal bench seats and one round table, to dine-in is baptismal. While you sit scanning the space, it's evident that English is held secondarily to the vast majority nearby. Places like these ignite my desire to persist in learning. Like a Pabst Blue Ribbon or roadside Waffle House, this experience isn't for everybody. Gifts of peace and low prices are the sweet reward of other's inability to enjoy the gritty side of life. Expect the same crew holding it down here, with the biggest of smiles radiating from the cashier. Somebody who can laugh at me declining chopsticks because "I know myself" is a magnetic honesty that keeps me coming back. She allows the customer to peruse this menu in silence and may kindly tack on some extra bites when you order late enough in the shift. Much love.

One notable exception on the northwest edge of town is Tian Fu. It's in a residential area, in strip mall, with convenient parking. Tian Fu offers authentic Chinese and Japanese (sushi) food. For this day and age, and considering the quality and quantity of the food, the prices were reasonable, and a good value: Soup Dumpling $10.95; Shanghai Rice Cake 11.95; Old Mama's Pickled Pepper Fish $18.95; and Golden Tofu $13.95. The food was great. We would return. Note: there is a similarly named restaurant on the eastern edge of Indy. Not sure if it's under the same ownership. It's on E Washington Street, just west of Rt 465.

Not a happy face anywhere. Our waiter arrived in about 20min to take drink orders. Food arrived, dish by dish, for the next 1.5 hours. The food was mostly OK. Basic items like silverware and napkins had to be obtained manually. Also to-go boxes. Last year, it was a three star. This year, two. We won't be back. Perhaps it's not a Larson cartoon (Crisis clinic on fire, about to go over some waterfalls), but it came close. The food as not bad; it was OK, nothing above average. I wish I could say better because my sister thinks it's fine.... until her meal arrived somewhat cold, ninety-minutes after we sat. It was mostly empty by the time we left; restaurants are a tough business, especially on Christmas. Will we be there next Christmas? Nope.

It's so much more convenient than driving all the way to the northwest side of Indy. I've been on the hunt for solid American-Chinese food and anything close to more traditional Cantonese-style dishes. Still searching overall, but Tian Fu definitely has some pretty solid options. I specifically go out of my way for their Beef Stir-Fried Rice Noodles (Beef Chow Fun), which I haven't been able to find anywhere else in the city. The noodles have great texture and flavor, and it totally scratches that craving. I also really liked their fried marinated chicken wings, perfect mix of crispy skin and flavorful. I've heard they have a separate Chinese menu you can request, which makes me even more curious to dine in sometime and explore more of their offerings. Overall, I'd recommend them for the variety alone, easily one of the better Chinese food spots in the city, especially if you're on the east side and want something reliable for takeout.

The orange chicken was really good - like, I'd order that again without hesitation. They give you plenty! I don't even know how I'm going to eat all the leftovers. I was expecting the small to be... well, small. Anyway. The pepper steak was just okay. It lacked flavor for me. And of course, lots of giant peppers instead of slicing them down...and a crap ton of veggies without much steak. But that's typical. The shrimp fried rice... Tasteless. I don't usually like to add more soy sauce to my food (and I didn't), but you're gonna need to drizzle the sauce from one of the other meals onto it or SOMETHING because homegirl was tasteless. Disappointing. The shrimp and broccoli was fine - exactly what you'd expect. Everything was packaged well, so I'd say attentive service for takeout. Not sure what it looks like on the inside/bathrooms/cleanliness, etc. since we did takeout, but I would go back for the orange chicken unless I find a place with better + solid shrimp fried rice. P.S. Remember when they used to automatically put eggs in the fried rice without you having to pay extra? I miss those days.
