Having previously lived in Philly I'm admittedly a snob about cheesesteaks and there's no place better than Delessandro's (In Philly), Chad's, however, does a delicious rendition. Bread is tasty. Went after hearing rave reviews from a family member. I don't get the great reviews. I found it over priced for what you got and not tasty at all. Baked beans were way too spicy, collard greens had the worst smell that only one in four of us was willing to even try them. Tasted as bad as they smelled. Pulled pork was dry, and the Meatloaf sandwich was quite mushy. I will say the hamburgers were very good, but who goes to a bbq place for hamburgers? Neat place, kind of close quarters but they have an outdoor seating area which is nice. Tender, fall off the bone barbecue ribs, but only baby backs available from what I saw and I'm partial to spare ribs but the staff was friendly and they have a full bar, so that's nice too. This is my first Yelp review, mostly brought on by reading other reviews. In the five years I have been going to Chad's with my family I've never had a bad meal. My personal favorites are the Smoked Burger, Smoked Meatloaf, Smoked Turkey sandwich, Seafood Gumbo and Honey Jalapeno Wings. The fries are seriously good, and I am insanely picky about fries. Large serving of fresh, hot, golden brown hand-cut fries. No grease, they leave most of the salting to me (which I love) and they stand the "hold horizontal" test - not one single floppy fry in the batch, ever. I laugh when I hear people mention 5 Guys or some other fries being good. No contest, unless you run on grease. Sandwiches and Burgers are on fresh bread and rolls from area bakery. Sodas are craft - the ginger ale is fantastic, nice spike of real ginger. Can't really comment on drinks or beer selection. Random thoughts on other reviews that make me think I am living in an alternate universe: Price - clearly marked on the boards, generally the cost of a meal with sides is 1.5 to 2X McDonalds... Do the mental math when you order. I think they probably charge a quarter for pickles because they are house made and they are amazing. BBQ - If there is a food that sets people off with more subjective, half-baked opinions than BBQ - I sure don't know what it is. Everyone is an expert. Everyone has had the best in North Carolina, or Georgia, Florida or wherever they hail from. But I do know this - there is no way on god's green earth that Chad's pulled pork tastes like grade school cafeteria or their ribs taste like oven or steam table ribs. The wings are not fried, nor are they 'dry' - never in a million years. Sorry - not having it. Loud - OMG it's a small, roadside BBQ joint/Bar with 6 tables favored by people who live around here. People bring their kids, people talk, the game is on, the bar is in full swing, the volume level rises. My boyfriend and I go to Chad's at least 2-3 times a month. We love their smoked burger cooked medium rare with their house-made bacon jam, arugula, and garlic mayo sauce. It's five (5) stars !!! In a competitive local BBQ market, Chad figured it out. This was the best cheesesteak I've had in years. Where most establishments, even ones famous for their cheesesteaks, just slap some frozen steakums on a grill top, Chad's definitely uses fresh cut meat. And where most places treat the roll as an afterthought, Chad's gives the taste delivery vessel known as a roll its just due. The roll is perfectly toasted; crunchy and chewy throughout the entire experience. The brisket was good too but the portion was so small it was tough to judge it entirely. The bad: Chad's, your fries are awful, your Carolina sauce is essentially vinegar with some seasoning; maybe make it mustard based vs. a bottle of vinegar. Portions could definitely be bigger for the prices you're charging. Overall: look no further if you want awesome BBQ in an awesome atmosphere. read more

Before heading to Terrapin State Park we stopped here for lunch, mainly because they have a pet friendly patio. I ordered the wings and hubby got the Cheesesteak they was on their specials menu and we shared an order of fried pickles. Everything was absolutely delicious and I live that they have Maine Handcrafted sodas on their fountain. The wings were really large, meaty & juicy and the bbq buffalo was the perfect amount of heat. Hubby's cheesesteak was huge, he had to save half for later and the fried pickles were yummy as well, very tasty dipping sauce. The staff here is very friendly, as we were enjoying our meal they even brought out a bowl of cold water for our golden retriever. Came here with a large group on a Friday for lunch and the service was very quick and pleasant. I ordered gumbo and tried the cornbread on the side. The gumbo was loaded with delicious shrimp, crawfish, and crab. There was also a combination of some rice or barley with flavorful okra and other veggie mixings. The cornbread tastes awesome and very fresh as well. They serve drinks in Mason Jars, which is adorable and fun. The place is located right off the road, so it's hard to miss. 4 stars is just right for Chad's. The wings are as good as advertised. The food is better served when eaten at the establishment vs take out, but still good. The pricing is a little steep, $9 for 7 wings + you have to pay per side. My co-worker got the brisket sandwich and fries, beans and I also got fries and it all came out to $31!! I was like damn, $31??? I mean, I expected something like $20-$25, I know not far off but I guess you pay for the taste and homemade feel. Pricey - and the food was ok, at best. I am from the south - and GOOD BBQ is hard to find around here. This place was recommended to me by a local. After trying it, I see why. This place is obviously a local hangout and was packed by the time we left. The good: It is clean. The bad: 1 - waaaaaaay overpriced. We got 3 items and it was almost $35 for 2 people. $9 for freggin' corn fritters. No, they were not magical. They charge a quarter for pickles. Really? Really? It's a freggin' condiment and you're charging for them? 2 - The pulled pork reminded us A LOT of the bbq/mystery meat you use to get in elementary school. Nothing special at all. It was edible, but that was about it. 3 - the place is TINY. I don't think they could seat more than 20ish people in there and the table tops were small. I AM picky about my BBQ. I'll keep going to Looney Bin's BBQ in Crofton, it's the best I've found around here so far.
