When our favorite Thai place remodeled, my husband and I started frequenting Chada Thai. Its convenience and the quality of the food keep bringing us back for more. If you like spicy Thai cuisine, their dishes have some serious kick! However, the nagging disquiet I feel every time I sit down to have a meal here is a bit of a drag. The air has a muffled, deadened quality to it that reminds me of Rowling's descriptions of dementors. Part of this has to do with the no-frills, minimalist service. Also, it's pretty vacant whenever we eat here; you could hear probably hear a pin drop. There are brief moments when some warmth shines through however, like when regulars pop in for their take-out and strike up a conversation with the owner, or the server smiles after I compliment the food. read more

Chada Thai is my favorite Thai restaurant in Seattle. A hole in the wall gem of a restaurant that delivers the most delicious Thai food I've had. Be warned that their 1 star hot rating is pretty hot. Delicious, great service, family atmosphere. Had the crispy garlic chicken which is absolutely yummy. Everyone else ate a ton of mine! We also got the yellow curry and panang curry - both with white rice. Both were very good. We also got fresh spring rolls before our meal w a yummy plum sauce. I ate at Chada Thai last night and had a pretty good experience. I wasn't sure what to expect after reading many reviews of poor and rude service, but the woman who served us was nice enough. The food was excellent and the prices were very reasonable. The only thing I would mention is, it was too quiet, no music playing in the background. Not a big deal though. Oh, and the other reviews were correct about how hot the food is. It's a 4 star scale and I like it fairly hot. I got 2 stars and it was almost too hot. More like a 3 or 4 in most Thai restaurants. Chada is the best Thai place in the neighborhood for take-out. Orders are prepared quickly and the quality is consistent. Generous portions - there is always enough left over for lunch the next day so in that respect it is an excellent value. They are liberal with the spices, and I always order one fewer star than at other Thai places, so I can enjoy the complexity of the other flavors. I can't get enough of their Phad Thai. read more

The lunch specials, at least, are a great deal. For $8.50+tax+tip, I got a nice portion of red curry + pad thai + rice + soup. I don't see the need for noodles plus rice, but I'll take it anyway. :) The soup was just so-so, but the pad thai and red curry were really tasty, a big notch above what I expect at a typical, Seattle area Thai place. They didn't skimp on the meat, like some places. It's a real, family run, hole-in-the-wall type of place, located in a strip mall off the beaten path. As I ate, groups of young, Thai kids streamed in and out for a quick, sit down meal, and customers walked by my table to pick up and place take out orders. The wife serves and buses the tables, and the husband cooks the meals. She was a bit brusque, but polite. When I told her I wanted maximum spice (4 stars here), she tried to warn me, but when I persisted, she was happy enough to accommodate me. I got a chance to thank the chef for his wonderful food, and that he made it spicy for me. He smiled, and seemed genuinely pleased that I liked the meal. Then he made a point of coming out to the dining area and offereed me a take out box for my leftovers. Chada is tops, as far as I'm concerned, well worth driving a few extra miles out of my way. Good stuff Great Food. Really Great. Bad stuff. The night I was there it was bad service. Not gonna kill ya bad, but bad. Ordered two entree's and an appetizer. Got one entree. The people who came in after us got all their food, then our appetizer and remaining entree came out. This wasn't a five minute delay, this was about 15. Ain't gonna kill ya but it does take the polish off the place. Nice place for takeout or if you're there alone, but I'd be leery of taking a hot date there. read more

This place is close to where I live, and the convenience factor is high - they usually have 2-3 dishes ready in about 15 minutes, and 4-5 dishes ready in about 20 minutes, so if you're at risk of Hanger, they're worth the phone call. I love that they are serious about their spice - 3 stars is a solid runny nose for most of my friends. I noticed another reviewer mentioned that the vegetable quantity is sometimes lacking, which I've found to be true occasionally. However, if you order with tofu instead of a meat, they tend to be more generous with the vegetables, and the tofu texture here is pretty awesome. If there's one thing to order from their menu, it's the Crispy Garlic Chicken. It's addictive and delicious. I've also really enjoyed the Phad Kee Mao and Phad Thai. Their Larb is also pretty good. read more

Got the phad Thai with pork, green curry with chicken, and cashew chicken with veges. They were all too sweet. This was a takeout order that I placed over the phone today. When the woman asked me if I wanted an order of rice, I asked "Doesn't the curry come with rice?" and she said no. Wtf?! Maybe she's new or was confused or whatever but that's just...silly. Chada Thai is a great place for some solid Thai food. I usually did carry-out, but it looks cute enough inside to sit and eat as well (I just happened to live a couple blocks down when I was in Seattle). Obviously family owned but still run very well. My personal favorites are the tom kha soup, phad see iew, phad kee mao, and of course the phad thai. As far as spice goes, they don't water it down like some places in the area - if you ask for 3+ stars you'd better mean it. The staff/family is very nice too. They were brief (not rude, just professional) my first couple of times in, but after a few visits for pick-ups they remembered me and always asked how I'm doing. Don't get me wrong. The food here is amazing! I love the pad Thai because it's not "ketchupy". But the customer service on the other hand is just horrible. The lady is extremely rude. I had ordered the lunch special and I asked for an extra plate because I don't like my food all mixed up. So she proceeded to get the plate and literally tossed my plate on the table and almost knocked down my water. Then she just rolled her eyes and walked away. I have been eating here for 5 years and I have to say the food is some of the best authentic Thai food in Seattle. I am a huge food critic too and I love the food here. some people may not understand the culture in reserved conversation because the owner is not a salesman but she knows good food and knows how to make it perfect, EVERY TIME. When I come to this place she always remembers what I like to order. This is a nice casual place for a date, lunch, dinner, or to go orders. The prices are excellent for top quality fresh ingredients! I am not sure if everything is organic but I'm willing to bet the owners try to buy organic vegetables because they really care about quality, and the taste is amazing!!! Today I came late as they were closing and she asked her employee to let me order really fast, because she cares about her customers, and remembered me and my favorite dish. The owner is not very personable, kind of quiet, but if you get to know her, you will find out that her reviews mean a lot to her because she has a good heart, and really wants all her customers to be 100% happy. I was surprised she let me order my meal at closing time and remembering what I always order makes me feel like an important customer. I have brought nearly all my friends and family to this place at least a few times. Now that I moved 30 minutes away, I still come here anytime I'm wanting the best Thai food in Seattle. I usually get the cashew veggie which I am not even sure if it's on the menu but she always remembers my order. This is obviously a small family business and the owners son is a very polite young man. The rice is always perfect texture and taste excellent. I have gone to Chada before and every time I never had a problem, but today, I did. I noticed that lady that worked there was in a bad mood, which made the atmosphere an uncomfortable place to be in. Another lady greeted my friends and I, asking us how many people we have, which we answered 4. She never seated us nor gave us menus. We had to physically get up and get them ourselves. My fiance and I went in here with little context, all I knew was that I had a hankering for thai food. The food and service we recieved was phenomenal, especially considering that we arrived about half an hour before closing. their phad thai was the best I've had yet, and their cashew shrimp is to die for, according to my fiance :) we'll certainly make this a regular go-to for a sit-down meal. read more

I'm doing this for you, yelp community. I'm powering through the flaming geyser that is my mouth right now to warn you. Even if you consider yourself a "fan" of spice... even a "hard core balls to the wall lover" of spice... request 1 star. Basically, unless your mouth resembles Satan's asshole and your stomach is like the fiery pits of Mordor you are NOT ready for this. We like spicy food and typically fall in the 3-star+ range on Seattle Thai food but this is the second batch of 2-star food from Chada (pad Thai and masaman curry) that we haven't been able to finish. Literally not edible after the first few mouthfuls. The curry was better than the pad Thai but damn... way too much red pepper. Hard pass on giving this a third try. read more

My family has consistently been going to Chada Thai since it opened before I was born. The owners saw me grow up. We've seen it swing up and down, but right now I'd recommend it. The restaurant under original management warranted 5 stars easily. A few years ago they went under new management and the food suffered. My family stopped going there all together, but I've given it a few more tries. At first it was quite mediocre, but now it's much better, closer to how it used to be. I always order their Panang Beef, and it keeps getting better. Their Phad Thai is merely OK, I'd pass on it if I were you. The service is wonderful. Even when I give you my name over the phone it still feels great to be greeted by name twice every time I come in. There is always a little kid there who makes me smile. It's run down, but I really don't mind as I almost always get takeout anyway. Try the home made coconut ice cream if you want a treat! read more

OMG crispy chicken! We also love the phat kee mao and tom yum koong. I don't think the phad thai is all that great but the rest totally makes up for it. Their 4 stars (hot) will make you sweat - yes! As people mentioned prices are higher than average but the quality is also higher than average. I would give Chada four stars, but I do have a couple of issues. I've eaten here a lot because I live nearby, and they are a very solid and reliably good Thai restaurant. The food is fresh and tasty. My main issue is the spiciness. If you haven't been there before, beware: 3 stars will burn your mouth right out of your face. I can't even tolerate 1 star. My fiance got 3 stars once, and he could barely eat it. This is not a wimpy man when it comes to spicy food. I'd like to get a little extra heat, but you just never know if you're going to get 1 star and it's going to make your lips go numb. My other issue is that sometimes the customer service can be a little iffy. I'm not at all offended by it that they're not always super welcoming to their patrons, but sometimes you feel like you're bothering them. Otherwise, though, great food, and the place is pretty clean. The pad Thai is really delicious. read more
