Since there was a grand opening BOGO promotion, I got two Original Thai Teas- one at 100% sweetness and the other at 75%. The drink itself is pretty standard, but honestly tastes like it's made with instant Thai tea powder. This review is for Thursday, February 5. Went to BOGO with my friend cuz we saw the ads on IG and wanted to check it out since it was marketed as authentic Thai tea. Yelp and their website says they open at 11. My friend and I arrived at 11 and they weren't even open. Google said 11:30 and at 11:30, even the kiosk wasn't open to order. The kiosk also didn't have the BOGO deal. We had to order on our phone. I got the Thai Tea while my friend got the green Thai Tea and we traded one of our free drinks with each other so we'd have different drinks. The regular Thai tea tasted watered down. The green Thai tea tasted like cereal. LOL. Overall, this place was very disappointing. I was really excited to try them and wanted to like them but unfortunately, they missed the mark. I honestly wouldn't recommend as drinks are $7.50+. You're better off going elsewhere for the same price but better drinks. Btw, the place is in a ghost kitchen so lots of delivery drivers are going in and out. The parking lot is super small and cramped as well. Location is also bad. LOL. We went for their Grand Opening and had high hopes. It is located in a ghost kitchen. The parking lot can get busy with everyone coming in and out and the pickup area is small. You can pre-order your drink on their website or order via a kiosk in the pickup area. Once your order is ready, you will get a link to pick up your drink(s) from a locker. We ordered: -Green thai tea with Boba. It recommended 100% for "Thai taste", but in general my husband and I like our milk teas less sweet. So, we ordered 25% and 50% and 100% with Boba. 25% Sweet tasted just like milk. 50% Sweet had a slight tea flavor to it, but it was kind of watered down and didn't taste very good. 100% Sweet was okay. We noticed the green color of the thai tea was lighter the less sweet the drink was (ex: 25% Sweet was pale green, 100% Sweet was a darker green). But, the 100% Sweet still had too much of a milk flavor and not enough of a tea flavor for us. The boba was hard and the drink would have tasted better without it. I saw an Instagram ad for their BOGO deal and wanted to get a little sweet treat. Cha La One is located in a ghost kitchen, and you're able to order online or through the kiosk inside. I ordered 2 thai milk teas with whole milk and 75% sweetness. They do offer a stronger thai tea flavor for $1 and it says there's an extra scoop. I was a bit confused as to whether that meant an extra scoop of thai tea powder or tea leaves when they brew the tea. I'm glad I got 75% sweetness and probably could've gotten 50% sweet. I felt that the thai tea was quite milky and smooth. There is a subtle thai tea flavor, but I wish it was stronger. As someone who likes to support small business, I always like trying something new. I have a huge sweettooth and enjoyed what I tried at cha la one. Thai tea pandan whisper tasted nice and fresh. The pandan flavor was subtle. I'm Filipino and want to gatekeep things like buko pandan, but this pandan Thai tea was really good to me. Just a reminder, you have to mix it all up and stir before drinking, otherwise you won't taste the blend of flavors. The crème brûlée itself was nice and soft. I just wish I had more of it! I ordered two crème brûlées: the Thai tea and coconut flavors. Definitely a fan of the sweet balance here. Sure, price point is the Bay Area price, but businesses need to survive and make some profit. I will definitely support them since it's close to me. read more

Me and my coworker went to try this place during lunch and we were very happy with the taste of the Thai Tea! I got the green thai tea and it had that deep and sweet flavor of green Thai tea that I look for. We both ordered online for pick up. FYI this place is in the Doordash Ghost Kitchen. The parking was really bad during lunch time because people and food delivery people were trying to park and pick up their orders. TLDR; a bit of a wait, pricey, but definitely delicious and authentic Thai tea that will have you wanting more. I actually came across this business on Instagram and decided to give it a try. I always prefer ordering ahead of time for any restaurant/shop because I'd rather have my order ready by the time I get there so I can immediately dip. I tried using the online ordering platform for Cha La One, but they weren't accepting online orders, so I had no choice but to order in person. I was confused when I arrived at the address and I didn't know if I was at the right place. Turns out there isn't a storefront per se, but Cha La One is located inside a "food hub". The facility is a place with commercial kitchens, where some businesses probably operate as ghost kitchens for DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, Postmates, etc. But lo and behold, I spotted the "Cha La One" and "AUTHENTIC THAI TEA" sign displayed through the window on the second floor! I just had to figure out how to get up there and order somehow... So... you can't go up there lol. The waiting area on the floor level was kind of small. A bunch of people were going in with QR codes ready to scan and leaving with their food orders. I'm guessing they were doing food deliveries. There was one worker standing behind a counter, but she wasn't there to take orders. Instead, there's a kiosk with a bunch of restaurants within that food hub listed on the screen. I found Cha La One and ordering was easy enough. The 3 drinks I got: Pandan Whisper (Thai Pandan Milk Tea) - This had a perfect balance of pandan and Thai tea. This drink had me saying, "damn. this is really good" after every sip. 5/5 Choco Charm (Thai Choco Milk Tea) - This kinda reminded me of Nesquik, but my friend thought it tasted more like Milo. It was good, but the cocoa powder wasn't mixed very well because I felt grainy bits in my throat, which wasn't a pleasant feeling and caught me off guard. 4/5 Bottle Green Serene (Thai Milk Green Tea) - Saved this for the next day. Very floral, but a bit on the sweeter side (ordered 100% sweet, no ice). If ordering bottled drinks, I'd recommend getting the tea less sweet or dilute to taste with water/melted ice. Super delicious otherwise! 5/5 To wrap things up, I was a little annoyed/cranky about the wait time because I got there right when they supposedly opened. The estimated wait time was 3-10 minutes, but I didn't get my order from the worker behind the counter until 15-20 minutes after ordering (and this is exactly why I prefer to order ahead of time). The price was also kind of high (subjectively); $30 for 3 drinks. HOWEVER! I'm not going to lie, those drinks all tasted amazing. The condensed milk really comes through. I usually babysit my drinks for hours to the point where the ice melts, but I finished my tea so fast that I still had huge ice cubes left. I ordered via the kiosk, and it wasn't too bad. I waited roughly 15 to 20 minutes for my or drinks to be ready. I went during their buy one get one free promo for grand opening, so I decided to try their Thai iced tea and Thai coffee, each with 100% sweetness and 75% sweetness just to compare because I don't usually like it too sweet it says on the menu that 100% is the authentic Thai flavor, and I would say that that's correct. The 75% is a little bit bland and I think it's partially my fault because I didn't drink it until I got home, so the ice probably melted and diluted the tea, but I felt like the tea was a little bit lacking in flavor. Even the coffee didn't feel too strong compared to other Thai coffees I've had. I think I would still be willing to give them another shot because it still tasted good, but I would definitely go with their recommendation of 100% sweetness. read more

The best Thai tea I've had outside of Asia! I got the cha la Thai with boba. You 100% need to take the free upgrade to legend strength to get the full tea flavor. The boba quality was mid but I hope they can improve upon that. The Thai tea creme brûlée was very tasty however the burnt sugar on mine was hardly torched and 10$ for that is a little steep. I got the pandas creme brûlée as well and they might have put too much extract as it had a grassy aftertaste. Lastly as another review pointed out it auto selects 15% gratuity at checkout which is very easily missed as the price changes subtly when you go through the checkout flow and I myself got charged 6$ in gratuity. I work in the POS space and know the owner can and should change this if customers are easily overlooking it. Other than that I will definitely be back to try their other Thai teas! read more
