I'm a huge matcha girlie, and I've been on a quest to find good matcha in PVD- Ceremony definitely hit the spot! We got the Dalgona and Strawberry matcha lattes, of which- surprisingly to us- we liked the former more (just felt like the strawberry way overpowered the matcha). The dalgona was not only interesting to crunch on, but also provided the perfect amount of sweetness once it melted into the drink (could also appreciate the matcha much more in this drink). Ambiance was nice and casual with lots of tables to hang/work at, but it was really busy. Service was fast and friendly. I'll definitely be back to try more, 8/10 would recommend.
This spot serves some of the richest and most flavorful Coffee / Matcha around. The service was excellent, and I loved that they also have a cozy café bar offering adult beverages, which made the experience even more enjoyable. I would definitely return again!
Ceremony is a matcha focused cafe on College Hill in Providence that has built a following well beyond the immediate Brown University and RISD crowd it sits closest to. I walked into a space that is bright and well designed, with large windows bringing in natural light on a sunny day and a layout that works for both sitting with a drink and getting some work done. The matcha program is the reason most people come here. I noticed the menu follows seasons and trends in a way that keeps the offering from feeling static, and the flavor combinations go beyond what most cafes in the area attempt. I tried the strawberry matcha, which is the most liked drink here, and it was decent. The hojicha latte is a strong alternative for anyone who wants something with a roasted, earthier quality rather than the grassy brightness of standard matcha. Sweetener is an add on rather than included by default, which is worth knowing when you place your order, particularly if you are accustomed to cafes that automatically offer a simple syrup option. The menu also extends into wine and cocktails for evening visits, which gives the space a different function than a typical daytime cafe. Consistency on the matcha is mixed, with occasional issues around mixing and clumping that affect both the flavor and the texture. When it is well made, the quality is evident. The cafe gets crowded and loud during peak hours, so visiting on a weekday or arriving early on weekends gives you a better experience of the space. Parking in the area is manageable compared to most of Providence. For a matcha focused cafe with a unique menu and a bright, comfortable space, Ceremony is worth knowing about.
This place ruined all other matches for me. It's just so far superior, it's in a league of its own. Then the cuteness of the Teddy floaters.. stop it now. Just take my money. I like the one on south main a little better, people tend to "camp out" in the cafe on brook street with laptops and very hard to get a seat. No food which usually means you'll need to make another stop somewhere else but the matcha is truly unmatched.
Ceremony is a great cafe near Brown. The matcha drinks are all delicious and actually have a good amount of matcha flavor. They're not overly milky which is a problem I often have at other places. I also really like the large selection of hot teas you can get. They have lots of fun seasonal flavors which I always love. I haven't tried many of their snack items, but they have plenty of selection.
A place where you can actually work and enjoy good matcha and more! They have wine and cocktails too! Worth a try if you're having a tough day or just want to experience good food and drinks with a friendly atmosphere. Hard to find parking so walk if you're nearby. Good onigiri and tayaki!
Tucked away in a vibrant corner off Thayer Street, this modern coffee and tea shop is a true gem. From the moment you step inside, the clean, minimalist design and natural light create an inviting, calming atmosphere. The menu is thoughtfully curated, offering a blend of classic favorites and innovative seasonal drinks. Whether you're in the mood for a velvety matcha or a refreshing yuzu spritz, everything is brewed to perfection. The baristas are clearly passionate about their craft- friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to offer recommendations based on your taste. Served with attention to detail that borders on ceremonial. Whether you're working on your laptop, catching up with a friend, or simply taking a moment for yourself, Ceremony feels like exactly where you're meant to be.
Ceremony is an Asian-inspired cafe in Providence. It's conveniently located near Brown University, so it gets plenty of traffic from students. Parking is tough in this area, so you're going to have to cross your fingers and circle around. We popped in on a Sunday afternoon to get some drinks before a road trip. It was PACKED with college students studying in groups. There's a decent amount of tables for individuals or groups of two, bar seating near the counter, and a communal table near the back for large groups. The cafe itself is beautiful. Very minimalistic decor, clean, and bright. They have Asian pastries and snacks available for purchase on display, as well as refrigerators filled with canned beverages, liquor (wowwww), and cold foods. Near the back area, they have merchandise and local pottery for sale. Now onto the beverages. There weren't any prices displayed on the menu... personally, that's a pet peeve of mine. You can look them up online... and boy, they are steep! They even charge you ten cents for no ice lol. Since this is an Asian-inspired cafe, most of their drinks have matcha, yuzu, ube, black sesame, masala chai, etc. It's one standard size for all drinks. The owner is passionate about supporting small, family-owned tea farmers in Asia, so she sources her products directly from them. We ordered... *Dirty Matcha 2/5 (~$7) - A latte made with milk, a shot of matcha, and two shots of espresso. I could tell that the matcha they use is high quality because of its vibrant green color. It was earthy and slightly bitter with a natural sweetness. However, the espresso was terrible. I'm not sure what kind of coffee beans they use, but it ruined the whole drink. It's what I imagine murky pond water would taste like... maybe they didn't add enough milk? *Keemun Milk Tea with boba 2/5 (~$8) - Keemun is a type of Chinese black tea with toasty and smoky flavors. They also added lavender syrup, which made it taste very floral... Too floral that I felt like I was drinking perfume. I did not like this at all, but my +1 did. Just a disclaimer... the boba they use is red bean popping boba, which I wasn't a huge fan of. Service was on the slower end due to how busy it was. Maybe I ordered the wrong drinks, but I most likely wouldn't come back if I was in the area. It's a cute cafe to get some work done, but the drinks are overpriced for the portions. I didn't love it, but maybe you will.
Customer service needs a bit of work here. I walked in and the cashier said nothing to me but said hi to the customer behind me. The girl continued to just pick and choose what customers to say hi to. This whole interaction spoiled the whole experience to be honest. Most cafes are inviting and warm this one was cold and standoffish. On to the drinks: -Mango Matcha Latte: this was SO disappointing. There were fibrous pieces of the mango in this drink. I had so much in my mouth throughout the drink. See photos. I threw this drink out after a couple sips. The matcha was so watery and milky. For $7 I would expect them to at least strain the mango puree. -Brown Sugar Hojicha Latte: this was good but not good enough to come back. Overall, service definitely needs work.
Cozy cafe with quality drinks. On the pricer side ($7-10), but good for an occasional treat or meet up with friends! Matcha Latte was a bit bland/tasteless, so my friend had to add some additional simple syrup to bring out the matcha flavor. I was obsessed with the seasonal pear caramel matcha latte the first time I got it - with the pear adding natural sweetness to the earthy matcha. Second time I got it though, the matcha was a bit too bitter to my liking. Service is standard; they get the job done!
This is clearly a popular college hang out spot! There's a little section of cards and gifts and a refrigerator section with some treats to take home. I wanted the ube latte but I'm not sure if they don't have it anymore or were temporarily out. I got the hojicha latte instead and it was tasty. I also grabbed a matcha roll cake slice. I enjoyed the sweet treat. They have a bunch of interesting drinks so I will be back. Parking was tricky. Service was pleasant and answered my questions about how to get my drink (hot or iced, less sweet etc).
This was on my list of places to visit in Providence. It's so nice to see the boom in matcha cafes so I was pretty excited. The matcha was ok, not too bad. I ordered a dirty matcha latte with oat milk. It was definitely not too sweet which is great because I usually ask for half-sweet drinks. The place was packed with students, but there were some tables outside which was fine for a spring day in RI. Also recommend trying the halva babka. It was pretty sweet (so perfect to pair with a less sweet drink) and a big enough piece to share with someone. I will say- we asked for it to be warmed up, but they were unable to do that :( idk why
Good coffee, nice staff. I liked the ability to self order on the screen. The presentation of the espresso bears was an awesome touch. I would come back here again.
Ceremony is one of my favorite cafés and I visit their Brook Street location regularly. It is a modern tea house with creative and unique offerings. I have ordered most of their menu items, experienced the private tea ceremony, and attended their 2023 mid-autumn festival event. I cannot recommend this spot enough, so let's dive into some of my favorite things about Ceremony. o Food/Drinks Although Ceremony's food menu is limited, they do have some of the tastiest tea snacks around! The Chinese mooncakes (seasonal), Taiwanese pineapple pastries, and Japanese Taiyaki are delicious - not too sweet, but the flavors still stand out (red bean and lotus fillings are my favorites). The store has also recently expanded their food selection to include traditional Asian street foods and dishes including onigiri, tea eggs, and yubuchobap. As for their extensive drink menu, you will find carefully crafted concoctions such as the Adzuki Matcha, Black Sesame Latte, and Ube Latte, as well as a large selection of loose-leaf tea sourced from their partner farms across Asia. Oolong tea is my preference, but each tea is delightful in its own way. Plus, when you choose to dine-in with a tea order, they usually provide some crunchy rice snacks as an accompaniment, which is a nice touch. The tea and espresso-based drinks always keep me coming back for more. o Ambiance Every time I step foot into this storefront, feelings of calmness and serenity wash over me, and I can't help but take inspiration from the décor to incorporate into my own home. The space is light and bright, and minimal, yet thoughtful. It's a lovely space to sit and chat with a friend or to get some work done. I will give everyone a fair warning that it can be very difficult to secure a table. The seating is not plentiful, and guests are usually there for an extended time. But I've gotten lucky with getting a seat at the counter (because they don't allow laptops in that area), and some outdoor seating is offered. o Service For the majority of my visits, I have experienced friendly workers who are warm and welcoming and excited to talk about tea! In more recent days, I have noticed a lot of new faces behind the bar, but each employee seems to have the same level of intent and concentration when building your order. This is a typical café style of service - order at the counter, pick up your items when your name is called - standard and efficient. o Value Most drinks are upwards of $6. This can be seen as a bit expensive, but at the same time, the pricing is justified based on the quality of ingredients and their uniqueness. Worth the price in my opinion! Plus, they have a great rewards system for returning customers when you sign up through Toast Tab - 1 point for every $1 spent and you can claim the reward at 50 points for a $5 discount. o Overall, I highly recommend taking a trip to Ceremony on Brook Street or South Main Street in Providence. It is a wonderful café with expertly integrated Asian influence that will most certainly not disappoint. read more

My only complaint is that I don't live closer to be able to visit this place more often! On a recent trip to Rhode Island I had the pleasure of looking up some great coffee options in the area and boy are the students at Brown. Lucky to have this place around. I didn't know what to expect when walking in but the beautiful clean and minimalistic decor Complemented by studious young people was such a vibe. I am very fond of Japanese snacks and had a ball taking a look at some of their drinks and snacks available on the shelves and cooler towards the back. However, of course, the highlight was the coffee for me! The selection they had available was different from the every day, however, I always enjoy an opportunity to try something new. The staff at the counter were extremely helpful in guiding me through my first visit and even explaining some great alternatives to decaf coffee for my husband's order. I ended up trying their black sesame latte, which is was an experience in itself! Obviously, if sesame is a concerning allergen to you, or you just don't like sesame, this won't be the drink for you. However, I enjoy the earthy and nutty flavors of sesame and even enjoyed that the latte was sprinkled with black sesame seeds on top upon preparation. What a beautiful space with an amazing selection of coffee and tea, including ceremonial grade Matcha. I even bought a bag of beans to take home! The next time I'm in Providence, this will be my first stop! read more

Such a cute cafe near Brown University! You know they take care of their matcha drink when they have all the gear and whisk! It was such a great vibe to work if you need to or even to chat with a friend. They even have a bar menu. Would highly recommend this place to anyone! read more

I've been craving a GOOD ceremonial grade matcha latte, and they are hard to come by in Rhode Island. My personal favorite was always TheSHOP in Fox Point, which is permanently closed. Some online forums named Ceremony as top 2 alongside Cafe Ava in Cranston. My friend and I visited today and were disappointed that our Matcha Lattes just tasted like cups of oat milk. Their standard size is pretty large for matcha and an expected price of around $8, but I'd rather have a smaller portion with a better ratio so that I can taste the tea. The worker told me her favorite was their Thin Matcha, which is a more traditional drink made with just water. Maybe I'll give that a try next time. read more

This place is everything and more. From kindhearted people crafting beautiful lattes to the storefront where refrigerated goodies and tea blends can be discovered... this place seems to have it all. Service is exemplary; I had my to-go order in less than a minute. I will be back.... read more

Modern authentic asian teahouse with creative seasonal menu. Offers house made snacks, and local collaborations to support other small businesses. I really enjoy the summer menu. Personally love the Ume Plum Tea, which can be served iced with floral topping to enhance the plum flavor! Summer Hunter is a coffee sorbet in milk or alternatives best at preserving espresso or matcha teddy for an extra shot once the ice melts. I highly recommend this for coffee milk lovers. Ube Latte is sweet with thick taro topping and sweet coconut shavings. Frozen hot chocolate is a good choice for kids. During lunar new year, the lunar latte included adorable frozen lunar lion over matcha. Strawberry Matcha, Black sesame, Matcha, Hojicha pint size ice cream collaboration with Big Feeling is amazing. Hojicha was the unexpected favorite from last summer with dark roasted tea aroma! Ceremony supplied the quality matcha at high ratio, tasting better than store bought brands. Snacks include heated Taiyaki, dango, assorted pastries, mooncakes. Been looking to try the new mango sando, onigiri, and yobuchobap. But, they are limited and sell out. Other ready to eat snacks and drinks are stocked in the expansive fridge section. I liked the Fully Rooted lavender rosehip kombucha, Sacred cow granola, and Mung Bean pastry. Street parking can be a challenge, and it's a busy cafe for many of the Brown students. Seating is limited inside. I prefer a quick stop to go. Line can get long at times, but do move pretty quickly. read more
Ughh, I am absolutely in love with the interior of this cafe. It is super cute and very aesthetically pleasing. I also loveee the little items, snacks, and ice cream they sell in here; Everything is so cute!! I ordered a strawberry matcha latte with oat milk and it was super yummy. My friend ordered the regular matcha latte and said it was pretty good too. I was really surprised with what I experienced, since we stopped by on a whim to grab a bev but man, I will definitely be coming back!! I have spend a lot of money in NYC on matcha lattes, and the one that I had here was better than most of the ones I've had when I lived in NYC. They have a lot of options for beverages, and have a long list of specialty beverages that all sound really good. Next time, I will most likely be getting some ice cream from the freezer and maybe even one of the cute amber mugs along with my latte lol read more

my favorite strawberry matcha I have ever tried is at ceremony. No place does their strawberry matcha like this. The strawberry puree is so nice and tart and tastes like real strawberry not like artificial strawberry like at other places. the matcha they use is super high quality matcha from Japan that has a natural nuttiness and sweetness. great place to do work, employees are so nice, and the vibes are so cozy and peaceful. only thing is it can get crowded because this place is so popular. I go here so often and am always craving their strawberry matcha!!! read more

I couldn't stop myself and came back again to try the tempting Black Sesame Latte. I'm happy I gave this place a second chance! I ordered a hot black sesame latte with whole milk and the black sesame flavor was rich and smooth. I really liked this drink! It was sweet enough but not too sweet, which was an improvement from my last time here. The presentation was soooo adorable. It really is so aesthetic! I sat at a table which was really cute, and the bathroom is also aesthetic. Unfortunately, I wanted to study here but the wifi password was not posted anywhere. The wifi password should be displayed so customers can easily see it instead of having to wait to ask for a staff member. Overall though, this experience was an improvement from my last. read more

While visiting Providence, Rhode Island, I happened upon a lovely tea-based cafe that has a wonderful space, delicious drinks and treats, and very cool merchandise First order: the Keemun Latte and a mung bean pastry. The latte is made with Hojicha, a somewhat sweet and roasty green tea that makes a perfect latte. The mung bean pastry was filled with sweet textures. Second order: the iced strawberry matcha latte with a tri-color dango. The matcha was sweet with the grassy notes from the matcha. A perfect pair. The dango is a Japanese-type dumpling made with rice flour and is usually sweetened. Third order: the black sesame latte with a taro pastry. The latte is made with grounded black sesame seeds. Taro pastry from rice flour and a sweetened taste of taro. Fourth order: the iced Dalgona latte with a mushroom Burika. The Dalgona is a rich complexion of sweetened espresso as it slowly dissolves into the milk, making it richer as you drink it. The burika is a phyllo dough-filled savory snack. read more

Friendly staffs and great vibes with delicious drinks Got black sesame latte and thin mint latte both with soy milk. Sesame latte was more on the savory side than sweet. It was full of sesame taste which was great. Depth in flavor. Also enjoyed the mint kicked-in for the latte w/ espresso. Was great choices. They also have fun asian snacks and teas on the corner which was quite fun to look at :) Staffs were friendly and I enjoyed so much here. read more
The drinks are cute. The tea aroma re quite strong and unique -- unlike cheap tea you encounter daily. Although I feel most of the customers here are either there for the false belief that they're being productive "studying", the environment isn't the best for real studying. In any event, the tea aroma is awesome and is appreciative by tea enthusiasts. read more
What a cute cafe ! So I work near Ceremony and have heard good things about it before from co-workers, but never actually went myself until today. I'm not sure what took me so long to try it, but I am glad I finally did ! It's a cute cafe that is very clean and aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. The decor is simple, but nice. There are quite a few tables that you can sit at. The woman who helped me was very nice. I told her it was my first time there and asked what she recommended. She told me their most popular drink is the strawberry matcha latte. Even though I'm not a huge fan of matcha, I decided I wanted to try what most other people were getting so I got mine iced with oat milk. They offer several milk options including regular dairy milk and non-dairy options like oat, soy, and coconut milk. Well, it did not disappoint ! Firstly, it's a super cute drink (I'm a sucker for food and drinks that look nice), but more importantly, it was very tasty. It's hard to describe, but neither the matcha or the strawberry was too overpowering which is what I was worried about. It has a nice smooth flavor that worked really well together. I thoroughly enjoyed my drink and will definitely be coming back whenever I want to treat myself as it is a bit pricey, but probably on par with other cafes. read more
Beautiful cafe with quality drinks that are actually brewed from scratch and customizable which is great since I'm lactose-intolerant and sensitive to sugar. I ordered the hojicha latte with oat milk. The barista said it was medium-sweetness so I didn't ask for any adjustments there. I did end up thinking it was a tad bit too sweet, so next time I'll ask for less. They also have items to purchase (tea leaves, snacks, cups, etc.) and a refrigerated section on the side (with alcohol!). On your way to the bathroom, peek into the tea ceremony room. On a side note, the interior in here is to die for. I literally get inspiration here for my own kitchen and dining room. read more
Did I drive an hour for matcha... yes. LOL I've been coming to Providence for so long and never noticed Ceremony!! Very modern and chic, but still cozy vibes. And sitting outside was really nice and relaxing as well! I got the strawberry matcha with the bear and besides cuteness factor, the strawberry was so good- slightly jammy and tart. It paired well with the high quality matcha, and is definitively one of the best strawberry matchas in the area (better than Bostons). If you dont like matcha, my BF got the yuzu lemonade which wasnt too tart and very refreshing! I also got the red bean taiyaki and it was a great snack to go with my drink! It was warm and had a nice slight crisp on the outside, while fluffy on the inside. Next time I need to try their dalgona and ube latte!! read more
This tea "yuppy" store moved from Thayer St to Brook St in an area that many feel has better parking...My husband wanted a latte, so we stopped here to fix his craving. The way the store menu works, you can build your own drink or order from a pre-selected blend of ingredients for your beverage. Ceremony is an independently owned café and tea house, not a national chain of cookie cutter stores.. Among their offerings we could choose from Asian inspired beverages, tea ceremony, pour overs, sake mixology, and traditional Asian pastries & snacks. At Ceremony, they source teas from small farms across Asia, whereas, each season they bring a selection of carefully sourced leaves from China, Taiwan and Japan. They also carry a selection of local pottery and tea wares sourced from China, Taiwan and Japan. read more
Gorgeous drinks, yummy as heck. So many options. All with a clean crisp calm environment. I absolutely love that they also now offer coffee drinks and an alcoholic bar. Definitely priced for a little treat and not an every day drink spot. The workers are knowledgeable and friendly. Absolutely perfect spot. read more
Two weeks ago, we dropped by this tea shop in Providence for a drink. The line was extremely long due to the graduation ceremony for Brown University but the line moved pretty quickly. After seeing pictures on Yelp, we chose drinks with an iced teddy bear. They have strawberry, matcha and espresso flavored bears. I got a large strawberry matcha latte with an iced matcha teddy bear. The drink was definitely IG-able. The drink was pretty good and actually had real strawberries. I really liked the vibe of the tea shop. Besides tea drinks, the shop also sells a lot of Japanese goods. Hope to come back next time to try out the black sesame latte. read more

Quaint and charming. They serve alcohol and even have a room for tea ceremonies. Clean and modern. Staff are very nice and polite. A bit on the pricy side but it won't break your bank. Good place to sit back and enjoy company and their offerings. read more
I really like this cafe. It's decorated super nicely and has a decent amount of seating. Seems like a good place to study. Ube Latte: They had a Veteran's Day special Ube whipped cream topping with coconut shavings. This was SO delicious. Everything about this drink was great. It wasn't too sweet, either. Hojicha Latte: I appreciate the hojicha option on their menu. You can get it without the lavender (which is what we did). Very good tea flavors, and not too sweet. The drinks are a little expensive for how much they give you. We also asked for less ice but still got a lot of ice. read more

Very aesthetic cafe with lots of seats for study and a clean bathroom. Unique drink selection. I ordered a strawberry matcha and jasmine Fresca (jasmine tea with strawberry purée). The strawberry matcha was good! The jasmine Fresca was ok, not too much flavor other than the strawberry. They also sell drinks, snacks, cute cards, and drinks! read more
I'm such a fan of their new build-your-own menu! And I love bubble tea, so I was thrilled to see they've added bobas to the menu. Some people don't like the firmer texture of them (evidently you can get bobas of different "grades," and these I learned are Grade A, and different levels of chewiness), but I like them. They are made in house with brown sugar rather than honey, so they are completely vegan - if you happen to be vegan, come here! No powdered milks are used either! I love that there is no up charge for oat milk, that the syrups are made in house, and the matcha is still hand whisked. Get creative and have fun with the new menu, or enjoy a tea ceremony and learn how teas change flavor after you steep the leaves a couple of times. read more
Coffee / milk tea boba shop near Brown University. When we were there, they were all out of boba :(. We got their Hojicha Lavender Latte and Strawberry Matcha Latte. Hojicha Lavender Latte - interesting flavor that I haven't seen anywhere else. The Hojicha flavor is bitter with a hint of Lavender. It's a nice fall drink. Strawberry Matcha Latte - can't go wrong with this. This is also one of their best sellers. read more

All it took was one visit and I knew I found my new favorite spot on Thayer Street. They're consistently great with everything the offer and I haven't left disappointment or saying that I wouldn't try something specific again. The staff each time I've gone is very friendly and will give their recommendations. They're also very good if you don't know what you want and will tell you how others like it and don't rush you. Prices here are on the more expensive side, but very much worth it. I'll be back again! read more

I saw this spot from my car and decided to hop out to grab a drink on a super hot day. They specialize in matcha, but I ordered a Jasmine Fresca. COVID: The store was kept immaculately clean and the baristas were really careful and sanitary. read more
What a perfect little oasis! College Hill has certainly come a long way since I lived there, thanks to incredible small businesses like this one. Ceremony is easy to miss since it's a block off Thayer Street (and there are now so many other tea shops in the area!) but it is worth going out of your way to pay them a visit. It is part bubble tea shop, part cool cafe to relax in, and part gourmet grocery shop, plus a back room where they hold tea ceremonies?! I only had one day in Providence but I made two separate stops here and tried the black sesame latte (available with or without espresso) and the hojicha latte. Both delicious. The matcha drinks looked great too, with vibrant eye-catching green color. Some of their drinks come with an adorable little teddy bear floating on top! read more
The owner of Leafy Green, Michelle, has her own tea house! I'm a big fan of Leafy Green's products. Michelle is in direct communication with the farmers of all her loose leaf teas and ensures the freshest quality. At the tea house, you can buy the loose leaf or have a ceremony of several flavors. I haven't tried the ceremony yet, but I buy her loose leaf for use at home all the time. They change based on the season so you know it's fresh supply. The prices are more than at your average Cafe, I will admit. My favorite product is her matcha. At the tea house, you can find an array of matcha drinks made fresh. The Matcha Sparkler is matcha poured over sparking water. The Dirty Matcha is a matcha latte with New Harvest Nitro Coffee. Matcha Latte can be made with oat or soy milk. And there's always new drinks to be made! The Adzuki Matcha Latte is one of my favorite specials. Matcha Latte with a scoop of red bean added to it. Very sweet and tasty! Ceremony also has zero proof cocktails. They are tea mocktails and very refreshing. They vary in taste and style and are a must try! For snacks, there is Sino Box Pastries. They're a little pricy but quite tasty! You can find dango, assorted pastries, and more. The only thing I don't like is the location on thayer. It's tough to find parking near Brown University. Also inside could be filled with college students studying so there might not be a seat open when you arrive. read more

I've been wanting to try this place out for months but when I discovered it, they were relocating to the new spot. I finally got to experience it last week during a weekday just around lunch time. I was lucky and found parking right on the street a few blocks back in front of one of the Brown dorms (I think that's what they were) I was so excited to see they had onigiri for purchase and also some pastries. They had a small cooler section in the back with some fun Asian grocery items to try out. The set up was bright and welcoming. It's a great spot for a drink and chat, study session or meeting. Most of the indoor seating was full, but there was no line to order and our drinks came out fairly quickly. We got the taiyaki heated up so there was a nice crispiness to the outside. Two days later I ordered ahead and made my husband drive down from Northern RI to pick up the matcha red bean latte. Another delicious drink! Can wait to try more! Wishing them the best of luck! read more

I've been to Ceremony many times and am always delighted with the service and my beverages. The new location is beautiful. My favorite drink to order is the iced strawberry matcha made with oat milk. It's also fun to add a strawberry or matcha teddy. They add flavor and also look adorable. All of the drinks are delicious as offered, but they also offer many ways to customize them as well. This includes choice of milk, adding a teddy, matcha quality, shots, cbd, and extra add-ons. read more
Ceremony is a block from Thayer street and close to the Brown university campus. Not only is it a tea shop, it also sells pottery, sweets, and other East Asian wares. On the menu are a variety of tea or coffee based drinks. The most popular is probably the iced matcha strawberry latte- it's layered in an aesthetic way, especially if topped with one of their ice-cube bears. The drink itself has real matcha, not matcha syrup, so it is bitter with the only sweetness being the strawberry jam at the bottom. I enjoyed it but I wouldn't say it's for everyone, especially if you're looking for sweet dessert-like drinks. What I like is that it's open later than most cafes. The aesthetics are also nice, and it seems like a popular study spot. I would consider booking a tea ceremony here, I'm really curious to see how it compares! read more
I came by around 1PM on Sunday and was surprised to see the place wasn't packed (although there was a lot of traffic in and out of the shop). Ambiance: This is a great place to study; There's great lighting and the noise-level is medium. The music isn't offensive, machines aren't too loud, voices don't carry/echo too much. I get cold easily and would probably bring a sweatshirt the next time I come back. Ordered: Iced Dirty Matcha: $5.75 + tax. I was going to get a matcha latte but I saw a lot of other Yelpers already reviewed that! I LOVED the Dirty Matcha (it's a matcha latte with nitro coffee). At first I thought it tasted too watery, but the more I drank it, the more I enjoyed it. I read a lot of other reviews saying their matcha drinks needed some simple syrup; I personally think it's perfect without the sweetness but can see how some people would want a splash of syrup. For reference, I prefer my tea without milk and sugar, I order boba with half sugar, and I think Starbucks' matcha lattes are too sweet. Price: I think it's very fair. The prices aren't much higher than local coffee shops. It's good quality tea. Parking: Metered. It's not entirely impossible to find a spot but it might take a few circles around the block. Thoughts: So I've never been to a tea house and don't know too much about tea beyond what I buy at the grocery store. I feel what Ceremony had to present at the front counter was a LOT to digest for a first time customer at this store and a first time customer at a tea shop. They've got a lot of stuff displayed on the counter and behind the baristas that I didn't know if it were items we could buy, what they were, or if it was just decoration. Love this place! I'll definitely be back. read more

Ceremony PVD is a nice getaway from all the hustle and bustle in the surrounding area. Once you step foot into this tea room, it's easy to absorb the tranquility that it brings. It's clean, minimalist, and has lots of seating. As an Asian American, I was so happy to see familiarity from the art in the cards displayed, a package of grass tea, and a fridge with treats I grew up eating. They even had Makgeolli (Korean rice beer) in their alcoholic section! The staff were also so kind to my daughter while she browsed around and awed over the items. I highly recommend the iced strawberry matcha latte! Whether you're looking for high quality beverages or want to sit an relax for a few moments while having a treat, this is the place. read more

Love this spot. Japanese-inspired and gorgeous. It is definitely unmatched in the area. The vibe is wonderful and the staff is friendly in a way that you do not normally see in the Northeast. The drinks are unique and so delicious. We got ours to go. My husband and son got an Ube latte with oat milk, and I got the black sesame. I strongly suggest not getting the coconut and I was warned by the cashier that everyone does not enjoy it (they are large coconut flakes). Aside from this all delicious. I really enjoyed the small marketplace as well. I can not wait to return and try a cold drink with a floating teddy bear! read more
