Wow! I got a large house latte which comes with homemade cinnamon I believe and added oat milk and caramel. It wasn't too sweet but wasn't bitter, just perfectly blended. This might be my new spot. I also got a carrot cake which was so moist and delicious. The wait wasn't bad. I went on a weekday at 10am. Highly recommend. read more

Food/Drinks: I'm a sucker for trying new coffee spots, and this location has been pretty popular on social media, so I decided to give it a go. I went with one of their most popular signature drinks, the tres leches iced latte. It was very sweet and tasty, but the sweetness was a bit overwhelming. My husband got the flan iced latte, and it was the same experience for him. The quality of the coffee itself seemed fairly good but just a bit sweet per personal preference. I didn't get the chance to try their food. That being said, if you have a sweet tooth, this is a perfect spot to try. I'm planning to come back to try their food and a regular latte to really get a taste of what they offer. Location: This location is on the main street and is pretty artsy. It's a perfect spot for a coffee run or to meet up with friends. They have a really cool painting and overall aesthetic, and even a swing, which adds to the interior design and makes it cozy and unique. There is also parking in the back of the building. If that is full, street parking is available and easy to access. Service: The service was quick and efficient. We spoke to the barista who was making our coffees, and they took our order and prepared our drinks in a timely manner. I have visited Cafe Ava several times - usually early in the morning because it gets super packed. Super packed for a good reason! Their lattes are really good. I really like their Coquito, Tres Leches, & Horchata lattes - and they also have seasonal lattes as well. I usually also grab a sandwich or bakery item when I'm here as well. I like the El Ranchero - scrambled egg, chorizo, diced tomatoes, green onions, mozzerella cheese for a savory bite or their carrot cake for a sweet treat. There is a good amount of seating - I like to sit by the windows with my friends. Staff is very friendly. Definitely one of my favorite coffee shops in RI! read more

I came back to Cafe Ava to try out their fall specials drinks. One item was the Pumpkin Pie Matcha Latte. I love pumpkin pie and is my favorite type of pie and I love matcha so I thought this drink would be perfect and I had to try it right away. On a Wednesday morning around 8am, I came in and it wasn't too busy. Unfortunately, the drink wasn't as good as I hoped for. It was definitely interesting, but I do not think this combination works. We randomly stumbled upon Cafe Ava while running errands in Cranston and we are so glad we did!! We've been here at least 5 times in the past two months and drinks are consistently top notch!! I go between the Cajeta Latte, Tres Leches Latte and the Pistachio Latte. I do have to mention that I have a sweet tooth and even then some of the drinks are a bit too sweet for me. The Pistachio Latte seems to be the most moderately sweet coffee beverage. It has a strong coffee flavor, mild pistachio undertone and real pistachios as a garnish. I did try something new which was the ham and cheese empanada, but wasn't a fan of it. My wife on the other hand thought it was delish. I just have to mention that I'm not really a big ham and cheese type of guy. The café is beautifully decorated and feels warm as well as inviting. This place can get really packed, so choose your time of arrival wisely. Saturday mornings seem to be some of the busiest time to show up. The staff were really nice and knowledgeable. I love this spot so much. It probably has to be the prettiest coffee shop in RI. I love the vibrant colors, the art and the overall ambiance. Their lattes are super unique and totally worth the drive. Any of the baked goods I've had have been next level as well. You must try them! The service here is always great. Everton is super personable and helpful. You might have to wait a few minutes, but it's because they put so much effort into all of their stuff. Their drinks have a lot of special thing involved. Food: We stumbled upon this cafe randomly on a drive back home since I didn't have my coffee for the day yet. All I can say is wow!!!! This became my new fav coffee spot! We ordered the tres leches iced coffee and the cajeta iced coffee and BOTH were amazing! Idk if it was also bc we had great baristas but I'm sold! This was my second time to Cafe Ava and the food did not disappoint. The place is small put quaint. Very inviting while a beautiful layout with lovely decor and Spanish music playing in the background. They have so many drink options making it hard to decide on just one. They make small sandwiches and deserts. I had a slice of banana bread that was so delicious and fluffy. The latte was so freaking good. I would definitely get these too options next time. The ordering was quick and my drink was made reasonably quick. They do offer gift cards and you can order ahead. I believe they also have a delivery option thru DoorDash. If I had to give a draw back is even though the workers were young and sweet, I could do without the little cussing they were having while talking to each other not in an arguing kind of way. We ordered Flan and Tres leches latte, OG breakfast sandwich, chimi pollo sandwich, cheese bread and cheese cake. Sandwiches were small but tasted pretty good. OG sandwich was a bit lack laster since it was just bread, cheese, egg and the sauce. Would be better with some meat. Chimi pollo was pretty flavorful. Both lattes were pretty good. Sweet and hint of coffee flavors. I preferred the Tres leche one although they were both similar. I really liked their cheese bread. It reminded me of Brazilian cheese bread. Nice and fluffy and chewy and cheesy on the inside. Cheese cake was good but nothing out of the ordinary. Overall I liked the place and would definitely come back for their latte and cheese bread. I am a coffee-holic so trust me when I say...must try! I've tried about every coffee shop in Rhode Island and this is one of the most authentic, unique, and delicious coffee spots in the state! They put a lot of work into their coffee, so service may take some time and because they're so popular they usually have a line - but I promise it's worth the wait! It is a Latin inspired coffee shop and you won't find another coffee shop like it around. Aside from coffee there is also an array of desserts and arepas to choose from. The owner is also a local Johnson & Wales graduate (one of the biggest culinary schools around) The cafe has a cute Latin flair with white brick and patterned tiles along the perimeter and very colorful decor. There is also barstool window seating and some seats outside. It is a small cafe but has a bunch of fun Instagram worthy spots if you want to sneak a coffee pic on your gram! (Check out that neon Hoy Se Bebe sign) I got the iced cafe BomBon and it was creamy, sweet, and delicious! My other go to is usually the Tres Leches coffee. Cute cafe! It's a Columbia style and food cafe. The drinks are very creative. I ordered a Tres Leche latte and a flan latte. They were interesting and truly tasted liked tres leches and flan. My chicken chimi was delicious and the perfect portion size. The OG sandwich was just a egg and cheese ~ normal, but needed hot sauce and more flavor. The traditional bread that is filled with cheese was flavorful and savory. I loved the cheese cake. The counter had many different pastries, and I enjoyed this cheese cake because it was overly sweet, and satisfied my sweet tooth. The interior was perfect for photos opportunities, and had many photos of a family trip to Colombia which made it cozy. Cafe Ava has so much potential and hopefully w time will perfect their operation. I really like this place but I've already been 5 times and I keep seeing the same issue. Customer service is lackluster and no one takes ownership. I asked how a coffee tasted and all I got was "it's good" no details no life to sell the coffee. We were making a big order and one of the sandwiches was Togo. The girl said we had to place a separate order. Ok kool no problem in the midst of ordering we forgot about the to go one. Cashier turns away as soon as it's time to pay. We are waiting for our coffee and realize we forgot the sandwich. We see the very long line forming. I asked the cashier if we could quickly place the to go order so it can come out on time. She said we had to wait in the line again. As the rest of the party ate their food and drinks. One person had to stand in line another 20 min to order the sandwich. Their food sat at the table and it was just a bad experience when in reality it would've taken 3 min to place the sandwich order and our friend could've been sitting w everyone waiting for the food. We had just placed the order and the cashier could've own the situation but chose to brush us off instead. Also the pick up line vs ordering line is beyond confusing. The line gets long and it's understandable but they could structure the line better so people aren't so confused on where to stand after ordering. It becomes chaotic when no one is bussing the floor down or keeping order. It seems like each person has one job and only sticks to that job. I hope they come together and really train the staff on hospitality. They have so much potential. This place is doing its thing and understandable they are still coming up. Coffee, tea, bakery and small bites. We were greeted by a bubbly cashier who helped us with some of our selection since we was so indecisive. I end up grabbing a coffee flights because why not?! I love coffee and I wanted to try them all. My flight came with Horchata, Tres Leches and Coquito. Horchata was subtle and light, Coquito was thick and on the sweeter side. The Tres Leches was my favorite, it was in between the two out of the three choices. As for food I had papa's cuban and the torta. If you are undecided, you can try a flight that features some of their most popular latin inspired lattes. Their cajeta latte is definitely a favorite and well balanced for me, and the mango lemonade matcha is perfect for a summer day. t's good to support local mom and pop businesses with so many chains. It's nice to see small business's keeping it in the community. The place has a cool decorative vibe. Too bad Cranston is small and can't support longer hours. Ordered the New Yorker, Bagel with Bacon, Egg and cheese with a Cortadito (expreso with steamed milk) Sucks when the staff doesn't follow through with the promised expectations. A little bit disorganized when it came to receiving the order. One person took my order, and my sandwich came out promptly from the kitchen area. Felt a little rushed for something prepared well. The kitchen sounded busy, expectations were high. The sandwich was not. Advertised as the New Yorker, this was not on a bagel. This was a Supermarket purchased knock off bagel. Which tasted like an English muffin. Asked for mayo they offered a mayo ketchup, that was also not added. Was charged an extra $.50 for the sauce without being told it would be extra. That's a huge customer service fail. The cortadito was also a fail, the expresó is strong. But the milk to espresso ratio was off. Waited for the person who took my order to make my drink as it looks like who takes the order makes the drink. Which is silly as it looks like bad customer service and lack of team work. The one person left after they made their drink and went to the back. Then the other person came back out to finish the drink. Overall I wouldn't waste the trip, as this was corner store (bodega) food at best. Ridiculous pricing. $13 for a coffee with milk and bacon, egg and cheese sandwich is absurd.
