Blue Kangaroo Cafe - #2 breakfast Sammie on everything bagel

**Please stop scrolling!**…read more I came here on a whim while in Barrington to grab a breakfast sandwich. Everything about this place is a win, from the variety of treats, drinks and coffee, to a fabulous sandwich and menu selection. This is quite literally the BEST breakfast sandwich I've eaten. Hands down. I got the #4 on a Asiago bagel. When I tell you it's the size of your face, believe me. I'm a big dude and only put down half of the sandwich! The rich fattiness of the meat was perfectly balanced with a subtle sweetness from either the bacon or ham. I couldn't put my finger in it, but it was fire! The eggs were fluffy, the cheese was gooey, and my belly was HAPPY! Every staff member was super friendly, and treated you like they were genuinely happy you came in. I will definitely try this place for lunch and other goodies they offer. Give this place a try, you truly won't regret it!

Such a cute local cafe right in Barrington. Filled to the brim with goodies! Endless treats and…read moresweets. 10/10 for staff friendliness and attention. 10/10 for selection. (Gluten free options and non dairy options.) 9/10 for food and drink. 10/10 location (not much else close by like this place) Things Ive ordered: Berry/yogurt smoothie: missing something. Heavy on the fruit flavor in the beginning of the sip and then comes the tart yogurt flavor. Its good and healthy! Just missing another layer. Maybe honey? Everything bagel w/ cc: was not asked if I wanted my bagel toasted or not. So I was stuck with an untoasted bagel that already had cc on it- so I couldn't retoast. However, bagel was delicious and amount of cream cheese was perfect. Matcha latte w almond milk: only $5.29 for a LARGE iced matcha latte?! Move aside starbucks ! My only complaint is that the almond milk offered is vanilla/sweetened. I prefer an unsweetened plain almond milk in my matcha, therefore it tasted much sweeter than I prefer. But still great and cant beat the price. Homemade granola bars at register: omg so filling and healthy and Delish! I'm probably gonna snag one everytime I stop in. Would love other varieties:) Cute place, friendly staff and locals, huge selection, fair prices.

Ellie's is dangerous. I walked in thinking coffee and one pastry. That lasted about 30 seconds…read more The owner (adorable, by the way) was walking around checking on tables and making sure everyone was happy. It feels like her place in the best way -- warm, proud, hands-on. Pastries are legit. Super buttery, flaky enough to make a mess, clearly baked that morning. No sad, sitting-around-all-day vibes. Ordered the breakfast sandwich and that tomato jam needs to be illegal. Sweet, savory, slightly tangy -- it completely makes the sandwich. I kept trying to figure out how to recreate it at home. Not happening. Crispy chicken sandwich was properly seasoned and not dried out (why is that so hard for some places?). Fries were solid too -- crispy, not limp. And the kale salad with roasted chickpeas and chicken made me feel like I had my life together. Fresh, simple, and actually satisfying. It's one of those places you stumble into while traveling and then immediately start googling whether you can justify going back the next day.

The menu is simple but choosing what to have is still hard; everything is made of quality. They had good customer service and plenty of indoor seating. This place is going to be a repeat spot. I came here for a chat with friends and stayed for over an hour. It's busy on a Sunday morning so expect to wait for a table to open up - it's a first come basis.

He was so fun to talk to and then he made me a matcha latte with banana cold foam. While the matcha quality wasn't the best the overall drink was delicious, especially the cold foam. He told me that the cold foam is house made with really banana.

Café Italia really does remind me of a café I stopped at in Italy. Turin to be exact. But really,…read moreItaly has these little cafe's throughout and I love these marble and metal tables, the ceiling mural and the cute cupid motif. It's warm and cozy and although there were a lot of women during our visit, my three male companions didn't seem to be uncomfortable. Maybe it's the Italian vibe. We met up for a beverage and Café Italia offers coffee drinks, wine and beer among other things. I went with a hot cocoa (it was that or hot tea). Cocoa was definitely a good choice. It was lovely to look at and very chocolatey. I had heard they have a gelato flight available, which I did not see on the menu and did not ask about, but I will love coming back here in warmer months to check that out. The space is on the small side with some bar seating and a bench along the front side-walls with those cute marble tables and chairs in front. They get a good amount of seating in the small space without feeling too crowded. One waitress was managing the space alone and she did a wonderful job. Tattoos and piercings and sweet as a peach. I just want to hug her. Maybe that's just me. Parking is on street (some paid so look for the signs!) or in one of the paid lots in the area. One restroom for all at the back is modern and clean. Buon appetito
