**Please stop scrolling!** I came here on a whim while in Barrington to grab a breakfast sandwich. Everything about this place is a win, from the variety of treats, drinks and coffee, to a fabulous sandwich and menu selection. This is quite literally the BEST breakfast sandwich I've eaten. Hands down. I got the #4 on a Asiago bagel. When I tell you it's the size of your face, believe me. I'm a big dude and only put down half of the sandwich! The rich fattiness of the meat was perfectly balanced with a subtle sweetness from either the bacon or ham. I couldn't put my finger in it, but it was fire! The eggs were fluffy, the cheese was gooey, and my belly was HAPPY! Every staff member was super friendly, and treated you like they were genuinely happy you came in. Strip mall bakery. No judgement, actually a great location..lots of traffic outside. Great choices inside from candy to baked good to sandwiches. Blue Kangaroo is amazing! Their boomerang drink is so so good! Their prices are totally affordable as well. It is insanely cheap if you ask me. Love that. They also have awesome food menu. Everyone we come here everything is fabulous!! It's a popular place and can get busy but the staff is quick and your order comes out in a short time. Such a cute local cafe right in Barrington. Filled to the brim with goodies! Endless treats and sweets. 10/10 for staff friendliness and attention. 10/10 for selection. (Gluten free options and non dairy options.) 9/10 for food and drink. 10/10 location (not much else close by like this place) Things Ive ordered: Berry/yogurt smoothie: missing something. Heavy on the fruit flavor in the beginning of the sip and then comes the tart yogurt flavor. Its good and healthy! Just missing another layer. Maybe honey? Everything bagel w/ cc: was not asked if I wanted my bagel toasted or not. So I was stuck with an untoasted bagel that already had cc on it- so I couldn't retoast. However, bagel was delicious and amount of cream cheese was perfect. Matcha latte w almond milk: only $5.29 for a LARGE iced matcha latte?! Move aside starbucks ! My only complaint is that the almond milk offered is vanilla/sweetened. I prefer an unsweetened plain almond milk in my matcha, therefore it tasted much sweeter than I prefer. Rhode Island is so lucky to have a place like Blue Kangaroo. Today my visit was around breakfast time but they also have sandwiches, salads, soups, pasta, chicken parm (lots of options to take pre made meals to go!). I grabbed their signature drink today, the Iced Boomerang which is a mix of their special coffee syrup, milk and toasted espresso. It's my absolute favorite coffee I have ever had and at one point in time they knew my order the minute I walked in the door because of how often I was getting it from there. I also got a gluten free pumpkin chocolate chip muffin- they have lots of gluten free pastry items and even bread/wrap options which is amazing. They just recently updated their hours which is great so they're open later. The outside is decorated so nicely for fall and there's seating both inside and outside. Went for the yell elite event and decided to grab a couple sandwiches while we were there. I got the steak bomb with cheese, onions, and a garlic aoli in a wrap. Sandwich delicious and highly recommend! My GF got a meatball sub which was also very good, we both just wish it had more cheese on it but the meatballs were homemade and very good! Staff was friendly and helpful with helping us out since it was our first time, it was a little tight inside with it being pretty busy but they had several tables to eat in on the other side of the cafe. Cute local cafe with a great variety. Blue Kangaroo Cafe is filled with sweet smells and savory sandwiches. They have a ton of grab-and-go options, and their sandwiches come out pretty quick. Although I did beat the time of a usual lunch rush. Across the street is the town hall, and it's worth a stroll if you're from out of town. I tried the queen's blend tea, which was very light and refreshing. To go along with it, I had a slice of the cheesecake with blueberry compote and was blown away. It was thick and not too sweet, making it one of my favorite slices ever!! Being so impressed, there was one more bite I wanted to try. I grabbed a brickyard sandwich, which was filled with roast beef, peppers, blue cheese, and pepper jack cheese. The olives and lettuce also added a nice touch of flavor, but the first four stood out and made a great sandwich. The variety and the cafe itself make it a go-to spot for a variety of reasons. Be it a study session or meeting place. A spot to grab a local lunch on the go or a breakfast bite. Maybe even a replacement for your daily Starbucks. My family loves this place. Always great food. My kids ask me to go almost everyday! Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

I've learned the majority of their baked goods, muffins and scones are not made from scratch and are bought frozen from a purveyor. The same goes for the packages sandwiches, wraps and soups. I highly suggest you ask to take a tour of their immaculate kitchen. Someone will either fall ill due to some cross contamination or a foodborne poison due to mold. What a cute little spot the Blue Kangaroo Cafe is! It gave the feel of a small town country side general store with a lot to offer, and the vibe was casual and comfortable. The girl who took our order was so sweet, she was excited to chat about different cafes across Rhode Island, and seemed genuinely happy that we paid this cafe a visit. My husband and I ordered the Berry Tart, a latte with honey, cinnamon, and vanilla (it was called something like "the bee's knees latte," but I can't remember exactly), and a nitro cold brew. The latte was pretty good! Definitely on the sweet side, but not sickeningly so, and the milk texture was a bit too puffy, but I still really enjoyed it. The amount of cinnamon was nice, and honey and coffee and always a winning combo for me. However, it was a bummer that they do not offer ceramic mugs at all, even upon request. Though, the worker did say I could bring my own reusable mug for next time. The Berry Tart was unassumingly delicious. It was loaded with large berries pieces in a tasty and not too sweet compote. The crust was firm, yet tender and buttery; so good! Overall, we had a wonderful experience at the Blue Kangaroo Cafe. The next time we're in the area, I'd love to visit again! read more

I stop here for breakfast when I work on the weekends. 95% of the time, it's really yummy. The eggs on the breakfast sandwiches could use just a pinch of salt though. I particularly love the black bean, corn, and quinoa salad. I could probably eat that every day. The only downside is that it's a bit pricey for a cafe. Aside from that, the food is great, the service is friendly, and the little general store theme is always interesting. Ordered six sandwiches online a few hours before I had to pick them up. Website wouldn't confirm so I called on the way to make sure and they definitely did not have the order. The girl in the line was very nice and said the printer wasn't working. She said she would write down the order and make them. Arrived to pick up sandwiches to go out on the boat for the day, but they only made five instead of six. Went inside spoke with a guy who look like a manager or owner and he fixed it real fast. What can I say about this place on my first visit? The ambience was very cozy and welcoming, and the service was very friendly and fast even though it was lunchtime and the restaurant was extremely busy. After ordering my sandwich, I went down to the other end of the counter to wait for it and within just a few minutes, they had my order ready for me. I went and sat down at one of the many tables they have in there decent sized dining room and sat down to enjoy my lunch. I ordered the Shaky Jake sandwich, which is comprised of roast beef, turkey, pepperoni, Swiss, baby spinach, red onion, hot sauce. Since I don't like spinach, I had them remove that from my sandwich, but all the other ingredients listed were present and what a delicious combo that made! The sandwich was obnoxiously huge and I mean that as a compliment. I literally was barely able to eat the first half of the sandwich and had to take the second half home to finish for dinner that evening. I don't remember what my friend ordered, but he encountered the exact same dilemma that I did and we both agreed that this place was a hit and we would be back The next time we swung through that area. Lots of free parking in the parking lot of the strip mall that it's located in. There are a lot of other choices in the area of this restaurant, but I will prioritize it before the others. read more

I was here on opening day . It was great and it's only gotten better. The Hot n Heavy with extra sauce is the best wrap I've had in my life. No exaggeration. Everything is great. Blue Kang does so many things right. We can thank the family who opened it and still run it for that, as well as all of the great staff. First time trying this place today, the reviews were promising so my partner and I thought we'd give it a shot for some sandwiches. Walking in gives the old time sandwich shoppe feel, with handwritten chalk menus and homemade baked goods! Initially I was feeling good about my choice; I got a latte with whole milk and honey, as well as scrambled eggs w/ Asiago , bacon and their homemade sausage, topped with avocado (this wasn't specifically on the menu, but it was all ingredients they have within their sandwiches, and they seemed more than happy to oblige). It took approximately 3 minutes for everything to come out, including my boyfriend's steak special on a wrap. I was starving so I dug right in, and was sorely displeased with the flavors I was met with. Of course, the eggs were bearable, though a bit wet? My first thought was that it tasted like a Dunkin' Donuts meal, like the contents of one of those bacon/egg wraps. The bacon was soooo close to being raw, it was hard cooked on one side and the other questionably cooked. The sausage itself wasn't bad, pretty sweet but in a sandwich it's go well with eggs. All in all it turned me off and I couldn't finish anything, so I bought a fruit cup they had in store to hold me over. My boyfriend said his wrap was "eh", nothing horrible but not pleasing either. This review is based on my visit in February for the #BestDonutsRI competition.     We arrived in the afternoon after calling to make sure they still have donuts left (they close at 3pm).   They have one donut flavor available in regular and gluten free: the Pumpkin Cake Donut with Maple Icing. They had a similar donut offered last February. I'm not sure if the flavor changes throughout the year.   I absolutely love this donut. It is one of the softest cake donuts I've ever tried. The frosting and icing are so sweet and perfect with the cake. The maple flavor is definitely stronger than the pumpkin cake, but the flavors balance nicely. My boyfriend doesn't normally care for pumpkin foods, and he likes this donut! The donut is a MUST.   I can't wait to come back and try the food! read more

Pros: -Parking -Tons of gluten-free options -Many beautiful pastries available -Restrooms -Fair amount of indoor/outdoor seating -- GF Pumpkin Donut w/ Maple Icing ($1.75) Small gluten-free pumpkin cake donut w/ maple icing and a vanilla drizzle. This was awesomely buttery and moist, to the point where it fell apart when picking it up--definitely more like cake than a donut, but I'm fine with it. I wish they offered this with chocolate icing like the non-GF version, but the maple was an OK pairing. If you like pumpkin cake, get this! Pumpkin Donut w/ Chocolate Icing ($1.50) Small pumpkin cake donut w/ chocolate icing and vanilla drizzle. The cake donut was much more dry and chewy than the GF version--definitely pales in comparison. However, the chocolate icing is a better match with the pumpkin cake (they also offer this with maple icing if you prefer). The vanilla drizzle has a weird yellow tinge on the edges of the chocolate covered donuts which is visually a little off-putting, but it tasted fine. read more

I've been to the Blue Kangaroo on multiple occasions and it seems that every time I go I have a different experience. However, the number one consistency is that it's usually awkward. Not a very clear place to order and trying to scream a sandwich order to half-listening employees is often a pain. The food here is tasty but a little overpriced. The bakery treats are "eh." Nothing has really stood out to me besides thinking I can make better cookies and scones on my own. I haven't stopped coming here, though. Mostly because it's close to my house and convenient in a pinch. If a pastry craving strikes, it's easy enough to head over and try a new treat each time until I fall in love with something. The sandwiches are tasty too--certainly better than settling for Subway. The young women that work there are always pleasant and help with a smile so no complaints there. Don't drive past without giving it a try but don't expect to be blown away. read more

They also offer a small baked goods selection. They have espresso, coffees, teas and Nitro Cart coffee. If you're looking for a caffeinated kick, try the Boomerang. It's their take on a Chippi (think caffeinated melted coffee ice cream). Decent amount of seating inside and outside which makes for a comfortable place to chat and enjoy food with friends. On a beautiful Father's Day Sunday dropped by with a busy patio of families enjoying Ice Cream and their meals, and as I leave the car within 2 steps of the door someone slaps a huge "Closed" sign on the door. I'm 2 feet away with my arm reached out to the handle.. The place is busy still and I look at my phone and it's 3:00 EVEN. Frustrating and wacky to close at 3:00 on a Sunday, but to slap a "Closed" sign on a door right in front of a customer at the stroke of 3:00? A place that always remembers your name even when you're new to town. Tons of great coffee flavors, sub flavors, little side items and a featured dinner item they always put a lot of work into. Friendly staff, never had a bad experience. Perfect place for a small lunch date. Huge salads, quality ingredients, friendly service. I have never had someone there taking my order not remember my name or smile and happy to be helping. Ever. I would go back if the food were subpar just for the great customer experience. I moved to Barrington a few months ago and this is probably the best "fast casual" place in the town. Wonderful experience every time I go in. I guess if I had to make a jokey jab, I think some of their invented sandwich make little sense or have little cohesion. I was not impressed at all with my first experience. It wasn't clear where to order, and of the 5 people working it took quite a while for someone to ask me if I was all set. In total it took about 25 minutes to order and pay, with 5 on staff and about 3 customers besides myself. I felt almost invisible standing there with my slip trying to pay before the food was done so I could just leave. I was passed over by a customer behind me and someone picking up food even though I was standing at the counter. It wasn't until another customer pointed out that I had been waiting even though the staff was attempting to ring her out, that I finally could pay and leave. I was literally standing there with my food waiting to pay even after it was given to me by another staff member. Weird. I came by again and it was a totally different shift with new staff and much better organization. Everyone that day I dealt with was nice and efficient. It took less than 10 minutes to order, pay, and eat. It was much busier too.The food was perfect. For the quality, price, and size you can't go wrong.
