We came in for JUST iced coffees, having driven by several times before without stopping, despite seeing the inviting exterior. The on-street parking situation is tough, but luckily after one unsuccessful pass we spotted the parking lot across the street for the vacant Walgreens so we were set. The interior is reminiscent of cafes we visited in Italy: clean lines, good lighting, elegant tile and wood accents. It's a stylish place, with comfortable seating indoors and around both sides of the exterior. Service was very friendly and responsive. I did try to order a country biscuit (since there was one displayed in the pastry case), but was told they did t make them. The barista told our counter worker that there were some in the fridge/freezer but that didn't find one for us - disappointing, but I didn't really need it anyway, and did just plan on getting a coffee, but still... You can tell a lot about the quality of a coffee shop from a basic drink of either hot or iced coffee. The iced did not disappoint! It's robust without a hint of over-roasting; strong but not bitter. The large is a generous size, and the cup was coffee with a bit of cream (and not the reverse as happens in a few places). So, no star deducted for my missing biscuit. I'm looking to coming back to try that biscuit AND a breakfast sandwich - they looked amazing when I saw them being served up at the counter! read more

I've been to strive a handful of times now and each experience has been wonderful. I like their drinks a lot, and their breakfast sandwiches are next level good. The one with the burrata on it is amazing! The space is chic, clean and inviting all in one. I really think it's exceptional. The staff is also amazing. Each time i have been impressed by whomever helps me. This most recent experience was with Lizzy and Kelly and they were so amazing! I couldn't have had a better experience. You can tell they both really care about customer interactions, creating quality beverages and making each visit special for customers. What a great coffee shop! I'd give this a 3.5 but we will round up to 4 stars. It is super clean inside. I came for RI Food Fights best iced coffee and the barista asked how I wanted my coffee. I asked what are my options and she told me the syrups but not the milk. I felt like she was annoyed I asked questions but she also at least did help. I also asked about a cool pastry they had and she told me what it was (some cinnamon bun croissant thing) and I asked what the frosting was and she was said vanilla something. I asked if it had cream cheese in it and she was like I don't have a clue we don't bake them. Which I applaud the honesty. But was a little surprised they don't make them. They did have two pastries out that said homemade with loved. One was cornbread from July 9 (no thanks) and the other is a cookie from two days ago. I love that this place open so early! The Wi-Fi is extremely strong and I had no issues getting my work done. Staff is nice and there are a lot of options for you to choose from. Everything was perfect except for my coffee. My pumpkin latte tasted like nasty chemicals with an aftertaste. I could tell that it was just the syrup and not the coffee itself because the taste was coming from the very bottom of the cup. I was also disappointed that the build your own sandwich was marketed as scrambled eggs, but came with the premade round egg piece. It tasted fine, but just not what I had expected. This coffee stop has tons of different ways to order from online , a QR code, or DoorDash . It is on a busy intersection with street parking. The cashier was friendly and welcoming . The strawberry matcha was so good ( I ordered a small 16oz ) . So good I wish I ordered a large ! We ordered two sandwiches to go and a BYO and a southwest . Both still hot when we got home. I can see this place becoming part of our routine. If the sandwiches are this good as take out it I would love to stay in their small but cozy dining space to enjoy the breakfast right away. read more

Really good specialty lattes. I drank a hot sticky monkey bread latte which includes 4shots for a large. For food, I had the southwest brioche sandwich. It was good, I had a voucher through RI Food Fights for the sandwich. For the reason that it was "free," it was satiating, but I wouldn't come back for the sandwich and pay $10. This place is fairly new and very cute and cozy inside. There is only on street parking on a very busy intersection, so be careful! There is a good size dining area indoors. The food looked really good, although I only ran in quick for some coffees.. They have a nice selection of breakfast sandwiches and coffee drink options. The prices are moderate. There is free wifi. I was in the neighborhood and needed a place to study plus get something to eat and Espresso by Strive showed up on google as closest. First time there; only street parking from what I could see and street can be a lot busy. The shop has a lot of small tables plus little corner seat that could be cute for a date. It was a Saturday around 1pm and wasn't busy. I wasn't sure what to order but saw person in front get this hibiscus Evelyn's lemonade that looked good so i ordered it too. It was delicious but a bit pricey; a large, with tip came to around $7. It also had a lot of ice so i don't know if it was worth the price. I also got a BYOB eggs in a wrap, with goat cheese and i added prosciutto. It had a lot of scrambled eggs, cooked well but was missing something; felt like no spice or even salt. I didn't stay long because i needed to study but couldn't find a place to plug in my laptop at all, looked at all walls, so not a good study spot. There is free wifi though. read more

Great coffee shop with a pretty chill vibe. This is the kind of place you could sit for hours. Would be a great place to either get some work done of meet up with friends. We visited today with our RI Food fights iced coffee coupons, and they brewed decaf for iced coffee just for me! We also had a breakfast sandwich with cheddar, pesto, egg, goat cheese and bacon on a croissant and it was an amazing combination of flavors. This was my first time trying Espresso (my fiance second time) upon entering, the decor and general aesthetics are in line with what you'd expect at a typical local coffeehouse, very chill and relaxed, welcoming, warm. Fiance ordered a hazelnut iced latte and breakfast sandwich but was told they were out of croissants so he opted for a bagel with it, i ordered a cinnamon dolce iced latte and a turkey and halloumi panini with fig jam. Coffees were really good in my opinion, that alone would make me come back. However food was a bit of a miss for me. After being told they had no croissants, we heard a few people after us order the same sandwich with croissants (a bit inconsistent if you ask me). nevertheless, my fiance really enjoys their breakfast sandwich and the aioli it comes with, he was just a bit disappointed cause he's not really a bagel guy but didn't really have much of a choice. the turkey and halloumi would have been so good if it weren't so sweet! the fig jam spread on both sides of the bread was just too overpowering and overly sweet which made for an unpleasant sandwich. overall i would skip that sandwich in the future and give something else a shot. read more

This is my go to drink whenever I go here, but the past few times I've gone it's been horrible. The espresso has been super bitter and acidic and over powers the whole thing. Today and last week I got one (both made by the manager) and it came with this stuff floating in it? I've been a barista for years and made this drink myself many times and never had this happen. Usually this place is pretty good but the past few months it's gone down the drain with new hires that don't seem to know what they're doing or care, and losing the employees that do. Originally wasn't going to leave a review about it taking 17 minutes for ONE grilled cheese but after biting into it and finding an entire piece of paper from one of the cheese squares, I changed my mind. The guy making the sandwiches was not only moving in slow motion despite every table in the cafe being full, but I even heard him say he only turned on one of the two panini presses. How is that efficient business?? But for there to be literal paper in my sandwich after it taking unbelievably long to make was the cherry on top of this crappy experience. Absolutely terrible and awful experience. Ambience and decor was very cute. However, the positives ends there. The service was absolutely terrible. Despite only having one person in front of us in line, we waited 10 minutes to order because there were only two people behind the counter, neither of which were able to take orders. You would think on a Saturday morning at 10am, they would have more than two people working. Once we were finally able to place our order, things only got worse. The employee working the register clearly did not know the menu, and could not seem to get our order right. After several minutes going back and forth, our order was placed. We ordered two strawberry and cream matches, and two breakfast sandwiches. One important thing to note is that I am lactose intolerant. So I ordered my sandwich with no cheese. I also added bacon to mine for an additional $1 charge. The second sandwich was ordered with sauce in the side. After assuring me the strawberry and cream matcha had no dairy in it and could be made with oat milk, she brought one out (a whopping 15 mins after we ordered) and said it actually does have dairy it. She then had to modify the second beverage. After we received our beverages, we waited 45 minutes for two breakfast sandwiches. I think it's important to add that we were one of four parties in the place... not busy at all. But the worst part? Neither sandwich was made correctly. One had cheese on it, and the other had sauce on it, not on the side. Unfortunately because the cheese had been melted to the eggs, I had to bring it back and ask for no cheese, to which the employee rudely responded "that wasn't on the ticket". Another 15 minutes later, the remade sandwich was brought out with no cheese, but also no bacon which I was charged an additional $1 for. At this point, I didn't even bother saying anything, as we did not have another 15 minutes to spend waiting. And to top it off, the food wasn't even that good. To have only two people working on a Saturday morning is insane. Especially when the one making the sandwiches can't read the tickets and takes their sweet time, and the one taking orders can't take them correctly. Overall, a really terrible experience and we will not be returning. read more

I was excited to try it out as I drive by the location every day. I ordered a large dark roast coffee. It was decent, but quite expensive at over $4. For a regular coffee at this price I'd expect it to be better than decent. I'd definitely try it again, especially since it's new and they're just getting their footing, but as someone who lives in this neighborhood, the general vibe and price points feel out of touch with the community it is in. read more
