I must say, Im pretty disappointed. Ive been a regular for years, and the past year, I feel like it has not been as a great as it used to be. I actually left my last review 11 months ago. Not to mention, certain employees are not very nice as of lately. I kind of feel judged/rushed at times. It doesn't have a hometown, warm coffee shop vibe anymore. Secondly, the coffee. I have been getting a matcha lately. As for the matcha, Ive been asking for a little extra powder because the normal amount is weak. The lattes have also just not been as good or as strong as they used to be. I have been getting the same four drinks for years, and I just feel like the quality has gone down. It's good to see uptown Warren finally getting revitalized. The Coffee Depot is very modern and hip. the parking isn't the most ideal, though to be fair it never has been in that area. The menu is pretty large and the prices are comparable to its competitors. The staff were prompt but incredibly quiet. they didn't appear to enjoy what they were doing. I should also note that this a straw free establishment. they do however have sippy cup lids for the cups they use. read more

Each time I come to the Depot, a man is sitting in the leather easy chair on the west side of the room, kitty corner to the bathroom. His eyes follow me as I walk over the squeaky floor to wash myself in the sink. I turn on the fan, draw the drapes hanging around the little window, and lock the door behind me, but still I can feel that the man knows what I'm doing. I can feel his eyes burning and perceiving through the door. When I come out, I look away. I look at the menu like I'm considering buying something, and pat down my pants before exasperatedly walking out the door. Perhaps I left my wallet in my car. But the man in the leather easy chair knows why I come. He knows there is no wallet but the one in my back pocket. One day I came in and the man wasn't there. I walked to the bathroom but something didn't feel right, so I came right back out without washing up. I stared at the easy chair, which had a round impression on the seat, when the barista asked if I knew what I wanted. I ordered a small black coffee, and she gave it to me with a smile. I paid with cash and tipped well. The coffee was fresh and delicious and served in a ceramic mug, which was a pleasant touch; it has been a long time since I've sat down with a mug of coffee. As a crosscountry trucker, I usually opt for something with a lid, though I rarely drink coffee during daylight hours at all. The place was pretty packed so I sat in the only vacant spot: the easy chair. I lowered myself in gingerly, and soon I was settled and cozy, like I'd been there all my life. The leather quickly warmed to the temperature of my skin, and it became impossible to tell, without looking, where my arm began and the chair's ended. It felt like hours passing as I sat there comfortably, but seasons changed, snow fell, baristas rotated. I occasionally walked the northeast bathroom and returned to the leather easy chair on the west side, where it was always vacant and waiting for me, with a fresh mug. One day, as I was sitting in my leather easy chair, the door jangled and a young man walked in. He was dirty and had a ring of big truck keys hanging from his belt. He looked like he hadn't slept in weeks, with yellow nicotine stains on his fingernails and white dust on his pants. As he looked up at the menu for a second and passed the counter to head straight for the bathroom, I watched him, because I knew exactly what he was doing. read more

But maybe I could write a best-seller and end up on their mural someday?) Things to love: 1. Ambience. Well-lit, artsy, cool local items for sale, small-town feel but enough space to actually accommodate people. 2. Drinks. I order hot chocolate everywhere I go because my inner human is 8 years old, so I can't comment on the coffee. But the last time I was there, I had one of the best almond milk hot chocolates of my life. High five. 3. Food. The cranberry pecan and wheat walnut raison breads are SO GOOD. After a long day of walking, I was seeing mirages of those slices of bread and had to go straight to Coffee Depot. The yogurt parfait is phenomenal. The food is locally sourced and fresh and will satisfy your coffee-accompanyment desires (they also have soups and "real" food, too) 4. Staff. Friendly! Things to note: Has anyone mentioned they're cash only? Yes? Only EVERY SINGLE POST? Okay. Please be aware they're cash only and embrace it, deal with it, or stop freaking out about it. Very spacious, homey cafe. Service is super friendly. We got a couple espresso drinks, a croissant and a quiche. Food was good. They heated up our quiche and it was rich and flaky, so yummy. Coffee is New Harvest. It isn't the best, but decent. The foam on the latte disappeared after like 5 minutes, so could use better barista technique. Also it tasted a little too dark/over extracted. For coffee they have French Roast and espresso drinks, along with nitro and iced offerings. Coffee Depot has an impressive tea collection. Walking into Coffee Depot is like walking into what coffee houses were before Starbucks. Parking is nearby by town hall, and the bike path is nearby as well. Atmosphere is so important when it comes to coffee shops. This is one of those coffee shops that makes you feel like you could write a novel, even if all you're really doing is browsing social media. They were busy on Sunday morning, but not so packed that I felt bad about relaxing in an armchair with a book for an hour. But coffee is also important when it comes to coffee shops. Here, the coffee is from New Harvest. They were brewing two varieties of black coffee and also had a few types of iced tea on tap. A large (maybe 16 oz?) iced coffee came to $3.20 with tax, and the other prices seemed reasonable as well. The coffee was definitely on the strong side, which I don't mind, but if you're afraid of bitterness I would ask for some sweetener or flavoring. The employees were really friendly and helpful. I didn't try the pastries but they were offering quite an assortment of loaf cake, scones, and cookies. Coffee Depot has all the amenities: comfortable armchairs, tables, outdoor seating, outlets, a restroom, local art for sale, board games, and even a shelf of books you can borrow. This is totally a local treasure, and I'll definitely stop by again next time I'm in Warren! read more

Moved to Warren a few months ago and have been trying out the local spots. I've been to the coffee depot several times already. I've gotten stuff to go but if I get there early enough and there are places to sit I will stay and enjoy my breakfast, looking out the window And people watching. The only downside is that I like the mushroom quiche that they offer. The first two times it was perfect but the two times after that it was literally black around the edges and I had to leave half of it on my plate because it was so burnt. I'll definitely return but I will make a point of asking to have the quiche done at a lower setting. read more
