Caffe Nero hits it out of the ballpark. That's a good thing folks! The location is directly next to the Courtyard Marriott Providence downtown. Also, within a block of Brown University making the ambience modern, perky and resilient. I was thrilled at the food options being that it's a cafe. My wife and I started with a vegan breakfast sandwich (brioche rolls filled with vegan egg, sausage and cheese) I washed mine down with an Italian soda which was not too bad, but it was canned. Of course, I can't be in New England and not have New England clam chowder. The chowder had plenty and I mean plenty of clam in it but it did get a little cold due to the weight of my server. The service was absolutely amazing. The young lady was so nice and I got the feeling it was her first day though. So, grace given there. She tried hard to remain friendly and positive. She even returned to ask if my wife would prefer to add vanilla and cinnamon to her latte. Nice touch! The manager training our server had his hands full but still took the time to be nice to us. Caffe Nero was filling up with people while my server was busy trying to prepare my order. She's only human and I could see her becoming visibly anxious and overwhelmed however she held it for appearance sakes. Hats off to her! No complaints about anything because I've worked in customer service for many years and they all did a fantastic job. Thank you Caffe Nero for a remarkable and rememberable experience. I stopped by the coffee shop because it was near the convention center in RI, and it opened at 6:30, which was good for me, since I drove from Boston in the early morning and needed a cup of coffee so much! I ordered a hot drip coffee with extra half-and-half and pistachio muffins. Both were so delicious! The coffee had a citrusy flavor. It might be hard to find a parking space, as it is located on a busy street, but it is a good place to get on wifi and have a good coffee. read more

Caffe Nero is directly across from the Omni as you head toward downtown "Downcity" Providence. We stopped here three times, and dined here twice. When this place isn't too busy, it's excellent. I ordered a warm ham & cheese croissant which was tasty and on the third visit I enjoyed a warm ham and cheese baguette. The service was friendly and prompt and the food was simple but tasty. So what happened on the 2nd visit? We just stood in line and didn't move for almost ten minutes. They were processing many phone orders and couldn't keep up. We wanted something quick to eat before heading out and decided to come to this cafe.café. It has a nice rustic book decor and feeling. There was a line close to rhe door when we got there. We waited about 15 minutes but it was worth it. The service was great!! We ordered the lemon coconut frappe which was perfect blend and none of the flavors overshadowed the other. The strawberry watermelon refresher is a must to get! The butter crumb cake was nice and dense. Also, huge! The pistachio muffin and the raspberry muffin had great flavors and wasn't too much. The space here is really nice -- huge, with lots of seating and little corners where you don't feel crowded. Great spot to get some work done or just hang out. The line was long even in the middle of the day, and while the staff was friendly, they seemed a bit understaffed. I ordered a caramel latte, but it came out more like a cappuccino with way too much foam (though the foam itself was tasty and creamy). They do source their milk and coffee thoughtfully, which is a plus, and there's a good variety of food options. Stopped in for some afternoon coffee and sweets. Not disappointed. We sampled tiramisu, cinnamon bun and chocolate cake. The tiramisu was one of the best Jess has had. Light and full of flavor. Cinnamon bun had awesome icing, but likely was better freshly baked. The cake was rich and chocolatey, but a bit dry. I had cold brew with cold foam and it was excellent. Strong, but not bitter at all. Jess had latte, her favorite and liked it. Cute place, great service from Tolani. Her work partner seemed a bit controlling, so glad we had her serving us. read more

I came back to Caffè Nero for their Iced Strawberry and Vanilla Matcha. I really liked their matcha, but the strawberry preserves were a bit too sweet. Either way, it was a very refreshing drink. I also got the Butter Crumb Cake and this was very moist and smooth. Staff are always friendly and there are always plenty of seating inside and outside. Came in from AZ for 4 days & stayed at the Omni Hotel so I decided to walk across the street to check this Café place out. The place was a clean & quaint place to meet up with friends & have a large selection of drinks & baked goodies to suit anyone. I ordered an Italian Ciabatta (which they heated & sent it to space), a Butter Crumb Cake & a fruit smoothie of sorts (Opted out of Energy & Protein) & all were very delicious. The gentleman with a beard that appeared to be training a new-hire lady, was very prompt in taking my order, came off as a professional in what he does but still remained kind & made me feel that my business was valued. Caffe Nero is a staple in the neighborhood! The drinks and snacks are very good! I don't personally like the chai latte here, and since that is my go-to drink at a coffee shop, I rated Nero a 4. I tried a new snack today, their raspberry croissant muffin, which was delicious! I like that the space is very large and has plenty of seating. There's a mix of small tables, large tables, high tops, and armchairs. I love the mix of seating that can serve a bunch of purposes! The staff are usually very friendly. However, it isn't always the quickest service. If the line is long, it sometimes takes a while for the staff to make drinks and heat up food to get through the line quickly. I stumbled upon Caffe Nero on a week-end excursion to Boston. Since then, I have been to at least 6 locations ( since I live in Mystic, they are all about an hour away - but the pastries, sandwiches, coffee & cappuccino & lattes, added to the ambiance and the waitstaff's patient attitudes, makes it like "coming home" to a childhood bakery ( but SO much better!) for a special treat. Really enjoyed myself at Caffe Nero today. Went for coffee with my nephew and it would difinately be a place I would recommend and go back to. My only disappointment was no decaf coffee available, so I had to just get water. My nephew enjoyed his iced coffee and breakfast sandwich. My chocolate pastry was so delicious I got a second one. Stopped in while I was staying across the street in the Omni for a conference at the convention center. The decor is SO cute! There's a little library area with a fireplace, books, couches... and then the rest of the space is tables and chairs like a regular cafe. I had a black coffee which was really good, and my friend and I shared the vegetarian frittata, and a turkey/cheese/fig jam on a croissant. I loved both. I especially loved that the croissant had seeds for more flavor/texture. We downloaded the app so that we could receive a free pastry; she got banana bread and I got cranberry orange. They were both fantastic. The line was very long but I am attributing that to the conference and the fact that there were 1000s of people staying across the street. Tons of views of Providence from the numerous large since it's on the point/at the junction of three or four streets, and there is (seasonal?) outdoor seating on a good-sized patio slightly sheltered from the street. We came to check out the coffee and the vibe, and ended up spending about 3 1/2 hours here - getting pastry and iced drinks at first, then talking & scrolling on our phones a bit before rolling on to lunch and (perfect) hot coffees. There are several types of seating and well-separated seating areas (a sweet library nook with a fireplace, longer wooden tables, armchairs with smaller side tables, some four tops. Clearly, customer comfort is important! The coffee was excellent, with lots of choices for beverages and creamers. A few options for quick sweets (two types of Italian chocolates) are at the register to complement the choices of sweet or savory pastries, pre-made (to be heated or not?) sandwiches and individual-size frittatas (two varieties here). My only disappointment was that the frittata was microwaved in a cardboard-type container that bent from the heat so my food looked a bit... possibly dangerous. We easily found on-street parking but I'm confident that won't always be the case. It's worth driving around a bit, if I have to, on my next visits - which are sure to be frequent. read more

If you have a lot of time and don't mind the wait then it's totally worth it. Regular coffee was excellent. The Marscapone and prosciutto was wonderfully simple on a warm baguette. The Caprese baguette was also excellent. I wish I had time to sit as the vibe was cool and comfortable looking. I also had this prosciutto sandwich at South Station (Boston) which was of same great quality but unfortunately had a not so great experience on Thayer Street location. Bread there was stale and overly toasted so that was surprising. Stick with downtown although parking can be tough! read more

This is a lovely cafe style restaurant located in the heart of the city. They have a nice selection of sandwiches and pastries, and the coffee is wonderful. This is self service as most cafés and is quick. The cafe itself is nice , bright, a lovely outdoor seating and classical music playing. There were 4 employees working when I came on a Sunday morning. One person takes care of your entire order and when that person is finished they move on to the next customer. The service was a little on the slow side but luckily I wasn't in a rush. Their baguettes are baked in house and I loved that they have savory options ready to order first thing in the morning. Their ham and cheese (Swiss cheese) baguette was simple but very tasty. The scrambled egg in their breakfast roll was fluffy and a tad sweet (?!) but it worked with the salty bacon. this is going to be my first and last time at caffe nero. they would've been a 4 from me if it weren't for the service. the ambiance is great. the cafe faces the city, plenty of natural lighting, lots of available seat. contrary to their neighbours in massachusetts, there's not a lot of seating with available outlets to charge your devices if you're there to study or work remotely. there's a code that you can enter to get free drink/pastry on your first visit. the code for the app didn't work for me so if you're trying to get the free treat, make sure you put in the code ahead of time. the coffee is alright, nothing extraordinary. i got a vanilla latte, hard to mess up. unlike other coffee shops, you don't get a refill for staying there. i also noticed that my barista was very rough with my food and beverage, and he pushed them around like they didn't mean anything. they also don't provide a pastry cups (the liners on the bottom of the pastries) here for some reason. the first thing i noticed about the service here is the energy. when i was ordering, there was not a single smile from my barista, no warmth, no rapport. i wasn't sure if his lack of customer service skills was because it was busy at the time, because i had another barista and she was much more polite. based on how he was behaving maybe he was a manager? he was patrolling the cafe like something was off and policing guest behaviour by lying to them about state laws on crossing your legs barefoot (not sure why he had to lie?). i've never seen anything like it before. it made me feel so uncomfortable, and i hope no one else felt that way too. all in all, this was a very weird visit and i won't be coming back. read more
