There are easier ways to sell pizza than opening a place like Napolitano's Lounge & Brooklyn Pizzeria Smithfield. Federal Hill gives you an audience. People are already there looking for a place to eat. Walk down Atwells Avenue long enough and they'll eventually find your door. Smithfield asks something different. It's a different beast. Out here you're competing with strip malls, chain restaurants, and parking lots. Nobody accidentally ends up here. You have to give people a reason to hit the turn signal, pull in, and stay awhile. Jacob Kamborian wasn't interested in building just another pizza shop. So he built a room. Not a pizza shop with a couple of televisions bolted to the wall. A real room. The stage isn't tucked into a corner. It's the centerpiece. Microphones are already set. The drum kit is waiting. Across the room, a long wooden bar stretches almost the entire length of the space, wrapped in old wine and liquor crates that look like they were collected over years instead of ordered from a catalog. Guitars hang on the walls. Music posters fill the gaps. An American flag watches over the dining room. Warm lighting softens the reclaimed wood and the whole place feels comfortable the moment you walk in. It doesn't feel designed. It feels lived in. Come for pizza. Stay for the night. That's a big gamble. When you ask people to spend three hours in your restaurant instead of thirty minutes, the food has to back up that invitation. We ordered two very different pizzas: an 18-inch Brooklyn round, half pepperoni, and a personal Sicilian with extra sauce. The Sicilian got my attention immediately. Before I took a second bite, I flipped the slice over. The bottom told me everything I needed to know. Evenly browned. Crisp from edge to edge. No pale spots. No soft center. No collapse. The middle stayed light and chewy without becoming heavy. Every bite had just enough push back before giving way. The sauce was savory, herby, and tasted fresh. Asking for extra sauce wasn't about rescuing the pizza. It was simply getting more of one of its best qualities. The Brooklyn pie told a different story. The back crust had more body than I expected. More chew. More bread. Plenty of cheese. Plenty of pepperoni. Plenty of oil. By the third slice, the pepperoni cups had turned into little pools of smoky, spicy oil. That's a Brooklyn slice. If you know, you know. What impressed me most was that the craftsmanship never disappeared beneath all that richness. The bake stayed remarkably even across the entire pie. The rim was consistent from beginning to end. Every slice folded cleanly, held together, and ate the way it should. Consistency like that doesn't happen by accident. Neither does a room like this. Jacob Kamborian has been making pizza in Rhode Island for fifteen years. The move from Federal Hill to Smithfield wasn't a change of address. It was a chance to build the place he'd been working toward all along. A place where the pizza, the stage, the bar, the music, and the people all belong together. This was our third visit, and while the pizza is good, something always seems to go wrong here. Despite the restaurant being quiet with plenty of seating, service was pretty slow. We ordered garlic knots and two pizzas--a Margherita and a Coney Island. Our server even repeated the order back and specifically asked if we had any special requests, such as. getting the pizzas cooked to well done. I requested "medium," yet both pizzas arrived overcooked and marked "well done" on the bill. The garlic knots were the highlight--perfectly cooked and loaded with garlic. However, the pizzas were a letdown. The Margherita didn't have nearly enough fresh mozzarella, and the other pizza had the wrong toppings. When we received the bill, we saw that they served us a "Cyclone" instead of the Coney Island we ordered. We were hungry and had already waited so long that we didn't bother sending them back. At $28 per pizza, the experience at Napolitano's isn't worth it. Serving premium-priced food on paper plates feels cheap, and while we smelled fresh popcorn from the machine on the bar, none was ever offered. I have to say that compared to their tiny Cranston shop, the pizza here is pretty ordinary. I say this as someone who really enjoyed the pizza at the Cranston location. The cheese in particular was distinct in its flavor. It is just not the same here at all. Not sure why, maybe they use different cheese. The pizza here is domino's level quality now. They have a special that's 2 slices with 1 topping and a drink but the price has changed almost everytime I go go by like a dollar. Lol so I think it's like $10 now which starting at $7 is kind of a big jump. Had the tenders before, the frozen lemonade. Me and my husband usually just order our own special and add toppings. Napolitano's Brooklyn Pizza opened another area location in Smithfield, at Village Plaza on US 44, just west of I-295. This pizza restaurant and lounge offers full service dining, takeout and online ordering (when available). They offer NY style & Sicilian pizzas, calzones, strombolis, pasta dishes, apps, wings, salads, heroes, wraps, and desserts. The full service bar offers draft beer, bottle beers and cocktails. There are several tables, high top tables, and seating up at the bar. There is also a small stage near the front for live music sets. As of this posting, online ordering has been on and off since the place has been overwhelmed at times and the phone also has been temporarily shut off during extremely busy times. If you really want Napolitano's, I would also recommend going to the small Cranston location which is geared towards takeout and not crazy busy. Since I was already in Smithfield, I dropped in at Napolitano Brooklyn Pizza in Smithfield. The place wasn't too busy on my visit and I ordered in person, a Brooklyn Deep Fried Calzone ($18 plus tax), which was all set to go 20 minutes later. The deep fried calzone was filled with prosciutto, ricotta, & mozzarella with a cup of hot marinara sauce for dipping in the box. The fried dough shell was firm and chewy, very similar to a South Jersey deep fried panzarotti, iykyk. I enjoyed my very filling fried calzone in my vehicle before my event nearby. I will definitely have to come back for the pizza and spaghetti & meatballs on my next visit. read more

This was my first time at this location. I previously visited the Atwells location. Parking lot is a little tight. Shared by many businesses. There was a bad playing when we visited. They were okay. It's much bigger inside than it appears from outside. Server was also host. Given how busy she was she was still pretty attentive. Pizza was tasty. We go half cheese half pepperoni. It was actually huge. Sauce a little sweet, little flop. Overall a solid pizza. We also ordered a buffalo chicken and chicken parm grinder. The buffalo chicken was a little dry but they were happy to provide more buffalo and blue cheese. The buffalo sauce was served warm. IMO all establishments should do this. It's everything. There was a birthday party arriving as we were leaving. Seems like a decent place to host a get together. My only complaint is every time the door open you freeze. Tried to place a $100 order from smithfield, online ordering shut down due to being to busy and lack of staff. Spoke to the manager and he was excellent. Then placed the same order from Atwells ave. Let's just say not the same experience whatsoever. Placed order and it was more expensive but hey cool with that. Twenty minutes before my delivery was supposed to arrive I received an email stating my order was cancelled! No phone call, no explanation and now have to wait 7-10 days for my refund. Try calling the store but get hung up on and just rings for 10 minutes. Horrible and have to feed a sleepover read more

Rock solid 4. If you look at the bulk of my reviews, there is a significant chunk that are pizza related. Having said that, this particular spot is in the top ten for sure. The vibe of the place, and service are super chill; top-notch. It is right at the heart of Federal Hill so you can walk off whatever carbs you eat while strolling the area. The pizza itself is hand tossed and comes out thin with a nice level of integrity and crunch to it. After eating several slices I don't feel grossly overfilled like I just ate a full loaf of bread! The grease is just right, not overly oozing. They have a nice offering of garlic, parm, black pepper and crushed red for your choosing. My wife and I love this place. We like the Piccolo Sicilian pizza with several toppings. Ask for light crust, it's the best dang pizza around. We get 2 meals from one 14 inch square pizza. Nice, thick, chewy crust and they are not cheap on topping, putting just enough, but not too much. You will need a toaster oven at home because it is AGAINST THE LAW to microwave leftover pizza, lol. Honestly, it warms up perfectly in toaster over. We ordered one for dinner last night, and had the leftovers tonight. 325 for 12 mins! Ps. They got really good wieners and fries. I had high hopes for Napolitanos Pizza. We ordered two Pizzas, a weiner and an appetizer for delivery. We waited quite a while for delivery, when the food arrived, one of the Pizzas was missing, but was on our bill, so I had to call them to have it taken off, the staff was courtious and handled the issue quickly, but we were a bit short on food. The weiner was fine, but nothing special. I like coal/wood fired pizza, and even a bit of char here and there, but the pizza we did get was just burnt. The sauce was also on the Ragu jar sauce side of the spectrum, a bit sweet and processed tasting, and not my preference. Some folks may like this, however. The staff must be new, and i expect things will impove, but what will keep me from returning is that Napalitano's Pizzas are on the smaller side of the local pizza selections, yet they are literally the most expensive, staring at 30 dollars a pizza. That is just too pricey for what amounts to a very mediocre meal. read more

The dough was very good. The sauce was kinda tomato paste tasting. They made two mistakes on my order. We ordered a meatball margarita and a sausage and ricotta. They gave us a 1/2 meatball margarita and a roni and sausage. The waitress took a$1.00 off the half meatball and made us a new sausage and ricotta pizza. The ricotta was whipped or something. Tasting like cream cheese. The Arnold Palmer was excellent. Pretty pricy too. Two large pizzas (good size) with those toppings plus tip was $100 bucks. They tried to make it right by giving us a $10 gifted certificate and made no excuses for the mistakes. I'll probably give it one more shot but this time go with a white pizza cause the red sauce was not really my thing. Around 330p on a Monday, a coworker and I, were looking for something good but quick to eat before heading down to Newport after a very early 330a CST start of my day from Birmingham, AL. I must say I'm so glad that the initial place we were going was closed, because for $10 we were able to get 2 slices & a can soda, with no line and a minimal wait, (just long enough for our pizza to be heated in the pizza oven.) So the appearance of the restaurant is no place to write home about, as it's inside is somewhat small with a few places to sit and eat. The person who took our order was friendly enough, acknowledging us when we walked in, giving us time to review the menu board (which had a decent variety of items to choose from) answering a question or two that we asked. Now the pizza, it was really GOOD pizza, especially because I love, love, love, a crust that's crispy with a good chew, that's not overly sauced or heavily cheesed but has that perfect balance of sauce to, cheese,to pepperoni ratio, and these slices were done right! While it's not my favorite pizza in Providence, Napolitano's certainly gives the other big pizza places in the area a run for their money. They execute the thin crust NY style pizza well. I ordered a slice of pepperoni as part of Lord of the Pies and was surprised to see they gave me an extra slice for free because the original slice 'looked a little small'. Their pepperoni pizza has a nice crisp, light crust, and the topping was nicely done as well. The best thing I've purchased here is their candied jalapeno and bacon pie. That is a must get if it's your first time coming! The ambiance could be improved, the establishment is split into two halves. The pizza side and a separate room with a bar and area for open mic nights. The pizza side has bizarre seating with tables that are extremely long and placed right next to each other such that it would be hard to have multiple people sitting at the long tables. There are a few high tops in the front as well. This is a nice spot to stop for a slice or pickup a full pie in the heart of Federal Hill. read more

Our food took 75 minutes to come out and I was never asked for a drink refill. The pizza is tasty but they really need to take a hard look at their customer service.
