I will say that the decor was nice, with blues and whites that were reminiscent of the sea. The bar also had a large TV mounted above it with an aquarium scene playing. The lights also seemed to have an aqua theme and reminded me of bubbles rising through the ocean, although I thought the restaurant itself felt quite dim. For dinner on this evening, I decided to start with the fried calamari appetizer and then went with the Crudo Burger for my entree. The menu described the fried calamari as "tender calamari lightly fried and sautéed with tempura zucchini, banana peppers, and garlic butter." The Crudo Burger was described as an "8 oz house blend burger topped with lightly fried Brie, bacon pepper jam, roasted garlic aioli, and arugula on a buttery baked brioche, served with our signature fries." The calamari came out first and had great breading that was light and sort of shattered when I bit into it. I loved the banana peppers, but the calamari itself was rubbery. The zucchini was a fun addition that helped break up the flavors, and I wish there had been more of it. I also would have liked to taste more of the garlic butter. Once I finished that, my Crudo Burger came out, and between the burger and all the French fries, it was absolutely massive. On my first bite, I got hints of maple from the bacon jam. The burger itself was cooked nicely to a medium and had great flavor, while the bun was nicely toasted. My fries were good as well, seasoned nicely with some Parmesan and truffle flavor. Last but not least was the fried Brie in the middle of my burger. Honestly, it sort of put me over the top, and after eating it, I couldn't finish anything else. I ended up getting both the check and a to-go box for half of my burger and three-quarters of my fries. It's worth noting that my server was nice and enthusiastic throughout my time there. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. While I felt that the calamari was overcooked, the burger and fries were delicious, and I thought the decor was tastefully done as well.

Both got the lunch special (3 course - salad, main, dessert) for about $25. Caesar salads were great - one of use got the chicken piccata (that was the highlight!) and chicken parm for the other (it was good, nothing insane - and they give you lots of pasta). Portions were quite large for a lunch portion - can't imagine what the dinner portions are! Desserts were also delicious (cannoli and tiramisu). Service was attentive throughout the meal - and got to sit by the window and watch the people walk by.

Based on everything we tried, I would definitely recommend the veal Parm. I ended up sticking to the regular menu and ordered pollo alla scarpariello. It was very tasty and huge. I brought at least half home with me to eat the next day. My husband ordered the halibut special. He said it was really delicious. My son ordered the bolognese, which he ate but didn't care for the creaminess of it. One thing I will note is that I wish they had a better selection of wines by the glass. They had a great list of bottles of wines including some super Tuscans , which I love. The wines by the glass list was lacking though. I was the only one at the table drinking wine so I wasn't going to order a bottle. Overall a great experience and we are looking forward to returning.

Just a note, you need to make a reservation because this place gets packed, even if you're the only one coming in. I wanted a reservation right before I needed to park for WaterFire, but they didn't have any in the 4 o'clock hour open, I had to book for 3:00 instead. This was also the only stop on my tour that was recommended to me by someone else. Every other place I had either chosen myself or had only had help from AI to formulate a plan for. Though the person who recommended me this place while I was work told me about Terry, I was helped by Charlotte which was fine by me. This allowed me to have a more unbiased service and makes this review a more fair one. I will say that finding parking for this place, or even trying to get here in Providence, was a nightmare. Everywhere I went, every car seemed to want to crash into mine, and the GPS even played their part in trying to kill me coming here. Yeah, apparently it's against the law to try and come here alive if you're driving. But thankfully I survived that, and I would say this place was worth the trouble, even though I would probably choose to go somewhere else next time if I want to find better places in Providence to drive to. The attire is business casual, so keep that in mind when dressing to come here. And it is an intimate spot, even though it can be a bit loud in here sometimes. But the service is worth coming here alone, and the casual atmosphere helps its case here. If you aren't driving, then this would be a great spot. I will also mention that you do have to climb a few steps to get to a bathroom, so if you have disabilities, this place isn't all that ADA-friendly. They serve a complimentary bread basket and I got water served to me from a pitcher though you can also have a bottle served to you. They even light the candle on the table, so this lunch was a nice candlelit affair if I do say so myself. I also ordered the Apple Cider Sangria for my drink since it was a fall special. That said, I could only have that one because, again, I still had to drive later, and that includes a 2-hour night drive all the way back to Connecticut. Plus, I was going to get more libations at WaterFire, so that was more reason not to go more than one on the sangria. If not for those things, I absolutely would have ordered at least one more sangria! It was delicious! The sliced apples served with the drink were green. The bread basket had a hard crust that you could still bite your way down and a soft bread inside. For an appetizer, it will get the job done. And it was complimentary which was nice. For food, I only went with the shrimp scampi this time around. There was going to be more to eat at WaterFire, and I did also have Viiny's Kitchen in Wickford and a lobster roll in Newport before coming here, so I kept my food choices at this restaurant more muted than I would have otherwise. The reason this was the dish I went with was because I wanted to continue on with the theme of Rhode Island seafood, but I did come very close to ordering the fig ravioli since it was a special they had and sounded like it was really tasty. This was a delicate decision that required some extra time for me to pick. I did have another waitress add some extra black pepper to my scampi, and then made a LOT of difference! It was already good on its own, but the extra black pepper elevated it into something special. Overall, a good place to eat if you're not driving. The driving portion was what brought this down to a 3, but it's still a 3 and a half if anything. I would probably pick another place to eat if I find myself in Providence again, but I will still recommend this place if you're looking for good Italian food and great service. Just make a reservation, and, if you're driving, try not to get killed coming here.

The chef/owner Luigi is a really friendly older man from Italy. He's the real deal and he runs an amazing restaurant and kitchen. He once told us that he goes to the market at dawn every day to pick out the choicest produce. Everything is made fresh. The Place isn't fancy, but they've made it nice with the space they have. It is a hidden gem. They serve only beer and wine, soda and water. I've only gotten half carafes of Cab. But the chef came out and had shots of homemade limoncello with us before and gave us complimentary Bruschetta. Rumor is they get their bread from Buono Italian Bakery in Providence. I've been there for double dinner dates and dinner with the kids. I highly recommend.
