Started off with a special app not on the menu....green and red tomatoes with burrata, balsamic and oil with prosciutto . Not bad. The house salad was basic. No effort in presentation. My plate had a large crack in it. I got the Bolognese as my main course, which was very basic and lacked any depth or taste. I believe they use homemade pasta, however that is no good if you over cook it. The Pappardelle was mush. My GF got the Homemade Ravioli al Formaggio e Salsiccia....again lacking any real flavor. You would think from the description and ingredients it would have been a flavor bomb but no...just a bomb. Atmosphere was great and waitstaff great but not enough to bring me back. If they can't get Bolognese right I would imagine other dishes suffer the same fate. read more

Met family for a birthday dinner on a weeknight. From the moment guests arrive, the staff is attentive and accommodating. The bread service is generous (both Tuscan style and an additional garlic focaccia). There are evening specials, verbally recited, so pay attention! Everyone loved their entrees & cocktails. My substantial bone-in pork chop (special) with vinegar peppers & roasted potatoes was topped with a grilled fennel sausage and was juicy and delicious. My meal was preceded by a house salad with blue cheese dressing--nothing extravagant, but solidly above average. My dessert selection was the affogato and hit the spot! It was a little non traditional but very tasty! The table setting was well appointed and the old world classic vibe of the restaurant itself is soothing and elegant. They don't care about their patrons. Long story short our waiter was Frank. Seemed a bit off but we went with the flow because we're fun. I ordered a different sauce on my special ( one of the specials Frank rattled off ) it was angel hair pasta with lobster shrimp and scallops I wanted the cream sauce not the vodka. Frank assured me I could have what I want. My meal came and it was vodka sauce. We both recognized the kitchen made a mistake. Frank took it back to kitchen. He came out with the same meal seconds later stating the kitchen said it's good and I should try it this way. My husband was already eating his entree and I was hungry and I made the decision to take it because I didn't want Frank to get into trouble ( we thought Frank messed up ). Frank did not mess up. He clearly wrote Alfredo on the slip. It was the KITCHEN that refused to make it right. Here's the kicker.... Luciano's charged me $84 for my entree!!! Yes $84. Our bill was $163 with two entree and 1 beer and 1 sangria. Needless to say I was shocked and not happy. I was so disgusted that I left a 20% tip ( because Frank got it right it was the jerks in the kitchen that wouldn't change it to what I wanted. ). Never again. I tried to reach out to Luciano's 3 times and they never got back to me. Never never again. This place is way over priced and a bunch of snobs. I walked knowing I did the right thing regarding the tip but I was fuming over their non response to when I reached out to them. GO SOMEPLACE ELSE. My friend took me here for my Birthday last week. I had never been but its my new favorite Italian restaurant. Wendy is a phenomenal server and I was impressed listening to her recite the specials menu. It probably took her 3 or 4 minutes as they have a large menu and specials menu. I ordered the chicken saltimbocca and it was incredible. The portion was large enough to enjoy plenty of leftovers the next day. I loved the lobster ravioli and stuffed mushroom appetizers. The desert menu is so unfair HAH! SO MUCH TO CHOSE FROM with very little space left to put it. I enjoyed this experience so much and look forward to dining there again. See you soon Wendy! read more

This was our first time at Luciano's and will be our last. The restaurant was decorated beautiful and Nelson our server was great. The are quite few reasons we will not go back. When the server tells you the evening specials you are left to guess how much they are charging for them. Personally, I think you shouldn't have to ask the cost of specials seeing as the menu has prices. We did asked the price of the filet mignon special because the 2 on the menu were a 10oz for $69.95, other filet was 10oz for $71.95. the 10 oz filet mignon special was $99.95 with asparagus on top with a demi glaze & mashed potatoes. So I am guessing the asparagus is the reason for the additional $30.00?? One of the other specials was a whole lobster with the lobster meat and stuffing inside and a side of mashed Unfortunately we did not ask the price of this special. We really didn't think it would be more than the filet. Guess again...bill came and the 2 lobster specials we had ordered were $120.00 EACH. Husbands had chicken dishes, we had total 4 glasses of wine, 1 baileys and 2 desserts. Bill total $450.00 yet this really isn't the main reason I am writing this review. The maitre had come over to our table to ask how our meal was, he never made eye contact with us again and completely ignored us answering his question. He was merely trying to push us along to free up the table. He was rude and arrogant to say the least! Meanwhile after spending $450.00 for what was really just an average dinner this is how the patrons are treated. No thank you. We will stick to Mia Regazza in Abington or Marshfield or Alma Nova in Hingham to just mention a few. This place looks fancy, but the staff is rude and inattentive. The girl refilling water glasses reaches across table, puts her fingers in the glass to grab it then fills them. So she has her unclean hands inside everyone's water cup. The waiter never came to ask if anyone wanted a refill of the drinks. $30+ for pasta and chicken, but it comes with the cheapest iceberg lettuce salad you can imagine. So you start off dinner with low expectations. $70 for steak that's not seasoned well. This place used to be so good. Stellar quality and service (used to be). You will get a super delicious meal here. However, the front of staff are really rude. When you run a high end restaurant you should hire hostesses and front of house as personable people. These people are cold as ice. I wouldn't recommend an evening out here. Go to federal hill in Providence. Also, one of the things here that needs work is the specials menu. Your server will verbally tell you the specials but not the price. One time I ordered a baked stuffed lobster off the specials. It was a 1.5 lb lobster overcooked with bay scallops in it. Guess how much..... 80 dollars. I'll just cook that sucker at home my friend. My wife ordered seafood pasta. 53 dollars and it was nothing to remember other than this review. In stark contrast I just made a seafood pasta at home for three people loaded with clams, shrimp and lobster for a hundred dollars. Not looking to pay for that much ambience. Last time we went, not terribly busy sat at bar for 10 minutes while waitress and bar tenders stood around chatting. After 15 minutes, no menus, left. Went out early on a Saturday,Bar side service was great as always.always get the veal or chicken parm or the chicken Bocca when on there specials .The food was spot on Red sauce was always fresh with the mozzarella melted to perfection!My only regret is that the specials were more affordable ,I know that prices for meat is up there but 100.00 is quite expensive for a rib eye.Hopefully prices will come down in the near future or they should maybe rethink some of there specials to accommodate a lot of customers who view that special menu and say no way it's worth the price point. read more

For so many years, Luciano's was known as that "special" South Shore restaurant unfortunately, this is no longer the case. My wife and I dine out at least 5 nights a week, we're no strangers to "great" restaurants yet hadn't returned to Luciano's in over a year due to failing to deliver anything memorable when dining there. An invite from friends this past weeked brought us back there again and unfortunately, this continues to be a mediocre establishment, offering nothing special. Food is just average and the drinks left very little to be desired as well. Our waiter appeared to understand our fairly simply drink order yet somehow, each of the four drinks brought to us were simply awful, likely more of a bartender issue yet who knows. An enjoyable evening with friends however, we won't be recommending or returning to this restaurant again. read more

Luciano's is probably one of my favorite restaurants in the Wrentham area. The place calls to my youth and old traditional Italian food and life. If you are 40+, you will appreciate this place a lot. Any younger, and it will feel dated and old. In truth, the restaurant hasn't really changed in decades - but I'm ok with that because of the food. Luciano's is the perfect date night restaurant. You are treated like you are someone important and the service is outstanding. You come to Luciano's for the food though. Authentic Italian dishes that would make my grandmother happy. The rigatoni a la zingara is amazing and their gnocchi call too me every time I go. Everything is fresh and flavorful and they always have an extensive specials menu. Went here for my birthday dinner and all I can say is this place could stand up to the North End and Providence and be just as good or even better. Seriously one of the best chicken Parms I've had in a long time. I judge an Italian restaurant on how good their chicken parm is and this was not disappointing! Tender yet crispy chicken cutlet with the right amount of cheese and sauce. Food arrived hot and fresh . I will say that I'm not a huge fan of pasta with sauce on top (not mixed) this definitely needed a little more sauce but the sauce it had was good. My husband had a chicken cutlet with sauce (allergic to cheese) and he loved it I would definitely go again in fact we got a gift card we loved it so much. The waiter. What can I say about him! He was fantastic great sense of humor you could tell he's been doing this a long time very attentive and professional with some personality thrown in. He made us feel special even though we just ordered basic stuff and when he found out it was my birthday he brought us some amazing tiramisu. My boyfriend and I both ordered the Gnocchi al Segreto. It was so delicious. The gnocchi was the perfect texture and the sauce was one of the best red sauces I had ever had. The waiter also gave us 2 different types of delicious bread, as well as an amazing olive oil mix. The service was great. The waiter was very on top of everything and very knowledgeable about the food. The table also included a nice light dimmer, so you can adjust it to your liking. If it was only the dinner and our waitress at dinner, I would give 5 stars. Just delicious. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. Where I have disappointment is the whole vibe before we sat for dinner. When I arrived, I let the hostess know I was a little early for my reservation and just wanted to check in and I was going to the bar while I waited for my friend to come. At first she couldn't find my reservation and I stood in awkward silence while she looked. And then barely a response when she found it. It just felt very unwelcoming. So I went and sat at the bar, where there were only three other people sitting. Not busy at all. The bar staff was noticeably annoyed at something and complaining to each other about something, which as far as I'm concerned should not ever be seen by a customer. There were two bartenders - one was clearly the service bartender for the wait staff, and there was another one for what appeared to be for the bar customers. I was there for probably a good five to ten minutes before anyone even made eye contact with me. Mind you, the bar was pretty much empty, I was alone, and the bartender was leaning against the bar with her hands folded chatting with a customer. It felt like I was purposely being avoided. Very strange vibe and not what you'd expect at a restaurant such as Luciano's. Eventually I called the bartender over and she gave me barely a hello. I asked if they had a blood orange martini and she just said no and then silence. So I asked if they had anything similar to that, and she said "not really" and again, silence. Really strange. So I ordered my normal go to, a dirty martini. She walked away and made it without a word. When she gave it to me, it was very full and spilled all over the cocktail napkin and she just walked away. I'm not even sure it was a dirty because I didn't really taste the olive juice but she was gone so fast I couldn't ask her. I asked the service bartender if I could have some olive juice and he gave me a side car of it without a word pretty much. When my friend got there and joined me at the bar, she pretty much got the same treatment. After she sat for a few minutes and no one greeted her or asked what she'd like to drink, we called her over and she ordered her drink. This was not a relaxing or enjoyable feeling so we decided to just go to our table then. Thank goodness the dinner experience was good, because it did not start out that way. When you go out to a nice restaurant, you are paying for the experience as well as the food and drink. Very disappointing that a restaurant with this much history and success would be like this. I hope it was just a fluke and isn't the direction the restaurant is going. Luciano's is one of the few truly elegant restaurants left in the area and service is so important to the experience. read more
