Lots of yumminess
Christina R.

I love a good bakery and will always stop at the popular ones in the various places I visit. We made a trek to this side of the neighborhood just to come get some of the supposed delicious pastries and it was absolutely worth it. Walking in, the cafe itself is nice and cozy but also large with plenty of seating. The place feels cozy, like the kind of place you want to have a warm coffee and a sweet treat. The outdoor seating is also really nice, and when we went almost all of the seats outside were taken. We went in the afternoon and thankfully there were a lot of good options to choose from, pastries wise. We purchased a cookie to share, a cinnamon bun and a pumpkin kouign amann. Each of those items was absolutely delicious and I am still thinking about that pumpkin queen. SO GOOD! The service was also really nice. We took a long time to decide and we never felt rushed or judged for not having an answer right away. When we finally did decide there was a lot of kindness and patience and I appreciated that. If we lived here, I'd show up here a few times a month to get some great pastries and what I'm guessing is great coffee.

Valentine Heart Cookies perfect pairing with tea

This was my second visit to Seven Stars Bakery. I stopped in on a mission to find a round loaf of hard, crusty bread to serve with a steak dinner, and since I had just picked up a cake down the street, the location was super convenient. The snow made street parking a bit tricky, but thankfully there are a few parking spaces in the back of the building. Once inside, the bakery was lively and smelled absolutely delicious. There was a great selection of fresh artisan breads to choose from. I ended up with the durum loaf, which was perfect since I planned to make an olive oil dipping sauce. The bread was exactly what I hoped for crusty on the outside, soft on the inside, airy with a mix of large and small holes, and full of flavor. I also couldn't resist picking up two Valentine heart sugar cookies with jam because they were just too cute. The only minor downside was that the employee who helped me wasn't very smiley. Not rude at all, and my order was handled quickly, but it felt a bit different from the warm cafe vibe you might expect. Prices are higher than if you went to a mom and pop bakery but this was expected. Overall, a great stop for quality bread.

Seasonal latte, hot cider, lemon cake, and almond biscotti

I love Seven Stars, especially this location! The drinks and snacks are always delicious, and it's a great place to get some work done. On a Sunday afternoon, business was definitely flowing. However, it didn't get too loud or hectic, which I find can be a concern in many coffee shops/cafes. The staff were also welcoming and helpful. The biscotti was the star of the show on our visit. It definitely needs to be dunked in something to get the right texture (totally expected for a biscotti), but it was delicious! I also love that they have seasonal drinks and plenty of options for us non-coffee drinkers. Their loyalty program is also great! Awesome to get a free loaf for your birthday!

Cappuccino, brownie, pecan bun

Made two stops here in one day while visiting Providence a few weekends ago and we loved both the hot drinks and the baked goods. The pecan bun was my favorite, very satisfying, not cloyingly sweet, with a generous heap of pecans on top of a crisp-flakey pastry. The morning glory muffin was moist and studded with carrots, golden raisins, and nuts. The ginger scone was just slightly sweet with chunks of crystallized ginger. The molasses cookie had a slight chew and lots of raw sugar for crunch. I will definitely stop by next time I'm in the neighborhood.

I have been to other locations of 7 stars before but this was my first time at this one. Lots of seating. Great for studying or doing work. Great pastry and food selection. Employees are very friendly. Their lemon cake is the best. So moist and lemony. Must get.

It took me longer to walk to Seven Stars Bakery from my street parking spot than it did to get in & out of the shop with my order today. Pretty neat. I got an iced london fog with oat milk & honey, as well as 2 pastries made with almond flour. The kind barista made it clear that cross-contamination was a given, so they were not fully gluten-free. I appreciate the clarification. The two pastries were an almond cookie thing & a coconut ball thing. This was pre-caffeine so please pardon me for not remembering what they were. I do remember, however, that they were absolutely delicious. The last time I was at Seven Stars, which I think might've been *years* ago at this point, they had no wifi. That's part of the reason why I hadn't gone back, since I WFH. I know the whole wifi thing is strangely controversial. That being said, I always appreciate places that offers wifi for paying customers. That way I can clickety clack somewhere else other than my couch at home. I'm not sure if they offer wifi to the public yet. I'll return & report back.

Croissant, quiche, and matcha
Diana C.

This bakery was pretty good! Their croissant was flakey. They also had a good mushroom quiche. The matcha was fine. The service was also fine. I liked the bright and open seating area and all the natural lighting. I'd probably go back if I was in the area!

I gave this man simple instructions, I need a freezer bag and if he could pack the slices of cakes in a container that can withstand moisture from the ice because I have to travel 6 hours to bring these cakes home. He said he understood it. He offered that he will wrap the paper boxes in saran wraps. He asked me what time I am coming back and I told him that I will return in 15 minutes, I just want to walk around Federal Hill to find a take out lunch. He has my orders written down and just before I was ready to leave, he said he forgot to charge me for the freezer bag, the first thing that I asked for. So just to make it easier, I just handed him exact cash so he can ring it on the cash register by himself and I can leave. When I came back, it was more than 30 minutes, when I approached him to pick up my order, he said to me that he did not pack them yet and he told me to wait as he is packing somebody else's cake orders who seems to have a bigger order consisting of a lot of different whole cakes. I told him I have a Lyft driver coming but he said he has to take care of that customer first. This is what I am afraid of, this is why I tried to talk to people face to face for better communication and yet the service seems to still lack from this establishment. Mind you, all I ordered was 4 slices of cakes and two brownies. My order was forgotten; as soon as he realized that, he should have remedied the issue promptly. The size of my order does not justify receiving inferior service. The incompetence is very frustrating and I am refraining myself from losing my cool and I m trying my best not to create a scene, all I wanted was a better service as time is ticking and I already paid and tipped for the food and service much earlier than all these people. I was debating in my head if I should just ask for a refund but that could take just as long. I don't get a sorry and he is not hassling, he is taking his time, if he just packed mine earlier when it is not even that busy when I originally came, then there will be no issue. So I approached the other cashier who is an Asian girl and she hassled to finish fulfilling the order from her current customer and helped me, I explained to her what I mentioned to the older guy that I needed the slices of cakes protected since they are on paper boxes, and that I was told they can saran wrap it. The male staff member did not say sorry to me and was just muttering loudly to the asian girl that he totally forgot to do my order. I recommend that he needs to fulfill the prior order first before moving to the next customer so he doesn't lose track and forget. Some people belong in the back instead of dealing with customers in the front, if this person cannot focus and tends to be forgetful and disorganized, please don't put him in the front. It's infuriating. Time is money and if he doesn't understand that or cannot seem to be efficient, then he should leave the front service to the professional. The cakes, just what I thought, the moisture from the frozen ice packs I placed inside got in some parts of the paper boxes and into some parts of the cakes and brownies, the saran wrap did not work. I hope they have an option for sturdier containers to better protect the pastries inside the freezer bag that they sell. If I visit Rhode Island again, I will try out another bakery like the Madrid European Bakery & Patisserie. Pastiche may have a longer reputation for cakes, but the horrible experience leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

That's saying a lot because I have sampled many, many croissants. The Yum roll was melt-in-your- mouth delicious with the perfect balance of sweet with a hint of salt, crunchy around the edges and topped with a delightful creamy drizzle of caramel. The plain croissants were perfectly fluffy and flaky. The almond square was pure heaven with a deep almond flavored frangipane surrounded by crunchy layers. The bakery itself is really cute.
