    Chocolate chip cannoli.
    A P.

I thought I would have a really great cannoli here but unfortunately not. I walked in with high hopes as I saw a sign that says cannolis are filled to order but the lady just pulled one pre-filled pastry from the display. My first bite was bad as the outer edge was soggy, the filling was too sweet and there's a strange ammonia flavor in the pastry center. A real let down.

    Delicious treats!

Heavenly little shop in the heart of federal hill. We stopped in for some fresh baked bread and couldn't resist a few little sweat treats. They were so good!

Smells are free, but the pastries are a bit pricey. Very good and lots of Italian sweets. Build and fill your own cannolis.

walking down the streets of federal hill, atwells ave has everything you could possibly need when it comes to finding a good place to eat. scialo bros is no different. i originally happened upon this bakery when i was searching for a cannoli. with a name like theirs, i knew it was going to be good but i wasn't prepared for how good it was going to be! spoiler alert, i didn't get a cannoli because it wasn't clear that these were made to order, and i didn't see any in the display case. instead, i ordered a lemon tart at the recommendation of the nice gal who helped me and i tell you what, she did not disappoint! the crust was perfectly buttery and the lemon flavor of the tart was the perfect amount of sour. the crust was slightly soggy at the tip, but i think this was just because all the beautiful flavors were melting out of this absolute goddess of a dessert. the blueberries were a perfect complement to the flavor profile as well. i'm drooling just remembering it! my only reasoning for not giving 5 stars is that there is no menu anywhere online or in store (at least that i could find) and there is nowhere designated by the bakery where you can eat your sweet treats. i ended up finding a place a block or so away where i could eat but i'm not actually sure i was supposed to be eating there lol. the best part of my experience wasn't related to the food or establishment at all, but it has to be documented in my yelp reviews. i was taking the last few bites of my lemon tart when a huge gust of wind blew a nearby umbrella up out of the patio table it was sitting in and was heading RIGHT toward me! lucky for me, an extremely attractive man with an adorable accent walked up at the perfect moment to save me from being impaled. in summary, ask for a cannoli to be freshly made if you want one, but if you're not in the mood for cannoli you'll find some crazy amazing stuff here in any case! thank you scialo bros!

Mini blueberry pie, pecan, tart, and pear tart

I stopped in the bakery on the weekend morning with friends. They all wanted to get cannolis. They were filled fresh to order. They all thought it was delicious. I was looking for something that traveled well home to Connecticut. I found these cute little pies. The customer service was great. She was very helpful and considerate. I purchased a small, blueberry pie, a pecan tart, and was recommended to get the pear tart. Each were $7.50. I tried the blueberry pie and I really liked it. They had tiny blueberries. My husband really liked the pear tart. It has almond paste in it as well. We did not get to eat the pecan tart yet , but Looking forward to eating that tomorrow. I would highly recommend trying the bakery out . They have cakes, Italian pastries, cookies , pies , cupcakes all different things to purchase.

Let's talk about this gem of a bakery on federal hill with the most scrumptious cinnamon ricotta tart. I'm having a hard time putting into words how mind blowing this tart is. I had to take a moment to understand what I was tasting. The fruit tart didn't hold as much of a punch; but that fruit is F.R.E.S.H. Note: No seating available. It's more of a pass by, grab and waltz around federal hill while enjoying your tart (or maybe I'm the only one waltzing)

I wasn't in the mood for coffee, but my friend enjoyed a nice cup of hot tea. At first I thought the prices were a little high, but after I considered the high quality of the ingredients anad the generous sizing, I think their prices are right on target. The cafe eating area is spacious and is perfect for conversations or quiet work. The entire cafe is super clean and the employees were friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back!

I ordered an apple tart and a small piece was $7.50! Yes, it was good, and the cream was wonderful, but paying about $2 per bite is outrageous. The value of their drinks might be a little better. I ordered a Cortado and it was delicious. The volume of liquid wasn't too low. $4.25 I would give it 3 stars, but I know not everyone is good with money and many are willing to pay these prices on the east side Providence. The staff was nice, but nothing over the top.

The snow made street parking a bit tricky, but thankfully there are a few parking spaces in the back of the building. Once inside, the bakery was lively and smelled absolutely delicious. There was a great selection of fresh artisan breads to choose from. I ended up with the durum loaf, which was perfect since I planned to make an olive oil dipping sauce. The bread was exactly what I hoped for crusty on the outside, soft on the inside, airy with a mix of large and small holes, and full of flavor. I also couldn't resist picking up two Valentine heart sugar cookies with jam because they were just too cute. The only minor downside was that the employee who helped me wasn't very smiley. Not rude at all, and my order was handled quickly, but it felt a bit different from the warm cafe vibe you might expect. Prices are higher than if you went to a mom and pop bakery but this was expected. Overall, a great stop for quality bread.

I called LaSalle Bakery first to ask if they had blank cakes & the ability to customize them quickly & they said yes. So I headed over to LaSalle on Smith Street. When I arrived (at around 2 PM) it was so busy! The line was long, the tables were full, & it was very noisy. The staff seemed very young to me, but they were working with such professionalism & efficiency, it made them appear older. When I reached the front of the line, the young man talked me through the cake options very kindly & thoroughly, not allowing the potential stress of the long line behind me get to him. The cake options were varied & fun. The difference between a medium cake & a large cake was only a matter of $5 ($45 vs. $50) so I of course opted for the larger cake. It provided more room for the message I wanted to request, also. A different staff member took my cake to the back to customize it. I caught glimpses of her hard at work from where I stood waiting. It took her about 5-8 minutes to customize the cake, & when she returned, I was so impressed with her handiwork. She squeezed a very long message into a relatively small space & the script was still beautiful! I couldn't eat the cake because I'm gluten intolerant, LOL! But it was a great hit at my party & the people that I shouted out in the writing on top were thrilled with the result. I would definitely return for a customized cake again in the future.
