A go to spot for me also. On to the review! I walk in and greeted by a very polite person asking me what I would like and started off with a loaf of Italian bread sliced. They grab the loaf fly to the back and before you know they are right back and asked if I wanted anything else and I asked for some torpedo rolls and while they grabbed that I scooped up some Hermit cookies (my favorite thing here!). We square up at the counter with a fast polite credit card transaction and I'm out the door ( watch the step going in and out). Great little town bakery where most the locals can be seen chit chatting back and forth while ordering stuff. Great friendly vibe. Nice clean place and really awesome Hermit cookies! The prices are cheap, like 3 cookies for $1 cheap. In general, their products have much, much less sugar than American pastries and are a bit more dense. It is a refreshing change from the neighborhood's Italian bakeries. The only downside was the guy behind the counter didn't speak English well enough for me to ask lots of questions. He was nice and tried his best though!

The bakery has a small parking lot with about half a dozen spots. A policeman was on duty today to direct cars to the Walgreen parking lot next door when this lot was full, and to let them in when spots were open. As the line of people waiting outside the door to get in was constant, this was very smart planning and much appreciated. Some folks seemed to know St. Joseph's Day was very busy here and had placed orders in advance. These smart shoppers skipped the line and quickly came back outside with their orders bagged up. The line moved pretty well with four shop assistants helping customers. Only about 10 guests, max, fit inside at a time. Once inside bagged breads like sandwich rolls were on shelves while calzone and other meal pastry were in a case. Then, there were three cases full of zeppola. During our visit they had chocolate, pistachio, ricotta and original available. We got one of each. I cut my first zeppola in half and see the cream filling sits all the way down into the pastry. These are firm enough to hold in your hand and bit into. The pastry is very much like that in an éclair. Firm while being light and airy. The original filling is a lovely custard. The chocolate is a fluffy cream base I believe. Both were very tasty. I have two more to try and am looking forward to them. Between these tasty pastry and other items they had for sale there, we'll be back. You should check them out too.

If you have seen their facebook page, you will understand why, when I got there the next day, they had been cleaned out of around 80% of their inventory. They were completely sold out of their specials. However, what I was able to get was wonderful. I have always avoided almond croissants--not because I'm allergic, but because they are unfamiliar to me--however I did buy their last one and it was the best decision. It was delicious and I would definitely get it again. I was also able to score a pretzel croissant stuffed with cheese and let me tell you, I can't even wrap my head around how they made it taste just like a pretzel and a croissant at the same time. The top was a little salty for my taste, I assume there is salt in the magic wash they put on the outside of the croissant, so I did have to pick off the coarse salt sprinkled on top. My husband's overall favorite was the cinnamon roll. Giant, flaky, sweet, delicious! It's a nice change of pace from the standard doughy, glaze covered cinnamon roll. The strawberry danish for me, was almost too pretty to eat. I got over it though and found it to be both sweet and savory. There were a lot of layers in the pastry and I could definitely taste the butter in them. That combined with the just-right custardy filling with strawberries was quite pleasant. I did share these with my friends and we all had our own favorites. I also got a scone and pistachio macaron. The scone was a really nice size and the macaron, you could tell was made with quality ingredients. The buttercream filling was rich and delicious and thankfully came in a small portion. It is decadent! If you've made it all the way to the bottom of my rambling, I would like to take a moment to talk about how cute and clean the place is and how kind and informative the staff is. At a quick glance, it may seem like parking would be difficult if you can't find street parking. However, I was informed that there is a public parking lot nearby which is extremely convenient. I am so happy that Bloom Patisserie decided to come to the area! Everything was boxed up nicely with the logo stamped on the top and front. My friends saw the box and were instantly curious. I made a side trip there yesterday on my way to work. Got some classic pizza strips, a piece of spinach pesto pizza and an Italian cold cuts calzone. The guy at the counter was super nice and when I told him it was my first time, that I lived nearby, he lit up sharing with me how everything is made in house fresh every day. And I could taste it in every bite. The sauce they make is thick but still maintains some of the bright acidity of the tomato. There's even little bites of tomato bits here and there that made it so good The spinach pesto pizza was a solid option, although I think it would be better warmed a little. Still delicious and decimated by yours truly. Finally the Italian cold cuts calzone was a thing of beauty. The outside was that crispy crunchy exterior but soft interior like good Italian bread. And a good amount of meat, they packed it in this baby! On top of all that, the price is incredible. You can find many places that charge less for such quality items. I immediately had a good feeling about the place. Now I hear tale of past bakeries in this location. The past is past and the new place, Juliana's, is AWESOME! The bread has substance. The calzones are solid. The pastries are insane. Their chocolate chunk and peanut butter chunk cookies are debilitatingly good. I cannot be trusted around them.
