The employees were friendly enough and I loved the large array of options available. My top item was probably the lemon bismark, the donut was super fluffy, the combo of whipped cream, and pastry cream was spot on. I also wanted to give a calzone a try, it was hard to narrow it down! I ended up going with chicken parm since I knew it was my husband's favorite. He loved it! I appreciated that they used large pieces of chicken and the sauce was super flavorful. I originally went in just for one apple square... but if you check out my pictures, you'll see I left with way more than I planned -- and zero regrets! Truly one of the kindest people in business. I had tried to visit twice before -- once they were on vacation, and the other time they were renovating. I've been to this bakery a couple of times now, thanks to my coworker who absolutely loves it and has even ordered my cakes from here. Their chocolate cake is a 10/10 rich, moist, and absolutely delicious. I also tried the mocha cake, but personally didn't taste much mocha flavor. Found this place by just driving by it. Any time I'm in a new state I see a bakery I stop !! We ordered a cookie, pizza slice they call it, and the log. Now wasn't paying attention cause we just said what we wanted or should I say thought what we wanted. The log was huge !!! I thought it was a little thing but after I paid I was like what is this thing !! I guess we wanted the small roll and we got a huge sammich !! Now at first I was like we should say something, but we would have only gotten a credit back and I don't live here , so when we got it back to the hotel we tried it, best mistake we ever made !!! It was an Italian cold cut " log". The taste was excellent, the bread was superb, the ingredients were on point. The slice as they call it had an excellent taste to it . It's like tomato bread but it was great the crust was crisp the flavor was on point, the bread was soft, the sugar cookie w/ the frosting was great as well. Fantastic place to get a custom cake. I have used them several times, most recently for a checkerboard vanilla/chocolate for our Gigi's 90th. She was so delighted and everyone agreed this cake was delicious. Super fresh cake, fluffy frosting and a great design!! For my son's birthday we ordered a Cookie Monster cake and he loved it. We've used Borelli's for our birthday cakes and bread for years, but have been growing more and more disappointed in the quality. This weekend they gave us the wrong cake order. We ordered a yellow cake with strawberry filling and buttercream and absolutely no chocolate. We get there and they have boxed a strawberry shortcake. my husband explained the mistake and they tried blame it on the person who took the order and to replace it with a cake from the case but they only had chocolate cakes or were decorated with chocolate . He expressed the birthday girl cannot have chocolate again and accepted the strawberry shortcake. He got home, we explained things and it was fine until it's time to cut the cake and it's covered in chocolate shavings. There's no way they didn't know that when they handed the box over and were made aware of the allergy a second time even if the person who took the order didn't write it down. my husband was cool calm and collected in the store presenting the information just hoping they would fix the order. They weren't trying to get rid of a Karen, they were just further trying to hide their mistake and wanted him out before he noticed. We called and there's nothing they could do. Their answer was that we got what we paid for. Well, we didn't get what we ORDERED and the person the cake was for, the only person that it mattered what cake we got couldn't eat the cake! We went from the disappointment we'd grown used to, to angry real fast. I understand why that woman got arrested for returning and throwing her cake on the floor recently. I wanted to do the same. Especially after speaking with a manager after waiting two days to speak with one and having to keep calling back just to hear "you got what I paid for." read more

The baked goods from Borrelli's are always, always amazing (in my opinion)... We stop in when in the area - or when we can courageously breach the traffic to get into the parking lot! I have been coming here for years... and upon our pick=up visit on 3/15/2024, I was really taken aback by the negative response of the staff when a customer asked about having another box ... she was then told that she could "buy one", but boxes were allotted by purchase amounts... This woman spent over $75.00 - give her a box...and a smile? Unfortunately, these are the "little" things that cause folks to take their business elsewhere... i hope that does not continue to happen in Borellis'.. this is the third time something rather ridiculous has happened in the time we were in the shop... I am about to change your Monday's like you never thought was possible. Mondays at Borrelli's is Spinach Pie Monday which means Spinach pies are only $1.99 each. We went for a ride and decided to head to Borrelli's for Spinach Pies. When we arrived, there was a short wait outside the door. A few customers were allowed in the bakery at a time, while the rest waited in line out front. One in, one out. Very covid safe. It was spinach pie Monday so we got spinach pies. You can choose between spinach and olive or just spinach. They are perfectly golden, the crust is delicious and the filling is plentiful and tasted very fresh. I may or may not have also purchased a cannoli and man was that good. Oh, and let's not forget the pizza strip for the ride home and the funfetti cake roll slice for afterwards. Honestly, everything we had we really enjoyed and I am excited to go back and try a couple (or a few) of the other things. read more

This is an updated review based on business practices and gross lack of customer service and innovation during covid. I pre-paid and ordered a cake ahead of time on Father's Day. However, despite doing so, Borrelli's makes you wait in the same long line as everyone else looking to spend 20 minutes asking about every pastry and choosing and then paying in the beating hot sun. Shame on Borrelli's for a lack of innovation and thinking outside the box. Many other businesses have prepaid Lines or options for prepaid customer. There is no reason that I should have to stay in line after paying for a $39 cake. Don't offer the option to order and pay ahead. if there's no other convenience. I guess I keep coming here because it's convenient ... or perhaps out of habit ... or perhaps because it's the only game in town (unless you count the bakery department at Stop & Shop). It goes something like this: The wife sends me here; the wallet takes a huge hit; we both end up underwhelmed. Most recently, I went here a couple days before Christmas, hoping to get a tiramisu cake for the Christmas Eve party my wife was hosting. Now, I have to give credit where credit's due: Borrelli's has a tremendous selection of cakes, pies, cookies and other sweets. Also, they have plenty of staff to wait on customers, so even when they're busy, you are in and out pretty quickly. Parking is very limited; the lot is narrow, and close to a crazy-busy section of Tiogue Avenue. I have seen several near-accidents from people trying to park there. At least I have wised up, and now park at Centreville Bank next door. Anyway, I spotted a tiramisu cake in the display case, but it was much bigger than I wanted. The girl waiting on me said they might have a smaller tiramisu cake in the back. After a few minutes, she brought one out and began boxing it. I asked how much it cost and nearly gagged when she told me it was $30! So, I settled for a Boston cream pie (cake) for a slightly more reasonable $18. Wifey couldn't wait until her party to try a piece, but found the frosting to be thick and overly sweet. I didn't have a piece until two days later, and it didn't fare well in the fridge. It basically fell apart and left me, as they say, curiously unsatisfied. So, I think I'm done with Borelli's as far as cakes or pies go, but I will probably make my pilgrimage there once a year for zeppole or cannoli on St. Joseph's Day. And, as happened to me on my last visit, I'll probably jar my spine again leaving the place, because there is no warning (or perhaps not a prominent enough warning) of the sudden drop-off as soon as you step outside. After all, I don't go there often enough to remember this hazard. So yeah, thanks a lot, Borelli's ... you may not be getting as much of my dough from now on, but my chiropractor probably will. read more
