My husband and I were influenced by a few posts we saw mentioning Pastryland's zeppoles- specifically their ricotta cannoli version. We stopped in yesterday (Sunday morning around 10 a.m.). This was our first time inside the bakery, so we were looking through the fridges and front cases. There were only three other customers in line ahead of us. I asked if they had any ricotta zeppoles, and the woman seemed irritated that I asked and shouted, "NO." They didn't mention whether they had run out or if it's a specialty item that they only make until St. Joseph's Day. I also noticed that they don't have prices listed for anything. The total for a regular zeppole and a bag of pizza dough came to about $9. The zeppole was tasteless and soggy. The pizza dough was equally terrible. Will most likely not return. Also note that the parking lot currently has a massive pothole near one of their entrances. read more

Yum yum yummm! This bakery has a big variety of delicious pastries, some of which are unique. I ordered a pumpkin mousse filled doughnut, a pistachio cannoli and a checkerboard cake that my aunt got me for my birthday! That cake is so sweet and I think it's very creative and delicious.. definitely sweet though. Everything looked so so good, I wanted to get the Italian kiss pastry so bad but I will get that next time. They also offer calzones and spinach pies, different handcrafted wines, and stuff for lunch/dinner. They have a little area for indoor dining and a parking lot , the line can get along, but it moves pretty fast. Prices are just OK, I would say $$. This place has gone downhill, I just purchase a bundt cake which was not cheap they put it in a box that does not fit in a bag and tie it with ribbon. You would think you could hold it by the ribbon. I just got out the door and the ribbon came untied and the cake fell. I went back in and ask to replace the cake with the other one they had, they said they were not responsible! Meatball calzone, enough said. A lot of regulars in here of the older crowd when you walk in. A lot of dessert and pizza, calzones to choose from too. A decent sized parking lot. While I have always had pleasant interactions with the staff when in store, I have to share an experience I had awhile back. I ordered a sheet cake for my son's graduation party - simple - just half chocolate, half vanilla. Chocolate was the flavor my son wanted. Graduation day came and we cut into the cake to find... all vanilla. I took several pictures right away as proof and also had the order form which specified half and half. We had no choice but go about our day at that point, but I called the next day. I spoke with the owner who admitted the error and asked how they could make it better. I thought reimbursing half the cost of the cake was fair - I wasn't even asking for the full cake to be comped. He then said no they don't do that, and the only option I had was going in during a very specific window of time (in the morning during the week.. but you know, I work, so that's not ideal) and they would comp me some pastries. I hope the OWNER reads this....I have been coming to this bakery for years, but today will be my last trip PastryLand for a while, went there today at around 12pm and was waited on by the rudest, impatient girl who barely gave me a chance to look at what they had and kept rushing me the whole time, just cause they were busy cause it was Valentines day. I pointed to the cannolis I wanted in the showcase, she didn't even ask me which ones I was talking about, just grabbed 2 because she was in such a rush.....very poor attitude....after that she just kept rushing me....after I got back to my car I checked the box, to see if she gave me what I wanted considering attitude, come to find out she gave me the wrong cannolis, I took them back and told her she did, and she's like "I can't take them back now" even though I didn't touch them, they were the same as they were when she put them in the box, she made no effort at all to make up for the mistake.....just a piss poor attitude, no sorry, nothing! Just truly awful. I have never written a review but this needs to be shared online. I tried to order some nice Italian cookies for my granddaughter's upcoming wedding and instead of offering some options or listening to my request, the woman on the phone began berating me and making me feel like I was wrong to call and ask about their cookies. I ended up going in person to try and talk to someone else but it turns out that same person Maria was there and was just as pleasant as she was over the phone. I will never be back!! read more

Price to value considering Im local and the "egg crisis" is in effect is fair. Needs to more prominently display the 4 % credit card charge because by the time you shop with mostly NO PRICE DISPLAY per item it's a double shock to see a Xerox copy near the register that they charge extra for credit purchases. Also, not everyone knows how to pronounce Zeppolas so dont need to be corrected when I'm paying $23 for five pieces of pastry that aint exactly primo stuff in the city. Goodbye Pastryland!! I ordered 12 trays of wedding cookies for a thank you lunch I was hosting that was important to me. When the cookies were opened, I noticed a rancid odor. They tasted awful and left a bad after taste in your mouth. Also, the cookies at the very bottom were stuck to the tray and disintegrated when you picked them up. I realized quickly, I was sold old frozen cookies at a cost of $400. I was embarrassed and upset at the same time. The next day I called the bakery to let them know. I spoke to a very polite woman named Gina who kindly relayed my message to the owner. Unfortunately, the owner had Gina call me back to tell me he could not give me a refund unless I returned all the trays. I never asked for a refund. A call back from the owner with an apology would have been the appropriate response. Gina did offer to "make it right", but in my case, making fresh cookies the first time was the right thing to do. This is quite the bakery! The name Pastryland is perfect for this bakery! I couldn't believe the amount of pastry, cakes, brownies, cupcakes, cheesecakes, cookies, mousse, bread, long Johns, cannolis, zeppole, eclairs, tarts, chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate rolls, lemon rolls, macaroons, pies, wine, YES I SAID WINE and so much more!!! We chose Baileys Irish Cream Cheesecake, White Chocolate Oreo Cheesecake, Chocolate Zeppole and another type of Zeppole (I cant recall what it was named). Everything was delicious! We were on our way to dinner in Smithfield and decided to find another food destination while we were up this way. Walking into this bakery I was very impressed with the overwhelming selection of goodies, both packaged as well as in their cases. They have a bar set up where you can have a sandwich and a drink. Several barrels of wine tapped and ready to try. They do make their own house wine. As much as I wanted to try it, we will save it for next time. We saw a post earlier for Baileys Irish Cream cheesecake. So we had to give that a try, as well as a few other goodies for the following day. All were very good, a light mousse-like cake rather than a traditional dense cheesecake. This bakery is a very fun place and we will have to return when we are up this way again! read more

Been coming here for years and stopped because of 2 reasons. Food portion cut in half, prices have doubled. Prior to this past Thanksgiving, I would always buy my pies and cakes here because they are fantastic. I ordered (for Christmas) the same strawberry shortcake I have always ordered. The girl took the cake out of the case and I said "that's not mine, it's half the size and will feed maybe 4 people". She said that's what it is and the cost was $38 !!!! Right away, I left and said no way . done here. Today, my wife went in and bought a Strawberry Chocolate Shortcake .... HALF the size of what they used to be and guess what . $44.00 !!!!!! What a Disgrace ... $44. The calzones .. best around ..... now they are half the size and double the price. All set .... will not return as well as a few of my relatives have left, not to return. To the owner, you have been in business for a long time with a historic following ..... I'd go back to making the product you used to, at the size. We purchased some cupcakes this morning, early in the morning, and they were stale. Very stale. The cake part was dry and hard. When this happened about six weeks ago I thought it was a fluke. But this is the second time now and these cupcakes were extremely dry and hard; at least one day old in my opinion. Also, today these cupcakes were much smaller than usual--downsized by approximately 20 percent. So, old pastry (but not labeled as so) and smaller product, yet at the same price. Even if a business is not technically required to post if food is day-old or older (not sure of the rules here), it is the clear unspoken understanding and common knowledge to the consumers that a bakery is selling products that are baked that very same morning unless otherwise noted; a contract of good faith by the business establishment. This bakery used to be great and when their products are fresh they are excellent. This turn of events have been very disappointing. read more

I did a search for bakeries that were close to me that were making zeppole for St. Joseph's Day. This was the only once within a 15 minute drive, so we decided to head over. We bought 4 regular zeppole and one Irish creme flavor. Both were delicious. We also bought two brownies and one piece of carrot cake. I have to say, the carrot cake was amazing. Very moist with lots of pecans and a delicious creamy frosting. I'd go back just for that. The brownies were also very delicious. Gee I hadn't been in this bakery for a long time. I used to live in the area and I forgot just how good they were. I went in with my daughter and grandson and they just had everything you could imagine plus a beautiful coffee bar. I forgot that they had great calzones and pizzas as well as beautiful pastries. Their cakes were absolutely gorgeous and I remember how delicious everything was. I brought home a pastry for my friend and he was thrilled. The cream filling was so light and fresh and tasty that he said it was one of the best he had ever had. The service was very good and I love all of the Italian cookies that they have in bags that you can take home. Ordered pepperoni pizza. This is a bakery pizza needs it's own category for pizza. Any it was delicious. You could taste the sauce and the flavorful cheese and of course the pepperoni. Best bakery in Rhode Island hands down. Besides all the delicious pastries they have the best calzones and pizzas. Fresh dough is available to purchase. A must try is their spinach calzone best I've had. The owner also makes his own wine biscuits (I brought a bag to a 97 year old patient of mine who told me they were the best she's ever had) and he makes his own panettone. Also a great spot to stop in for an ice coffee. Only 2$ and actually tastes good. If it's flavored you can taste it. I'll drink theirs over watered down Dunkin' any day. It's a family run business and the staff are so sweet, it's such a friendly atmosphere. There's also a wine bar, they often run specials for a glass of wine and slice of pizza. Let me begin by saying that I have been a long time customer and fan of this bakery. When I am in the area I make it a point to stop and get my favorite spinach pie and some pastry. I literally have been a customer for over 15 years. Today 3/22/22 I stopped in and got a spinach pie, slice of pizza and some biscuits. I looked at all the delicious pastry but restrained myself. I could have literally bought one of each. I notice they had my favorite Italian pastry...rum Baba. However they were the ones with the Italian cream in the middle. They typically come with cream or plain with just the rum Baba. I prefer without the cream. I asked a very pleasant staff person if I could special order them without the cream. She kindly said let me check. She ask two other staff and one person went into the back to check. She came back and apologized but said that is the only way he sells them. I said bummer and thanked for asking. I was disappointed and thought since I had been such a long time customer I would express my disappointment through a very polite private message through their Facebook page. I wanted to keep it private and explain that I was willing to order and pay a little more. I explained I go to Boston 4 times a year to get them and would prefer to support a local business. Well I quite the response from a person I will assume is the owner. He first thanked me for my business but them proceeded to tell me he has been in business for many years and if he listened to everyone who came in with an idea he would not be in business. I certainly was not giving him any ideas. He knows his business. I was simply requesting a special order. They customize cakes , sell cups of coffee made to order and even sell many varieties of zeppoles to satisfy varying tastes. I was simply asking for no cream. He then proceeds to say "obviously you want to put your own cream in them" NO i made it clear to the staff when I asked and then in my private message I just prefer plain. The kicker comes at the end of his message when he tells me to say Hi to the Bakery in Boston when I go to get them. I find this treatment rude and wholly uncalled for in this situation. I am sure the response will be that my version is not how this played out. If that is what happens I will post the private messages as proof. So if you're looking for Italian bread, this place is good. Do yourself a favor though,if you're looking for anything like cookies (dry with NO taste) or egg biscuits, stay away! Seriously I just took a bite of a cookie and I don't know if I should thank them for saving me the calories or ask for my money back! They really are terrible. The egg biscuits aren't great either. Do yourself a favor go half the price it stop and shop next-door if you're in a pinch to grab some thing. I'd also like to add upon breaking the cookie in half And not seeing evidence of chocolate I broke apart further to discover maybe three small chips in the whole cookie!!! Big fan of this bakery! The bread is great, I usually get the split rolls and they last fairly well without getting stale too quickly which is usually the case. The grinder rolls look good and I plan to try those some day and make my dream sandwich of imported mortadella, provolone, and hot Italian peppers toasted...mmmm Pizza slices are good, they have the party sauce bread ones as well as some fancier ones with cheese and toppings. We picked up a cake for my moms birthday, it was Zuppa Inglese and I have to say it was delicious. It was light and airy and didn't bounce around in the box. The only downside is that they have a $5 minimum to use a card, so be prepared to buy at least that much if you don't have cash. read more

I have been going to Pastryland for many years. LOVE their pastries and yes pizzas. However, today will be my last visit. Many times, I was unhappy with how the staff stuff the pastries in a box that is too small. I noted to the young lady today that she put a chocolate mousse slice of cake on top of other pastries. She responded it will be ok. Well, when I arrived home and opened the box, the top of the cake was half stuck to the box top and the pastries below were smashed. A good piece of cheesecake was ruined with the chocolate mousse cake. Sorry, but this has been an ongoing problem with Pastryland and the staff don't care. read more

Their hard rolls were the best. However, as many other bakeries have done - they must have changed their baking process so their rolls are not the same. The rolls have a hard crust and lighter. They are not authentic Italian rolls. I'm not sure they did this but I will no longer buy their bread. read more
