Had no idea this little gem was about a half mile away from us. My wife identified it as we were craving strudel got their right as they opened and the strudel was fresh out of the oven! Ham and cheese and raspberry were the options today and they were quite flaky, layered and wonderful. I also got a homemade bagel, which was very very good, not a Jewish style like mavens, which is its own delicacy, but very good. Two lovely young ladies advised that everything is made fresh daily, and they put fresh icing on the raspberry strudel while I waited. This is an underrated and quiet little place in an old factory just on the tip of Federal Hill plenty of parking as well. Give this business a try. read more

Whisk Me Away is my favorite bakery in Providence. I'm not really a "sweets" person, but their salted chocolate cookies are honestly the best chocolate cookies I've ever had. They're soft, rich, and the salt brings out the flavor in the best way. My partner, who does love sweets, inhales their creative donuts (like birthday cake) and other cookie varieties (like s'mores). They also make amazing savory items. I love their toaster strudels filled with bacon and cheese, and their savory rolls are like cinnamon rolls but with chive cream cheese or pizza-style fillings. Their maple bacon breakfast sandwiches are also fantastic. Just a heads-up that breakfast sandwiches are only available in the morning. They made my birthday cake this year and it was perfect. Moist, buttery, not too sweet. They also offer vegan options, which is great. The staff is always so kind when I stop in. My family has ordered from them in bulk for parties too. I bought the yellow cake with chocolate frosting from Whisk Me Away--the one that supposedly gets all these glowing reviews, the "fan favorite," the "beloved classic." Well, let me tell you: if that cake is what this bakery considers its best, I cannot imagine how bad the rest of their menu is. This wasn't just bad--it was insulting. The cake was so dry I genuinely thought something had gone wrong. Like, did I get a week-old display cake by accident? Was this some cruel prank? It was dense, crumbly, and flavorless--as if it had been baked in a rush, left on the counter, and forgotten for days. You'd get more moisture from a stale granola bar. I was honestly embarrassed serving it to guests. You know it's bad when people start quietly pushing the cake around their plates and making excuses to leave early. And the frosting? Overly sweet, gritty, and completely out of balance. It tasted like someone tried to cover up how bad the cake was with a pound of cheap sugar. Spoiler: it didn't work. The whole thing was a total sugar bomb with zero nuance, zero richness, and ZERO actual flavor. I called to let them know and got the most dismissive, patronizing response imaginable. No ownership, no apology, just a "Well, that's surprising, most people love it." Cool. Guess I was the lucky one who got the discount disaster version? I didn't just waste money--I wasted a piece of my birthday on this sorry excuse for dessert. I've had gas station muffins that were more satisfying than this overhyped garbage. Whisk Me Away? They should rename themselves Whisk Me Straight Into the Trash, because that's exactly where their cake ended up. Morgan made our wedding cake last month and it was amazing! We never met her in person but she was extremely nice and helpful in deciding exactly what cake we wanted. We chose to pay for some sample cupcakes before we chose our final combination. We went with a vanilla cake with a seedless raspberry jam and champagne buttercream. I didn't go with donuts in mind, but one called to me, and it absolutely blew my mind. It looked incredible, but tasted even better. Each element was done perfectly: even the yeast donut that made up its base was the best it could be. No, I can't say enough about it. It was huge, and I devoured it. People were behind me, so I didn't get to look at the refrigerator case very well. There might have been more I wanted. My only encouragement would be to label items in the case more descriptively - especially to say if they contain meat. The biscuits looked super, but I'm glad I asked - they were just labeled "biscuits" and there was indeed meat in them. I'd rather not have to ask about everything I might want to grab, and maybe I would have gotten something else if I knew something I loved was in it. I also got a couple of great-looking bagels and English muffins. Service was very warm and cheery - I cannot wait to return! Then she showed IT to me...lol...the biggest, puffiest, arguably prettiest donut I'd ever seen. I immediately popped over and was greeted by a warm welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. INCREDIBLE would be an understatement! We hosted our daughter's baby shower this weekend and Morgan & her team made the cake topper, cupcakes and cake pops. We had a variety of cupcake flavors: Strawberry cake w/strawberry vanilla bean swirl, Banana cake w/chocolate, Chocolate w/chocolate peanut butter, Red Velvet w/raspberry, Vanilla & caramel and Carrot cake & cream cheese. I've been enjoying their sweets for three years now! The first sweet I ever tried was the blondie. It has its own cult following, it's so good! Great flavor of brown sugar with a nice texture. It's their staple product. Soon after, I tried the donuts. These are top notch quality! I often get the coffee glaze, used with Borealis coffee. Seriously, can't beat that coffee glaze. These donuts are super fluffy. I even asked for a special order of a donut cake for my birthday! Ate it all myself haha. They offer mostly sweet, but they do have a savory bun and biscuit that change weekly. I love them both, definitely the biscuit. It's great alone or as a sandwich. The ham and cheese might be my favorite. The saltyness of the ham is great with the biscuit. The cheesecake is thick! I really like it slightly chilled or out of the freezer! You can't go wrong with this one. It's not too dense and the flavors change often! Whisk Me Away has done a few collaborations with other businesses. With Ming's, they did a donut chicken sandwich and biscuit chicken sandwich. With Kow Kow, they added their funfetti cake crumbs to a bubble waffle. Seriously you must visit this bakery. Where to start? We first met Morgan and Whisk Me Away over 2 years ago when she did one of (if not her first pop-up) at The Winter Providence Flea at Hope HS. We were hooked then! In the 2 years since, I have been on a consistent hunt for the Blondie. I feel like where ever she goes I need to find her to get one of these glorious treats. Unfortunately, (or fortunately) I can't stop at the Blondie. Now that she has her new space (it is awesome) my visits have become a regular thing. Everything she makes is great! We finally decided to wander in not long ago before heading into the market, and were glad we did. Really delicious baked goods, tasty coffee, very friendly people behind the counter. It's tiny, so space is limited--but there was room even on a weekend day with the market happening. (Fun fact: I had a better biscuit here *by a mile* than I did at Irregardless, which sells itself as biscuit-focused.) Highly recommended. read more

I have to say I am obsessed with donuts and have to say the donut the week I went has to be my all time favorite donut ever. Cinnamon bun donut... I'm still dreaming about that frosting!!! I've tried so many of Morgan's desserts including brownies, beer bread, toaster strudel, blondies, funfetti cheesecake, mini pies, and coffee glazed donuts (YUM!). Everything is always amazing, but my favorite are definitely her donuts! She changes her menu up every week so there are usually a variety of desserts available when she opens on Saturday. I've also ordered a few birthday cakes from her and she's able to customize them to your liking. I think she made chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream, and a chocolate coffee cake with coffee buttercream. My mother ordered a cake for her birthday and asked if I could pick it up, since it was on my way. Honestly, I'd make the drive from Boston any day. The cake was absolutely incredible. Moist, flavorful -- we had the vanilla raspberry coconut cake with swiss meringue buttercream. I'm normally not a coconut fan, but was absolutely blown away. The flavors were so balanced! The team that works here is also wonderful. Ordering was a breeze, they then sent clear pick-up instructions via e-mail, and when I collected the cake, they told me how to keep it safe in the car (on the floor, not in a seat) and how to serve it.
