    These pastries are HUGE!
    Jen W.

In the process of eating their croissant and all I can say is you have got to try this! Every bite is a buttery, light, flakey delight. Absolutely not a diet breakfast or snack. For me, totally worth the extra work-out time I will need to compensate. We have out of town guests arriving in a couple of week and I am hoping there is a bake during their stay. Everyone needs to try one of these. Especially if you have been to France and had a croissant. The business is located in a Pawtucket neighborhood (at the time of this review) and includes three reserved '5 minute' parking spots right in front of the building. I showed up early for my pick-up and the lot was empty, so I came at a good time to slide in. Before I left another group was there for their pick-up. The outside and inside are very charming. The interior is super clean and it smells soooo gooood. They did a great job with the store front and you can see into the prep area. Baked goods are on tray racks behind the counter and a sign let guests know they are 'sold out today'. The car smelled so good on the way home I was ready to eat as soon as we pulled in the driveway. I brought my own plastic container thinking it would be big enough for my order plus some extra space besides. Boy was I WRONG! Two fit in there. TWO. These are clearly large enough to share. I felt terrible not bringing enough bags for my order. Don't be like me. Bring a big paper bag or plastic bin. He also provides them so no worries if you don't have such a thing. I follow this business on Instagram and this entrepreneur has come a long way over the years. From a bike cart to a website and store front and the struggle has been real getting all the ducks in a row and working. I absolutely appreciate all that has been done to allow us to savor the delights of one persons passion to find the perfect croissant. I have signed up for email notifications sent out the day before a bake to place orders. Several items were sold out by the time I got in there to place my order. I received an email the morning of pick-up, but I'm not great with checking email, so I set a calendar alarm to remind me to go pick up my treats. Life gets busy, things slip your mind. These you do not want to miss out on.

Butterbang croissants are flaky, buttery, and delicious! The dainty pig and choco ones are my favorite. I also like the feeling of being in a private club when receiving the Saturday/Sunday bake email. The ordering and pickup process is also very smooth. I wish they had a more permanent store front and had business hours to be able to pick them up with a more flexible schedule!

Croissants worth joining a mailing list for! The best croissants I've ever eaten- plain, chocolate and the bang bar. The bang bar was out of this world delicious.

Butterbang has moved to its new location in Pawtucket and I've been meaning to visit. Every time I see the emails, my mouth waters thinking about the croissants. Finally on Saturday, January 6, 2024, I had the opportunity to visit the new location and I love everything about it. It is now located in a cutely decorated house. There is street parking available and 3 spots right in front. Once you walk in, you can smell the croissants and it is magnificent. I ordered the Classic, Honey Pistachio, Cardamom Heart, and of course Dainty Pig on the website right after I received the email. The Honey Pistachio and Cardamom Heart are new items that I have not tried before. It is cool that there are different items to try. The Honey Pistachio was really good and if you like pistachio, this is the one for you. When you arrive, you give Brian your name and he'll pack the order. I had purchased the plastic container a while back from Butterbang so I brought it back and he put my order in the container. There were some extra items that you could order on the spot as well. Everything is always so fresh and enjoyable. I can't wait for next time. Online ordering is always easy.

Best croissants ever. This is a cool croissant "speakeasy" where you sign up for the mailing list, and get alerts about the next sale. The new location feels like it's right out Paris right down to the adorable "Boulevard de Buerre" sign. The croissants are absolutely delicious. We tried: - the Classic - the Dainty Pig (Proscuitto & Gouda) - Choco - Almond Filled All of them were a beautiful combo of flaky, buttery light and airy perfection. You can really tell the care and love that has gone into baking each one of these croissants. I would highly recommend jumping on that mailing or wait list asap! Pro Tip- if the list is closed, follow @butterbangcroissants until a spot opens up. If any of these steps seem overkill, Butterbang is the best example of quality over quantity. It is totally worth waiting!

This is absolutely how all food should be made. The amount of care taken in preparation so that there is consistency in what you order and receive. You can tell there is pride and accountability in Brian's work. Pretty sure all the 5* reviews speak for itself. Butterbang is definitely a splurge for me. It's in an area I don't typically visit and am not familiar with. It wasn't too hard to find though. People are typically in and out so finding parking isn't too difficult if you're patient. The setup inside is quite simple and efficient. The racks of croissants are behind the counter and your order gets packed when you arrive.

Bonjour, I think Paris has met Pawtucket! When you pull up, you have arrived to at the French Chateau inspired facade! The ambiance, the service, and the atmosphere has transported you straight to a French bakery! This is the list that you want to be on! It's like an elite secret society! I can assure you, you have not had a croissant like this until you have tried Brian's masterpiece(s)! When you try one kind and think it's your favorite?-Wait until you try the next option! From plain, to chocolate, coffee glazed, almond! One will be salivating like Pavlov's dog! My personal favorites are the plain croissant pleasantly filled with cream cheese and everything but the bagel seasoning, and oh one cannot forget the Dainty Pig! If one is lucky enough to be invited to order, the bonus is the croissant loaf if still available and not sold. How does one receive such an invitation? Visit the website and make sure you get on the waiting list! Can't wait until the next event to see what new surprises or new flavored croissants my palate will be introduced to next! A Bientot!

Enticed by the rave reviews, I knew I had to try Butterbang. I got the chocolate almond croissant and chocolate croissant -- they were both very flaky and had a satisfying crunch, but I wish the almond one had a stronger almond profile. Butterbang has a great variety of flavors, but they sell out very quickly once orders go live. Signing up for their listserv is definitely needed so you can grab the flavors you want. Since it's a bit inconvenient to have to plan ahead for their treats and pick-ups are generally only in the morning, I will probably not be back, unless a special flavor catches my eye.

People need to know about Brian and his Butterbang! What a nice story... a guy who fell in love with croissants in France. He then teaches himself how to make an awesome croissant. Opens a pop up bakery right in little Rhody to share his product. I am invested in his story and want to be invested in his croissant! I heard about Butterbang through an online article highlighting the pop up shop. After I saw a few photos and read a few raving reviews-for the next few days all I thought about were croissants (I went to Paris last year and hit a few patisseries. I know Paris croissants.) I signed up on Brian's Butterbang website to learn about when orders are available. I checked my email before I went to bed on Thursday night, nothing yet. Very excited when I checked my email Friday morning and orders for Saturday were open! I quickly got on and placed my order. One yum roll for my 9 year old, one regular croissant because why not? and two gouda's because my husband and I are cheese folk. A few items were already sold out. I woke up and set out to get my croissants. Very easy to find. I saw a few people in line so easy to identify. I put on my mask and stood on the 'x's' on the ground for social distancing. I got to the window and simply gave my last name. Brian does not pre package but reviews your order and grabs the fresh croissants, then packs your box. He is a one man show. Does it all. Quite amazing for a shop that sells out and is crushing reviews. I heated my gouda for a few seconds and lavished in tasting my croissant. Flaky, tasty, fresh and buttery. The gouda was a little oily but overall a really good croissant. I tasted my daughters yum roll- a little too cinammonny for me but it was delicious. The next morning I had the regular croissant with my morning tea. It was a great combo plus still tasted fresh! Not going to lie- I am intrigued by the other flavors not offered on the day I ordered or the ones that were sold out. I will be butterbanging again soon!

    Beautiful box of croissants.

This nice pop up store makes nice croissants. Flaky, buttery and good size. I got several types and i Loved the Almond Croissant. It was really good. For Rhode Island, it is a very good quality croissant. I still get my fix when I go to Montreal or France, but for a patisserie fix close to home, Butterbang does the job. Now during the Pandemic, it's pick up window only. They change their disposable plastic gloves with every customer, so after your order is packed and your credit card is swiped... Those gloves go to the trash. Very good ! Follow them on Instagram or Facebook for open times.

I found the shop tucked away in my old stomping grounds, and when my GPS announced I had arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to see it now occupies what used to be a beloved old Italian bakery. There's a small parking lot right next to the well-marked entrance, and their adorable bespectacled cupcake logo makes for a charming first impression. Inside, the space is a nostalgic dream for fans of all things pop culture. The décor spans across countless beloved universes--Marvel, Star Wars, Disney, Harry Potter, Pokémon, Mario, and more. Familiar faces like Batman, Spiderman, Thor, and the Hulk line the walls and shelves, giving the whole place a fun and immersive vibe. But let's talk about the real stars: the baked goods. The display at the entrance is packed with eye-catching treats--cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and beyond. Everything looked just as mouthwatering in person as it did in the photos that initially drew me in. In addition to desserts, they also offer cannoli, cinnamon rolls, brownies, breakfast wraps, sandwiches, bagels, toasts, bowls, and a variety of drinks including coffee, smoothies, and iced options. Since I was there for cupcakes, I picked out three flavors: Mocha Cappuccino, Banana Pudding, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana. I only got to try the two banana ones, but both were delicious. The Mocha one smelled heavenly though! A surprise bonus--the cupcakes had fillings, which I wasn't expecting. The frosting-to-cake ratio was perfect, and the cake itself was light and fluffy, yet sturdy enough to hold up the frosting. The owner was super helpful in guiding my selections and genuinely lit up when I asked about the bakery's background and theme. They host themed events too--like an upcoming Star Wars Day breakfast with a buffet, character meet-and-greets, goodie bags, and more. I don't live in the area anymore, so coming back would be a special treat--but I definitely plan to. Getting out of the parking lot was a bit tricky due to the busy nearby intersection, but it wasn't too hard to navigate. A small inconvenience considering everything this place has to offer. Bottom line: this bakery is a delightful, nerdy, sugar-filled gem. A perfect place to treat yourself!

The first time I came, it was a rainy weekday and this time it was a sunny weekend, so I was expecting an even larger crowd; and my prediction was correct. The line was just out the door but because of their awesome staff, the line was moving very quickly. While we waited in line, we could watch them making pastries through the glass, a couple feet in front of us. I admired that level of transparency. When we were third in line, the kindest lady asked us whether we'd be eating in or taking out and she took down our name to help us find a table when it came time. She did the same for the rest of the people in line. She also gave us some recommendations, including the cinnamon bun - apparently they're so good kids cry when they sell out. I didn't intend to order anything with my drink, but I couldn't get the cinnamon bun out of my head so I ordered it along with my iced spiced chai latte. The hen (I think it's their logo) on the aprons of the employees are super cute. We did secure a table. The tables are close together to maximize the number of people who can sit down but I didn't mind. I love their art all around, mostly of birds which I am obsessed with. I love that they have a lot of natural lighting coming through their tall windows. I also like the navy blue and white theme they have going on. The chai latte was perfect. It was the right color (a dark tan), meaning the ratio of tea and milk was good and I could taste a lot of the spices. The cinnamon bun blew my expectations away. The second my teeth made. contact with the icing, it was a magical feeling. I couldn't quite put my finger on what it tasted like, but the closest I got was dulce de leche. It is truly unlike any other cinnamon bun I have ever had. The dough is soft and there is a good amount of cinnamon. It's also $4 which is not bad. I had a bite of their canelé, which apparently requires a lot of work to make. It was very moist, with a great caramelized finish. I am super excited to try their new weekend dinner menu, but also more of their all day menu items.

Ellie's is dangerous. I walked in thinking coffee and one pastry. That lasted about 30 seconds…read more The owner (adorable, by the way) was walking around checking on tables and making sure everyone was happy. It feels like her place in the best way -- warm, proud, hands-on. Pastries are legit. Super buttery, flaky enough to make a mess, clearly baked that morning. No sad, sitting-around-all-day vibes. Ordered the breakfast sandwich and that tomato jam needs to be illegal. Sweet, savory, slightly tangy -- it completely makes the sandwich. I kept trying to figure out how to recreate it at home. Not happening. Crispy chicken sandwich was properly seasoned and not dried out (why is that so hard for some places?). Fries were solid too -- crispy, not limp. And the kale salad with roasted chickpeas and chicken made me feel like I had my life together. Fresh, simple, and actually satisfying. It's one of those places you stumble into while traveling and then immediately start googling whether you can justify going back the next day.
