This coffee shop is located inside Still on Main, which appears to be one big two story building with multiple businesses inside. Conveniently, there is a 2 hour free parking garage to the right of the building which is where we parked, but there is also street parking. Downtown Pawtucket is sadly almost abandoned, but businesses like these give me hope that it can make a comeback. When we walked in, we saw signs pointing downstairs for Dissent, which helped us a lot to locate it. The actual store is small, with only 1-2 chairs in the corner and some high chairs along the counter, but there are also about 4-5 tables and chairs in the common area. The menu is perfect not too long, but lots of appealing and unique options with cool names. I ordered the pistachio 2.0 latte which has espresso, peruvian cacao + maple syrup, and pistachio milk. My mom ordered the masala chai. Both were ready in about 10 minutes. Like most coffee shops, they make the coffee right in front of you, which instills a lot of confidence. The pistachio latte had a very nice color and was very rich, creamy, slightly nutty, with a hint of mocha flavor which might've been the coffee. It reminded me of a liquid form of dubai chocolate but not nearly as sweet. The masal chai was also creamy and you could taste the spices. It's a very nice place to study, read, or hang out with friends. read more

I'm so happy to have a spot like Dissent in this part of downtown Pawtucket, we've badly been needing an option like this! I walked over for the first time - this coffee shop is on the lower floor of the Still on Main mall-like building, and you have to go down a flight of stairs to access it. I'm not sure if there is an easier, more handicap accessible way to get there. The Still on Main building seems partially under construction and has a musty smell to it - if you're a big antiquer, it might feel homey, but is a little offputting. Anyways, onto the actual Dissent review! I was delighted by the long list of caffeinated drink options as well as specials on the bar. I ordered the honey lavender latte drink - the name escapes me and I lost the menu photo, but I know it was very cute - which could be ordered either as a matcha latte or espresso latte. My co-worker got the matcha version and was absolutely in love with it! I ordered it as an espresso latte, and it came with bright blue foam on top. This didn't seem to match any of the ingredients on the menu, so I was a bit thrown off, even though it was fun (and changed the color of my tongue a la middle school fruit snacks, lol). I'm usually a big lavender flavor fan, but something about this leaned a little....soapy? to me? The recipes and barista seemed very authentic and educated in all things coffee, so I'll definitely be back, but was just a bit bummed that my first drink here wasn't my favorite thing ever. I'm not sure what it was, but the flavor was just a bit too 'cleaning supplies' esque for me. There are tables in the hallway to chill at if you need a nice spot nearby to hang out and sip on your beverage, or there are some chairs in the corner of the coffee shop and a couple bar stools. It's a small shop but seems to have some solid regulars and a dedicated barista. They have lots of milk alternative options, which is appreciated, and when I went in a group of 3, our drinks were made one by one with care, so allow some extra time to soak in the vibes if you go at a busy time or in a group. I'm really happy to have this option nearby and can't wait to try their summer specials (the strawberry drink comes to mind, although on the day I visited they were offering a watermelon one instead!) read more

This place is super cute. It's a little cafe downstairs at still on main. There's a couple seats at the bar and in the small space. There's a large drink selection. The barista was fantastic. They've got all the basics plus great speciality drinks. My maple salted drink (I think the name was salty sap) was SO good. I will absolutely be coming back and it's a 10/10 recommend for me. read more

Neat place!! A bit tricky to find, but just look for their sandwich board sign on the sidewalk. The interior was lovely and you can tell it was thoughtfully curated. I tried one of their new pumpkin lattes and it was quite tasty. For food they only have bagels and a few protein bars, so definitely more about the coffee. Look forward to heading in again! read more

Dissent - Pea blossom iced tea - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Pawtucket, Rhode Island

This place is amazing. Really amazing coffee. No pre-made coffee in a flask; they brew a fresh cup of your choice from a large collection of single-origin beans. I usually get an espresso, but decided to get a brew this time and the coffee was so smooth and flavorful. Makes you wonder why all the other coffee shops let you have unfresh coffee. (I let my wife have a taste, she said it felt more like a light chocolate than coffee) read more

I absolutely love love love this spot. It's a super nerdy niche coffee wonderland. If you want to try the best matcha latte of your life, come here. I've never had a better one. The location is in the old seed cafe, so it's gorgeous and cozy. The little bar lends to conversation with the barista about all things coffee. Love it. Can't wait to go back. read more

This was my first time visiting Dissent! I found out about this cafe through Coffee Crawls and I am so happy that I did! It is located on the ground level of Still on Main. There is a free parking garage next door too! The cafe is small and they have a bunch of tables outside the main cafe area to sit. The cafe is super cute and the owner was working when I went. He was really great and chatted with me for a bit. I got a really tasty drink with pistachio milk! I'll definitely be back! read more

Friend introduced me to this coffee place today. I got the f**k Ice hot coffee, she got a hot coffee with pistachio. They were both delicious. They have some cute pictures books. The service was great. The coffee making was like watching very delicate science experiment. Next time I will bring a book and stay a while. It's in a very cool building that has great old architecture. read more

The best pour over in the area, and an incredible selection of beans from local favorites and standout roasters elsewhere. It's amazing that they have 15-20+ single origin selections available at any given time for a cup. I'm also a fan of the espresso tonic, and they've got a full selection of espresso-based drinks to boot. Support Pawtucket coffee excellence! Also, if you're confused about where it is, Dissent is located in the old Seed Cafe spot at Still on Main. Use the parking structure right next door--it's free! read more

Dissent - Espresso tonic to go - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Pawtucket, Rhode Island

Dissent is the spot to go for your coffee or tea needs. Micheal the owner gladly walks you through the menu giving you meaningful service. I got the Hojicha Tea per Margo's recommendation and it was AMAZING! She made a beautiful drink and even offered to put a syrup in after I tried it so I could taste the difference. The vibe, the drink and the people make Dissent a five star experience! read more

It's not The Seed anymore, it's Dissent~ apparently it closed down and its replacement is dissent~ they serve mostly coffee, with a general menu with seasonal options, non-coffee menu of teas, and a black coffee speciality with coffees curated from different countries! I ordered a season gourd pumpkin ice latte with oat milk, and it was delicious! Not too sweet, and I enjoyed the whip cream and cinnamon top. They only have one size. They are 5 weeks new with an official cafe spot. Met the owner, and he mentioned they've done pop ups before, so some may already be familiar. There was another staff who appeared new. I saw how the owner was still teaching his new employees prepare coffee and prep the machines. The shop is very cute and found downstairs! Very quiet and small. Didn't notice if they had wifi or not, but I will ask next time because I want to definitely do work here and enjoy more coffee. There only food items were on the counter, which were pastries and cookies from other venders. Wish they had more options! read more

Really kind staff! Margot made my cherry vanilla latte and it was so yummy. The new york jazz performers mural on the outside is also a true piece of art. one star taken off for the price point read more

Dissent is such a gem of a coffee spot for people who really love and understand coffee. (Coffee nerd alert!) I wish my husband had been able to experience this place. (He's Australian, and they're notoriously picky about their coffee--we live in Brooklyn and he complains about subpar coffee all the time). I did bring back some beans for him from Dissent, and he loves these beans so much we will likely try to order more at some point if possible. I talked to Michael, the owner of Dissent for a while, and to explain away some confusion, the place has undergone a significant transition in the past couple of months. It is not doing sandwiches atm, (though may bring in pastries down the road). I'm more a tea person, and to my delight, found that Dissent also offered various specialty teas on their menu. I tried the Dragonwell, London Smog, as well as their matcha latte on different days, and they were all excellent. I hope this place sticks around! It is hard to find coffee spots like this in the U.S. This cafe is spacious and there's plenty of seating, would see folks around on weekends with their laptops, hanging with friends, and a couple dogs. Update: they're now also doing coffee flights! read more

Dissent - Black Sesame Warmer (Smoky Maple, Brown Sugar, Sesame Seed Latte) - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Pawtucket, Rhode Island

Excellent coffee done right, Dissent is more of a coffee craft than a simple shop. As someone who has done a good amount of travel always seeking out great coffee in popular areas from Vancouver to Oslo to San Diego, Dissents pourover menu rivals some of the best I've seen in both quality and variabiity. I would argue it would be impossible to not find a coffee on the list that suits your taste. Alongside the stellar pourover menu is an equally impressive catalog of espresso drinks. The 'Cherry Dream On' is an elevated espresso tonic bringing together refreshingly complimentary flavors into a delicious cocktail of a coffee beverage. The 'room without a view', made with nitrified coconut milk, is a treat of a drink as well. You can see the attention to detail not only in the cup, but in the quality of materials, time/effort spent, and knowledge from Michael the owner/barista. Whether you're looking for a simple classic cup of coffee or an elevated coffee experience, Dissent brings something to the Providence area that it has been missing out on. read more
