The worst packers ever. I'be moved several times with movers but none have been as unprofessional as this company. I had to pay extra for a 'professional packer' to pack and move my piano. it was the worst packed of everything that was moved. The boxes they moved were dented. Additionally one of the packers pissed all over my toilet and the floor around it. One other thing, keep in mind that the really low price quoted by the sales agent will change - their own foreman apparently tells everyone the amount will increase by 25% which cancels out that discount to got from the 'really nice sales person' Use this company with caution!!! read more

WORST MOVING COMPANY EVER. I've used a lot and this by far takes the cake. They lost my 70" Sony TV and my brand new coffee table. They keep telling me they're looking for it. This doesn't included all the stuff they damaged which I won't write about cause I don't care compared to the missing TV. To top this all off, they tell you insurance is included but don't explain what that means before you sign. The insurance covers 60 cents per pound of the item. So if my TV weighs 100lbs (which it doesn't) they will only give me $60. This is not acceptable. I paid over $1200 for something that you have misplaced, I should be compensated for actual cash value. Do not ever use this company. read more

We moved recently from Wheaton to Winfield. Century Moving had the most reasonable of the prices. A representative came to our home and walked through our house to find out every service they provided. They gave us all the boxes we needed and just ask us to return and recycle them when they were empty. Janis (sp?) answered every question on the phone and contacted me about all details. They are located in Lombard and its a family-run company and so there is a lot of warmth when you speak to someone on the phone. When the movers showed up to pack and move us, they were polite, fast, very careful with our possessions. We had to wait two weeks so they stored all of our belongings for a very reasonable rate and showed up early the day to move us into new home. They placed all of our boxes in the correct rooms, set up beds, tables, chairs and helped us rearrange our furniture. While I unpacked I noticed that absolutely nothing was damaged or broken! The moving of all your "stuff" after thirty years in one house is never easy or fun but Century made it as easy as possible. From start to finish, I was very pleased with the service from Alex, Ronnie, and the entire team. They were kind, professional, respectful, and worked well together. I felt like a group of friends came to help us move not perfect strangers! Moving can be so stressful, but the guys made it fun. I gave Century Moving, Inc 1 star because of their terrible service, and more importantly, because of their response to their service. I am writing this review about the experience my wife and I had with Century Moving, Inc, an interstate agent for Bekins Van Lineslocated at 951 N. Main Street, Lombard, IL 60148. Century Moving, Inc was referred to us by our Real Estate agent for our move from Naperville, IL to Bluffton, SC. My wife reached out to Century Moving and scheduled a walkthrough and we were given an estimate for the forthcoming move. The estimate included a stop at a storage facility in Bluffton SC and then to our apartment in Bluffton, SC. The estimate was $8,041.66. We opted to select the Full Protection Value Protection (FRVP) with a $500 deductible, so the total estimate increased to $8,371.66. Our move was scheduled for June 7, 2021. The plan was for the movers to arrive at 9:00 a.m. and to be done around 2:00 -300 p.m. The driver (Marvin) did come at 9:00 a.m. However, none of the movers showed up. The driver feverishly made phone calls but to no avail. My wife called the Century Moving Inc's office at 4:00 p.m. and the manager said they were aware of the issue and were working on the issue. Finally, around 6:00 p.m. three men showed up. At 12:00 midnight, the three men just left, even though there were still things left to be moved. Apparently, they had another job the next day and had to get home to sleep. The driver was left high and dry and had to load the remaining items. The driver finally left around 1:00 a.m. We were assured by Century Moving Inc that the "office would stay on top of our move so that the delivery goes much smoother" That did not happen! The contract stated that the delivery date would fall anywhere between June 11th to June 18th. Of course, the delivery came on Friday, June 18h, the very last day. In order to save costs, my wife and I packed most of our stuff and clearly labeled what boxes were to go to storage and which boxes were to go to the apartment. The driver arrived at the storage facility around 8:30 a.m., but there was no crew. He made a phone call and his crew arrived about an hour later. The driver had to get a smaller truck because his 18-wheeler would not fit in the apartment complex. The crew loaded boxes into the storage unit, as well as loading the small truck. The crew unloaded the small truck, while Marvin set up the bed. The king size bed was missing the 8 legs to support the two planks and some screws. Without the legs, the two planks would not support the mattress, thereby, making the bed unable to be slept in. Evening came and there was nothing Marvin could do so he left. We contacted our Real Estate Agent and informed her that we were missing the legs. She contacted the owner, Bob Fleming. My wife then spoke with Mr. Fleming and he said he would try to get someone to fix the issue. But it was the weekend so nothing would get done until Monday, at earliest. Not knowing when the bed would get fixed, we bought some legs at Home Depot, but they did not fit. We tried to find the replacement legs from the manufacturer of the bed but they were closed on the weekend. Finally, on Monday, June 21st, my wife bought 2X2 blocks of wood and we had the pieces cut to 10 inches. I was able to screw the legs to the planks. It was a temporary fix, but it worked. At last, the bed could be slept in. Ironically, several hours later, my wife received a call from a handyman to repair the bed. We informed the person that the bed was repaired. Over the next several days, as we unpacked the boxes, there were numerous boxes which were clearly marked storage. So, we had to take those boxes to the storage unit. Additionally, the two floor lamps that were packed by the movers were broken and had to be thrown out. As bad as this move was from start to finish, it was finally compounded by the lack of follow through by the owner, Mr. Bob Fleming. Our Real Estate agent spoke with Bob and informed us that we would be taken care of with a reduction on the price of the move. My credit card was charged $9.277.62. I immediately disputed the charge with my credit card company. In a subsequent conversation with my wife, Mr. Fleming stated that were over charged and a credit would be processed. A credit of $1,292.12 was processed to my credit card. So, the total charge for the move was $7,985.50. That was a discount of $386.16. Additionally, Century Moving Inc sent a lovey bouquet of flowers with a card expressing their sincere apology. After all that we went through with this move, we expected MUCH MORE than a $386.16 reduction in price and a bouquet of flowers. As bad as this nightmare of a move was, the owner's lack of proper restitution is simply unacceptable. Clearly, the owner, Mr. Bob Fleming, only cares about his profit. Damn the customer! I would strongly recommend that anyone who is moving interstate NOT USE Century Moving Inc! read more

The guys were quick and efficient but I wouldn't get them for packing unless you are doing the full move with them. They didn't care about my stuff since it wasn't going on their trailer. Didn't wrap many items they should have, crammed stuff in without wrapping properly. Lots of my furniture had scratches/scrapes in it and a few broken things. The other guys unloading the truck at my new place kept calling me to show me items before they touched them that were broken or scratched up. Or just to show me how it was packed so I could see how the damage was done to it. Overall bad. read more

Thank you Ronnie and the entire crew who moved us out of our old home and into our new Schaumburg home. We were lucky and got the same crew on both moves. We packed up our things the day before our home was sold and the company held the truck overnight and moved us in the following day. From the initial estimate process to the end, everyone in this company is professional, understanding, and on time. We went from a 5,000 sqft home and into a 3000 sqft home so you can imagine we had alot of boxes and random items. First day took 8 hours to move out and the Second day took 5 hours to move in. Century Moving is getting my highest recommendation and you should not call another company. read more

I am updating my previous 1-star review to reflect a partial refund the owner gave me after my complaints. I appreciate the concern they had with my experience and efforts they made to make things better. I still stand by my prior review - With my main issue being the exceptionally slow pace at which they worked. It took over 5 hours for 3 movers to move a 2 bedroom with 2 couches, 2 small tables and no boxes 1.5 miles away (my wife and I had previously moved all clothes / dishes / electronics / art etc). I paid less with 2 men and a truck a year ago and that was a move that was 35 miles with a second stop and all of the boxes with only 2 men and not 3. A large reason for the delay was frequent smoke breaks after lifting anything - I would often not see anyone in the house for a good 5 minutes after taking a single item out of the house and into the truck. This was not just with particulary heavy items, I'm talking about moving a dining room chair and then disappearing. I confronted the one I saw the least about this he indicated his job was to stay in the truck to make sure that things didn't fall over. I think that is a poor excuse and it obviously doesn't explain what the other 2 were doing during this time. Century tracked dirt into several areas despite repeatedly asking them to remove shoes. There are small knicks on several pieces of the heavier furniture which understandably happens. read more

I had scheduled an estimate a few weeks ago. A few hours before the estimate, I receive a phone call telling me they had to cancel and wouldn't be showing up. This was an issue because I had taken a day off to get the estimate. They weren't sympathetic and just said they would call back the next day to re-schedule. 2 weeks later, I have not heard from them again. read more

We had some very heavy items and antiques that they took great care of. The crew worked non stop except when I insisted they get some lunch in them and eat from the sandwich tray I picked up. We had a long day but they kept at it. Took us 10.5 hours from pickup and packing the trucks to the new house 20 miles away for unloading and placing in all of our rooms. Very smooth and on time move. The staff was great to work with and followed up before the move. The movers were very friendly, fast and careful with our things. They even put everything where we asked and out furniture and beds together and even loaded the clothes that were on hangars from the wardrobe boxes into the closets. The move was okay. Nothing was damaged though I felt my study table which looks normal but is ridiculously expensive (standing desk) was handle casually (put on its side and not placed properly). Nothing to protect the floors at destination which had hardwood floors - May be I could have asked, but they were so slow, I didn't wanted to ask anything and delay further. One of the movers was really slow. Clearly doing quarter of the work. He literally called himself "Senior Citizen". I felt bad for the other guy who did all the work because later the tip was split in half. Because one of the movers was ridiculously slow, I helped move a lot of things. I had less stuff to move since the quote was given because I got rid of armoire I had and also moved a lot of boxes myself during the week. Why do I still give them 3 stars instead of 1? Because at the end, they charged me for 3.25 hours and original estimate was four hours (sand bagging). Since I didn't paid more than I expected, I was relieved. During the moving process I was getting furious. I have friends who also are in home buying process right now, and I will strongly advise my friends against using these guys. read more

I rarely write reviews but I really feel this is warranted and deserved. We used Century Lombard twice within the past 3 months for two large moves (from a 6000sq ft house to a 10,000sq ft house). We moved a lot of furniture in the initial move and left the rest for staging, hence two moves. The crew showed up in a clean professional truck. We have a lot of heavy furniture that needed to be moved up a tricky stairs. I could hear and see the stress of the load on the crew as they hoisted and lifted the very big pieces up a winding stairs but they did it with care and enthusiasm. These guys are work horses. We had Loddy and crew (Martin) etc. complete the two moves for us. Loddy is VERY careful about not damaging the floors or woodwork etc. The crew are respectful, accommodating and super hard working. I would highly recommend Loddy and Martin. Tracey, Janis and Meghan are also very accommodating. We were so happy that we tipped them for both moves. They deserve a raise as this is literally back breaking work. Some of the reviews below are unfair as they are not for the Lombard location. I wouldn't hesitate in hiring Century Lombard! read more

My movers arrived obviously fatigued, and took their time throughout the day, taking frequent rests between trips to and from the truck. As movers in IL charge by the hour (state law), this upped the cost of my move substantially. I took my case to the owner afterwards who took some time off the move, which I appreciated, but I still paid more than I should have for the quality of work I recieved. If you have problems with these guys, call the owner afterwards. read more

Proceed with caution. They were great about scheduling last minute and they had a good sized truck but beware of the time it will take. It took these guys over 6 hours hours to move my modest sized house after I got almost everything but large furniture in the garage prior to their arrival. They also indicated it would take them an hour less for the unload but that also took just as long. So at 12 full hours, you can imagine my sticker shock (it exceeded their walk-through estimate dramatically). Other issues was the reassembling of furniture; several screws missing from my son's bunk-beds, didn't put my couch back together and pieces of the trampoline were scattered throughout the yard. I had to call the manufacturer to send a crew out to put my kids bed back together as it was so poorly re-assembled I was unable to figure it out. Again, management seems solid but I am guessing that your experience is going to be hit or miss based on the team you get. read more

These mover is great! We got quotes from four movers, they were not the lowest (Always toss the lowest and highest) but less than the other two, and they were great! We moved from Chicago Northshore to near Kalamazoo MI, little more than half a trailer load. This is a family owned/operated company and agent for BEKINS. There was no flimflam shell game about the quote, mileage, extra charges, whatever. They showed up on time, the driver was great to work with and the workers worked their butt off. Moving is the last thing on most peoples wish list, BUT if you are moving from Chicago area Illinois (and lots of people are) . . . Get a quote from these guys. read more

Never received an email with the quote 3 days later so I sent another message to the owner on yelp and he apologized, but said Megan will get the quote to me ASAP. 6 days later, still nothing. Worst moving experience I've ever had. This moving company is owned and employed by crooks. DO NOT USE!! WARNING!!!! 1. It took 6 hours for 3 men to move a one-bedroom apartment less than 1 mile away 2. The final price was over double the amount I was originally quoted. The price I was quoted was $460 and the final price was $1015. 3. They moved one box at a time asking where to put the boxes although every box was labeled. 4. They took frequent smoking breaks 5. Their smoking breaks were on the truck along with my Restoration Hardware furniture. 6. They took personal phone calls while getting paid by the hour 7. They were intentionally distracting me with small talk about the wife, kid parties, retirement home, the many times they moved and the wife remodeled the home and bought new furniture for each move, etc. The stories went on and on regardless of how many times I walked away. This was intentional to extend the moving time. 8. They tracked dirt onto the ivory colored carpet. 9. They drove off to the second location after agreeing they would follow me over. They sat in front of the second location with time just ticking away. 10. They told me my sofa wouldn't fit onto the elevator so they tried to move it up the stairs. It was like fitting a round peg into a square hole. Anyone who's in the moving business for many years would be able to eyeball and look at the size of the sofa compared to the size of the stairwell and know that the sofa was not going to fit. Or they could've used measuring tape but of course that would be too sophisticated for this moving company. This process tacked on an additional hour and out of frustration I decided to toss my beautiful sofa. Hindsight, I think they could've fit the sofa on the elevator because I never saw them try. This was just another ploy to waste time and extort more money. Before the move, I talked to the owner of the company and after giving him an itemized list of ALL of my furniture along with the number of boxes, he gave me a quote for $460 (2 mover for 4 hours $115 an hour). I called him back the next day and told him that I added 10 additional boxes and I'd like 3 movers because I had plans that evening and I only had 4 hours max to move. I was quoted a price $580 (3 mover for 4 hours $145 an hour). It took 3 men 6 hours to move a one-bedroom apartment less than 1 mile away. This company has been in business for over 25 years. How can the owner be so far off from quoting a one-bedroom apartment? He should be able to quote a one-bedroom in his sleep don't you think? I would even allow them to be off by a couple hundred dollars but double the amount I was quoted? They're liars and crooks because it doesn't take that long to move a one-bedroom apartment. The movers deliberately did everything in their power to extend the time by moving at the slowest pace possible. If I would've kept 2 movers, the final price could've been over $1300. I voiced my concern to the owner and he never apologized or appeared shocked by the claims I made. He did eventually agree to issue me a refund of half of the total price but he only issued me a partial credit. This is just another example of the owner's dishonest unethical business practices. read more

I gave them a five star rating because they earned it. The Good...The move went smoothly, everyone worked hard and they accommodated our numerous requests. Only one piece of furniture was damaged and they brought it to our attention immediately and the furniture repair man was scheduled immediately. The had a heated truck for my many, many plants so they could be moved in January in Chicago without damage. We had just installed new flooring in our new home and the guys put felt pads on ALL furniture to protect the floor. They moved pieces of furniture around numerous times so all was placed exactly where I wanted it.The owner of Century Moving came every day the house to insure we were happy with the move. The Bad...I have many pieces of textured and fabric art that hang on the walls. I requested that any hardware taken off the wall accompany the piece of art so that they could be hung in the new house with the same hardware. This was not consistently done. The Ugly... I am disappointed about all the cigarette butts thrown on the ground. I don't mind if they smoke but please discard of the butts properly. Description of work: Century Moving packed, moved and unpacked a two bedroom, two office, three and half bath, living room, dinning room, family room, kitchen and a finished basement in four days. It took a semi two days (loading in the morning and unloading in the afternoon) plus a smaller truck to move us. There were four packers and five movers. We woke up in our old home one morning and that same night went to sleep in our new home. This move was not for the faint of heart. Thank you Century. read more

Century has moved us once, my parents once and two friends. Every experience was top of the line. Their estimates were right on the mark, they finished on time, within budget and everything was treated with the utmost care. We are about to move again and without hesitation, they have offered up boxes, wrapping paper, tape and storage if we need it. This is one item of the move we do not have to be concerned with. Century Moving is the best! The 6 men showed up at our house on April 29 at 7:30 in the morning, right on time. They worked continuously until 7:30 at night and only took a lunch break when Chicago weather with rain and lightening broke out. We had a large amount of goods with some that were packed too heavy (my apologies) and all items arrived without a scratch and without a single breakage. I have never seen a harder working crew despite the long day. Not only did they work hard, but they were friendly and helpful throughout the entire time. They are horrible , they were over 4 hours late to start the move, and they were 4 hours late to deliver my belongings, I was told it was because of the weather , the movers told me they had to do one move before mine. They sent two movers in a budget rental truck. After being 4 hours late the owner called the moving team and told them to hurry up the move as they needed to go to another move. I had my things in storage for two months , they went through my things while in storage as there were large holes in the side of the boxes as if they were looking in side the sealed boxes, they failed to deliver two boxes , which contained my vacuum, expensive flatware for 12 , a coin collection etc. I have had international moves , cross country moves , and a few local domestic moves . this was the worse experience I have had with movers. I sent an email about my missing boxes and items with no response. A nightmare experience. read more

After getting several quotes, we chose Century Moving to move us from Warrenville to California. Before the move, they were very easy to get ahold of and helpful. Our belongings were scheduled to be picked up June 4, and the guaranteed window for delivery in California was June 12-20. It was not until June 17 that a driver was scheduled to pick up our stuff and start driving. He could not fit our stuff on the truck with the other shipment, so he did not take anything. I emailed on June 18th to check on the status and did not hear back. I called on June 19, to be told that our shipment never even left. Long story short, Century put most of the blame on Bekins Van Lines for the delay. Our belongings didn't arrive until July 3--13 days late. When asked for compensation, they directed me straight to Bekins, saying that only Bekins could give a refund and that Century would not compensate me in any way. Every email after our stuff was delivered went unanswered. To top it off, many pieces of our expensive wood furniture was damaged. If you want a company that is friendly enough to gain your business before and during the move, but don't mind waiting almost a month for your belongings to have no communication afterwards, choose Century. If not, I would look elsewhere. read more
