I should have known how this experience was going to go when I walked in the door with my group of 6 other ladies for a bachelorette party for my friend...the bartender greeted us with "what are you doing? Can I help you with something?" Which is pretty shocking and rude, and I wonder if we should have just left after that. By this time I was already lightweight ready to call Michael Finney because that felt like unfair service to me but I decided to just calm down. We were then uneasily greeted by a server (or was it a patron? Because she was sitting at the bar) and she asked us what we wanted to drink. Ok now it seemed like she thought we were about to rob her or something, which made me wonder if it's because we're brown... our next server was lovely lady who was actually really pleasant. Please also keep in mind there were 5 other people in this bar, so a switch in servers is strange. We started then playing a card game in which we had to guess songs by singing one line. Doesn't that sound fun? Well I guess it's fun if you're a fun person or a fun business, mind you this is a bar, and mind you this is around 6pm. So I suppose these people are not fun. Because after that, we were informed that we were too loud. Ok great, not a business I would promote to anyone so we tried to finish our drinks as quickly as we could and get the hell out of there. I guess the worst part of this is, right before we left, the waitress was already telling people they could grab our table AND (best part) a band was getting ready to play. Have you ever been a bar with a band playing? ITS FUCKING LOUD. So, if you want to be treated like you're a suspicious character and then curtly informed you're too loud in a bar, this is the place for you. Will not visit this place again and definitely will tell all my friends to skip downtown Pleasanton. If anyone were to ask about this place I would passionately talk them against it. read more

We rented Cellar Door out for my dad's birthday party. It was a huge success and everyone had a blast. The owner is incredibly nice and accommodating. We had delicious cheeses, veggies and hummus, followed by the most delicious flatbread pizza. Definitely a "two thumbs up" experience. read more

Stopped in on Saturday afternoon. Not sure why the last wine place that was very similar didn't do well, but Cellar Door seems to be doing much better. We stopped in for a wine flight only to have the nice staff remember us and noticed our engagement the whole staff brought over complimentary glasses of champagne to congratulate us! Beyond sweet! Excellent, diverse wine list (yet somewhat local to the northern cali area), owners really know their product and truly have a passion for good local wines. They also have local microbrews on tap (the Hellahoppy from Altamont Brewing was just that! Great choice for local beer flavour!) Also had the mushroom bruschetta, really tasty. Didnt get a chance to try more, but the menu looks interesting. The building is nicely done, warm and inviting, great bar and lounge area, and very cool custom made cellar door artwork. Local sports on tv in the corner (the A's game was on when I was there). If you like really good, small production, northern california wine and microbrews, this is the place to go in the east bay! read more

Love this place. Our first visit was when we were on a little road trip and just wanted to relax with some some appetizers and a glass of wine. So we yelled "small bites/tapas" and voila--Yelp led us to exactly what we wanted. Our hat/server was so attentive and helpful as we explored the menu. More recently, we were on a much longer road trip with another couple and needed a lunch/rest stop! So naturally, Cellar Door immediately came to mind. Again, it was wonderful! Went with friends during the Friday night concerts at the park across the street. Very popular during the concerts. I also like going when they have their own single or duos singing as they have a soft volume you can still speak over. I had the "choose your own artisan cheese combo" and she had the flatbread. Strongly recommend the Cabernet Sauvignon flight which includes one of my favorites from Mia Nipote winery. The ladies that work there are very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines. read more

I've been going here since they opened. They are doing a good job and mixing up the wine and food and making the place fun. They have music some nights and tastings with a wine maker other nights which adds to the fun. The business seems to be growing and some nights they will have a good sized crowd but finding a seat hasn't been a problem. We had the opportunity to try wines from areas of California that we'll probably never travel to. Also had the flatbread and meat and cheese plate. Everything was fantastic! What is happening here? We've been in several times lately to enjoy the live music. We really love the fact that this place supports local musical talent in a cozy atmosphere. But the service is pretty sketchy. Waited a long time to place our drink order while the waiter stood at the bar. Also hard to get his attention when we ordered food and for the check. What has happened to the quality of food? I remember having a crispy crunchy crust on the flat bread, almost like a fresh cracker....not last night! It was soggy and had weird little "sausage" pellets . Not ordering that again. We needed utensils, too but none were offered/provided. What is the rush to remove glassware before it is empty? It wasn't like they were so busy they needed the table. It just seemed kind of frantic and disorganized. Hopefully it will get better and more relaxed so we can again enjoy a nice evening of music and drinks with real food. read more

Came here with girlfriends. Got two flights to share, the blends. Not impressed. But this review is more about the service. We sat at the bar, 10 minutes passed before we received any attention. Ordered a couple flights and a glass, and hummus. Hummus took 20 min, asked for the bill and to cancel. Reallly wasn't impressed and won't be returning. The place is cute and has a speakeasy/wine bar ambience. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Staff was super informative and friendly.
