Celis Brewery has a really nice vibe. Even with a little light rain during the event, the atmosphere still felt relaxed and welcoming. I could definitely see myself coming back when it's open to the public just to hang out and enjoy the space. The layout is great, plenty of room to move around, and it feels like the kind of spot you can post up with friends for a few hours. The staff was amazing -- friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Overall, great energy and solid experience. I'll definitely be back.

We stopped by this brewery on our last day as it was near where we were staying. It is a huge location so it's perfect for large groups and they have both indoor and a huge outdoor beer garden area. They have really cool events going on most nights. When we were there - they were doing an astrology on tap experience, which was very cool. They have a couple of food trucks that are available as well. One of the ones that we tried Was this food truck had masala fries. They were so perfectly cooked and so well seasoned we literally destroyed the entire thing. They have a great selection of beers on tap most brewed using old world European style, but they also have some great new things as well too for those who are looking for IPAs or something else. They also do their own sparkling water and they have a sparkling water with electrolytes so basically Gatorade like.

Yelp! Elite Event at Celis. Cheers!

Makers of good beer! Gotta get Celis White, but also try the others (Grand Cru, porter, ipa etc) they are easy drinking brews. Violet Crown, a Belgian Style Quad, is a treat when available.

Celis is a classic North Austin brewery that offers a very laid back vibe and fun activities inside. The brewery is dog friendly and has many games such as corn hole, plus it has some TVs that are always showing the game. Parking here can be a bit tricky as the lot is a bit small but they do have an auxiliary lot out back that you can park in. In that auxiliary lot there's actually a couple of food trucks so if you need to grab a bite you can do so there as well. There's a stage out back where bands sometimes play at and the interior had sewing class being taught when we went so the vibes here are very casual and fun. The beer itself is delicious and they have many options you may struggle to find elsewhere, although you can see some of their beers in HEB. When we went the line was a bit long as there was only one bartender there and maybe about 30 people throughout the whole place, but that's the only remotely negative thing we can note. Celis is just a great place to grab a few beers with friends and spend a weekend afternoon watching some games on. That plus its relatively family friendly atmosphere makes it a neighborhood standout. We recommend this as a great place to just chill and take the edge off, especially if you're looking to bring your canine companion.

I can see why the bar is so popular. I wanna hear for a random event and I love the open space outside. Bartenders are super cool and it's interesting. Set up being next to another tap room that they also own. Doesn't hurt that it's close to the Q2 stadium either

A friend of mine is a fan of this brewery so went by on Sunday afternoon while visiting Austin. It was not very crowded, which was good, but I was surprised. All the beers were really good! Had free popcorn and TVs everywhere to watch football. Overall a really good place!

This is one of our favorite places to bring the pups. We usually grab a drink and head to their dog park or stay on the patio and listen to live music. For service you go up to the bar and on a busy night they are super quick to get your drinks. They have a great selection of beers.

My favorite event of the year!

Quality spot. Always a good time and even better beer. Great location, beautiful venue, big outdoor space, food trucks, private parking, friendly staff, and delicious beer. What more could you ask for.

Outdoor area with off leash dog area where your dog can run around while drinking beer. Also fairly large and has poop bags!

AMBIANCE: Located near Austin FC stadium, this brewery is great place to hang out and watch football. My husband and I absolutely love this brewery. As a dog mom, I love finding places I can take my dog to. I love that they allow both dogs inside (for when the rare times Austin is too cold) and outside on their patio, as well as have a fenced off leash area where dogs can run around and play while you hang out with your friends. They also have plenty of TVs inside and outside all bar areas so great spot to enjoy and watch sport games (we came and watched UT and Kansas Chiefs). Great sports bar. On a Saturday we went wasn't too crowded. This is a great spot for large groups - plenty of seating everywhere. FOOD: The brewery itself doesn't have food, but they always have at least 2-3 food trucks in the back. As a vegetarian I appreciate there was Backdraft Pizzeria and Con Todo (James Beard award winning taco truck!) with vegetarian options on both. PARKING: plenty of free parking as have own dedicated lots - know that half spots are on gravel and other half paved. BEER: I am not a beer drinker, but my husband is and he loves the hazy IPA. They have a nice rotation of at least 10 beers on tap and do have ciders for non beer drinkers.

The vibe, the ambiance and the setup (including food trucks) are excellent. The beer is good and food at the food trucks is decent too. Let me address the missing star first. This is the most expensive brewery in Austin in my opinion. We have had lots of awesome beers across tens of breweries in Austin and I don't recall paying $20 for 2 beers including the tip at any of these places. That said, I think the live music and the weather made it worth for us. The Margarita flatbread from the pizza truck was flavorful but we have never had a flatbread this thin. I wish it were more satisfying quantity-wise. We will definitely go back :)

Great beer and history. Just go and have the Wit (white). It's fresh and blows away the famous import, though it is the "same recipe".

I love mushrooms and thought about trying the Laughing Buddha which has a breaded/fried mushroom caps with cheese in between, but it might have been a bit too much cheese so I went with the Double Cheeseburger. The double cheeseburger is pretty much everything you want in a solid burger. 2 juicy smashed patties, perfectly melted cheese, and a great balance of toppings without being messy. The flavor is bold and beefy, and you can tell they use quality ingredients. It's the kind of burger that hits the spot from the first bite to the last. The cajun fries were super crisp on the outside and fluffy inside, and the onion rings ended up being one of the standout sides. They were thick-cut, crunchy, and not greasy at all, with a light batter that let the onion actually shine. Both dip well in their nirvana sauce. Service was friendly, and food came out hot. If you're craving a classic, well-made burger meal in Austin, Buddha Burger is absolutely worth a visit. Value wise, I'm still a Buddy's Burger fan as they're also super solid, but Buddha Burger is great too if you're in the area. Do be careful going up and down their stairs to order/pick up order.

They said it would be about 20 minutes for food since they were slammed, but I appreciate knowing it was made to order, so no problems there. Tried the Kaeng Panaeng and it was good overall. Huge portion size but wasn't quite what I was expecting. Salad was pretty standard but I'm glad they kept it separate so it wouldn't wilt from the heat. As for the chicken, I was hoping by itself it would be more thai inspired/marinated/seasoned but it's effectively just chopped up chicken tenders to be dunked in the curry. The curry is flavorful, albeit a bit watery, which I wish was reduced a bit. But if curry is not your thing, my friend's Kai Zabb was very good: tangy, sweet and heat all at once, so good to really switch up bites. And while I wasn't expecting sticky rice, I can't help but say it's the first time I've had thai fried chicken without it. All in all, I think its a great new place to try out, but if you've had thai fried chicken before, just temper your expectations.

Cousin's Maine Lobster Truck is a weird experience…read more It was fun to do once. I am probably not going to follow the truck from town to town so I never miss a single chance to get a lobster roll. * * * Cousin's Maine Lobster is a franchise of very very mobile trucks that sell lobster rolls. They also sell other lobster-on-top-of-stuff dishes. Their gimmick which I am not sure is a plus is to have no fixed location. They publish a list of places where the truck will be every week - generally one location for lunch and the other location for dinner. The Central Texas Truck could be anywhere from Georgetown to San Antonio. You can't just go there when you want unless you are willing to drive from Austin to San Antonio or San Antonio to Georgetown to get your lobster roll. * * * One consequence of being eternally mobile is that the truck has no regular or guaranteed access to a bathroom. You go to a brick and mortar restaurant - and the health code will require that that restaurant have a bathroom. Most food courts have some sort of bathroom - either one owned by the food court or one in a gas station or convenience store near the food court. Cousin's has nothing. So you not only have to plan ahead for when the truck is going to be within driving distance of you ... but you also have to plan to have done all of your personal business BEFORE you go to order from the truck. I do NOT consider this to be a positive feature. * * * There is also the issue of WHERE you eat your lobster preparation once you have received it. You could eat in your car. (For Samuel C that means a guaranteed necessary trip to a car wash.) There was almost no place to sit near where Cousins was located my day which was in the Yuppie complex of apartments near Oracle near Riverside. The park near where the truck was stationed has no park benches. I found ONE bench on the street mercifully provided by an apartment complex. Without that one bench I would have been scroodled. * * * I am from New England and have lots of experience with lobster. My personal opinion is that the way to eat lobster is boiled with a vast quantity of melted butter for dipping. The downside of a lobster roll is that the bread hides the taste of the lobster. This makes your investment in expensive raw materials kind of a waste. Mixing lobster with stronger tasting ingredients - which is what Cousin's does on the dump-ons - allows the stronger tasting ingredients to compensate for the diminished lobster experience. This is the way to go with Cousins. I did a Lobster On Tater Tots With Sauce concept and was not displeased. * * * Lobster should be boiled fresh from the fishing boat and eaten right on the spot. (For a related concept, see corn on the cob.) This is why people go to Maine for lobster and why clambakes with the shellfish just obtained an hour before the clambake make good sense. Shipping your lobster from Maine to Texas isn't terrible since the lobster is in water. Taking the lobster out of the shell and making raw ingredients for your lobster roll or lobster taco has started the clock ticking. As it happens ... The lobster gets old and stronger. This actually turns out to be a plus if you are dumping your lobster on tater tots. Eating old strong fish is an institution in Korean cooking. They like mackerel and other potent fish that pack a pow ... And aging the fish provides a taste Koreans really like. With lobster, aging gives you an ingredient that can stand up to being mixed with other ingredients. * * * This is all well and good. But it is not fresh lobster straight off the boat boiled and served in its natural goodness with only melted butter for a garnish. Some regional foods just don't travel.
