I came here with my friend and my husband. I actually hate beer (sorry), but I came as company. This was actually our first time visiting. They got the beer flight. There was a Groupon for it, and it seemed like a good deal! They had such a great time and said the beers were amazing. Place is def dog friendly which is super cool and has a very chill laid back vibe. Definitely felt comfortable. As we were heading out, a band was setting up to play. We went in on a Sunday so I guess they have live music on Sunday evenings. Maybe also other days? Not sure but worth a google. I also noticed they have weekly events which seem like fun. Great brewery, they had really good live music, a dog rescue event with a raffle and auction and a lot of dogs today. They had free items for dogs. The music was too loud, so we eventually moved inside. That was a pity since we liked the music. They had a couple of food trucks that would have been enticing, but we just ate. Good beer and great atmosphere. Plenty of parking, and they had a pretty full house today. read more

We didn't like most of the beers on our flights. Perhaps we aren't the right audience, as this brewery specializes in the sweeter Belgian style beers, but we tried beers across the spectrum and although some were ok there were none we felt we'd go back for a pint of. Love love love the new outdoor area at Celis! This has always been a super dog friendly brewery but now there's even a dog park! Beer is always good here. I'm normally an IPA person, but found their Mexican lager to be great on a hot day. Lots of outdoor seating and a couple of TVs to catch the game. There's some food trucks on site too. Celis Brewery has a huge outdoor space, live music, an indoor area, very dog friendly, and I counted at least 4 food trailers. I think the food trailers consisted of pizza, tacos, German sausages, and sliders. I loved the ample seating, mixed crowd of people, and the decent variety of beers. I am pretty sure it's strictly beers and ciders here - no wine or cocktails. This place will be great for a hot summer day and cold beer. read more

How and why have I not reviewed Celis!?! I'll put it down to old age. Celis, as y'all know, is an Austin institution- steeped in history, the first craft brewer to bring Belgian beer to the craft world in ATX (I think), so y'all can rest knowing that their wheat beers are AWESOME. The tap room is large, airy, albeit a little dimly lit. There's patio seating outside and get this- DOGS ALLOWED INSIDE AND OUT! They also welcome kids! Actually I think everyone is welcome here. It's one of the friendlier breweries in ATX IMHO. We've visited almost every Sunday during covid and I can say that they're taking every precaution. There's live music on the weekends from 6-9pm. Beer wise - I like the options. If you're a sour beer connoisseur, you'll enjoy the raspberry sour. Light beer? Lo Lo Lager. Safe, easy drinking? Celis White. I know this place has had its ups and down but as Austinites, we need to show support to our local businesses and just be cool with each other. read more

Dog friendly place!! Treats are even given to the dogs! We got a flight so that we could have a taste of different brews. My favorite was the mango. We got a full glass after sampling them. We got the pomegranate, raspberry, a Pilsner, and of course the mango! It was pretty dead on a Sunday night but still a cool place to hang out at. read more

Belgium comes to Austin. Ole man Celis came from overseas to start this beer back in the day and people high and low loved this beer. They loved this beer so much that many fans became depressed when it went out of availability. Christina Celis continues her fathers legacy today and has brought back the original recipe good stuff. If you haven't tasted Celis beer you are missing out. Drink it fresh from the source at the brewery, facilities are pretty and fresh and clean and full of a great historical story. The Barkeep dude explained the story to my sister when I was failing the details. He told a kick ass story. Delicious beer with history and delight. read more

Celis Brewery is home to the best beer in Texas. I personally love the Belgian Beers and in my humble opinion think they are amongst the best in the world. This brewery successfully reproduces the original beers that will remind you a lot of Duvel, Chimay and the Trappistes. If you are a beer lover, this is for you. Wonderful brewery with a huge beer garden. Perfect for families with kiddos who need to run around. I love the lime and raspberry sours.

The shiny new beer garden is nice, but not nice enough to cover up the stench of greed festering from the owners stealing money from a Divine Canines. I cannot in good conscience continue to patron this business and their products until there is something done to correct this by the owners. Music also kinda sucks too and the beer is average at best, plenty of other breweries here up north to go to instead. read more

Really nice spot with friendly staff to try their great beers. Kiek is just about my favorite beer in the world. They lose a star for a couple reasons. They frequently have bands playing on the outdoor stage and they are not good (even during an Austin FC game). I was talking to the bartender inside and he agreed. Not sure why they do that it would be better with no music. The other thing is the food trucks are not good. They have pizza and Mexican and both are pretty bad. Usually when we go there, we order doordash from somewhere else. A minor thing is they often advertise that they will show a sporting event with the sound on and sometimes they don't. I hope this won't dissuade you from visiting. It's a great place that could be better. read more

Went to this brewery for their Tuesday's $1 oyster special, and had a great time! The brewery is easy to get to, has plenty of parking, and tucked away in a low key part of north Austin. Perfect place to stop by after work on a weekday. The oysters were outstanding, the price is awesome for east coast oysters. In the midst of all the other wonderful breweries in the area, the appeal of Celis is its history and the space itself. The venue is moderately sized, clean, and really nicely laid out and decorated. The bar area is especially unique and I think it's quite beautiful. In addition to beers brewed by Celis, there are also Uncle Billy's brews, and you can mix an match any of them in a flight ($10). Of the beers I tried, I personally preferred the Celis beers - the White (witbier) and Citrus Grandis IPA were both bursting with flavor. There's a rotating food truck outside (the bartenders really went to town on their food when I was there!) and several board games to keep you entertained. Celis Brewery has had a 2.0 moment after becoming once again a family-owned business when they were initially bought by the Miller Company. Originally founded in 1992- it's great to see the passion the family has for brewing craft beers. CB not only features their own beers but is also home for the tasting room of Uncle Ben beers. They offer tours at select times but man I was just in love with the main copper bar. It was like an overload of steampunk in the best way possible. They feature pretzels and nuts available for purchase and if you're not sure what to grab then take advantage of their flights. I tried one of their IPAs and it was quite refreshing. My friends and I came on a Saturday afternoon to try some beers and get a tour. There was a mom and son working behind the bar (family owned brewery) and the son is an Aggie like us. He gave us a tour around the brewery and was very informative and interesting. He moved here as a child from Belgium and he and his family know their stuff. The son let us sample some too before we ordered. I got the Celis Citrus and tried the Celis White and they were both great. I liked the White better bc it was more crisp. The citrus I chose bc I like orangey beers like Blue Moon but it was a bit too sour in the aftertaste for me. The bar is gorgeous dark wood in the center of the place set up like a round table. The interior was all brick and stone and felt very historic and rustic. I loved it and would definitely come back. read more

We redeemed our Groupon here for 2 flights + 2 cans of beer for $14. It was an extremely great deal. The tasting room felt cozy, the bartenders were welcoming, and most importantly the beers were tasty. The place is dog friendly, we encountered a number of adorable pups, really adds to the whole chill vibe of the place. We're not really brewery-goers but we could definitely see ourselves at Celis Brewery time and time again. There's not a 'warehouse-y feel', it feels better than that. read more

After hearing and reading about all the hype surrounding the rebirth of Celis Brewery I can report that Celis exceeded my expectations. Yup it's crowded and a tad cramped but deal with it if you want to experience some excellent examples of Belgium beer. Despite being slammed our bartender took his time explaining the beer offerings, a brief history of Celis, and their plans for the future. The Celis White and Whit were on point and I could be my new favorites. Their NE IPA not so much. Not sure if my palate was spoiled by the previous beers but the NE IPA tasted "off" to me. There is a lot of breweries in the area but Celis is one of my favorite. They are family and women owned and very receptive and kind to their customers. They have reposted my pictures on social media and allowed a close friend to film a short film there for free. The beers are unique and delicious, with lots of options on tap! They have nightly specials and events, all of which are fun! For example trivia on mondays and Thursday, and they have little long horn saloon come do chicken shit bingo once a month there as well. At one point I was going every week for the Tuesday 99c east coast oysters. Among many other specials. There has been some miscommunication in the past with showing games but the manager working at the time is always very quick to help out. For example none of the TVs had sound on when they advertised they all did, there was confusion inside but the manager was outside and apologized and immediately turned on the sound inside and changed to social media to reflect inside. I also noticed that someone had paid to play the juke box and he paused their songs and gave them a free beer for rhe inconvenience. The dog park is also very nice and spacious and the new beer patio is very well put together! I am looking forward to live music! Unrelated to Celis itself, but Black draft pizza truck is good there but overpriced. I am excited to try the new con todo truck! read more

I freakin love it here! We went for the re-grand opening and it was PACKED! I've never been to a brewery that hit capacity before and I've been to plenty during events. The hype for Celis returning to Austin is peak and I was excited to visit the place that my parents raved about beer from since I was a kid. I'll definitely be back again on numerous occasions, especially if they add a food truck or too. The space is amazing with a huge copper mash tun repurposed as the central bar. There is a lot of history in the space, from the signs and pictures, bottle labels collaged into the bar, and medals up on the walls. The Wit was one of the best Wits I've tried and my favorite beer here- on par with Hoegarden. The IPA was ok, but I just think the co2 was low when I got one. The Bock was impressive and puts Shiner to shame. I'm so happy to see a local brewery that's doing Belgian right when everyone else is obsessed with IPAs and sours. I can't wait to try more. Btw, for a fun date night or touristy time, park at an open lot and check out Celis, 4th Tap, Adelbert's, and Oskar Blues! They're all within walking distance and there's bound to be a food truck and music at at least one of them. read more

Beer was fine. Bartender was probably the worst I've ever experienced. Acted like we were an annoyance. Seemed to just want to hang out with the regulars and buds. Went to look at souvenirs and he poured out my beer, which still had a 3rd of a glass left. I've been looking forward to visiting for a while since we in town for the F1 race and I used to visit the Celis brewery in Michigan when it was operating. Experience was a total turn off. read more

I was pleasantly surprised at the location and cool factor of this brewery. Parking was ok. Easy to find. Once you walk in the theme is very well played out. Plenty of seating. In the middle is the bar. Not huge but big enough. They have board games for free. Ping pong table was fun. Restrooms are nice and clean. To bad they don't have food. The front of house versus the back was a big contrast. Front of house was a nightmare. They were blaring music so loud - outside - that we couldn't have a conversation across the table. Every customer looked like they were only there for Instagram pictures and the perfume was so thick you could see it hanging in the air. The waitress inside is ummm... dressed to get big tips. Ahem. Then you go back to the outdoor concert area, and it's a lot of families with kids and regular people. Weird. Beer was okay, but after the cloud of perfume I was honestly too sick to drink.
