Time elapsed between ordering and delivery: excellent
Margarita pide: pretty darn good
Fries: slightly soggy, most delicious, obviously hand-cut
Yummy yummy sauce: I'll give it one yummy
Mango soda: I'll probably try pomegranate if I order from them again
The baklava: tiny
Overall: I want to give them more stars, but I'd have to order again or perhaps check out the restaurant in person in order to know for sure
Two and a half stars is what I would have given Cazbar, were it an option. A little better than meh, not quite A-OK. The food itself was delicious, but the portions were not as large as I had hoped for based on a quick search for some images of the food I was about to order.
If I don't go out on Friday, and it's payday, I typically put on my pajamas, order some food, and hunker down for an evening of whatever. I started to think that maybe I was in the mood for Indian, but when I got to foodler's page and saw that Cazbar was open, delivering, and offering triple points on their orders, I figured I'd give it a shot.
I was trying to stay close to the $15 minimum and unable to decide on any of the meze, so I steered away from the more traditional Turkish fare and opted for some fairly simple yet delicious sounding dishes. Can't go wrong with mozzarella, basil, and tomato, so I ordered a margarita pide. Intriged by the idea of "yummy yummy sauce" and almost always in the mood for something with potatoes, I also got the fries, and an order of baklava for dessert. To top it off, I thought I'd try the mango Cazbar flavored soda, even though pomegranate is apparently their most popular flavor if the site is to be trusted. I certainly enjoy pomegranate, but it's no secret that mango and I go way back.
The arrival was perfectly timed. Not quite ready for delivery at the promised time of 10:20, I was happy when the driver rolled up at 10:26 and I was ready and waiting. I had paid online but didn't have to sign anything, which is a bonus in my book, as I was on the phone with my boyfriend at the time of delivery. Well, because of that fact I also didn't notice at first that the driver had forgotten my mango soda. I quickly hung up, called the restaurant, and when no one answered left a message. I nibbled on my food while I chatted with the furry manbeast (of course I called him back), and decided to eat some of the baklava before settling in on the couch with my laptop. All I could think while eating the pide and the fries was how dry my mouth felt and how refreshing I imagined the mango soda would have been.
Figuring it couldn't hurt to try one more time, I called the restaurant again and this time was able to explain my situation to the gal who answered the phone. She put me on with the driver, who listened to what I had to say and reluctantly told me that he'd bring me my soda. Damn straight you'll bring me my soda, you charged me $3 for it! I was a delivery girl the summer after I graduated from my undergrad institution and I'm sorry, anything less than "omg!!! i'm so sorry i'll be right back with your soda!" and maybe bringing an extra baklava is unacceptable. That's the difference right there between repeat business or not, and exactly the sort of thing that weighs heavily on the decision making process as I'm trying to figure out what I want to have delivered when I order in.
I'm still waiting for my soda, as of this writing.
Update: the soda arrived. It's okay, but definitely not three dollars worth of awesome. The fact that the driver smiled and was apologetic will probably make me order from them again. read more
