3rd time coming to Cazbar and once again, left happy. The service always comes with a smile and the food is always delish. We came on a Thursday night for a later than normal dinner around 9:15pm. We had to wait just a minute or two to be seated because no one was at the front, but it was a very short wait. It wasn't crowded, prolly bc it was so late, so our food and drinks came out promptly. We used a Groupon, again, bc it is such a great value. Will probably be back again this summer when they have the outdoor seating available. It's always great to eat under the stars...or at least what we can faintly see through the smog of the city, but, *ahem* that's another subject. read more

First, I have to say that the food here was pretty good. I lived in Turkey for a while, so I have a good idea of what's authentic and what's "fusion." The iskender was great, the sigara borek was perfect, and the manti was good even though the sauce was a bit off. That being said, we had a horrible experience and would not return nor recommend others to go. Last weekend, we purchased a Living Social Instant deal ($18 for $30 worth of food). When it came time to pay the bill, we were informed that the deal was invalid. When I handed them proof of my purchase, the manager or owner told me that he had cancelled that deal a couple days ago and he refused to honor it. He simply said that I wasn't losing any money because I'd get the refund from Living Social. He just stared at me blankly when I told him that this worked out well for him because he gets the money instead of Living Social. He proceeded to just argue with me rather than honor some sort of discount. So much for the Turkish hospitality that I came to experience and love. read more

The food was excellent as was the service! There were lots of vegetarian options & dessert sampler wow! My husband and I enjoyed a great date night here a couple of weeks ago. We had a cold mezza sampler and split the stuffed eggplant then shared the dessert sampler. It was a lot of food but sooo delicious! After an initial negative experience at Cazbar, we were reluctant to return, but finally did one night when out with another couple who really wanted to try it. Since it was a weeknight, we sat downstairs and wow! What a different experience! The food was simply fantastic and the service perfect. Hmmm... we might have to rethink our opinion here. Feeling brave, we tried Cazbar again, this time on a Friday night and upstairs to enjoy the dancing. The food was again fantastic, and the service was amazing, though it did slow down a bit at points, we were OK with that. Over all, the servers were on top of our needs and when it was slow, there were good reasons for it. Anytime there's a dancer, I expect things to be a bit less than snappy. We've been back twice more, and both times have had similar experiences. At this point, it seems like our one bad experience was not the norm at Cazbar. Even the hookah problem was solved as we discovered that there is an additional area upstairs where the dancers perform and hookahs are not served. Or you could eat downstairs - albeit with no dancers. The atmosphere is fun and a bit funky, and the lounge area is perfect for groups. If you go early, you can finish your meal and enjoy dessert and coffee during the belly dancing and be gone before the hookah lounge really gets going. Or, if hookah is your thing, come late, but get reservations! On all of our recent visits, we've found the wait staff attentive, pleasant and well informed about the extensive menu. This was my first introduction to Turkish food but I came here with a friend who formerly schooled in Turkey. We sat down for dinner around 5:15pm on a Friday and the restaurant was pretty empty however it started to fill up as the evening progressed. We were seated at the window seat which was really nice and were able to people watch as we had our meal. The staff here is really nice and even engaged with my friend as they practiced their Turkish. Their complimentary bread is really good and they aren't stingy with it. For my appetizer I ordered manti which I had seen on other Yelp reviews and was curious to experience. This Turkish version of dumplings was really good. It was served really warm and the yogurt sauce on top added a nice almost sour flavor that I really enjoyed. It was seasoned really well. My friend got a Turkish tomato soup that they really enjoyed. For my entrée I asked my waiter which dish was the most popular and which he would recommend. He suggested the Adana Iskender which I had seen great reviews of on yelp as well. The meat was really tasty as was the rice and sauce. I would not say that I am a fan of it served on top of bread however it was a good experience and I liked how it was authentic to their cuisine. However I cannot get over the fact that it did not come out hot. For dessert, I tried their kanafeh. I have to admit, I was a little skeptical of having cheese in a dessert however this worked really really well. The consistency of the cake and the pull of the cheese mixed with the sweetness of the syrup was divine and definitely satisfied my sweet tooth. After a full day, I was too tired to follow my original plan of dinner in Fells Point and instead decided to dine near my hotel. Turns out that it was a great decision. Although the restaurant was busy, we were still able to walk in and get a table on a Saturday evening without a reservation. The staff was nice, the food was delicious. We started with falafel and hummus, and  sigara borek. My companion then had manti, which was a sort of ravioli filled with chickpea, tomatoes, peppers and spices and topped with yoghurt, while I had the salmon kebap. I drank a Turkish wine and my companion finished the meal with baklava. The food was terrific and we really enjoyed the experience! read more

Fantastic dinner! The restaurant was beautiful and I loved all the lanterns they had. The upstairs had a mix of tables and lounge seating as well as a bar. If you're celebrating a birthday/special event or just looking for a nice date spot, you should come check out Cazbar! We ordered the Sultan's Platter and were so happy we did. It was a three course meal for either 2 or 4 people. The first course was a variety of dips: hummus, baba ghanoush, etc. All were very tasty! I wish we were served with pita though instead of bread. Next, we received salad and a huge platter with rice and tons of meat (lamb, beef, chicken, shrimp). We loved all of the different meats, especially the chicken. They were all tender and seasoned very well. And for dessert we had baklava. Perfect ending to dinner! The Sultan's Platter was a little pricey in my opinion, at $65 for the two of us, but if you're looking to impress your date you should definitely consider it! I've seen Cazbar on Groupon a few times, so be sure to check there first! Also, if you're contemplating whether to order hookah here or try the place next door, learn from my mistake and stay at Cazbar. It's cheaper here and less sketchy. Now what made Cazbar a 5 star experience was the belly dancing show! We made a reservation for 8:30 pm in order to make the 9:00 pm belly dancing show. If you want to see it make sure you are sitting in the upper dining room. She was a little late, so the show started closer to 9:30. But it was well worth the wait! She performed for about 15 minutes and had everyone entertained. Some people even got up and danced with her. This was a fantastic dinner! I came here while in Baltimore for a conference with a few of my coworkers, and it was a hit! The restaurant was buzzing on a Sunday night, so you know it's popular. It's very cozy and warm inside, and waitstaff was very friendly. We started off with the baba ganoush and shakshuka, both of which were flavorful and went well with the warm bread. For my meal I split a couple of the hot appetizers with my friend. The Lahmacun (turkish pizza) was a little dry and bland, but the manti (beef dumpings with yogurt and butter) was amazing. I would have gone for seconds of this dish! For dessert we shared the kunefe, which is phyllo dough with cheese and vanilla syrup. It was so good! It's a unique combination, but the cheese was mild and flavor and melted between the phyllo dough, so it added texture more than anything. We finished this dish quickly! If I'm ever back in Baltimore, I will definitely try to stop by this restaurant again! Next time I will try some of their entrees. And I will definitely end my meal with kunefe. read more

The staff took our last minute Friday Night reservation for six as we piled out 4 four children (aged 6-12) into the mini-van to head down to the parking garage they described around the corner (even though they also had valet parking there.) We ordered a few appetizers: Lahmacun: Turkish pizza topped with spicy ground beef, with tomatoes, onions & lemon and Manti: Handmade dumplings filled with beef & topped with yogurt & garlic butter ...And the Cazbar Sultans Platter B (Lg 4 guest) - $120. Served home-style: First Course - Cold Meze: Hummus, Baba Ghanoush, Ezme, Patlican Salatasi, Saksuka, Haydari, & Pancar with all you can eat fresh baked bread Second Course - Hot Meze: Adana, Lamb, Beef, Chicken, Kofte, Salmon, & Shrimp served with Jasmine and Basmati rice & a salt salad Third Course - Dessert: Baklava (and we also ordered vanilla ice cream and rice pudding) A true Sultan's Feast! The various dishes arrived in elegant style, and were deceptively filling. the spiciness varied from each Meze, but the Lahmacun was too spicy for the kids. We all tried the various cold Mezes and found delight in each one. When we were ready for the Hot Mezes I was almost sated, but found room for much of the meats, Salmon & seafood over rice. Each was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. We were pampered by the staff and never had to look for help with a question. The kids enjoyed many of these as well, but that didn't stop them from asking for some french-fries as well (some kids just don't appreciate good food until they've tasted it twice!) The various drinks offered were also a hit from the flavored and imported carbonated soft-drinks to my wife's "Turkish Sangria." This place is a gem! I had family in town and was looking for a nice Saturday lunch spot, and this fit the bill perfectly. Upon arriving, we were greeted at the door and given a basket to put our wet umbrellas in. We entered the dining room, which is a very nice mix of rustic brick and traditional Turkish art-- cozy! We sat down and were given tablets to view the menu, which was unexpected (although props to them, more eco-friendly than printing menus over and over again). We all ordered from the Ottoman 3-Course Daily Lunch Menu, $15 for: choice of starter soup, choice of meze dip with fresh bread, entree. The pumpkin soup was refreshingly different because it featured heavy mint and wasn't super creamy. Another unexpected but positive surprise was the wide array of mezes (7) to choose from for the second course. Since there were 5 of us, we tried and shared the ezme, saksuka, and haydari(x3). The haydari was my favorite because it's yogurt-based, super garlicky, thick, and perfect for bread dipping. My next favorite was the saksuka (eggplant and vegetable ragout), then ezme (spicy tomato and pepper salad). The entree selection on the 3-course Ottoman Menu was also generous, with 8 different types of dishes you could order. I ordered the Manti (described on the website as spiced Turkish raviolis in a yogurt sauce). They were PERFECT little meat filled clouds in a soft, creamy sauce. I also tried a few bites of the doner in the Doner Platter, and it was very well spiced and moist. The service was good, and since all five of us ordered the $15 lunch special the bill came out to about $80 before tip. Based on the atmosphere, the expansive choices of the Ottoman 3-Course Menu, and portion size, I think Cazbar is fantastic value for money. WORST HOOKAH EVER!! I don't know about their food... but this place should really stop serving hookah... or if they keep serving it, learn to do it right. came here just to smoke some hookah because it was the only thing open during the day. the served us a 2 hose hookah that had a small head on top... and a single quicklight right in the middle... now anyone that knows anything about hookah knows that that is a recipe for crap... it burned out about 10 minutes after we got it... and when I tried to explain to them what they were doing wrong, they assured me they knew what they were doing... (which was obviously not true) when I asked how much a refill was... they said they don't do refill and that it's the price of a new hookah ($15) After I told our server that 10 minutes in... the hookah tasted like burnt ash, she took it back to the kitchen, took out the burnt top part and stuffed more fresh tobacco in the head... and wrapped (what I hope was) a fresh piece of foil on it... (THIS IS NOT HOW YOU FIX A BURNED OUT HEAD!) brought it back to the table (once again with 1 quicklight right in the middle) and told me that she's not going to charge us for tobacco... just for the charcoal... (at that point my jaw dropped)... WHO CHARGES FOR CHARCOAL??? I asked how much they charge for new charcoal (thinking... maybe a quarter)... to which she replied $2... so... NEVER GO HERE FOR HOOKAH!! they should stop serving it... or learn to do it right... as a matter of fact, (if management reads this) you can hire me and my team and we'll fly out there and teach you how to run a hookah business right. read more

I've eaten at Cazbar more times than I can remember. This place is hands down one of the TOP 10 restaurants in Baltimore. The staff are always so friendly and accommodating. They have free valet parking on Fridays and Saturdays. The restaurant itself is really beautiful to look at it too. Everything from the authentic Turkish lamps, the vibrant newly remodeled lounge upstairs, the tile on the outside wall and the smart use of color throughout the restaurant makes Cazbar a truly unique spot in Baltimore. Another big bonus is that they have an incredibly talented belly dancer (a red head) who performs on Friday and Saturday who is extraordinary. She's one of the best I've ever seen. But the real highlight at Cazbar is the Turkish cuisine. I've never been to Turkey but eating here makes me want to travel to Istanbul one day just to eat. The hummus is dynamite. I wish I could bathe in it. The bread is orgasmic and the Moussaka makes me dance when I eat it. I honestly have never had a bad dish at Cazbar. The Sultan's platter is usually my go to choice but lately I've been going with the Turkish pizza for an appetizer and then either attacking the Adana Iskendar (ground lamb Kabob atop pita bread wih yogurt sauce or the eggplant lasagna. I have been to Cazbar several times. The food is always good, and if you crave for ethnic cuisine, this is the place to go. On our last visit, however, my experience with Cazbar was mediocre. They must have changed their prices recently, but the price tag now is absolutely outrageous. I ordered a cup of Turkish coffee for $4 (which is a tiny, not even two inch high cup), only to find that the half of it was full of coffee grinds. $20 for a vegetarian dish, really? And $9 for a tiny piece of baklava cheesecake? I would not oppose the price policy if the place stood up to it, but they definitely do not market themselves as a fine dining of some sorts, but rather a causal fare. Also to note, I got a biased vibe from our male server who was clearly treating my boyfriend with more respect than me. When my boyfriend left for bathroom, I caught a staring gaze from a man sitting at the bar, I am assuming the owner. Was not a pleasant experience. When we asked to cash out, they got our check wrong. When I told them that they brought us a wrong check, the manager assured us she'll clarify the situation, but five minutes later came back with the same check. I would have loved to see more willingness to resolve the problem from the management, rather than bringing the same check over and over. Did they think I may change my mind and pay it eventually? Finally, they estimate their "suggested" tip not based on a total food/drink charges, but on top of the tax also. In light of other customers complaining of them including 15% grat on small parties, without even communicating it, I seriously doubt their integrity towards the customers. read more

I'm not an expert on Turkish cuisine so it's hard for me to go in-depth about the food, but if this is what Turkey is like I hereby renounce my US citizenship and pledge fealty to the Sultanate. I also obviously am not aware of current political conditions in Turkey, either. This is one of my first choices for a night out on the town when friends come to visit. You can always expect great food, outstanding service and entertainment to boot. And our most recent visit this weekend definitely did not disappoint. Unfortunately they were out of our favorite eggplant appetizer so we ordered a couple of new ones, both of which were great, and were rewarded with a free babaganoush from the manager when he heard how sad we were that they were out of our favorite dish. This time (after all the appetizers) we elected to share a couple of our go-to dishes, since the portions are huge: the doner kebap and manti. Both were excellent; there was not a morsel left. So, in addition to the food there's a belly dancing show every friday and saturday night (9 pm friday, 10 pm saturday), hooka in the upstairs lounge, and dancing after the show. We were there for a solid four hours of fun and festivity and left with full bellies and big smiles all around. A note, I ALWAYS book ahead and request upstairs seating where the belly dancing show is. I always loved the belly dancers that's there on the weekends I just wished they let you make reservations early in advance. At 1 point of time they had hookah pipes which really made the experience wonderful but anyway I ordered from grubhub tonight and they said my food was going to be at least 1 hour and 45 mins i damn near fainted but to my surprise the door bell rang within 30 to 40 mins after i placed my order. New, to me, cold mezze: Yogurtlu Pancar (Poached beet root topped with garlic yogurt), sweet shredded beets dressed with tangy yogurt; Mohamra, Spicy Walnut Dip (With red pepper paste and pomegranate puree), pretty spicy and chunky with nuts; Şakşuka (Diced eggplant sautéed with peppers); Haydari (Strained Yogurt with dill and garlic), thick, creamy, pungent. Beef Kabap Meze (Skewered prime rib marinated with vegetables) was marinated, flavorful. Adana Kebap Meze (House ground lamb and beef with marash peppers) was highly seasoned, somewhat dry. Sautéed Mushrooms with kasar cheese was somewhat salty, not sure the cheese added much, but the mushrooms were savory and juicy. You get a soup, an appetizer and an entree for $14. My friend opted for that and got the pumpkin soup, baba ganoush and the beef/lamb platter. I went with the Adana Iskender based on the reviews and also ordered the Saksuka. The saksuka was on the blander side but the baba ganoush way very well made. As for the Adana Iskender, it was good. The meat was delicious but the bread was soggy and didn't really add much to the plate. The garlic yogurt and sauce were definitely on point though. The beef and lamb platter was also meh. Cazbar is a diverse, unpretentious restaurant that allows you to be comfortable immediately. Today, I met a ray of sunshine name Merve who made me feel like a valued customer the minute I stepped inside.
