I normally love CAVA but this location does not pay attention to what they're doing. Today I ordered a Greens +Grains bowl on the app. I picked up my order brought it up to my office. Once I took the lid off the bowl I noticed that they had forgotten to put the grains (saffron) in my bowl, which half the base for this order type! They also don't dice the tomato and cumber at this location like they do at others. I was essentially left with a bowl of soggy greens, big chunks of tomato and cucumber and big chunks of lamb (the other sauces and toppings were just fine). I understand that people make mistakes sometimes but this is this third time I received my order from this location with ingredients missing or just not being fresh. I really wonder if I will return to this location for lunch because there so many other food options near by. read more

This is a lot like similar fast casual Mediterranean places (like Naf Naf) except it has WAY more choices! You can choose so many dips, add ins, and sauces which was really great. My friend said that you really can't have a bad bowl there, no matter what you put in, and I can really see what she meant - everything was fantastic and truly did go together. Some of my favorite parts were the falafel, feta dip, eggplant pepper dip, and lime vinaigrette. The strawberry mint drink was also great. I would definitely come back!! I usually try to stay away from chains but CAVA has me HOOKED. I've never had anything I did not like here...my only complaint is that they don't serve me enough food (2 pieces of lamb? come on...) The lowdown: it's Chipotle style, it's quick, it's good. CAVA is so overrated! It was my first time at any CAVA and I had the worst falafel I've ever eaten. First, the menu says "Crispy Falafel" but they were nowhere close to crispy. I am a huge fan of Cava and I mostly visit the one in Tenleytown. Today, I was craving for it and decided to go to this location. The interior design is way prettier, and inside sitting area is much bigger than the one in Tenleytown (although seating seemed less). There was a HUGE line (people were waiting even outside), but the workers were still genial, friendly and helpful. Even though it was packed, they did not forget asking how people were, if there was anything they could help with, etc. It was hard to find seating, but the food was again AMAZING! So I love these pop-up like line through venues. You can pick what you want, skip what you don't want and everyone is happy. I have a pretty small stomach so I got the kids meal which consists of rice,a pita, choice of meat topping and pita chips. The food here is fresh, delicious and has something for the vegan, meat eater and veggiehead. The location is near a metro and they get you in and out real quick. This was our first experience with Cava. You start with a bowl, which you can fill with whatever ingredients select. They have several different types of lettuces as well as spinach. You then choose from several different types of spreads, then you move on to protein and have several different items to select from also. Then there are other toppings that you can place on your order, as well as different types of dressings. Everything was fresh, crisp and tasty. They have several homemade drinks to pick from. This is not fast food, but the service is quick and very helpful if you are not sure about the way the ordering works. We will definitely return to try another of the many combinations that can be created. read more

I enjoy coming to CAVA. The atmosphere is more of a contemporary restaurant instead of a chipotle style fast food joint. When we do come, we feel like we are eating healthy and with living in the city and eating out almost everyday you need to make it a point to eat healthy. Wait staff is super efficient and helpful and the food is delicious. Although a bit pricey, the meal can definitely last you 1.5 meals (I get the greens + grains bowl and load it up). The Mediterranean fare is great for a "fast-food" joint - the chicken is delicious and succulent, the vegetables fresh, the spreads are divine {I would suggest the Tzatziki & Eggplant + Red Pepper Dip}, and the pita chips, mint and lemon combination is great. I really enjoyed it!! It's refreshing and flavorful! There's one right by my house so I go often (I can't cook. I'm terrible at cooking). If you're looking for something that's healthy and full of flavor I do suggest you try this place. Service was cool. Workers were kind. The prices are okay on the pricey side of cheap. Yummmm I forgot how much I like Cava. I used to go to the one in Tyson's Corner frequently, but just visited the new one in Dupont today for lunch. The space is completely new, with wooden tables. It feels bright and spacious, and has a decent amount of seating, including a few outdoor tables on the sidewalk. I had a few people in front of me that had never been there before, and the staff was very accommodating in explaining their options and also giving some samples of things so they could figure out what they wanted. I always felt a little overwhelmed by the options when I first started going to Cava, so I thought that was nice. I went for the grains + greens bowl with falafel. Hummus, eggplant, tabouleh, tomatoes, mint, lemon. So good!! Plus the warm pita bread is a delicious way to eat the spreads. It is also so fulling, easily will hold you over until dinner. Cava impressed me only after I started to eat the food. I was not as convinced when I walked in as it looked like another "Chipotle" not that it's bad or anything. Efficiency for all! The pita crispies were also the cherry on top! Loved the texture. Cons: Pricey (over $10), but it was a HUGE portion that I could barely finish. The first time I came here was on a Saturday and while it wasn't super crowded, it did have a fair amount of people ordering and dining in. I explained to the person starting my bowl that I'd never been here. He was helpful and gave me some suggestions. He explained that after you pick your base (I went for the greens-grains), you can pick up to three dips (tzatziki, crazy feta and traditional hummus), a protein (meatballs), unlimited toppings (too many to remember), and dressing (sriracha). My meal was less than $10.00--I didn't get a drink. It was good and decided to try them again during the week and it was good but the lady that gave the protein (meatballs for me) only gave four; when I went on the Saturday, it was someone else and she gave six--not a huge deal but noted the inconsistency. It was also super crowded when I went on a Friday. I thought it wouldn't be so bad because when I went, it was almost 2 p.m. but that wasn't the case. Anyway, it's a solid lunch option that's close to Dupont Circle, although, you might want to give yourself enough time since it seems to always be crowded during lunch hours. read more

Just went to this location for the first time expecting good things -- and just as we sat down with our first forkfuls of food, a giant MOUSE ran along the ledge behind the tables. The entire restaurant erupted in shrieks as most of the staff stood frozen in shock. CAVA is great, fast casual food. It's like Chipotle, but slightly easier to convince yourself that you're eating healthy (my average meal here is in the 1250 calorie ballpark....whoops). Love to get a greens+grains bowl, pick a protein, and add as many sauces as my heart desires. Being from San Diego, I've prejudged most east coasters as being unable to handle spice, and discounted the actual spiciness of their spicy feta. I was pleasantly surprised! It's spicy as hell and I sipped through about three cups of water before my mouth was back to normal operating temperature. Minus one star at this location in particular because the staff is never in a good mood. I'd kidnap the staff from the Connecticut Ave Sweetgreen and throw them behind the CAVA counter if I could, but I don't think that's how it works. read more

WOW! I love Cava so much.. This place is hands down better than Chipotle. I went for the greens + grains bowl (brown rice and mesclun mix) and asked for a mix of seasonal veggies and chicken. I'm not a huge fan of hummus so I skipped over that part but unlimited toppings galore! I pretty much asked for everything... The cucumber and tomato salad, tomato and onion mix, etc. I topped it off with some lemon herb tahini and that sauce I tell you, is magic. I also got a side of pita chips which were a perfect mix of crunchy and soft. Even though I came in near closing, everything still tasted delicious and fresh. I am so excited to go again and I wish that they open more locations out of state! PLEASE expand more into CA and MA! read more

I usually love the food from this location. Something went terribly wrong tonight. I ordered the Lentil Avocado Bowl, a selection I have had twice before and enjoyed. I ordered online, it was ready when I arrived and I took it back home. To my extreme disappointment, the salad was soggy, as if water had been poured on it. Even the spinach was wilted it was so wet. There was one stone cold falafel and that had turned into a mush like substance. I would have returned it, but I didn't want to walk back to the store. I picked out some of the roasted veggies that were edible and now I'm disappointed and hungry. I will try this location again, but don't think I will order online. My favorite easy lunch spot. Biggest downfall is the ginormous line wrapped around and out the door, but it moves at a moderate pace. Prices are very reasonable and the taste/quality can't be beat for a quick meal to go. I highly recommend paying the extra $1.50 for spicy lamb meatballs - incredible! I love that I can add so many toppings, and it really is a delicious meal, that is plenty filling for under $10. I work down the street, so I will definitely be going back. Ok, the food is great. My issue isn't the food. My issue is when the staff talk to each other while you're trying to order, and then because they're not paying attention, they have to clarify a few times what you're ordering. And I don't mean once, this happened a few times between the girl taking my order and her coworker. It's frustrating, a little rude, and it doesn't save them anytime.
