First of all I LOVE, and I mean LOOOOVVVVEEEEEE Cava. I have been going since I lived on the east coast and was thrilled when I learned we would be getting one here in San Antonio, I was there opening day for this one on Basse Rd. The reason for the lack of stars is the customer service. The staff is really lacking. I went on 12/29/23, I ran in after going to the vet across the street to get a bowl to go. I walked in and the girl at the start of the line looked at me like she was terrified. I said hi!! She said nothing. I said I would like a grains and greens bowl. She still said nothing. She turned around after fetching the greens and stared at me with the same "terrified" look. As if I had horns coming out of my head. I smiled and told her which grain. Which btw, this store has become increasingly stingy with the food. My bowls used to be runneth over but not anymore. She gave me, my grains, still has not said a word to me, then my protein, then the next person asked what toppings. This person, again did not say hi, did not make eye contact, just kept looking at me. By the time I got to the end I was in fact a little annoyed. Had I grown horns? Did I have spinach in my teeth? Scales on my back? The cashier asked if I wanted a drink, still no greeting, but she was the friendliest of the bunch. The first girl didn't even ask if I wanted my free side pita, which I did, but they had to go get it because I was already at the end. Now, I am a middle aged woman. I worked retail for the first part of my life, probably about 15 years of my life in retail and retail mgmt. I understand we live in a digital world, but it's not all digital. Please retrain your employees. I do know your hiring as I saw the sign. I don't expect life stories from them but I do expect pleasantries. I expect a smile. I expect a pulse. This is the closest Cava to me or I would totally go somewhere else. I will not stop going but please work on some things. Customer Service for one. And then the servings of the food. I could barely see any rice in my bowl at all. I am positive it didn't get charged from the employees pocket. God Forbid this was my first time at Cava and I asked questions, would they have spoken to me? Why was she staring at me with utter disgust? I love Cava, and will continue to go because I love the food, but this one needs lots of improvement. The time before this one I put in a to go order, requested Pita, got all the way home and it was missing. Maybe I should go back in retail so I can train todays YOUTH!! read more

I LOVE this place, they get all of my money! I usually get the Harissa Avocado bowl with a couple of replacements or I get the Sweet & Spicy Chicken Pita Wrap and I recently had the Spicy Chicken & Avocado Pita Wrap with of course a couple of replacements. The Pita Chips are also good as well as the beverages. Service has been A1 so far and ordering through the app is super easy! read more

First time coming here,and the young lady in the front was very unprofessional and unkind. I wasn't sure how the ordering process worked and she walked away laughing while a young man took her place. We apologized and decided to go elsewhere. So we decided to pop over to the one on Huebner and the experience there was so much better, they talked me through the whole experience (: Only rating two stars because of the young gentleman who apologized for the lady's behavior. read more

I want to specify that this review is strictly for the Lincoln heights location. I love CAVA and eat there frequently the food is always fresh and the service is usually top notch. However, I understand that each location is franchised and has its own set of policies regarding veteran, senior, and other discounts. As a military veteran I am not a greedy person but I am always thankful when a discount is offered. In this increasingly difficult economy every little bit helps (I clip coupons and use discount cards too). My problem with this particular location lies with the information that was related to me when I inquired about a veteran discount. I was told not only that one was not offered at this location but that someone had been fired for providing a discount to a veteran in the past. In short I will continue to eat at CAVA and enjoy their food but it will not be at this location. read more

Mediterranean Chipotle! This place is a chain that's been growing recently! They serve up salad bowls, and wraps. They're basically the same thing, just with or without a bowl. They offer a bunch of different toppings, which are supposed to be mostly at no additional cost. The salad seems to be where it's at. You can go nuts with the flavors or just go with their recommended styles, which they publish on the menu, but you're not constrained to their suggestions. They also offer falafel, which looks like it sits under a heat lamp most of the day. My favorite thing about CAVA is their drinks station, with so many options other than soda or teas- they've got lavender lemonade, or cucumber mint water- they're all so delicious, I walk out of CAVA more hydrated than full. The staff has always been nice, and the food has been fresh. The restaurant offers lots of outdoor seating, and is well lit. Parking is easy, it's in the Lincoln Heights shopping center facing Broadway. read more

So excited Cava is here. I moved here from Virginia and loved it. This location is much larger than the ones in Virginia. It's Texas size. The staff was so friendly. The location was clean. Sorry I ate my salad so quickly and forgot to take a picture. If you go make sure to get the eggplant humus and also the lentil tabuleh. read more

Absolutely love this place and can't rave about it enough! Plenty of healthy options to choose from! I wish they had more locations in town. They always offer a pita bread with their bowl which is a huge plus for me. They have takeout options with DoorDash which is super convenient. I recommend building you own bowl and filling it with plenty of healthy options that they have and a spindrift drink! Their cookies are a hit! Give this place a try! read more

My husband and I have been there three times in the past two weeks. The bowls are delicious. If you order online you can see exactly how many calories are in your bowl. Four instead of 5 stars since last time we were there this strange woman at the counter was really stingy with the meat and trying to upcharge for things that had no upcharge at the last 2 visits or if ordered online. So, watch out for her and question it if she tries to do that. read more

Ordered, - A grain bowl with: saffron rice, romaine lettuce, harissa, tzatziki, braised lamb, grilled chicken, tomatos&cucumbers, corn, pita chips, and lemon herb dressing I have been to the CAVA locations in Austin, but I recently visited this location here in San Antonio. Very very very good! I love this place and am so happy San Antonio is starting to launch multiple CAVA locations. Some people describe it as the "Mediterranean Chipotle," but it's so much more and better. If you have an inkling to try something new, I'd always recommend this place. read more

The management at this location are tightwads with portions........I paid for double chicken just to get another locations regular serving........the manager was embarrassing the server to watch how much she was giving out.......definitely won't be back to this location when you spend 12 bucks for a half a bowl. read more

CAVA is fast-casual. If you want to order in for the night or meet up with a friend for a quick lunch or dinner, than this is a good place to go. It's healthy, it's filling and so flavorful. I really like the pita over the bowels, their pita bread is fluffy. The spicy lamb meatball is my favorite. It's crunchy and chewy and when you bite into a tomato or pickled onion, it just burst with flavor. I've also had the Sweet and spicy chicken. Do not underestimate the spicy in that one. They have one vegetarian option which is the crispy falafel. I have not tried it yet, but it is on my list. You have to get one of their freshly made drinks. If you had the specially made drinks from Panera or Salata, you will enjoy what CAVA has to offer. I really like the Cucumber Mint, it's as refreshing as refreshing can get. read more

You can take me to Cava any day of the week and I'd be a happy camper. My second visit was to-go during a lunch rush and because it took longer than expected, I was given a complimentary soft drink. I've ordered this several times over the last few months in multiple cities traveling for work. All my coworkers were really happy with it. I didn't usually order from here since you can't get anything without onions or specify toppings on the Uber eats app. But I always get their hummus, and red pepper hummus with those pita chips which are INSANELY good. So, when co-workers wanted to go yesterday, I jumped on it. Don't get me wrong. I love the vibe of this place. I LOVE their story. It's very NY/Northeastern deli feel (they're from Pittsburgh, but you get my drift, right!?). No nonsense. Small inside area. No tables inside. Just enough room to look at the menu, order, and go wait outside. I opted for the chicken bacon ranch on hoagie. What came out was a decent size sandwich, but incredibly messy and soggy. There was so much juice/ liquid the sandwich quickly became unmanageable and just disintegrated. Look, if you're going to serve a sandwich that messy, please upgrade your napkins. It was a one bite - two napkin ratio. The sandwich was good, but the mess and difficulty eating it just took away any enjoyment. Additionally, the flies outside rivaled the worst I've experienced. Do you remember the scene in the Lost World, Jurassic Park movie when the hunters found the Rex nest!? Okay, okay, maybe not that bad, but it was a lot. Hang some fly bags or strips or somethin'. Found price to be a little high. By the time I bought chips and a drink, plus tip: $22. Just FYI: my co-worker disagrees. He thought it was the BEST SANDWICH HE'D EVER HAD. So, yes, go give them a try, but bring a beach towel for clean up.

Staff friendly but don't go too close to the Happy Hour close times, the computer won't honor the price if it's over even one minute.

Service was prompt, and the ambiance is a funky cross between a bakery and a diner. Parking is easy in their private lot. I first tried their 'Texas Style' pastrami Reuben sandwich. This is smoked pastrami brisket, served with on their house-made marbled rye and topped with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and garlic aioli. Quite a bit different than a NYC-style sandwich. The aioli instead of dressing, thicker slices, etc etc. But wow, did it taste good. It's as if a pastrami Reuben and a sliced smoked brisket sandwich had a love child who inherited the best from each parent. I also tried their salmon gravlax on an 'everything' bagel. This bagel was baked in-house, topped with the cured salmon, cream cheese, tomato, red onion, capers, and a sprig of dill. Rustic, beautiful, and delicious. Definite recommend! This place scores a 5 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. I think the reason I didnt "love" the pizza is because its so different with the sourdough base and not what i am used to. I would like to return and try a sandwich or something else on the menu. Service was fast and friendly, and the place was clean and welcoming. My main reason for trying out wild barley was because they have sour beers, it wasnt the best sour beer i have ever had, but i have noticed in Texas the sour beers have a strange taste to them that i cant quite put my finger on. Overall though it was refreshing and cold. my husband really enjoyed the cider. We will be back and i hope after trying something different on the menu to change my review to 5 stars,

Two is more than plenty. They are tasty. One combination was egg, bacon, cheese and avocado. Another was egg, brisket, cheese and some sauce. As I said they fill the tacos pretty good and they are quite tasty. Be careful of the green salsa; it packs a delicious kick. Go there.
