I recently visited this Long Beach location at the traffic circle and was very shocked by the experience that I had received when ordering my food. I know that this is a brand new location however, 1) it was not busy during the time we went and 2) it seems like there has been zero training across-the-board with the employees there, and the operations for the line was simply not in place. There was one really nice lady at the very beginning, who seemed like she was doing her job plus everyone else's job on the line. On the line it seemed like she was only responsible for bases and dips yet after she saw the bottle neck in the rest of the stages of building a bowl she proceeded to literally do everything else. There was a lot of people just chitchatting around and not even acknowledging guests that were waiting for toppings or their main entrées for their bowls, this is completely ridiculous for guest experiences. I personally love Cava and always wished there was a location closer to me so when this opened up I was super excited. However based on this experience I'd rather just drive to Costa Mesa where they know what they are doing. I really believe that this is a prime spot for you guys. However, with the way that things are running today the restaurant is not gonna do any good. It seems like this is a shared experience with multiple I have heard from. I don't understand why there isn't a manager who knows how to lead and handle the operation throughout business hours. If there is, then unfortunately they aren't doing their jobs correctly. The food as well was a disappointment. It was completely drenched in dressing and my rice was not cooked. The rice was like dried up and hard. This was my first time trying Cava. I've been waiting for this location to open for a long time and was excited when they announced their opening. I went to their grand opening and the parking was fine but the line was super long. It was hard to find a table to sit at cause the line just wraps around them. It kind of reminds me of a Mediterranean version of Chipotle. You can build your own bowl or pick from a preselected menu. I decided to just get the chicken+right rice and they allowed to add more ingredients if I want. I thought the food was okay, it was more on the pricier side and the portion was small. The hummus and dips were tasty though. Overall it was pretty average. For now, I'll come back again after the hype dies down and maybe try the pita wraps next. read more

The food tastes good but I have never had a correct order when ordering ahead through the app. I've never gotten the free pita even though I order it. Today, not only was the wait prolonged even though I ordered 45 mins in advance and there were only 3-4 people in line, I got someone else's meal entirely; my name on the outside but definitely not what I ordered. My first time trying Cava and I was surprised by how long the line was on a Saturday night. I believe they ran out of basmati rice so it held up the line for a bit. They were also out of their lemonades/drinks. The staff was very nice and the inside was very clean and modern. The food was better than I expected however I'm not sure I would crave it, as it wasn't memorable. Suggestion: provide a QR code with the ingredients. I would have purchased the build your own had I known what all the ingredients were. They were provided on the glass after you place your order. Having it while in line may help speed up the decision making process. The ambiance is nice. Clean and modern. They have a large patio. So I was able to walk my dog here for lunch. :). To start, I really love Cava. I think their food is so tasty and is always fresh, really just great. Staff is pretty nice as well. I just want to say, stay away from ordering online with them. I order online often and they mess up the order about 70% of the time, as well as making you wait far longer than the time you put. For example, I might put in an order at 5 for 5:30, and by 5:45 it's still hasn't been started. Honestly though, this location is so busy and seems consistently understaffed. This is not an issue of the workers. I see the employees running around, working their asses off, seeming stressed as hell, all with a smile. It's on management to properly staff their stores. There's no reason for there to only be 5 employees (2-3 of which are kitchen staff) working during a lunch rush, ridiculous. Do better Cava management!!!!! read more

I'm a big fan of this chain, having been to a couple of others. I went with a coworker today - the time on the door states they open at 10:45 AM and not at 10:30 AM, as listed on Yelp. We arrived at 11:00 AM so it was not an issue. There was only one girl working the counter, which is a little crazy considering I'd see like five people working in the front at other Cava's. Luckily there was no one else there. The girl, who seemed new, was friendly and gave us good portions. I know some have complained about the portions, but it probably depends on who you get. From my experience, never order online as all Cavas I've been to skimp like crazy when you do. I ordered my usual Harissa Chicken (it's spicy - so beware) on top of salad along with a bunch of toppings, the corn being one of my favorites. I do like the Balsamic Date Vinaigrette as well, which is sweet unlike regular vinaigrettes. Garlic dressing on the side is a must as well for the free pita bread. It was my coworker's first time, and she loved it. Needless to say, we'll be back! read more

Do NOT use the order-ahead feature if you're expecting to pick up your food in a reasonable amount of time. Every time I've used it, my order has taken even longer than if I had just come in and stood in the longest line. One time it took 49 minutes, today over 30 min. I'm not sure if this is due to understaffing or something else, but twice now, I've had to leave without my order after waiting well beyond the promised time. This process needs serious improvement--it's been incredibly inconvenient and frustrating. While Cava support has given me credits twice, it doesn't make up for the wasted time. No urgency to get mobile orders ready on time (up to 25 mins late, in my experience), and since staff is on an assembly line, it's "what do you want?" and move on. Staff doesn't explain options, but just points to a sign for you to choose. The product is still good, and I'm sure that they're mostly college students trying to make a buck, so I'm not mad - it just seems like a missed opportunity.
