Not only is the food awesome, the Manager and the staff are amazing. They helped me set up my first bowl a couple of weeks ago, giving my recommendations and what their "go-to's" are and I was impressed to say the least. I am now eating here a couple of times a week as a result of the super friendly staff and flavorful foods! I find that the portion is great for the price. Let me pile on with another 5 star review ... this place is great and I was super stocked to see that there was one in the MIT area. So many options, so many flavors, everything fresh & delicious. Making a shortcut on your web browser for the online ordering app can be problematic for your bank account, as it's just too easy and delicious to resist sometimes. This also lets you build, review, and then rebuild the perfect order, instead of having to remember 20+ items or think on the fly when you're rushed along in the (often sizable) lunch line. Got the family meal for my partner and I to enjoy a few meals. It was a pretty good quantity for the price and was quite nutritious as well as tasty! I'd say we comfortably enjoyed 5 servings out of it, with some sauces leftover. It came with a large portion of chicken and salad veggies. We could have maybe used more rice or wish the pita was included. Got assorted veggies and sauces, could have used more hummus as it's a staple for Mediterranean food. Perfect place for a lunch on a work day, great location- right next to Kendall T station. I ordered a half grain half salad bowl with chicken. And I could add a bunch of sides, and other stuff to that. It was a generous portion for lunch definitely. It felt pretty much like Mediterranean chipotle. I would definitely go back again to try and have all the combinations. Cava is one of my favorite fast casual restaurants to date. The restaurant serves tasty, healthy Mediterranean bowls. Completely customizable, bowls are constructed on a base of greens, grains, or both. In addition to the traditional choices of spinach or lettuce, there is also a "super greens" option that consists of crunchy, fresh cabbage and kale. The dips section has a lot of variety. I've tried and enjoyed the tzatizki, hummus, and crazy feta dips. If you want some heat, you can throw in a harissa dip instead. Protein choices without extra charge include grilled chicken, grilled meatballs, and roasted vegetables. There are "specialty proteins", which include harissa honey chicken and spicy lamb meatballs. After choosing proteins, there are a lot of vegetable toppings - which include cabbage slaw, tomato and onion, diced cucumber, kalamata olives, pickled onions, feta cheese couscous, and Fresno peppers. There is no limit on the number of these toppings, so I frequently load my bowl with all of them. Finally, there are several dressings to enhance the flavor of your bowl. The lunch rush in normal times is very crowded, so I would definitely recommend ordering off of their app. The app is easy to use and also allows you to accrue reward points. I have always been impressed with the freshness of the ingredients. With no limit on the number of toppings and a lot of filling ingredients, it's easy to get full on a loaded bowl. The optional pita bread has always been warm and soft. Overall, the bowls are very balanced and delicious. I would definitely recommend Cava if you are dining in Kendall Square. read more

I got excited when I saw the shop and the pictures. I went on Sunday night at around 7:00 p.m. and found the stuff to be extremely unhelpful and unpleasant stuff. I've gone to CAVA for years, but I usually order online and pick up, so I've had limited interactions with the employees. A few days ago I accidentally picked up the wrong order. I didn't notice until I got home, so I was unable to bring it back. I felt sorry for the person whose order I'd taken, so I called Cava to explain what had happened. The fellow I spoke with (a manager or maybe the owner) could not have been nicer. Even though the mistake was entirely mine, he offered to make me the original order (i.e., the item I SHOULD have picked up) the next day, on the house. *Someone* might have gotten a little too excited about unlimited toppings and ordered all of them, thus creating some confusing flavor combinations, but that's not CAVA's fault. The long lunch line moves surprisingly fast, the various sauces and flavors are great and the variety of components is enough to keep you from getting bored even if you have dietary restrictions. The quality of the ingredients is good enough to justify the high-ish prices for a lunch place, while every single other lunch place in Kendall happily charges just as much for food that is often lower in quality. The portions are pretty decent too. Call me a vegan health nut if you must, but I find the vegan options here much more flavorful and satisfying than the deeper fried options of oh let's say, Clover. But meat eaters if you're reading this, don't worry, there's lamb and yogurt and whatnot. My only complaint is that they don't seem to offer catering. I have some lunch meetings that could definitely use some black lentils and lemon-herb tahini sauce. read more

Definitely going to be my new go-to lunch spot in Kendall Square as I work right on Broadway. I typically opt for Chipotle because of the places nearby it's a bit healthier than the others and fast, but now I'll certainly be here during my breaks. The service is efficient and atmosphere is pleasant with workers are both friendly and accommodating. I've now made the trip down the street from work a handful of times now and tried variations of the bowls/wraps with chicken, meatballs, and falafel. The chicken and meatballs were both pretty good, but as someone who watches salt intake, a bit much for me. I would definitely look to choose the falafel going forward. With that said, everything I've tried has still been tasty; incredibly fresh and well-seasoned. My go-to currently is the large pita wrap with tzatziki, falafel, and topped off with tomatoes, feta, cucumbers, and quinoa (you can also add dressing on the side!). First time I went it was huge--quite a bit bigger than most people would want for lunch, bigger than their bowl with cover could really hold (not a complaint, it kept fine for leftovers). I was very unsure about CAVA since I had had so many coworkers at the Kenmore location say it was hard to create a delicious bowl, since nothing is preset as recommended. I didn't have any trouble, however -- I found all the meats and sauces delicious, the portions very satisfying, and the pita soft, warm, and fluffy. I'd recommend the half and half vegetables and starch base, to provide something to "sop" up all the sauces you're allowed to add (and there are many)! I'd also recommend finding something fatty (like a feta or hummus) to pair with all the pickled vegetable toppings. read more

I'm excited for this new Kendall lunch spot. I tried the salad with falafel. It was delicious. The falafel are light, doughnut/fritter style....so it's like eating a salad with donuts! All of the sauces and toppings were delicious. Next time I'll get less sauces & dips so my salad isn't as heavy. Cava as a chain is great and it's nice to be able to quickly get fresh ingredients. The problem at this location is the rice and lentils. They are always either over-cooked or undercooked. Either way, the grains are very hard, making for a less than pleasant experience. The braised lamb is very tasty, but they often have these giant, fatty inedible chunks that they toss on the bowl. Today I got a few bones in my lamb- which was unpleasant because I have orthodontic braces. Customer service is also not great, but it could just be a reflection of the location. As a Kendall Square resident, I know we can be snobby and entitled. Either way, I don't know how people are only spending $10 on bowls, because mine consistently costs $16. It's just a bit expensive for lunch with bones and hard rice. Also, as many others have said- don't order from the app. You will be disappointed. They've never gotten my online orders correct.
