Had this fast-casual chain recommended by many friends, so I had to try it out for the first time. The bowl I made was a great balance of Mediterranean sauces, succulent proteins, and tasty veggies. Cozy establishment, similar to many diy bowl locations. What I like is that the menu allows you get order half portions so you can try two different bases and two different proteins. For my base, I chose arugula and romaine lettuce but instead of choosing two salads, I could have chosen a grain option if I wanted. The chicken was flavorful for sure! I was expecting plain boiled chicken but thankfully it's not plain grilled chicken either. The service was really quick because of the assembly line style. I wanted the person behind the counter change the dips/spreads when they were running low and noticed that they looked over the dip/spread before switching them out to make sure they were fresh. I was a little bit underwhelmed by my visit to CAVA at the Fenway location. I absolutely love CAVA, but this location completely skimped me on the portion size and didn't provide the quality ingredients that I am used to during my visit here. I walked in during dinner time, it was about half full but no line. Right off the bat, they were out of saffron rice, which wasn't a problem-- I waited about 7 minutes for them to whip up a new batch. However, the girl at the counter seemed a bit annoyed while taking my order. I have the utmost respect for the food service industry, and I know people can have bad days, but there was no line/rush and I was demonstrating patience and kindness while placing my order and it is absolutely an expectation in my eyes to receive that from the other end. In addition, a few things went wrong with my order. When I came to the dips selection-- I am entitled to 3 dips. This is the menu policy. I had ordered 2, but every other location has always asked me if I want an extra scoop of my selection to bump it to 3. The girl did not ask me. Then, I ordered avocado, which was not ripe enough and was ICE COLD. Bleh. To top it off, no free side of pita. Also menu policy. I expected more from this location. I've had great experiences with all food in Fenway. I hope I can one day say the same about my experience here. read more

Always love the food at Cava, but the staff is not very good. They're not friendly, and even though I asked for pita that's supposed to come with my bowl, they didn't provide it. I shouldn't have to ask for something that is supposed to already be included, let alone 2x and still not get it. They also don't listen when I ask them to make the bowl with less stuff in it. Cava is always such a convenient fast fresh and tasty option! I always get the rice bowl with either the spicy chicken or regular grilled chicken along with most of the veggie toppings, tzatziki, eggplant and hummus and the green sauce. I usually also have leftovers so the one bowl gets me a lunch next day which is great! Service is usually quick and friendly and sometimes we sit in the restaurant and eat and sometimes just get take out. Overall great experience! read more

I happened to be in the area with my sister who loves Cava, so at her suggestion, we decided to grab a quick dinner here on a weekday. The place was not too crowded with plenty of available seats inside and outside. I liked the plant-forward and relatively simple menu and appreciated that vegan options are clearly labeled. I customized a bowl ($12). In addition to many protein options, you can add 3 scoops worth of hummus (several varieties available) and customize the veggies. My favorite part of the bowl were the hummus and lentils. The portion size was larger than expected, and I ended up with some leftovers for a small meal the next day. The falafel was tasty but each one is only about 2 bites in size, so it might not be enough substance if it is your choice of protein. Most of the veggies were great and I would get almost all of them again--except the olives which were too salty for my taste. Overall, I enjoyed the healthy meal and would definitely consider visiting again! read more

This was not a great experience. I went around 8pm and they were out of feta and the garlic sauce (which is reasonable it is late). I ordered a steak bowl and when I got home to eat it the steak was raw!! I am a disappointed the little bites of steak looked cooked well from the outside and I opened broke apart some pieces and they were still rare. It's build your own style so I opted for a bowl of brown rice, mixed greens, harissa paste, traditional hummus and tzatziki sauce. Toppings included the black lentils, pickled onions, goat cheese, and garlic sauce. The person behind the desk patiently filled my bowl to my preference. It was delicious and hit the mail on the head. I loved the burst of fresh and zesty flavors. It was satiating and healthy, what more could you ask for. Overall, I had a great experience. FOOD: First off, you can pick a bowl, pita, or salad. I get a bowl with half greens and half grains, brown rice and baby spinach. After that, you can pick your protein, dips/spreads, toppings, and dressings. There are good serving sizes and lots of flavor. For the dips, I get the tzaziki, crazy feta, and eggplant and red pepper. Crazy feta and tzaziki are my favorite dips by far. I also usually get: chicken for protein, cabbage slaw, pickled onions, street corn, crumbled feta, pita crisps, and garlic dressing. My friend says its "better than chipotle"! I love CAVA but it seems they only good if you order in person. Everytime I do a delivery order it's always late, cancel or items come incomplete. I gave them a 3rd chance today and order from there and my bowl looks more sad than a mother in a funeral. They didn't follow none of the instructions and also didn't even add the items that already come with the bowl. Very frustrating having to deal with services like this. Despite being someone who doesn't typically order chicken when there is another option, I took the advice of trying their chicken and was thoroughly impressed-- it's always cooked and seasoned perfectly. always my first choice for a fast-casual restaurant. i've been about a million times and cava has never wronged me. definitely not the best restaurant in boston, but much better than most other fast food chains! the fenway location is usually pretty clean and well staffed and gives pretty decent portions. i usually get half chicken and half falafel in my bowl, and the toppings are not an additional cost (except avocado and some meats), so i can always load up! the balsamic date dressing is delicious and the pita chips are a must. read more

I came back to try this place again and my experience was much better! The first time I tried their lamb meatballs, the meat was extremely sour and unpalatable. However, this time around the meatballs tasted really great. They were not dry at all and were perfectly seasoned. I was disappointed with the portion size my first time here, but the portions were bigger this time. I still wouldn't say that I could split a bowl into two meals though. Lastly, the skhug dressing was awesome. I think it is made from cilantro (haters beware) and it paired super well with everything in the bowl. As someone who generally hates make your own bowl spots, Cava impressed me. After entering my 30s, I have been trying to eat more veggies but it's hard to find tasty grain bowls and salads that I like. Cava's options appeal to me a lot since I love Mediterranean food and it wasn't Americanized. It was refreshing to be able to try so many options since they let you split proteins, grains, sauces, etc. without extra fees. I thought the portion was very solid for the price. I had a hard time picking out what to order since they didn't have descriptions but that makes it exciting to go back to try out more. Some highlights: - Brown rice was dry but cooked through. Very granular so it was hard to get a forkful. This is coming from an Asian who grew up eating perfect Jasmine white rice so I am definitely biased. - Sauces are amazing, I don't think you can go wrong. I'd recommend getting it on the side if you are grabbing takeout. I went with the Skhug and Greek vinaigrette. - I thought the salt-brined pickles were going to be like jalapenos but they are indeed extra salty pickles. - Highly recommend the fire roasted corn!!! - Chicken was pretty moist! I have an insane fear of dry chicken so this was a huge win. - Lamb meatballs were dry but not gamey. I did not taste any sort of spice which was quite disappointing.Probably sticking with chicken in the future. - Get the pita crisps on top. Super fresh and crunchy.
