We noticed it was a little heavy on the dressings, but that was probably my fault, I thought the dressing selection online was going to split the portion of sauce, not double it. Next time I'll choose light sauce. Raw ingredients? Completely solid. Chicken was fresh, tender and juicy. Lamb meatballs were expertly done. Really great healthy quick food option! I got a greens + grains bowl with supergreens. I'd say there's a good amount of veggies but they could add more rice because it felt more just like eating a salad. That said, it was absolutely delicious. For proteins I did half lamb meatballs and half harissa chicken. Both were spectacular - super flavorful and spiced. Everything came together nicely with the freshness of the vegetables, tartness from pickled onions and sweetness from roasted corn. The sauce options they have are also bomb. Cava is my go to "fast" food. It is like a Chipotle structure but with Mediterranean style food. High quality, lots of toppings to choose from, and multiple ways to "build" your meal. I really like how affordable it is while also getting a great portion of food. This place is a great option if you have food allergies or eating preferences. There is a lot for everyone here. If you have a group of people and are trying to meet everyones needs, this is a GREAT option. There is not usually too long of a line, unless you go in during a rush lunch or dinner. If you do not want to wait in line then I suggest trying their ordering system. I would not call it flawless but most of the time its a great route. They also have experienced some shortages so checking the online ordering will also help you decipher if they have what you are looking for before heading the the storefront. The staff if really nice, I have been going to this location for a year now and have rarely had a bad experience. They have always handeled the shortages very well and I always left satisfied! I have to say that I was impressed by this place. I got the half grains half greens bowl with a mix of meatballs and shredded lamb topped with tomatoes cucumber, feta, hummus baba ganoush and taziki sauce, with a side of tahini sauce. I added to this the watermelon mint juice that they have in the back which I mixed with sparkling water to reduce the sweetness. This drink is absolutely delicious and superbly refreshing in our crazy hot cities in Texas. I think I paid around $14 for this delicious lunch and I have a feeling that I ate healthy and balanced. I liked it so much that a day later I used their digital pick up. The app needs a little bit of work and has bugs but it worked overall and was able to pick up my meal 15 minutes after I ordered it. Fast food doesn't get better than this! * * * Cava is a chain that basically does the Honest Mary's concept. Some meats, some vegetables, some toppings, done Mediterranean healthy style. Mix and Match Ingredients to your hearts content while your cardiologist gives you a thumbs up. At Honest Mary's you just do bowls. Here you can do pitas as well. IMHO, the pitas are the only weak link in an otherwise gold star first rate establishment. I say stick to the bowls. (Note that other Yelpers disagree with me about the pita. Other Yelpers disagree with me as well about the service being good. They do not disagree with me about the food being super.) * * * Cava is corporate, while Honest Mary's is indie. Being corporate is usually bad. But Cava is corporate/cool so things work. Unlike most fast food chains, Cava does not stint on the quality of raw ingredients. Everything they buy is top of the line. Where this really shows up is in the olives. Most chain places buy bad supermarket black olives. Cava invests in a serious kalamata olive. This is the olive equivalent of going from processed American cheese spread to an artisanal brie. It totally changes the taste of everything for the better. They are fussy about their chicken too - which is important in a world of factory chickens. The same thumbs up goes for the rest of what is in your bowl. They also spend on labor. I can't tell you anything about wage rates ... But they put a lot of people behind the counter. You get served fast Which is a major plus. * * * If I was on the road and wanting an absolutely reliable meal - Cava would be a good deal. When I am on the road, I tend to be Yelping. I am usually looking for somewhere I haven't eaten before. But sometimes you just want reliability and a good meal. If you see nothing but Burger Kings and Wendy's in front of you, You are in trouble. (Those chains in particular have totally fallen apart.) Eat at Cava. This location is a huge disappointment! I absolutely love CAVA and usually go to the one on Guadalupe but I was running late on a drive to Leander so I decided to stop here instead. First off, the portions are way smaller! Secondly, most of the toppings were not available and there was no acknowledgment from the line server that we were working with only a handful of toppings (only cucumber, tomatoes and cucumber, corn and lentil tabbouleh were available). Not only did he not offer me some Pita, I asked him for it, he looked at me and nodded then proceeded not to give me. To top it off, the lentils were dry as rocks which I unfortunately didn't notice until I was eating and I had it not only as a topping but also as part of my half and half so I don't know if just one part or both were that dry. Let's say they were running behind in the kitchen or something happened with their delivery truck or for whatever reason, they were short on food, a little acknowledgment (not even an explanation) would have gone a long way, it would explain the portion size, lack of options and dry lentils - they should have also taken the lentils out and said they were out instead of serving dry food. I love this place! Great location and nice to eat and go while shopping. The food options are great. The food is fresh and portions are definitely worth it. I like picking my own but I've also seen some folks get downright picky and change their mind several times. Staff is definitely patient with those complicated beings. Bit frustrating when there are 20 ppl behind them. But us 20 ppl in line love the healthy options. I really like their drink options too and garlic pita bread. Whoever is on the grill is doing great cooking that meat as well. The avocados are also fresh which is good to see them cutting each one open in front of you, unlike other places. I ordered a bowl with their rightrice (I think it's called) and some greens, hummus, eggplant, a bunch of toppings and tamari lemon dressing. I got a kids pita for my 1 year old. He loved most of it, the lentils, the hummus and veggies. Their employees didn't know what all was gluten-free (specifically the falafel) and had to ask the manager. I always feel nervous when employees don't know what is gluten free or allergy free. I feel like this is essential when feeding people potentially life threatening food items. Other than that, the food was delicious. My husband got a lamb pita and loved it. But he did mention how much more food my bowl contained verses his pita for the same price.
