i came with a party of 15ish to celebrate a birthday. our server was amazing! i think her name was angelina, she was super helpful & sweet. i ordered the tumbleweed onions as an appetizer & it seemed like there was more batter than onion. i don't eat meat & it is obviously a steakhouse so my boyfriend & i ordered the salmon dish & mushroom ravioli dish to share with one another. each dish costed $30 and the portions were incredibly small for the price. although, the mushroom was really good! i had a side of steam vegetables & they were pretty basic & tasteless. the ranch was super watery. boyfriend & i shared a brownie sundae, that was probably the best part of the meal. overall underwhelming experience. read more

Cattlemen's is a decent option for a family style dinner with shared salad and beans. We've had some 2 star experiences, and many 5 star experiences. Not sure if the variation is from the chef for the day, but more good experiences than bad. Wait staff has always been friendly and even apologetic on the bad visits. Ambiance - western and family friendly. Overall we keep coming back due to the positive experiences we have had. I have visited Cattlemens for 30 years all locations. Had a birthday dinner for 2 friends and it was a little disappointing. You can only order happy hour drinks and food in the bar which I have mobility issues and it was frustrating. My prime rib wasn't as flavored as usual and my two friend's rib eye was pretty dry. We visited Cattlemens on Wednesday for my birthday dinner! We arrived a little after 4pm (AKA before the rush) and only waited about 10 minutes for a table. My husband and I did the Steak Dinner for Two which is such a good deal! 1 appetizer, 2 entrees and 1 dessert for $80 - plus all the sides! We had salad, bread, beans and we both chose baked potatoes. I got the 6 oz Filet Mignon and he got the T-Bone Steak. Both of our steaks were seasoned and cooked to perfection! The Filet Mignon melted in my mouth! My daughter order the Kids Ribs with Apple Sauce, but unfortunately the ribs were very tough - she could not get the meat off of the bones. I normally don't send food back, but since it was her entrée - our server suggested we do a small steak for her instead which my daughter loved. For dessert, we ordered the Fried Apple Pie with Ice Cream. The whole meal besides the ribs was very good! We walked away very full and happy! We've lived in Dixon for 17 years but maybe visit Cattlemens only twice a year, mainly for Happy Hour. However, we recently visited for dinner. On the topic of Happy Hour, My Wife and I rather enjoy it at Cattlemens. It's not too crowded or loud, and the deals are really affordable and tasty. We normally like to get a couple of orders of Lambchop Lollipops to go along with a few House Margaritas. It's a relaxing way to enjoy an afternoon. In regard to dinner. I've always enjoyed Cattlemens, but for dinner, it's almost always out of convenience. That was true for the latest visit. I was in the mood for Prime Rib, and I knew getting seats wouldn't be a problem. While my expectations were not too high, I really enjoyed my Prime Rib. Cooked perfectly and the crust was really delicious on it. The Au Jus is fine, nothing special, but it does the job. The garlic fries I ordered with it were delectable. Just the right size cut, texture, and thickness. Small gripe...I would have liked to Prime Rib to be a little warmer. The hot plate thing doesn't do much to keep it warm. My Wife got a tremendous deal. I think it was the Pete's Special. A decent sized sirloin with mashed potatoes. It included a glass of house wine, all for under $30. She enjoyed everything. All-in-all an enjoyable experience. Not the fanciest place, but I like that. Come in wearing something comfortable, and enjoy food, drinks, and conversation without all the frills. We love to go to Cattleman's. My husband and I have dined there several times and it has always been a great experience. The staff are always happy to see us the minute we walk in. We are shown our table in just a few minutes. The food is always delicious and just the way we ordered. The waiters are so attentive and make our experience wonderful. The whole time we are there, it is a fun and great time. We always have food left over to take home too. The place was pretty busy and the ambiance is like an old school steak place with a large bar area where you can seat yourself at either the bar or tables. This gets crowded because if there's a wait for the dining room, people start stalking the bar tables. It was very busy after 5:00 pm with a significant wait. I had an idea of how this place was going to be after seeing them around the various cities I travel through. I ordered the sirloin steak medium rare with Dungeness crab. Much like Texas Longhorns and Black Angus, there's a 50\50 chance they will not cook it properly. It was overcooked to medium. The steak had enough seasoning where it wasn't bad but definitely could have been cooked better. The crab wasn't bad but a little dry. The steamed veggies that I got with it were cooked nicely just the way I like it. Not overcooked, with a little bite to it. The service was a little off in the bar because they were overwhelmed and my wine finally came after I had three bites left of my steak. I would say the value would be hard to beat for what I got. My entree was $30. It also came with endless salad and a side of beans too. If you're looking for a great value for a decent steak then this is the place for you. Been going here since 1975. Brochettes meat was still very good. Salad not. Lettuce use to be cold. We are out of thousand island? How can that be? They use Kraft I think. Plus they changed their great Blue Cheese dressing for some low-budget stuff. I knew right off things changed for the worse. Tried the happy hour recently with the fam. We got there late afternoon before the dinner rush so we were able to grab a table. Happy hour menu is only available in the saloon. Wasn't too noisy for us and the kids. I had a whiskey sour and raspberry lemon drop cocktail. $6 each!!! By husband had a few beers. He had the prime rib French dip piled high with steak. I had the lamb lollipops - perfectly cooked. Loved the balsamic drizzle. They brought out a complementary baked beans which was very nice. The kids had a hamburger and a steak - great portions. You would have thought they were adult servings. We indulged in dessert - years ago (~10?!) I had the apple turnover and it's stuck with me since. It was as good as I remember. The high crust to apple ratio is really nice. A la mode is the best. Kids had a brownie sundae and cookie. Those went down fast. We have talked about going to Cattlemen's for years!! We were inspired to dine in the restaurant from one of our favorite sitcom's - "Fresh off the Boat." We finally went on a Sunday. We were one of the first customers to come in, they opened at 2pm that day. We got unlimited salad (house made ranch is IT), hot fresh sourdough bread with butter, and beans for the table. We ordered kids meal's for our littles - my son said it was the BEST steak of his life, he practically liked his plate clean. My husband loved his meat falling off the bones pork ribs. He also got a side of mashed potatoes which were decent, but really loved his sides of caramelized onions and grilled mushrooms. I ordered the unlimited salad as I am a (mostly) vegetarian, and was told by our server that the Rustler Spud and the table beans were vegetarian! I ordered a margarita on the rocks, it was so strong (LOVE a strong drink!) Our server was so attentive, I wish I got his name to get a shout out - he really took care of us and made a connection with everyone at the table. The ambiance is fun, it feels like you are in your grandpa's cabin in the Appalachian mountains. It is sort of wild west theme, but in a woodsy way. The restaurant had vaulted ceilings and was a bit chilly when we stepped in. Came back here for dinner after the man was fiending for some steak and potatoes. We checked out the happy hour menu (until 10PM Monday - Thursday) and nothing really appealed to him, so regular dinner it was. We were not disappointed! BRICK and MORTAR Can't miss it as it's right off the freeway. Plenty of parking to choose from, with an entrance at the Saloon and the main entrance on the east side. All entrances are accessible with a wheelchair. SERVICE Signed in at the front for a 35 minute wait to be seated. They'll ask you for your name and a good phonenumber they can text you on when the table is ready for your party. It did not take 35 minutes to be seated. I'd say within 10-15 minutes as I couldn't remember how many songs played while we were waiting. A few at most. We were seated by the hostess and then greeted with our waiter, Zack. He was attentive and personable. FOOD and DRANK Food was exceptional. We both got sirloin, medium with a bake potato. I ordered the smaller version and it was still very much a big portion for myself. Everything came in piping hot and ready to be devoured. I ordered the Cooler and man that was dangerously good. For dessert, which is what original made me want to cosign BF was the fried apple pie. Yoooooooooo ..... hella good! Will come back just for this stop playing!!! Will order that one again for sure. We went here for my father's birthday (they sang and he got a hat) and it was great food and even better service. At first they told us there were no booths and told us it would be a 40 min wait (we did have a reservation) even though the restaurant was not packed. Last night we went to Cattleman's as part of our monthly tradition. We had a party of 5. Our server was Zach. Zach was an amazing server and took very good care of us. Even though it was super busy, he still kept checking in to make sure we were OK or if there was anything else we needed. He has an upbeat personality and was always smiling. Sometimes when things get busy servers seem overwhelmed, but Zach held it all together and we are very grateful for everything he did for us. Food is pretty good, but our server this past time was amazing! Went for my wife's birthday, because of the spiked blackberry lemonade. Never had a bad time at this place, but this time, we had Caitlyn as our server, and she was awesome! My wife and I are both pretty dorky, and do t hide it, and Caitlyn just joined right in with the fun. She was also very quick with everything, and really made the night a lot better. We really appreciated her hard work, and fun personality. On a separate note, we also noticed how clean all the decor was.
