Was craving a seafood boil, so my husband and I decided to come here for dinner. We've been here a couple of times before and always enjoy it! When we walked in, the restaurant was about one-third full. There was no wait, but we did stand there for a few minutes before being greeted and seated. Not a huge deal, just something we noticed. We usually order one of their Signature Combos with a side of white rice and Cajun fries (because you have to soak up that sauce ). This time, we went with Combo #1 -- one pound of clams and two pounds of head-on shrimp -- and got the house special sauce in medium. After we ordered, our server brought out lemons, salt and pepper, bibs, and gloves -- which we definitely appreciated because seafood boils can get messy! Our fries came out first, then shortly after the seafood, and then the white rice. Everything was hot and fresh when it arrived. The house special sauce had that perfect balance of buttery, garlicky, and a light kick. I will say the levels of spice is not consistent here - as the medium was just a light kick (felt more like a mild spice to me). The shrimp were juicy, the clams were yummy, and it fully satisfied the craving. Unfortunately, there was only one server working, which made getting additional items a bit of a longer wait (definitely not her fault!). She truly did her best to check in on us and keep things moving. Overall, this is a good place to get your seafood boil craving satisfied!

Cajun Crack'n has got to be my favorite seafood boil spot--not only because of their prices, but also because of their incredible flavors. While we were in the Vacaville area, I couldn't resist stopping by to try it. For a Saturday, it was surprisingly not crowded at all. There were only two other tables, and this is a pretty big restaurant! I imagine most people were busy with Super Bowl events in San Francisco, San Jose, or Santa Clara. My boyfriend and I ordered Combo #1 - 3 lbs of shrimp, House Special, mild. They were kind enough to give me a side of spicy sauce. One thing I really appreciated: they serve the boil on a big platter if you choose, instead of leaving it in the bag. This prevents the shrimp from continuing to cook in the bag, which avoids overcooking and makes peeling much easier--definitely a plus! I also ordered the Blue Hawaiian drink from the happy hour menu. Our server kindly informed me that happy hour is Monday-Friday only, and the drink would be full price. I told her, "Oh, thank you for telling me. I'll still take one!" and she was so sweet about it. Overall, the food was delicious, as always. I do wish the server had checked in more often, as we had to flag her down a couple of times, but she was attentive and helpful whenever we needed anything--for us or other tables. Highly recommend if you're in the area and craving a flavorful seafood boil!

The food was great and the wait staff were friendly. Everything looked clean and the place was surprisingly full. The portion size was large. We ordered the combo #2. Snow crab, green muscles, and shrimp (without head).

Our group of 12 came to celebrate a birthday for our friend who passed away a long time ago. We had a last minute change to this venue and so thankful that we were able to get a table. Our server was able to take our orders so we could chat and reminiscing about our friend and catch up with each other. Hubby and I ordered the garlic noodles, shrimp basket and soft shell crab po boy. Our server was attentive and checked on us frequently. Our food came out and my bast was good. I really liked the garlic noodles (add lemon to it!), the sweet potato fries were so good and my shrimp was lightly breaded and good. Hubby and I didn't really like the soft shell crab po boy but it was edible. I would like to try the other stuff on the menu next time though. We had a great time.

So I'll start with the good! Our seafood boil came out piping hot - we ordered 1/2 lb shrimp and 1 lb crawfish, garlic butter, mild. And it was good... honestly didn't expect much because crawfish is usually frozen, but the taste wasn't bad. The fried okra was surprisingly good and the calamari rings were ok. They gave us bibs, disposable gloves, lemons, salt&pepper, and disposable utensils. It's gonna be a messy time eating...so I get it! The staff was friendly and checked in a few times. The place was empty on a Sunday afternoon with about 4 other tables sat. The OK: We were sat in a back corner, where we couldn't see the TVs. Normally I wouldn't mention it, but there were 3 other families there so it was a little weird to not be sat in the lighted areas. There was also what seemed like only 2 waitresses and it took a good 10 minutes for ours to visit us to say hello. It just seemed a little off for 5% capacity. Lastly, water. The first waters she brought out tasted fine! It was the second water refill that tasted like soap or something. I stopped drinking it. The price is what brought us here, compared to other places.

If you have a seafood craving come here. Little pricey but the quality has always been the same. Fresh oysters, Oyster and Shrimp Po'boys sandwiches, Garlic Noodles, and their fries- sweet potato fries are my favorite! They also do Fried Okra, would definitely be back! Great place for a party, lots of seating, food is always fresh and made fast, definitely will be back!

Staff: 5/5 Food: 4.5/5…read moreAmbience: 3.5/5 ***Intangibles: 10/10*** Decided to break this review down into four parts because I feel each one needs to be addressed as to why I give this establishment 5 Stars. I've been here twice now, and feel this is an honest assessment of what to expect Staff: Extremely courteous and helpful. I've felt welcomed from the very first instance I've come through the door. Food: On both occasions I've had the Fried Chicken and Fried Catfish, along with some French Fries. While I think the Fried Chicken is good, it just doesn't hit me the way I would like. While it is cooked perfectly inside and out, it just lacks something for me. The Fried Catfish on the other hand, is on point. Cooked perfectly again and just wonderful flavor and seasoning. Fries are right up there, too. I haven't tried anything else at this point, but I imagine that there are probably no real disappointments from here. I'm a big boy and portions are more than enough. Ambience: I had to mark this down a bit. While it is not bad, it's nothing special either. Tables and chairs, and a few decorations and TVs. The place is extremely clean which is something you can never take for granted. Intangibles: The Owner...This guy is full of energy and just puts out a real positive vibe. He knows customers by name, and just seeing the repeat customers tells me the place is good. After both visits my interactions with him just leave me feeling good, which is something that's hard to find these days. Definitely a spot that's on my consistent "go to" list now.

Come early or you'll likely not get to have what you're eyeing on. When: Saturday dinner at 5pm (came when they were opening door) What: Chicken satay, pork satay, beef satay, seafood laksa, hainanese chicken rice, fried spring roll Experience: Superb food!! It is a lot of food, but we wiped out all of it among two adults and two young kids. The satays were SO GOOD! Hands down the best I've had in the USA, and on par with the best satay places I've had in Southeast Asia! Our favorites including both kids were beef and pork. So tender, so flavorful and delicious even without using the peanut sauce. We even got another two orders of each to take home! Seafood laksa was such a big portion with good amount of seafood. If you've had Singaporean or Malaysian laksa, this is different. Different in a good way since the owner chef is from Indonesia. The Hainanese chicken rice was tasty. Turmeric rice was different since I'm used to the ginger chicken rice, but the poached chicken was very well made. Under the chicken skin was a layer of gelatin which happens when the chicken is poached and then cool in a meticulous method. Together with the ginger scallion oil sauce, it was umami! Fried spring rolls were crispy and good flavor of meat and vegetables inside. Together with their house lime chili sauce, it was a party in the mouth! Looking forward to their opening at their next location!

(I also paid using the online services, but I did see someone paying in person.) I was drawn to Bazar Eatery when I saw they had Laksa; I ordered the Seafood Laksa. Ever since I had it in Singapore, I've been hoping to find somewhere that serves this soup. It was nice to find somewhere that serves it, but it doesn't compare to the flavor of the laksa I had in Singapore. (Maybe it's a different variant of the dish, but I preferred the more coconut heavy broth flavor that I had over there.) I still enjoyed this dish overall though. I also tried the Hainanese Chicken. It really wasn't anything amazing, but this could be due to the dish being served with regular, white rice; they had run out of turmeric rice for the day. I also had the kumquat sparkling drink. The menu notes it's sour, but I didn't think it was overly so. It was still more sweet than sour in my opinion. I enjoyed the drink, and it tasted like they used real fruit rather than artificial syrups. I think the portions are a bit small, particularly in the case of the Hainanese Chicken, but it's nice that they served complimentary shrimp chips. Service came off as genuinely welcoming/friendly, even if we weren't checked on after the food came out.

We had different servers who attended to us and they're both friendly and looked cheerful. We got there towards the end of Happy Hour and was presented with their Happy Hour menu. The menu is small, easy to read and has almost everything we'd want for that time of day - including the drinks. The food is a 'hit' or 'miss'. Here's my review: Drinks: Both the Arnold Palmer and the Cadillac Margarita were good. My lemonade tea wasn't overly sweet and I could definitely taste the lemonade. The pitcher of Cadillac Margarita looks innocent but may give someone a slow and powerful buzz if you're not used to the drink. (4.75 of 5) Charcuterie: This a complete appetizer board. Overall, there were some hits and misses, however, we agreed this is a well thought out appetizer board. (4 of 5) Crispy Brussels Sprouts: This is the best dish here, featuring deeply caramelized, dark golden-brown edges and a nutty, earthy flavor. Their Crispy Brussels Sprouts is also the best we've had. The seasoning is on-point, allowing the texture to show off its crackling, crunchy bite on the outside, contrasted by a tender, melt-in-your-mouth interior. (5 of 5) Seasonal Tacos: "Oh WOW!" The explosion of spicy and tangy flavours balanced by contrasting textures makes this dish "pop". (4.75 of 5) Beet Salad: The colours were lovely, but this beet salad was over-salted. The vibrant dish featuring beets as the main ingredient, balances the earthy sweetness with contrasting textures and flavours. If this wasn't too salty, it would have been more refreshing. (3.75 of 5) Coconut Lime Bouillabaisse (halibut, jasmine rice, spinach, snap pea, pickled shiitake mushroom, coconut lime broth, basil oil): Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Bouillabaisse means seafood. The only seafood we noticed were chunks of halibut, which were delicious. This dish looks and tastes more like an elevated Thai soup dish that cost too much. (3.5 of 5) After walking in, we decided to sit outdoors because of the loud music that was playing. We're glad we did. The overhang on the veranda was well positioned with plants and flowers softening the cement walkway. The weather was pleasant - with a gentle breeze blowing down the corridor. Parking is easy if you arrive early enough. One last note: Back Door Bistro in Vacaville was featured on "Check, Please! Bay Area"
