My girlfriend and I came to Buckhorn Steakhouse in Winters to celebrate our anniversary, and overall we had a really nice experience! I ordered the prime rib, and WOW it was amazing! It was definitely on the thinner side compared to the prime rib I've had at other steakhouses, but the flavor absolutely made up for it. It was seasoned really well, flavorful, tender, and honestly one of the best-tasting prime ribs I've had in a while. My girlfriend ordered the rack of ribs, and she loved them! She said they had great flavor, were tender, and were cooked really well. We also shared a side of mushrooms, and those were SO yummy definitely a side I'd recommend adding to your meal. The restaurant is definitely on the expensive side, especially for a steakhouse, but for a special occasion like an anniversary, I'd say it's worth the splurge in the long run. Our waiter was also incredibly sweet and attentive, which made the experience even better. Since we were celebrating our anniversary, they even gave us a free dessert, which was such a thoughtful touch! As for the ambience, it's okay. It has that classic steakhouse/western feel, with deer and elk heads mounted on the walls basically staring you down while you eat . It definitely gives the restaurant a unique atmosphere, although it's not necessarily the type of ambience I'd come here for. We came here to celebrate my birthday and enjoy a nice, steak dinner. We arrived for our 630 reservation and the greeter sat us and wished me Happy Birthday. It was not surprisingly packed for a Saturday night and I think one or two other families were celebrating birthdays. We started off with Tri Tip Tot-chos and they were deliciously addicting. So much we ended up eating half our dinner and taking the rest home. The tri tip had great flavor to go along with the crispy tots. The boneless ribeyes were so great! Nicely seared on both sides amd seasoned perfect. Tender to the cut and bite. Buckhorn is a restaurant I know I can come to and get great quality steak in a consistent basis. TLDR: One of the best steakhouse experiences I've had -- the food and service both deliver. We ordered the wagyu steak special and the ribeye, and both were phenomenal. The wagyu had a richness that's hard to find, and the ribeye held its own right alongside it. The sourdough bread as a side was simple but really good -- don't skip it. We also had a chance to try a couple different wines before committing, which our server made easy and relaxed. The staff was friendly and patient the whole night. We took our time figuring out what to order and nobody made us feel rushed -- they came back to the table multiple times without any pressure. We were there to celebrate an accomplishment and the atmosphere fit the occasion well. On a previous visit the German potato soup was one of the best I've had, and it's still something I think about. My hubby and I enjoyed our dinner, but would not recommend if you are looking for a quiet , romantic dinner. It was very noisy and busy. We saw our server once. My steak was definitely well done. In this small CA city of 7500 people, this is the steakhouse that you must try. We were seated immediately at 8p before the stopped seating at 8:30p on a Wednesday night. The server we had was Desiree and she was WONDERFUL. Her customer service was on point and we appreciated her. We ordered: 1 Filet Meal cooked Medium Well, 1 Wedge Salad, Appetizer Scallops, and 1 Buckhorn Steak Sandwich with 8oz of thin sliced steak on a brioche bun. Our food was at the table within 15 minutes. The Filet Mignon came with Mashed potatoes and broccoli. My wedge salad was perfect it was a super large portion. My Husband's appetizer scallops were prepared well and he says they were good. I ordered a peartini, which was delicious! We ve been here annually for a long time as a group. It's our treat dinner for a excellent Beef dinner. So Filet for each of us. The grilled vegetables were just ok, peppers better than broccoli. But the shared loaf of bread and the shared caesar's were delicious. it actually opens at four as opposed the the information painted on the glass entry doors. The original buckhorn located in Winters in their nice little city area that has both a bar area, a separate bar area, and a dining area. It gets busy here after work and you can make reservations. We had a reservation for 5 (4 adults and a toddler) at 6, but we came early for drinks at the bar at 5. There are def bucks on the walls, nice cocktails and strong drinks, plenty of service. We moved over to the dining side for dinner and we started with appetizers-- brussel sprouts, Cajun steak bites, and garlic truffle fries. For our entrees I got their roadhouse chopped salad that comes with Tri tip, they didn't ask me how I wanted it but I like it medium rare and it felt right. The salad was amazing and huge! One of my friends got the Tri tip bites as an entree and added fried shrimp. Someone also ordered the grilled salmon and then another got the char Tri tip well done to share with their kid and added garlic mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, and string beans. Since we were celebrating a birthday they gave us a candle with their mocha almond cookie ice cream which was super good! Buckhorn is a staple for my family! We've been coming here for as long as I can remember. It's also a staple for my husband and his family. Together, we continue the tradition of coming here for special events. We visited the steakhouse over the weekend for my mom's 70th birthday and as always, it was a hit. We made a reservation well in advance and were seated immediately. Service was great and the food was phenomenal. We started with the grilled artichoke appetizer and that was delicious. I opted for the boneless ribeye (served with my choice of mashed potatoes and a seasonal green) and ordered a side of peppercorn cognac sauce (additional charge). Wouldn't reorder the sauce (too sweet imo) but my mom had a side of their "A2" steak sauce and I loved that. Their steaks are aged and always great. We went to the restaurant with high hopes for an extraordinary meal. We had heard rumblings in the community about a lowering of standards in the food and service, but in the past were always pleased. However this time was definitely a disappointment in both service and food quality. Our server Azucena was adequate but not especially welcoming. We were lacking place settings and condiments and her attention felt like a duty versus good service. We felt rushed and not cherished. Highlights were the scallops appetizer (3/18$) and the Berryessa Sauvignon Blanc. However Of the two rib eyes we ordered one was overcooked and the house salad lettuce was definitely not the freshest. We were celebrating a double golden anniversary and had mentioned this in the reservation. There was no recognition of this at the time of our meal. Food- wow! Delicious rib eye steak medium rare was on point! The baked potato was baked just right. Broccoli was ok. The peppers were yummy! My margarita was delicious and perfect. The appetizers were delicious- scallops were delicious, artichokes were excellent seasoned and the calamari were ok. Service was great from our server. One of the best meals we've had out in a while!! The grilled artichoke was perfection. My husband's tri-tip has kept him talking about it for a while now. My prime rib was tender and delicious! Been to the Buckhorn Steakhouse many times since moving to Solano County in 1994. Most of the reviews have said it all, so I just wanted to share a quick review. On the most recent visit, my friend recommended the Char-Roasted Sirloin Tri Tip. Oddly enough, over my many visits, I had only ever ordered the Prime Rib or Ribeye. I was pleasantly surprised. Wonderful crust and overall flavor. A great deal for the price as well...$30. The real star of the show though was the five Beer Battered Prawns I added on for $12. The batter was delicious and fluffy while also being well proportioned to the prawns. Plus, these were legit prawns. Can't stand when I go somewhere and just get some medium size shrimp. These were big and filling. I ate all five and had to take most of my Tri Tip entree home. No doubt I'll order the prawns again. read more

Shout out to Bianca and the stellar service we rec'd for dinner. We frequent Buckhorn Steakhouse for occasions as the food is consistently good and there is something for everyone on the menu. Whether you're feeling a steak, fish, burger to a salad, you will have something to choose from. I enjoyed my last house salad (add tri tip!) with the dill dressing and it was delicious. I also enjoyed the clam appetizer as my meal. The grilled bread dipped into that broth is heavenly. Among other choices...you cannot go wrong with the brussels sprouts appetizer, calamari and get the bread served warm with whipped butter! Bianca sets a high standard of providing excellent service. It's been a few years since my husband and I have been here. This time we came for our anniversary and everything was just as delicious as the first time. We booked a reservation at 4pm. We got there 15 min early and they sat us right away. We love the decor in the main room. A chandelier made out of antlers and all the animals that are on the wall is a nice touch to the restaurant. The server came and took our drink orders and appetizers. It was also Valentine weekend so we ordered off the Valentine menu. We ordered the beef carpaccio and bread for appetizers. The beef carpaccio was delicious. I could actually eat it as a meal by itself. The flavor was right up my alley. The dressing was a tart dressing with arugula and Parmesan and the beef just melts in our mouth. The sourdough bread with butter is always good. My husband got the ribeye steak cooked medium rear. The ribeye was nice and tender. Flavor was good also, my husband didn't even need steak sauce. I got the seafood cioppino. It had sea bass, muscles, clams, squid, shrimp and toasted sourdough bread. It was absolutely delicious. The shrimp was huge and it was nice and juicy. The sea bass was cooked perfectly, not dry at all. The muscles and clams were my favorite. The service was excellent. Our server came and checked on us every so often. This place will definitely be our place to go to for our next anniversary. read more

Food - none of the steaks where correct doneness. Baked potatoes overcooked. My husband, who ordered a well done NY steak, was told when served that the restaurant had run out of baked potatoes. We ordered 4 prime ribs and three of the four were tough and one was over cooked and one had to be sent back, as it was full of fat. The meat hard to cut and not juicy or flavorful. It is not the same restaurant anymore. You now have to pay for a salad and bread which and it was always included with the meal. For the first 25 years that I went to the Buckhorn, I couldn't wait to go back. But the last few times have not been up to their standards. I haven't been back in 1.5 years now, was waiting for them to turn things around. Not sure what happened ? I heard it was new management ? Not sure but it was not good and especially for the price. You don't mind paying up when things are Great. But I haven't now been going to the Cattlemen's and it's been great every time the last 1.5 years. We recently went to Buckhorn Steakhouse and were really disappointed with the food. We ordered the calamari and steak bites to start. The calamari was dry and didn't taste fresh at all I definitely do not recommend it. The steak bites also seemed like they were cooked much earlier in the day, not fresh or juicy. For our child, we ordered the kids' mac and cheese, which was not tasty. The white cheese sauce was watery and lacked flavor. We also tried the clam chowder, and it was very obvious it wasn't made in-house it tasted exactly like canned soup. After that, we decided not to order anything else. We recently moved to Vacaville, and it's really sad to see a restaurant with so much history serving food of such low quality. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back. read more

Yesterday, we celebrated a surprise retirement dinner for our mother. We had been planning this for several months and invited a number of former employees and colleagues. The Buckhorn staff were very accommodating and made the whole experience very special. We started off with drinks in the Devilbiss Lounge, which is wonderful and has great ambiance. Then we had a large table in the main dining room. Our server was fantastic as was the food. The Buckhorn for our family is an iconic steakhouse. They catered my wife and my wedding 27 years ago. I hadn't been to the Buckhorn Steakhouse in several years and when I was in the area I had to go back. We opted for outdoor seating as there was an hour wait for the dining room. The outdoor seating was very nice as the weather was perfect and that corner in Winters is so attractive with the park across the street and market lights at many of the cute businesses in the area. My friend and I were very hungry when we arrived, so we ordered some bread and butter to have with our cocktails while our food was being prepped. The bread was served warm with butter that was hands down the best butter we have had in our lives! Unbelievable. We split the wedge salad and the ribeye. The ribeye was served with, if I remember correctly, black garlic butter on top. The ribeye was fantastic. It was perfectly prepared, seasoned, and tender. The wedge was delicious too. The craft cocktails were fantastic. The service was amazing. Other servers were even checking in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. I definitely recommend the Buckhorn. read more
